Used 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport SUV Consumer Reviews
Unsafe to drive
Leased (only 28 months left, if I don't get broad sided) 2017 Sante Fe 2.0T awd. Having hesitation issues when pulling into traffic. Very scary. Had vehicle back to dealer 3 times in 7 months. They claim that there is nothing wrong with the car. The computer diagnotics found no problems. Hyundai will not accept that there is a problem with these engines or transmissions until enough consumers complain or die. Not cost effective to repair at this time.

Similar to Mercedes
I recently rented a Mercedes 450 GLE for a week to test drive and was considering purchasing the smaller GLC, but stumbled upon this 2017 Sante Fe Unlimited. I can't say enough how much I love this SUV. It rides as good as the Mercedes GLE and the fit and finish is equally impressive. If you are looking for the utmost in safety, warranty, and features then I highly recommend the Sante Fe Sport Unlimited. 19 inch wheels along with a slew of upgrades brings the price point up to 40k, but it is worth every penny and still at least 15K less than a comparable Mercedes GLC. I believe that it is more sporty and stylish as well! The Ultimate 2.0 Turbo is the only engine to get as the basic seems underpowered and gas mileage is only affected by 1 MPG. Hyundai has come a long way in the past several years and are now starting to make some really products.

Was a Wedding gift for Wife and Shes scared of it
My wife has a 2007 Santa FE 115,000 miles and has given great service, she bought new ( Thankfully we did not trade it in on this P.O.S. ). That is the reason I decided to buy a new model, thought new model more dependable, that's what I get for thinking. Her concern was how the transmission shifted from a red light or stop sign getting ready to start up a hill, with driving the Sport myself similar situations I noticed that the transmission would shift to 2nd and then to 3rd. After that it was like the transmission had run out of fluid the engine would whine but the transmission would not shift until level ground . The other part she got frustrated with is the cruise control. I didn't fully grasp this until I drove it to work a couple times, I travel a four lane the speed limit is 55 so I set the cruise close to that, fudge a little. I live in the the lower part of South Carolina, with rolling hills so what they call them. As stated cruise is engaged the first valley I start into the cruise reacts shifts to fourth, climbing out the other side the transmission pulls that side in 5th without a struggle next valley I approach a little deeper than the first. This is where it gets weird start downhill the cruise makes the transmission to downshift to 5th then to 4th, then back to 5th before reaching the bottom the cruise at this point makes the transmission go from 5th to 3rd, as stated earlier WEIRD. Hyundai said this is the way the Programmers designed it and they were not going to hurt the little programmers feelings by telling them they SCREWED UP. Also the service advisor showed me in the owners manual, which I had already looked at, were it reads that you are not supposed to use the cruise control in hilly areas where you are unable to maintain constant speed ( Remember Rolling Hills South Carolina ) thought that was cruise control was made for to help the vehicle maintain a constant speed. The 07 Santa Fe travels thru this area without glitz, but when I tried to compare the two between the 07 and the 17 they told me quick the 07 has a V6 and the 17 a 4cylinder even though the 07 is a thousand pounds heavier than the 17 with a 100 plus thousand more miles. The other thing I was concerned about is the engine oil, I check it about every other week and when the 17 was getting close to 2000 miles. I noticed the residue on the dip stick was getting a little thick ( about like ash ) harder to clean the dipstick carried the 17 to the local dealer and inquired to see if it could be a problem 3 Hours later the 17 was returned to and said everything was normal. At 3000 miles decided it was time for an oil change still concerned about the residue, still thicker we carried the 17 back to the original dealer for the oil change. Told the service advisor about my concerns and his reply was that our SUV was on the recall list for engine replacement, so he went to run the numbers and returned a few minutes later and said our car was not on the list YET!!! and mentioned no more about the sediment or residue that was in the oil. Last but not least everyone that I have dealt with as of yet, with Hyundai ( Advisors, Techs, Case Workers, ETC. ) drive vehicles other than Hyundai products great reassurance with Hyundai cars and service there. GOTTA LOVE IT OR GO GO CRAZY AS HELL, I THINK WITH THIS PURCHASE I FELL INTO THE PIT ?????

Oil consumption
My 2017 would go through (burn) 4 quarts of oil within 1500-2000 miles I took it if for a scheduled 3000 mile annual oil change and was told that there was NO OIL in the car, the dipstick was dry. after adding 15 quarts in a 5 month period I was done. Google 'Oil Consumption' for this model and read all the horror stories like engines seizing at 34k miles. I didn't want to risk having the engine seize knowing Hyundia wouldn't stand behind the issue,(100k warranty? yeah ok) I didn't even want to deal with the dealership or the company so I traded it,,Never again will I buy a Kia or a Hyundai. Back to a Honda and I'm very happy

Wife loves it wish I never bought, fuel pump ?
the GOOD BAD AND ugLY Car is attractive and quite nicely done Sport AWD Ultimate very nimble excellent execution, turns on a dime and handles .corners excellent...we have 30 thousand miles on it mostly city miles..........I wish I never bought it. never had such a uncomfortable drivers seat..the rest of the seats are comfortable. enough.the driver seat itself is hard as a rock to sit on .Seat materials are high quality ...the seat is short in depth front to back and do not pick up thighs ....nor does the seat tilt like I would like...the back rest tilts but not the seat which only goes up and down and back and forward..the car is like a nanny watching for safety and it takes time to figure out all the technology....my big gripe and I am pissed that on a 4 cylinder driving carefully in the city in econo I am getting an average of 16 mpg ...that is right in city careful driving 16 mpg on a 4 cylinder Turbo with AWD ..come on Hyundai false advertising on mileage buyers should be seeking recourse....would never had bought the car if I new it had that bad of language ......would never have bought the car if I new my prostrate would suffer every time I had to drive it.....but as I say my wife loves it I should have given her the bill.....the entertainment and technology is very well done and quality materials thru out...go out an rent one and drive it for a week before you decide......believe pathfinder SL in 4 wheel drive and so is highlander SE. are better buys............if the car had a comfortable drivers seat and was actually 19 24 it be a good one ....I just wish I could get my money back ...Car list 39,800 I paid 34,200 plus 3300 Tax 500 DMV 1700 for prepaid maint for 7 yrs and 2000 for extended bumper to bumper warranty Note be very careful extended warranties are not Hyundai they are dealer warranty good luck if dealer in business.....Fuel Pump just went out at 20 k and warranty work performed . Now 5 yrs old and used car value about 25k....car is very quick with 2t .....The car handles ideally in city but uncomfortable and too small for 4 hour or more road trips . Technology is sound and no gripes. The car has proven to be reliable without issues
