A nice hybrid I would buy again
I love my Sonata. I was a bit skeptical at first but it has held up really well. Very low maintenance cost and good cost savings. When on highway I get 47-49 mpg. In city I get around 38 mpg. Overall, the average is about 42-46 mpg for an average driving style depending on the weather and where I drive. I always drive in eco mode and haven't felt the need to switch to other modes. I have regularly driven up Mount hood, Helens and a few other hilly areas near Portland and still drive in eco mode without any issues. Love this vehicle! I would definitely buy this again given a chance. Fuel economy and gas emissions are one of my primary decision parameters and this vehicle does decently well in these two parameters. Based on my experience with Sonata Hybrid I wouldn't buy the regular fuel cars ever again. Only electric or high economy hybrid.

Scary!
I thought this would be a good choice for many reasons. The gas mileage and for the environment. Plus I like Hyundai cars as I’ve owned an Elantra that lasted forever and they have a great warranty, but the hybrid to me is scary. First there is no room for a spare tire which makes me feel uneasy and the battery doesn’t charge while sitting in traffic so I had an issue with that not switching over to gas at the time. The car is so quiet you don’t even know if it’s on half the time. The check engine light keeps going on but they can’t figure out why. So I’m done with the hybrid of any kind. I still like Hyundai but no hybrids for me.
2017 Sonata Hybrid 147,000 Miles
I bought the car new in 2017. I currently have 147,000 miles on the car. Great car. Factory tires replaced at 72K. 2nd set replaced at 140k. Changed oil every 10K using Mobile full synthetic oil. Hyundia did injection cleaning service, full body throttle service and changed spark plugs at 140K. Headlight bulbs will go out at 60k consistency. Car got 40-42 mpg up to 140K miles. After 140K and service, mpg has slowly dropped to 32-37 mpg. Is this a sign that my hybrid battery is getting weak? Is there a way to test the hybrid battery or is it just going to die? At what point would Hyundia replace the Hybrid battery?

Pray your battery doesn’t fail
On September 3 I brought my car in for an acceleration issue. It was determined the hybrid battery was failing. It is now October 7 and my vehicle is still in the shop because apparently there are no batteries available. They can’t even tell me when one will be available. Unless you want to own a $10,000 paper weight don’t buy this car b
Solid Sonata
I have had this car for 3 months and have put 5100 miles on it. I love the ride and comfort. The dash is well laid out with simple controls. I have no complaints about this car.
