Purchased new 2011 in late August 2010. Just completed 520 trip in 8 hours averaging 65 mph and 31.7 mpg while cruising at 80 mph. Rides very comfortably and drives with the greatest of ease. MSRP was 33.8 and drove it out the door for $27K even. No trade in. Do not believe any domestic or foreign automobile is better at less then $60K. Maybe an Equus but I would be surprised if performance or comfort was better...maybe a little faster on a race track. With over 15,000 miles on it now, the car turns in better mileage. Have had no problems whatsoever. Apparently it has even appreciated a bit from its year ago out the door price. Can you find a car that does not depreciate ?

Quicker than you think

This car is much quicker than you think. It is so smooth and quite that your speed builds extremely fast within a very few seconds. The Tech package is great. If you want a sports car don't buy this one. If you want a combination of luxury, power, comfort and tech features then this is the auto for you. The bang for the buck factor is off the charts. I ran it through our local drag strip at 13.8 sec @ 104.32 mph. Very impressive. I also went on vacation and averaged 28.5 on the highway! This is amazing for a 385 hp V8.

Looked at BMW, Mercedes, and Audi, then I drove the Hyundai Genesis. Found everything I wanted for $20,000 less in the Genesis! The Hyundai Genesis is truly amazing. For not much more than a fully loaded Accord or Camry, you get a luxurious car with the interior space of a BMW 7, the exterior size of a BMW 5, at less cost than a BMW 3. And you get a 17-speaker Lexicon sound system that is found on only one other car in the world: the Rolls Royce Phantom. The Hyundai Genesis is far and away your best luxury car value.

2 weeks ago purchased 2011 4.6 with deep discounts from dealer ($35,200 plus dealer fee and TTL). Traded my 2004 BMW530. Gave up some driving dynamics for a more soft ride and more body roll than I am used too but the increase in raw power and luxury features plus 20k staying in my pocket feels well worth it. Genesis has worked flawlessly and very enjoyable to drive. Highly recommend this vehicle so far.

This car is simply amazing. I looked at 50 cars and test drove a dozen before buying this car. I had my list down to the A6 and Genesis. While the A6 is a great car, a comparably equipped Genesis was 20K less than the A6 (in fact the Genesis has a cooled driver's seat which is not even an option for on the highest trim A6). I've had my Genesis for a month and no trouble at all: it's fast and smooth. The only reason not the buy this car over BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Audi, Jaguar, Infiniti, Acura is brand name. I'm not that vain, and don't care what my neighbors think. If the Hyundai logo on the tail bothers you, you can replace it with wings for $100, it makes the car look like a Bentley.

This is written June 2018, just a heads up for those thinking of a Genesis. We purchased new and still have it. In seven years it has not had one repair or one breakdown. This is my wife's car and she would not trade it for anything! I do all the maintenance and service it is for sure the easiest car to maintain ever( maybe all new cars are) brakes at about 55000, tires at about 50000 and we now have 88000 and going strong. I highly recommend the Genesis. Another update Dec 2019---- Recently replaced the tires, still going strong, use it every day and still no repairs, now we are retired so we no longer commute so the miles have not reached 90,000

I must say I never get tired of driving the Genesis. The power has kept me out of at least two crashes. Its is an outstanding vehicle. I use the adaptive cruise control most everyday and it works flawlessly in traffic. The sound system is the best I have ever heard in any car. Would I buy another Genesis? Yes, without hesitation. As an aside I also own a BMW and the fit and finish of the Genesis is better and so far the Genesis has been much more reliable, In fact the Genesis has only needed routine service.

Having owned some of the competitors to the Genesis such as BMW 5 series and Audi A6, I can honestly say this vehicle is very, very comparable in almost every aspect, with the exceptions being the price and badge. The ride feels like a combination of cushion provided by clouds and solidity offered by my previous BMW 535. Right in the middle and smooth as silk.I initially wanted to wait for the 5.0 R-Spec which looks even more impressive by the way, but after my first test drive of the 4.6, I was sold. Funny thing is, I consider myself to be a savvy shopper who conducts diligent research, but the Genesis happened to be my first test drive and I never test drove any other brand!

Test drove BMW 3/5 series, Audi A4/6, Mercedes C/E, Infiniti G/M, Lexus IS/E/G, and bought the Genesis. If dollars were equal, I would now own a loaded BMW 535, A6, Infiniti M37, or MB E350. The challenge became the incredible value of the not-so-prestigious Hyundai! Heated and Cooled seats (not ventilated... COOLED!), back-up camera, Lexicon sound system (AMAZING!!!), HID directional lights, auto-hold brakes, adaptive cruise control... if you can live without brand prestige, the value of this car is off the charts! 20,000 miles, zero problems, accelerates very strong, drives great, and I love it. No regrets at all. Would absolutely buy it again!

Have owned Volvo, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Mercedes and Infiniti over the years. This car is as good or better than any of them. Bought 3.8 with Premium package (no navi) for 31,343.00 (sticker at $36,500 including $1500 Hyundai incentive). For this price so much better than Maxima, LaCrosse, Taurus, C-Class, E-350. Drives as sommoth as my lexus but has more road feel. Driven over 2,000 miles and cannot say enough good..quiet, responsive, great handling. I am 6'3" and have headroom. BUY THIS CAR!!!

Purchased a CPO 2011 4.6 with all the options 6 months ago. Have put about 12K miles on it since then and love it to death. I can get 28 - 30 on the highway at speed if I'm not obnoxious with it. You definitely don't want for power or luxury goodies in this one. I always said I'd never buy anything that wasn't a BMW, but they aren't made like they used to be and this one seems to be. If you detest the 'feel' of most newer cars, check this one out. Steering that feels like your actually connected to something and isn't overly light. A ride that is communicative and design that is well thought out.

I've had this car for 7 months, 8000 miles of both local and highway driving. Replaced an 06 Acura TL...no comparison! Performance and ride are great. Averaging 27 mpg hwy, 22 in town. The ride is comparable to the 525 I had prior to the TL. For the money, this car can't be beat! Maintenance costs (oil chgs) to date average $40! Biggest flaw I can find is the trunk interior is not the most lavish...better (trunk) carpeting would be an improvement. This car makes you want to take the long way!

Miracle. Needed a bigger car--love my Audis and my 3-series BMW but couldn't afford their big siblings. This car has great power and performance for its size, not as quiet or rock solid as an Audi but did you see the price? If you need absolute rock solid, get an Audi and be happy. If you need pretty rock solid and a stone cold bargain, here's your ride. Matches Audi on features, comfort. Almost there on driving dynamics. This is a quiet car, just not a Buick. If you need whisper silence you can either spend a crapload on Audis or get a stereo installer to Dynamat your Genesis. I just may do that. It'll probably be quiet as a tomb after that, for minimal cost.

Also have a 300 BMW and a C class Mercedes. Handling is more toward the BMW and the ride more toward the MB. Surprisingly good mileage in town. It is a very comfortable car for extended road trips. Easy installation of child seats (anchored hooks) when the grandkids are in town. Rear seating leg room is very good for older adults. No quality problems or parts failure!!

Fun to drive and wonderful on long freeway trips. average mpg is 24. The 4.6 V8 has very good acceleration, 0 to 60 in 5.3 seconds, leaves BMWs in its dust. Very good seats and easy to get in and our of. The adaptive cruise is the one of the best features.

Have owned two of these cars. First one was a 3.8L, after a few months was disappointed with the power and shifting . A little to herky jerky for my taste. Traded in on a 4.6L and upgraded two years. Now I have the car I expected and desired. No comparison between engines. 4.6 was far and away superior for my taste. I will be upgrading soon and will go for the 5.0 just because of the smoothness and overall "feel" of the power. I accept a couple miles per gallon downside, but worth it to me.

This style Hyundai Genesis is more comfortable than the newer models and even the G80. The seats are incredibly comfortable. Ride is quiet, smooth, reliable. Car handles well, accelerates extremely well, and has better than expected gas mileage especially for a V8. I like the 4.6 V8 vs the 5.0 V8.

In less than a week this car has knocked my socks off. This is our first foray into the upscale market, we had been Honda devotees. This car has the best brakes, acceleration, quietness, space, and safety ratings, I've ever experienced. The "driver information system" has more features than I can count and the sound system is Superior.

I love almost everything about this 2011 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 vehicle. The 3 cons are, the seats are not comfortable after riding over 1 hour, long trips are hell. engine cold start goes beserk every winter when the temperature is cold it idles so rough you can’t drive it. I bring to the dealerships and they always say they can’t find nothing wrong. The electric system goes haywire sometimes like windows won’t go up or down, radio won’t come on and the engine won’t start. Turn everything off and walk away and 5 minutes later everything works fine. They got some serious qurks in the electrical system. I would not buy another Hyundai Genesis.

Traded 2009 3.8 to 2011 4.6

I traded my 2009 3.8 Tech package for a 2011 4.6. I was very happy with the 2009 3.8, so I'm a repeat buyer. I even got the same color - Titanium metallic. Beyond the beefier motor, the things that are pleasant enhancements in the new car are: - Adaptive Cruise control - Navigation and EIS seem snappier - Bluetooth - I was never able to download my address book in the 2009 3.8 - but it worked the first time in the 2011. I bought this car in Jan 2013 with 19k miles. I was considering a BMW 550 or A6 4.2, but my Genesis was exactly HALF the price of an equivalent German sedan (I paid $25k all included, in mint condition, with warranty until forever). And my genesis is quieter, safer and more reliable than any BMW or Audi, too. I had some qualms about the lack of a premium badge, but now I consider it a point of pride: I look at a guy in a BMW and think of the extra $25k I have in the bank...

This is my second time purchasing a Genesis. First one was 2012, the current one is 2011. The 2012 was a great car but after about two years I really wanted a Cadillac CTS which was a nice car but they charge for every little amenity. Their packages seem to leave out some of the best features. But after getting rid of that vehicle and dealing with Mercedes and BMW, I feel like I get the most for my money with Genesis. And much better reliability than the other brands.

I have been driving a BMW 530i and as much as I loved my bimmer, it was not such a reliable vehicle. I truly expected more quality in the BMW. I traded it for the 2011 Genesis 4.6 and could not be more pleased. The Genesis out did the BMW 530i as far as the interior. It is roomy, well appointed and has many more features than the bimmer. This model is fully loaded. I could not ask more, what else could I want? I will updated my post in a couple of months.

The Genesis is overall a great car to own. Very comfortable and easy to drive. Steering is a little loose and it feels big, only because it is. For a larger person, I'm about 6'4'' 190lbs, I feel very free in this car. Maintenance is expensive but the service that Hyundai provides has been great. The entertainment system is one of the best I've ever experienced! Bluetooth is difficult for the 2011 model because its an older system which will not allow you to listen to your music. Fuel economy is pretty good for a V8 and power is exceptional.

We've admired the Genesis line ever since we first saw them at our local auto show back when this particular car was made. Recently, my wife's daily driver had to be replaced, and so the search for her next car began. We never thought we would cross paths with a Genesis we could afford that would be worth buying, but it happened and we did buy it. The night before we went to see the car we found an online video review of this exact car that had just recently been done. The young man stated he was a BMW fan, and was reviewing the Genesis expecting to not like it. He not only praised it for all of its merits (which he felt were numerous), but he also was very enthused that a nine-year-old car was still so solid, quiet and ran so well. This encouraged us as we went to see and test drive the Genesis we had found. Well, we too were very impressed by this car's build quality, amenities, condition and how well it ran. We felt the asking price was a bargain compared to other like makes in this class. We never set out looking for what is to us a luxury car, but the Genesis is a complete package, offering leather interior, fantastic sound system, the best brakes I've ever driven with, more than excellent leg room, great comfortable seats, unreal air handling system, excellent ability to see out in all directions, sun/moon roof, navigation system, six-speed automatic, a really strong V8 and the perfect blend of sporty, yet comfortable ride and handling! There's so much more (like air bags that even cover the rear seat passengers!) that I could go on, but I won't. Suffice it to say that the feeling we had way back when we sat in that first Genesis is still present for us today. We really love this car and are looking forward to enjoying it for a very long time. More than a year has passed since our original review. I can only re-emphasize the above statements. Our Genesis sedan has continued to drive, ride and handle above our expectations of how good a car can be. Plus, at our recent regular maintenance visit at our AAA garage, when we went to pick the car up the service manager stated that beyond the oil service and belts replacement the car needed nothing. This was at 114,000 miles! Oh, he did recommend on the next visit that the cabin air filter should probably be changed. What more could we ask for. Genesis is an excellent option for quality, comfort and price.

This is my first luxury car. Prior to this I had a 2002 Nissan Altima. It was a solid car but it can't compare with the Genesis. The Genesis has many luxury & tech amenities. The doors and seats have a solid & weighty feel to it. It also has a surprisingly smooth & quiet ride feel. I have ridden in Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Acura, Volvo, and Infiniti. Granted, the Genesis doesn't have the same stiff handling and agility as the European cars but the ride quality feels on par with the Japanese cars such as my friend's Lexus LS430. I don't have extensive luxury car experience, but I do know that my 3.6L tech package has all the bells and whistles for less than $38K and this is hard to beat.

Have owned 3 years now, 16,500 miles. It's a shame, as I really like the comfort, and value of this car, BUT ... I have had to have car jump started 6 times in 3 years. Hyundai claims that I don't drive the car enough to keep battery charged. I work part-time (1 day/week) and car may sit 2 - 3 days between use (average 100 mi/week). Was told that if car sits for a week (say at airport when on vacation) expect that battery will have discharged and need a jump. Don't see Mercedes, BMW or Lexus with this problem. Also, ride is a little stiff for my tastes.

My only disappointment in the car is that all of the electrical components have failed. I cannot hook up my iPod it's very difficult to use the iPod in the car while driving when you can't see what's next. I drive a lot and use a smartphone it would be great to have the ability to keep my phone charging while driving. I have received many compliments on the cars Design This had been a wonderful car for us. We purchased it as a used car and it has been great.I find the acceleration powerful and had to adjust from our Lexus 6 (350) cylinder car. My husband says the head room in the Genesis is far more comfortable then our Lexus 350. I wanted this size car as I drive freeways frequently and like the safety record. The head rests are comfortably located, without touching the rear of driver's head. Many other cars we found the headrests to be intrusive and the only way to remedy the distance from head rest to driver was to incline seat, and we like to sit upright when driving. The styling of the car is beautiful and I have received many compliments. My family members have told me what an impressive car the Genesis is, with a great ride and extremely comfortable rear seating and leg room.

I purchased my 2011 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 from Dave Edwards Hyundai, Spartanburg, SC. The dealership is one of the best I have done business with. The car is truly outstanding in every respect. Color is Titanium Gray Metallic with Saddle leather interior. Traded in 2011 Hyundai Sonata Limited purchased from same dealer. I really liked the Sonata but after driving the Genesis it was impossible to resist the purchase.

Bought Genesis in Dec. '10 after seeing it at L.A. Auto Show - couldn't believe price for features and design. Just reached 10K. Trips from L.A. to the Bay Area are effortless - "right now" power to pass while riding in total lap of luxury - awesome! Hold speeds to 75 and I get 29 mpg vs. EPA est of 26. Was hesitant about buying a Hyundai - now have no regrets though dealerships aren't at level of Lexus or Benz. Only minor complaints are somewhat jittery ride around town (even small bumps are felt) and rather short front seat cushions. Features list on V-8 is extensive - I find something new every time I read the manual. Passengers can't believe it's a Hyundai and neither can I!

I've had the car for 3 months(2200 miles) now and I am impressed. My wife has a 2005 BMW545i(6 speed manual) and she told me she likes my car so much , she wants to get rid of the beamer and get her a Genesis too.We have the logic 7 in the BMW and the Lexicon system sounds even better. I don't know what the people who said negative things about this car were talking about( perhaps they work for the competition). If you are in the market for a sport/luxury car,do yourself a favor and check this car out.

I used to say that I would only ever buy a BMW but when I drove this car, I was convinced otherwise. I'll never sell my manual trans 735, it's a classic, but this thing has 'it'. If you don't care about snob appeal, this is the car to buy, hands down. Plenty of power, interior comfort, a great 'long drive' car. For me the build quality surpasses current model BMWs and feels much better made. Purchased a CPO with 45K miles and have put 40K miles this year and have yet to be disappointed.

My previous cars were Audi, BMW and Infiniti. The Genesis is easily in the same class. The ride is very nice. Not so soft that it floats, but is stiff enough to handle well. Is quiet and has the features that you would want.

I’m an old school rwd v8 guy. Owned them all, mbz, bmw, Lexus, infinity, and every domestic. This thing is nuts! Best, most powerful and smoothest v8 was the infinity 4.5. Until now. Handles 85% like bmw. Solid 85% of a Benz. Reliable 110% of infinity, lexus. Crushes Chrysler, Ford, and Gm for build quality and reliability. Audi’s are nose heavy rwd, no comparison. Bit of a jarring ride at times, they haven’t had 100 years of experience to perfect that like the Germans.Steering feel a bit numb too, so are the Germans now. But Good Lord! Get the V8! That’s where the put all the R/D money. Great Job! I’ve always told people that asked me why I’m driving the e39 540i, 400e mbnz, w124. 300cewhy I like those cars so much.... it’s about how they feel and drive , not the damn badge. I’ll leave the Hyundai badges on my 2011 4.6, and save the 3k a year for repairs and maintenance. Try one, you’ll love it!

This car blows away the competition. I've had my share of 5-series BMWs, an Inifiniti and a Lexus. None of these compares to the Genesis' comfort, refinement, engine response, interior elegance, ride quality and - especially - price. If you can get over the fact that you're driving a Hyundai, you'll find that no car this side of a Mercedes 5-series, BMW 7-series or a LS 460 can compare with it.

Coming from a 2008 Lexus ES 350, which I really enjoyed, I really didn't know what to expect. I was more than pleasantly surprised! My phone paired very easily. The phone book downloaded and voice recognition of the phone book without training was very good. Very comfortable cabin, and despite what I had heard, I do not find a problem with interior noise. Because of the sports suspension, has a very nice "road feel". I am really enjoying the car.

Worst warranty in the industry

Hyundai emphasizes its' warranty at every opportunity to get you to buy their car. I was one of these victims. I recommend that before you buy any car from Hyundai, you spend about an hour at the Service department of the dealership. Just sit down and listen. You will come to find what I found out the hard way. Hyundai had absolutely no intention of ever honoring its' warranty. What ever the problem is with the car, it was your fault and therefore it is not covered. If they cannot prove it was your fault, then they will make you spend thousands of dollars one tests to prove that the problem is not the part. The company has perfected the "it is not our part/product/workmanship/fault" philosophy.

This car is a lemon. It has spent 7 month out of 3 years in the shop. I am on my third engine. Now they will not fix my radio and nav system. I have had it the shop 4 times the the radio and nav.

There is just something about some cars that makes you want to have an excuse to drive them. The Hyundai Genesis sedan with the 4.6 V8 is one hell of a fun car to drive. The quality is equal to or better than our BMW and our previous car, an Acura. It also looks right at home at the Atlanta Athletic Club. Don't be a snob and discount this car because it is a Hyundai. Drive it and judge for yourself.

I am updating my last post. I have had the Genesis almost 3 months now. I have no regrets about trading my MB E-350 for this car. Truth be told, this car does not out handle the Benz. But, it has met and exceeded the benz everywhere else. The Benz had the P-1 sports package on it, so it was not very quiet on the road. This car is ultra car on the highway and all you have to do is step down with the right foot, and she is waiting to do her thing. I am truly impressed with this car in all aspects. My wife asked me if I would buy another Genesis and I told her no. She then asked what I would buy next, I told her the Equus. I can only imagine what Hyundai has in store for that car.

It's gentle ride and smooth engines cocoon the driver from the road. cabin of the Hyundai Genesis feels more luxurious than many similarly- priced cars from more traditional luxury brands. Inside, the Genesis seems more like a $50,000 competitor to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class than a $30,000 competitor to its less- luxurious C-Class cousin.

I have owned my Genesis for over three months and love this car. I have had four BMW 5 series and this car comparesfavorably in every way to the much more expensive 5 series. In addition, it has more interior room, features, better interior quality and so far reliability. The last BMW Iowned was a 2008 535I which was nothing but trouble with the twin turbo engine and electronics. The only thing this car does not have is a luxury badge but everything else about the car is on par with or better than the best in the luxury class.

Budgeted $70-$80k. Looked @ Benz CLS550/Es/Cs, BMW 5s/3s & a few domestics. Hands down, for the money, this one's a "no brainer"! Fit, finish, performance and my family fits. Oh, & the bank acct is $30k better off - Ops - Priced so good in comparison, bought wife a loaded Nissan Murano with the difference!

I have now had my new 2011 Genesis for 1 week. I got it at Jim Hudson Hyundai in Columbia SC. I got the base 3.8 V6 with no options. I will not give the exact price but I was out the door for under $30,000. Price aside, it is truly a wonderful car. I am in my upper 30's and I feel like a teenager again when I drive this thing. Being excited about driving is something I had forgotten about until last week. I also love the attention this car affords. I have had so many compliments and typically the reaction is WOW, I did not know Hyundai made such a nice vehicle. I did research for weeks and the only thing people can say bad about this vehicle is that they don't get the prestige. Get this car!
