Bear in mind at the time I am writing this review I have only put a little over 1,000 miles on my SEL premium package but at this point, at 73 years old, I can say this is the most comfortable vehicle I have ever owned. I came to that conclusion after not being tired or sore after a 300+ mile road trip. Some of my previous vehicles have been Mercedes E class, Genesis 3.8, Infiniti M & Q plus a BMW 328. The interior is very spacious which is important to my wife and I since we are both 6+ footers. Some have complained of wind noise at speed but we have not detected any and find the cabin very quite. On our road trip we got a respectable 27 mpg. All the reviews I have read put the Palisade right at the top and for good reason. I highly recommend.

2021 Hyundai Palisade Limited 4dr SUV (3.8L 6cyl 8A)

I loved my 2021 Hyundai Palisade for the first 6 months I had it. But at just under 14,000 miles it powered down in the fast lane on the interstate. An alarm went off and there was a message on the dash that said “shift to P or N to start engine”. Silly me…I thought the engine was running since I was in traffic. It started slowing down and I was fortunately able to cross 4 lanes of traffic to get to the shoulder. I turned the car off and started it again. I made it a little over a mile before it happened again. I got a message on my screen not to drive the car anymore and it had a number for Hyundai BlueLink. I called the number and they got a tow truck to have my car towed to the dealership. I was told at the dealership that they had no loaner vehicles for me to drive, and it would take 1 MONTH for them to evaluate what happened to my car. I had to rent a vehicle to get me to work. I called customer care and was told I had a case number and I should be assigned to a case manager in 4 business days. I called at 4 business days and they told me it would be 10 business days. I traded in the Palisade because I had lost all faith in the company and the vehicle itself. I continued to communicate with my case manager who eventually told me they would not reimburse me for my rental fees as that is not part of their warranty. Had I not traded it in I would have been out a full month of rental fees, a monthly payment on a new car I could not drive, and I likely would still have no answers. The look of the Palisade is great. Their interior styling is fantastic. But their reliability and customer service are poor. I hope to keep someone else from making the same mistake I did.

Love My Palisade Calligraphy

2021 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy 4dr SUV AWD (3.8L 6cyl 8A)

I purchased a 2021 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy last August. I have driven it almost 2,500 miles and so far, so good. It is extremely quite and has a great ride. I was very interested in the safety features of a 3rd row SUV and the amenities. After looking at Honda, Toyota, Subaru, and Hyundai, I chose the Palidade. It has the most up-to-date features of all the others and has a superior rating in comparison. I have been super pleased with my purchase. The tank size is a bit small at 18.8 gallons. Filled, it has a range of just under 400 miles in mixed driving. Average mileage has been around 20.3 mpg which isn't great but isn't bad either for this size of vehicle. Also, power has been great for all my needs. 3rd row seating has good room. I have had adults ride in the 3rd row several times and no complaints. Update. I have now had my Palisade Calligraphy a year and 10 month. It just turned over to 18,000 miles. I am still very happy with my purchase. As described previously, it still has a great ride and is very quiet. I have enjoyed the car very much and would purchase one again if purchasing a new car.

My wife and I traded our 2018 Honda Odyssey for the 2021 Palisade SEL AWD. She had really wanted a Telluride, but since they are like finding a two-headed unicorn, she settled for trying out a Palisade. She had wanted the Moss Green Telluride so we found a "Rainforest" with black interior SEL two hours away from us. We called the dealer and they held it for us to come see it. She was immediately impressed with seeing it in person and thought it feels more like a Lexus than a Hyundai. I agree. This vehicle rides VERY well and looks amazing. Since they wouldn't deal with me on the Palisade (paid sticker like everyone else), I was able to get them up on my very clean trade-in. Pros for the Palisade so far: Ride quality Build quality Features for the money at the SEL price ($41K in my case) Seat comfort Safety features Cons so far: No memory seats for drivers (my wife and I vary greatly so that will be missed from the Odyssey) No Sirius XM radio built in the SEL (REALLY, Hyundai???) so we have to use the app/CarPlay/Android Auto. Headlights at night are not strong (as I later saw noted at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety iihs.org site) on the left side for some reason. We have bright white LEDs, but it had a dark spot driving at night) My overall grade after two days: A-

I bought a 21 Palisade 12/26/20 since then I have issues with the electrical such as unlocking the doors and the radio disconecting. I have had 3 cracked windshield and 2 cracked front passenger windows. Also when selecting Drive, Reverse or Park I have to press a few times sometimes for them to actually engage. This to me seems like a safety issue but Huyandai does not think so since they can not make it happen in front of them they will not even entertain the issue. Would I buy another Huyandai...probably not unless something happens to fix these issues.

I am about two weeks in ~1000 miles. My other cars are a Porsche Cayenne and Porsche Boxster. We traded in a POS Jeep Grand Cherokee for the Palisade. In short, this vehicle is awesome. Get the Calligraphy trim (which is really last year's limited + hideous rims). Aside from the rims, the car drives really well and the engine is plenty enough, unlike the other cars we were considering (e.g., 2022 Acura MDX). The car feels luxurious but you won't feel guilty about actually using in it as a family. The ride is plush and the suspension travel is minimal. Brakes are good too. As far as the features, that's really where this car shines. For $50K (no we didn't pay over sticker) you get pretty much everything you'd want including pretty decent autonomous cruise control (with hands on wheel). The stereo sounds decent but won't match something like a Bose, Burmester, or B&O - properly configured through it's fine and you'll get used to it. Some owners have complained about wind noise but mine is very quiet from both wind and road noise. The second and third rows are very spacious but I wish you could get the bench seat in the upper trims. The space behind the third row is great and easy enough to get out stroller. Very few things we don't like but here are a few: no hitch from the factory ($800 dealer installed), no wireless carplay on upper trims but yes on lower trims (??), stop hold needs to be engaged every time you turn on the car. That's it for now. Will post more once we have more time/ miles on it. **Update 3/9/21: A few more nits. (1) fuel tank is small, prepare to fill up often, (2) the top end doesn't have dimming side mirrors. This should be a deal breaker if you drive at night. (3) doesn't have power folding mirrors. I am adjusting it by a star given these shortcomings.

Highly recommend buying this car. I’ve been car shopping for awhile now and this car was the best option at the best value. The exterior with its grill and wheels gives it a nice look on the road. The interior is luxurious and practical. I was blown away by all the features like heads up display, multiple camera angles, cooling/heating seats and my all time favorite passenger talk. The kids love the large moon roof and all the usb outlets. Most importantly even the kids in the third row are comfortable. This was a step up from our Toyota Sienna and we don’t regret buying this car at all. If you need a car that will seat all your kids comfortably and drive everyone in style at a reasonable price then this is the one for you.

Palisade SEL

In purchased this vehicle on Sept 31. 2020. It has 2 packages that add a lovely array of features that make it worth every penny spent . The interior is quality. Functionality is above par . The third row seats adults comfortably( I’m six feet tall and I fit fine) the only thing is that Hyundai should include the upgraded stereo in the technology package. Is an ok system but I would really like the Harmon Kardon system better. The ride is great but doesn’t appear to take bumps well, I believe this to be the tires that Hyundai uses. I will upgrade them soon to see if this resolves the issue. Mileage has been fair , but not great , about 25 MPG on the highway . City about 19. The exterior of this vehicle is stunning. Way more elegant than the Kia Telluride. I love the look and design of this SUV. Overall after about 1000 miles this SUV has far exceeded my expectations . My wife loves it too. Overall after looking at the Honda Pilot and several other competitors the Hyundai Palisade is head and shoulders above the competitors. A warranty that is 5/60k bumper to bumper and a power train warranty of 10yrs/ 100k miles is amazing . I’m confident that this will put a smile on our faces for years to come. Proud to have this beauty in my Garage .

Great SUV for tall people!

My husband is 6'4" and has a very hard time finding a car that provides enough head and legroom, and usually the person who has to sit behind him suffers due to his seat position. We were on the hunt for an SUV that would provide generous head and legroom for the first two rows, and preferably all three rows. The Palisade won us over immediately! It is so spacious, my husband can actually comfortably sit behind his own front seat position. We have two boys who are also going to be very tall, so this is great for all. We also were blown away by the smooth ride quality, quiet interior, and upscale interior. We researched and test drove the Highlander, Enclave, Q7, RX-L, and 2022 Acura MDX. The Palisade won by a long shot. They could charge much more for this SUV. The biggest headache was locating one. We purchased the Calligraphy trim and had lots of drama from dealers. Our local dealer wanted $10K over MSRP and told us if we won't pay it, someone else will. We walked out. After numerous calls to dealers without any luck, we found one 2 hours away for typical asking price. So, be careful and check what they are trying to charge you - because these are in high demand some dealers are taking advantage of the situation.

Purchased an AWD Palisade less than 2 weeks ago and it has been in the shop for two days. Rotated and balanced tires and said the vibration was fixed but humming was still there. Picked vehicle up and the vibration was worst. Vehicle is back at the shop. I did a ton of research before purchasing this vehicle and am very disappointed and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We really love our 2021 Palisade! Unfortunately, you have to deal with a dealership after the purchase for warranty work. Our local dealership here in Brandon, Fl is a nightmare when it comes to service. Te drivers side window stopped working and fell/cracked into the door. When my wife stopped by the dealership with our 2 kids in the back, she was told that there was nothing they could do to help. No loaner, no rental, no help getting a rental. Also, you can leave it here but no promise when we can get to it. This happened 11-9 and the parts were not going to be in until the 20th. Now its December and I just got a call that it was on backorder. Nightmare and no help from Hyundai USA as well. I have a case and case manager but havent heard from him yet. I started calling him now that I have his extension. No luck there. The good news is that I'm so mad at Hyundai local & USA that I haven't had a chance to be terrified that the motor/window broke @ 6 months 4k miles... lol. I really want to be a Hyundai cheerleader but unfortunately, I'm experiencing what I hoped they had resolved as a company. Buyer beware... read the bad reviews as well as the 5 star. Hope this helps someone. Update... we found a great dealership buts it's 25 miles away. Not the biggest deal but we have to drive past 2 awful Hyundai dealerships to get there.

Bottom Line: If you want premium flashy lights and gizmo’s that work sometimes like the ones in a BMW or Acura at a discount this is your car. But, be ready for bargain level customer support and service from the manufacturer despite the efforts of the dealership. Hyundai IS NOT BMW or Acura and I really feel for the Genesis customers. I think I proved this since the dealership I use is part of a larger group and never let me down with a competing brand. I guess you can’t put lipstick on a ……… First issue: 2021 palisades calligraphy bought new and now has ~13k miles. When car was new a horrible vibration was detected. Dealer began investigation. We found that as tires wore out the vibration went away. However tires now had unusual wear, a feathering pattern. When rotated front to back, the non-feathered tires quickly had the same unusual wear. The fronts are where the feathering occurs. Dealer gracious to rotate and balance these every 5-7000 miles and each time alignment on all 4 tires are in spec. Hyundai corporate does nothing and blames manufacturer. Dealer helps you contact manufacturer. Manufacturer is useless and claims this is typical wear. Most likely a crappy tire as rated on Tire Rack. So much for premium Hyundai and Premium Bridgestone products. Second: 2021 palisade comes with 4 free oil changes every 7500 miles, and dealer puts a sticker on window for next service at 7500 miles. Hmmm after asking I’m told they use conventional oil. I asked dealer and Hyundai corporate for the conventional oil manufacturer who states their product is good for 7500 miles. No answer. To which I say fine give me 4 free oil changes at 3750 and I’ll decide what to do after that. Apparently that’s not allowed and you’ll be shown a list of mileage exceptions which basically say if you push your car uphill with the engine off you’ll get 7500 miles on a conventional oil and filter. Dealer (service manager) is very helpful but Hyundai did not respond to my questions when I opened a customer case asking for data related to the fluids and their specifications. They simply follow a script, don’t listen, and close the case on you like a bot to avoid breaking an SLA. Third: Take car in for Bluetooth and radio default station issues and find out I have a radiator leak. Car is now unusable for 4 weeks while we wait for backordered radiator. Loaner? Well dealership gave me a Kona skate to drive. Wait I have a family of 4 and 2 dogs. Well seems the larger vehicle which was going to be added to the fleet was “sold” that weekend. I’ve asked them to put it on Hyundai for supply chain issues and to rent me a vehicle. This was done before at another brand when they had a parts issue. Oh wait this is Hyundai the lipstick wearing sow we’re talking about….

Vibration at speeds of 67+ in Calligraphy AWD

I strongly recommend against the Calligraphy AWD. Ours has a vibration at speeds of 67+ MPH. The dealership has balanced the tires, changed the coupler, changed the drive shaft, and now have a rear differential on (back) order. It’s a lemon, and corporate is NOT taking actions to resolve the issue.

Purchased the Palisade in early September.. so far it has been excellent. I’m in my late 70’s and have owned GMC, Fords, Chevy’s, Olds, BMW 3&5 series, Genesis, and even a Peugeot (obviously an early Monday morning manufacture). The Palisade is an extremely comfortable vehicle. It doesn’t handle like a BMW, but the ride is fabulous on an old bum. No wind noise, maybe a little at 80+ with a crosswind, but overall very quiet. The safety features still a amaze me for the price point, good (25) mileage at 75-80, and enough room for adult toys. HTRAC is stable in snow, and the vehicle has enough oompf to keep you out of trouble. After buying so many vehicles in 60+ years, this one is excellent for a midsize SUV.

Get the right dealership, makes all the difference. Van Horn in Sheboygan helped set the expectations. The car is a dream. I got the Limited. Always wondered if all the bells & whistles were worth it. They are on this car. Quiet ride, comfortable seating, great radio, climate control works as it should. I was worried about all the set up but between the dealership & Hyundai’s set up screens it was a breeze. In an hour it was all done & operational. The adaptive cruse is awesome along with lane assist. It almost drives itself. Cargo area is large. The engine is quiet but powerful with enough energy to move out when you want to. I’ve been with Hyundai since 2011& have been watch the reviews on the Palisade for about a year, also watching the Kia, but decided I liked the Palisade style better. Always have been happy with the vehicle’s performance hence staying with a proven winner. It has not been disappointing

I was trying to decide between the Kia tell you ride in this car. I am so glad I went with the Hyundai. The interior is full of luxury and technology. The exterior looks sharp and I prefer the rims on the palisade over the Telluride. If you’re thinking about getting one just go out and do it. You won’t be disappointed.

We appreciate the amount of careful planning that went into this Hyundai that makes us feel safe while driving. The Calligraphy offers everything we needed in an upgrade from our smaller SUV. We decided as we age we wanted a safe cocoon to travel in for our trips to snow country. Especially important was that our car could be serviced in our community. We have grandchildren that will fill the extra seating in this car, as needed. They are very excited to have options available to them as they enjoy the ride. The space in our cargo area gives us more than enough room to travel with golf clubs. All the seats down give us a very large capacity for transporting just about anything. We carefully researched the Palisade at Edmunds, my favorite research site. The process was very helpful to enable us to make our decision when purchasing this vehicle.

I bought this vehicle at this time to take a family of eight on summer vacay. Three small kids fit in the very rear seat well. Three average adults on the middle bench? Not as well. But, doable. And luggage for that many is limited to three carry-ons and a couple of small duffels. The car drives very well. Composed, quiet, comfortable with plenty of power for the mountains. I couldn't be happier with two exceptions: One, it's the first car I ever paid sticker price for. (But, after much searching most dealers were charging $3,000 over sticker.) Second, at 500 miles the car started leaking coolant thru the exhaust. WTH? Turned out to be a faulty heater hose. Disaster averted!

When snow accumulates in the wiper wells the wipers spontaneously STOP. This has happened to me on multiple occasions. Most recently (2/07/22) while driving in the dark. Suddenly the windshield is covered with snow and unable to see. Was lucky to pull over safely and took 45 minutes to clear the wells while in danger of being run over in the dark.

Palisade SEL review

I’ve had my Palisade for 5 months and it was one of my best choices this year. I always drove a Tahoe loaded and this year I test the Tahoe, Telluride and Palisade and the Telliride and Palisade where close in the drive and price but the SEL with the comfort package had easier controls and the same ride. The Tahoe was about 20k more expensive, had a shorter warantee and they haven’t really changed much over the past 10 years I highly recommend test driving one and you won’t believe this is the Hyundai we knew years ago. They’re now making a product that is better than Chevy, GMC, Toyota (for this size suv), and the other dealers who typically had better ones and I always paid more for the piece of mind. This is not a cheap SUV, for roughly 40k I got a fully loaded SEL with heated leather, all power and safety you’d want in a high end SUV. Even the little things are built well. They heat the second row seats and the third row is leather. It has a touch screen but they didn’t get rid of the knobs for simple things like radio or heat controls so it’s easy to drive and in the recent snows the H track reminded me of my Jeep years ago, it modifies the weight to the wheels not slipping without any noticeable movements...you just don’t spin wheels often. I have three kids and two large dogs and we all fit with ease.

We wanted to get something a bit larger than our Toyota 4-Runner, and man it is roomier. Lots wider, longer and tons of cargo space, and it gets 20% better gas mileage. Tons of power, and that AWD knows how to pull into the curves. We'll be driving up to our cabin with 3 dogs and 3 people and a bunch of equipment and supplies to get it ready for summer rental.

I LOVE MY CAR!!!! Palisade won me at the first test drive. I test drove others but this was IT. I bought it brand new in February and Friday, April 30th... it stopped accelerating. I was at a greenlight and it made a loud sound and stopped and stopped it accelerating. my whole car shook.. I thought the car behind me hit me. I pulled over and it made the noise again, I pressed on the break and it moved very then stopped accelerating again. I put it in reverse and it jolted when shifting gears. I had it towed back to Hyundai. I'm sad because I LOVE this car and it only had 14 miles on when I bought it... it now has 4,456... still very low....I wasn't expecting car trouble after 2 months. 5 stars before car trouble.

2021 Palisade SEL 100% Satisfied: 35K mile update.

November 2023 update: At 35K miles, the Palisade still continues to impress with no major or even moderate issues. Still averaging 22MPG which is fine for me but may be high for others. The only ‘quality gremlin’ is a nonfunctional usb port in the third row seat. Nota big deal as we hardly use the third 💺. I will post another update at 50K in late 2024. Since my first initial review (July 21), our 21 Palisade continues to impress with no major issues. MPG Driving 70% highway miles 30% around town and I average 23MPG which is respectable and seems to have improved since brand new. Reliability issues? Nothing extraordinary. At my 10K oil change the service tech noted the battery was weak and replaced under warranty but I had not even noticed anything unusual. Oil issues? I’ve seen a few posts from folks with horror stories regarding oil usage. In July I noticed just under half a quart was burned in 3,500 miles which well within reasonable standards and tolerances. (Note: even though Hyundai and other car brands swear by 7,500 mile oil changes I have my oil changed between 4,500 and 5,000). Wind noise? From my perspective, I have not noticed any excessive wind noises reported by others. Strangely….I do notice a noticeable increase in noise when the rear seats are folded down. Winter traction (from previous post) For those considering buying a used 2021 Palisade with factory Hancook Noble tires beware……the snow traction is horrible. I switched out to Crossclimate 2s which have amazing winter traction without sacrificing dry or wet traction. When I say ‘amazing winter traction’ this is not an exaggeration! Last winter I was literally able to drive into our back yard with a moderate grade and 20+ inches of powdered snow! I will provide another update by mid 2023. Cheers!

I have looked and researched so many SUV’s from Chevy to Toyota to Dodge to Kia and let’s just say Hyundai is where it’s at.. I was recently in a very bad accident so I have been scarred to drive but with this vehicle there are so MANY safety features that it makes me feel a bit more safer driving now. Plus I have 3 kids so the 3rd makes it even better and plenty of space. I highly recommend this suv

Lots of plastic

I recently purchased a 2021 Palisade. The car runs good and although there is less than 5,000 on it, I do consider it a good purchase. My major issues is the front end of the vehicle. It is made entirely out of plastic. In the first couple of thousand miles, a car in front of me kicked up a small rock and it hit the front lower valance causing a golf ball sized hole. I took the car back to the dealership expecting them to warranty the plastic. My mistake. They are saying the bumper did not fail so they are not going to warranty the part. Putting thin plastic on the front of the car knowing it will be picking up road debris and not covering damage it under warranty is just not right. The parts and labor is going to cost me around 500 dollars and having to pay this before my first service pisses me off. I have owned Honda's for a long time and have never had any problems. I should have bought Passport. Live and learn.

This is a good SUV. I have one problem with it, terrible road and wind noise. The cabin is not correctly soundproofed. The traffic noise is so loud on the highway it sounds like you're driving with the windows open when they are closed. The Glass they used on windows is not adequately soundproofed.

What an amazing vehicle! Hyundai has risen the bar, and all you other car manufacturers better pay attention. The design is striking. Talk about making it’s presence known. It definitely has that “Wow!” Factor. I was flagged down in the parking lot (thought something was wrong l). I stopped and rolled down my window, and the gentleman said “wow, this looks so great in person. I read all the great reviews! I’m trading in my 2017 Toyota Highlander for this bad boy!” The quality of the jnterior, the space, infotainment, connectivity, the ride quality are all EXCELLENT. Of you are shopping for a mid sized SUV (2 or 3 rows), you must put this on your short list. You must test drive. You will be getting the best value around.

What a great car! Words can’t explain how pleased I am with my Palisade. I’ve owned many cars during my 71 years and this one beats them all. It’s easy to drive, smoothest ride ever, plenty of pick and very comfortable no matter which seat you’re riding in. The Palisade gives you the most luxury for the money. I would recommend this SUV to everyone interested in this type of vehicle.

Great look but (Warning) The thing that keeps you in your lane (Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)) I think thats what it is called would not shut off after I turned it off and the dealer did not know what to do!, And there was a lot of wind and road noise, Ride was not great either it was just kinda ok, Steering is to slow, It leans a little in curves and turns.Very dissapointing for $50,000 I am sorry but it would be a streach to give it 2 stars from me, Oh and it only has a 18.8 gallon gas tank strange!! for that size suv. QUESTION: why do all the midsize suv's have such a small gas tank? Subaru ascent has the biggest and it is only 19.something Why?

Loved this car when i first got it a year ago but there are a few issues. There are no memory settings for driving modes. so each and every time you start the car you have to make whatever adjustments you want. it resets to the defaults every time you turn the car off. why have them if that’s the case? (I prefer to drive my car and not have the car drive me.) wind noise. There is significant wind noise around the drivers window.

2021 Caligraphy after 1 year. Front Camera failure prevents Cruise control and forward park assist to work. This car not designed for cold weather because a little snow will stop the wipers from working, the doors freeze shut very easily, ABS is questionable and rough operating. Tailgate opens when you walk around the back of the car with key in your pocket. Some of the features need to be reset each time you start the car. Almost everything else about the vehicle is pleasing.

Dont buy this pile of crap.. Quality issues galore. The brake fluid issue is a joke and a glimpse into the hyundai quality concerns. Engine has been using oil and I dont have a leak. Not the best on gas either. Sooner or later, there will be a hyundai recall coming for something basic that they managed to design poorly.

The best car I have ever rode in or drove!! I love this car. My son for once finally feels safe in a vehicle and that was a big deal for me. After a bunch of research my husband and I went out and got the limited edition and I couldn’t be more impressed. This car is going to be my forever car. I turn heads driving through our town. The inside is so comfortable. I can’t wait to take this on a family vacation. The gas mileage keeps getting better and better. My husband and I both fit in the 3rd row seat comfortable. He is 6’2 and 300 pounds and it was comfortable for both of us. This car over exceeds the other vehicles I test drove. The parking cameras are my favorite. I love how when our dog is out it tells me if she is coming to close to the sides or front and back ends so I know to stop. Backing up and not seeing anything then something comes flying by it alerted me on that. The seats are so very comfortable. I had a Kia suv and that seat is so uncomfortable I will never go back. We got hit with an ice/snow storm the weekend we bought ours and that car was AMAZING! If you are between buying a palisade or something else, do yourself a favor and go test drive one. I love driving now again thanks to this car

Hyundai has raised the bar for all the other brands need to reach. This isn’t a race car! Keep in mind, this is a 7/8 seater SUV. Hyundai’s top trim competes with the luxury brands.
