Used 2013 Hyundai Elantra Sedan Consumer Reviews
Had it for 2 years, but disappointed in warranty
I bought my 2013 in Sept 2012. I am a courier and drive 250 miles a day. It had been a very reliable car. The main complaint I had about it was the engine is very noisy. I had it to the Hyundai dealer three times and they said its was normal operation. I know its wasn't because it didn't sound that bad when I bought it. It finally started blowing grey smoke out the tailpipe until heavy acceleration. Took it back in because it was blowing ALOT of smoke. They said something was unseated in the valves, but wouldn;t fix it under warranty. The reason: The said I didn't have regular Hyundai brand oil filters and changes. It didn't matter that I did have regular filters and oil changes with other brands. This seems lame and I will NEVER buy another Hyundai again because of it. Got rid of it.

Very Noisy!
This is my first and most likely my last Hyundai. My 2013 Elantra is the nosiest car I have ever owned hands down. The sound generated by the 17" wheels and low profile tires is extreme. Hyundai, put some sound absorbing material in and please, include a spare tire. "Just call our 24 hour road service" does not make up for sitting on the side of the road for 2 hours waiting for the tow to come.

Very Disappointed
This is the third Hyundai I have owned and, to be honest, the one I like the least. Outwardly it is a beautiful car. I owned it less than two weeks when I had to have a new steering column installed. I have owned the car since last July and find the suspension so loose that hitting a bump in the road causes the car to jump sideways. At freeway speeds the car tends to drift somewhat. Noisy, as well. I don't feel I have as much control with this model. It is very light and I don't feel I have a sturdy vehicle under me. Additionally, the gas mileage is just about the same as my 2008. Sorry I traded my 2008 Elantra for this new, (improved?) model. No more Hyundai's for me.
terrible gas mileage
I drive a combination of city and highway and I never get above upper 20 MPH. I got over 30 once on a trip.
Not happy!
I have 20000 miles on my elantra. the first 600 miles I followed the recommended break-in procedure from the owners manual. I drive conservatively and always have eco on. I average 22 to 24 mpg city. very disappointing. dealer checked it out and said all specs were normal. I was doing almost that well with my sonata. My trunk latch and glove compartment have had to be replaced. Noise from front brakes that dealer could not solve. Pads are good. So all in all, I wish I had kept my sonata.
