Sleeper of a sports car hidden in a Sonata?
I want to start off by saying BUY THIS CAR IF YOU CAN FIND IT! This is my 4th Sonata purchased in the last 16 years, we liked the cars, but they were boring, so we sold the last 3 over the years. I needed a good commuter car for the next 6-9 months till retirement. We found a dealer about 90 miles from us, and test drove the 2022 Sonata N-Line...I only needed a short test drive to be sold on this car. The ride is tight, but not overly stiff, great Bose system that will take a few hours to break in the speakers, purchased the 1 single available option summer tires $200. The Sonata has driving assist that will keep you centered during long commutes, borderline self-steering, (you have to keep touching the wheel around 30 seconds) Driving on the highway is a dream in Normal mode the car is a great family vehicle with great seats...Now for the fun stuff in Sport mode the Sonata comes out of its shell to hang with some of the sportier cars in its class, traction control is engaged, and the steering is stiffer, and the exhaust gets louder. Sport plus you are on your own, traction control is off, car gets even louder (how is this possible?) 0-60 in 5.2 seconds.... not bad for a car around $35,000. top speed for the Sonata is about 150 mph REALLY!!!! So far, my only complaint is they should have an AWD option in the future. Hyundai's Hidden Gem the Sonata N-Line...BUY

The best driving sedan I have ever owned!
This is the limited edition with every option and driver assist available and it is just a great driving car. The fantastic all-around camera system really helps keep this 82-year-old man out of trouble. It does take a lot of time to set up the seemingly endless options and controls, and after 14 months, I am still learning new features. The only issues I have had since the car was new is a rattle like sound in the rear suspension that I have spent many hours chasing and now think it is the rubber bushings squeaking. Getting the car in for service at the local dealer is a multi-month proposition that I have not managed yet. I get a bit of, I guess Turbo lag once in a while when pulling out into traffic, but that is rare. Overall, I love the car, and would buy it again. UPDATE: This is the Limited Edition with every option available including HeadsUp and other than being a noisy car on bad roads we love it. The big issue is that we have had 3+ cracked windshields in the last 2400 miles and 6 months. The plus is that we have received a new bull's eye while waiting for the third replacement. We live in a retirement community and not in a construction zone and only drive the car about 400 miles a month. I am 82 years old, have owned dozens of vehicles and have only replaced one other windshield in my entire life. All three windshields show tiny pits that resemble being hit with sand, so the glass seems to be very easily damaged. None of the cracks were caused by anything bigger than a tiny chip!

Unreliable!
People stay away from Hyundai’s. Don’t be fooled by the features that the car has. When you buy a car the most important thing should be reliability. These cars have a reputation for bad engine reliability. I am on my 3rd Hyundai Sonata and I have taken my car to the dealership 4 times. All for powertrain issues. I currently have a 2023 sonata SEL and this my second trip to the dealership for Engine failure.
Looks good! Gotta love it!
This car has a smooth ride and is good on gas. It's also loaded with other nifty features that are "must have " items for the average person who's always on the go.
Poor Design
I bought this 2017 Sonata out of desperation. Drives like a boat, but worse, I discovered that the trunk will latch and stick and there is no other way into the trunk. The back seats fold down FROM THE TRUNK. There is no external button or lever to access the trunk when the latch is broken or is accidentally (easy to do) switched to valet mode. Who designed a trunk that can't be accessed in an emergency.
Replacing a 16 yr old sonata
Only had car for 24 hrs so far so good
Avoid this car
This is my 3rd and last new Sonata. They have gone consistently downhill over time. This car is not user friendly. If you like to turn on your car, put it in gear and go, this is not the car for you. You have to spend time disengaging stupid things before you can even start out. First off, it automatically sets the parking brake almost every time you park--even on level land, so you have to disengage that before you go. Then there is the annoying engine start/stop mechanism that you have to disengage before you start out. Then it is a toss up as to whether the push-button gear shift mechanism will work. You often have to push the gear you want two or three times before it will engage. Then there are the computer screens that randomly flip from the mode you have them set on to some other mode. The list goes on and on.
