Absolutely Amazing @ Its Price
This is an amazing vehicle. The build and quality are very good for an economy small car. Everything is tight, feels substantial, and looks pleasant or even attractive. I really like the hatchback's exterior profile. The warranty and roadside assistance are unmatched by anyone else. Bottom line is this car is very well built, looks great, and drives great and has an *UNBEATABLE* price! If you like to drive well, but not pay a premium to do so, check this car out! We have NO regrets so far since purchasing our Elantra; we think that's a great sign that we made the right choice! My wife and I alternate who drives so we can both enjoy it!
Best car to own
We bought this car based on all the information we obtained on Edmunds. This has been the best car we have ever owned. I handles like a dream, average MPG is 29.1 and we have not taken a highway trip yet. On back roads the Elantra GT does not lean into the turns and holds the road perfectly. The only problem was w/Hyundai they did not manufacture enough models w/ABS and we could not get the color we wanted w/all the options. We cannot praise this car enough you must own one to understand the enjoyment of having/owning a Hyundai Elantra GT.
great car
I've owned it for only a little while and love to drive it. when you look at what other company's are offering in this price range and what you get with a gt elantra it's a no brainer. Thats even without the warrenty.
The Best Car Ive ever owned
I just rescently purchased this vehicle and I LOVE IT! Everything about this car is Easy to drive the stick shift is extreemly easy the clutch is very nice the steering I just cant say enough about it.
Elantra GT rocks!!!
I purchased a 2003 Elantra GT (pretty much same as the 04) and i ablsolutely love my car. As a 21 year old college student I was shocked that i could afford a car with leather seats, power everything, on a part time job. not to mention it sorta looks like a late model saab 9-3 (bonus!!!) For functionality, you can't beat it b/c of the hatch w/ fold down seats that fold completly flat with the trunk floor. It is a breeze to put almost anything in it, i've even put in 8 sheets of plywood without having to cut it!!
The Standard for Value
Owned at least a dozen cars, 4 of them Hyundai Elantras. Each better than the last. Most satifying car i've ever owned. Haven't found a better value, or better coporate-buyer relations. Low resale value more than made up for with warranty & repeat buyer incentives. This is the first car i've owned that i cannot imagine trading in before the wheels fall off (not likely).
Everyone should get one
I bought my elantra in october of last year (2003) it's a 2004 model and by far the best car i've ever owned. I traded in a 1999 Honda Accord and i don't miss my Honda for a second.
Very good starter car
I've had this car for more than a year now and I've had NO problems with it! It's slower with the pickup than I'm used to, but it keeps up with traffic pretty well! Its got awesome handling and has saved me from quite a few accidents (DC traffic can be lethal!) The ABS brakes have also come in handy a couple times in the rain and snow! I don't think the stereo is as amazing as people say it is, but for a factory system, its not bad!
Great car for the money
in the test drive i noticed that the Throttle responce was lacking i asked the sale men what could i do to improve that and he recommend a K&N air filter i did just that i put on a COLD air INtake and this car Just FLY's now. i'm not a young Hoodlem either. (I'm 25) but honestly this car needs some improvements and the money you save on the car deserves some money spent on it.. my suggestions - Tiburon V6 sway bar - Cold air intake - better tyres - new stereo - Synthectic OIL (moble 1) - Grounding Kit - Platnum Bosch +4 Plugs
Elantra Hatchback 2004
I bought my Hyundai 4dr GT Hatchback because I needed a small car for my small garage and I wanted better gas mileage than with my van.The automobile is a jewel. It is solid, classy, and top quality in every aspect, inside and out. It provides excellent handling and performance and gets 26.5 miles to the gallon day in and day out. It has a five year warrenty and I bought it for something like $13,500 after rebates. How can you beat it?
2004 GT hatchback
Only have a few hundred miles on the car, but the driving experience so far has been very positive. We bought the GT hatchback, and the stiffer suspension does introduce road vibration -- but the precise control through turns and on windy roads is great. The automatic transmission has a lot of zip in first and the lower range of second, but bogs down a bit under acceleration at 40mph+. Rear seats are tight in terms of leg room unless the folks up front scoot forward. One nice improvement over the 2003 is that the childseat tether anchors are no longer back at the back of the hatch area...they are directly below the rear seat backs.
Well built automobile
I really enjoy this fun car.The design and quality of this car would make you think that it cost thousands more than it actually did. Service has been excellent. Best kept secret in the automobile industry. Recieve alot of comments.
My New Toy
I just bought my first Hyundai. I was in a Malibu 2 times prior to this purchase. I wasn't too keen on the Hyundai's but I saw this one and test drove it since my budget didn't allow for much I kept an open mind. I was pleasantly surprised!! It's perky, and it handles very well on tight curves and it bad weather.I love all the gadgets that came with it. So far I am very happy with my Hyundai Elantra GT.
Elantra GT 5 spd. Hatchback review
Checked out the usual suspects: Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Mazda3, Ford Focus, etc. The Hyundai GT hatchback was a prime candidate because of its hatchback design and cost - significantly less than the others with more features. The Civic and Mazda were more expensive without half the equipment of the GT, The Corolla was boring and the Focus has been recalled more times than I can think of. I have to admit that the $2000 rebate played into my decision; with it and the dealer discount, the cost came out to just under $13000 (including sunroof ). Without the rebate I would have considered the Honda or Mazda more seriously.
GREAT CAR!!!
Amazig car, for any money. Maybe not any money but Its worht at least 23-28K and I got my GT Hatchback fully loaded with ABS and Sunroof dont forget the leather CD alloys great 5-door styling unlike mazda and ford which are just wagons for under 15K out the door.
12,988 BRAND NEW!! A TOTAL STEAL
I drove every other car I could compare this to. Nothing even came close to the Elantra Gt. Car for the dollar, Hyundai has it won. what do I have to worry about??? Absolutely nothing, I have a 10 year 100k warranty on this bad boy!!
Bang For Your Buck
I've owned my GT Hatchback for 30 days now. I have found it to be a fantastic car. I realize there are a significant percentage of buyers out there who will not be satisfied unless they have paid a lot of money for their vehicle. Try as you might, you will be unable to pay more than $14,000, so you folks will need to look elsewhere. I went with the hatchback vs. the sedan trim based on the distinctive style. A word of caution however; the hatchback model with ABS/moonroof package seems to be a pretty rare animal. Be prepared to wait for delivery.
Elantra
A great car, rides nice, handles well, looks good and decent gas milage.
Loving it so far.
I've had my Elantra GT for just under a year now.I bought it used for about $11K last May 2005 with 35,000 miles on it. It's fully loaded with sunroof, traction control, Kenwood CD Stereo w/ detachable face. No way I would have gotten so much for such that price from the other cars I was considering (Golf, Matrix, Protege, Saturn).I've got just over 52,000 miles on it now. I love this car. I drive 75 miles a day to get to work and driving around Chicago streets and highways is so much more comfortable. Cargo space is excellent for the size of the car. Only problem, that recently popped up, is with cruise control switch which was replaced by the warranty. Just regular maintanence so far
Best Hatchback Buy
The Elantra GT is the best value in the compact 5-door class, at least $3000 less than other cars with comparable equipment. It is a solid, comfortable car with a good blend of ride and handling, excellent driving position, and roomy cargo area. This is my second Elantra and I am very satisfied thus far.
Lots of fun for the money
I have owned this vehicle about two months and really love it. It is fun to drive and the stereo is great. The hatchback gives lots of cargo room. The leather seats are a real bonus. There are only two shortcomings: the gas mileage is not great (but it is so fun to drive that is minor) and there are no cupholders in the rear. But for the price, I don't think you can beat it.
Wonderous Car Blows away Japanese Co.
I have owned my Elantra GT for 2 years now. Not once have I had a problem with it. Many people Have small issues (My parents own a Turbo New Beetle, it's been in the shop more times than I can count for annoying problems, but not major ones) The Elantra is a modern marvel to the car industry. You get excellent standard options, good quality interior that's sporty and very functional (user friendly), an exterior design that has a nice design, with a slight agressive edge. The only issue with the car, which i have to complain about is the paintjob was ok. Other companies do better paintjobs, i think Hyundai goes too thin with their color, and the clear coat.
The Little GT That Could
I've had the car for about a month and I love it! I'm glad I did my research before assuming this car was junk just because it's a Hyundai. If you notice, there aren't many on the road which makes me feel good. It's great not to be a sheep and follow everyone else to the Honda, Nissan and Toyota dealers. I'm a lifer for Hyundai!
my car
I am most satisfied with the vehicle warranty. We purchased the extended warranty, even though we probably won't need it. When I purchased my first new car, I purchased a Hyundai for the price and the warranty. The car itself caused me to purchase Hyundai again. I do alot of driving in my field of work and the car was/is always reliable.
My Hyundai :-)
My Atlantra is just a fantastic car, Ifeel I am getting much more vechical then what I paid for, It is well built, Has plenty of Power, Ride is Sporty and secured. Just a great car, and Yes I would buy another one.
Bang for the Buck? - Oh yeah.
Well I've driven pick-up trucks for the past 12 years so this small sedan is a bit of a departure for me. My wife did have a 99 Nissan Maixma SE for a few years, and while this would never be confused with a Maxima, it is fun. So far I love the way it drives. It's effortless. It dives into corners and zips through traffic. Basically for the money it can't be beat. I had looked at the Mazda 3s and to get it with the same features as the Elantra GT would have cost 4-5K more. The Nissan Sentra is... well a Sentra. The Hyundai warranty is simply the best.
Great Value
There is no way you'll find a car with more to offer in this price class. Excellent interior design, and lots of standard features.
New Owner
Purchased the car a few days ago. No options on this 5spd hatchback. Paid 14,800 for it minus the 750 rebate. Nice car. Bought it for the styling, price and warranty. I heard the rebate just went up today!
What a bargain!
This car is an excellent value. Loaded w/ features and comfortable for a family of 4. Hyundai can't be paying the Koreans enough if they are making a profit off this car!
GT Hatchback - Outstanding Value
The GT comes with a ton of standard features that you won't find in any similiar cars in this price range. You can't beat the warranty on these cars either. I shopped around alot and I'm very satisfied with the car and the dealership I bought it from.
Excellent car - doubly so for the money
Owned since April 31 of this year. Just got it out of the shop at 10k miles - they dropped a new transmission in, the old one grinded shifting into second at anything over 2800rpm. Minor interior trim rattling on rough roads or when the sub is cranked. Other than that, this car is more feature-laden and fun to drive than anything out there under $16k, even taking other cars' rebates into effect. The Mazda3 is more fun, with a stronger engine and better aftermarket support, but costs $5k more than the $11,600 I paid for my GT hatch... and if I sink half of that difference into suspension, wheel/tire, and engine upgrades I'll have almost as nice a car customized to my liking. Bravo Hyundai!
Why Pay More For a Honda or Toyota
The 5 door GT,has the ride and feel of cars costing 5 - 10 thousand dollars more. Good gas mileage, 27-29, very quiet and euro looking. Never thought I'd like it till we drove it. Save your money as the warranty makes it worth owning
Excellent in all aspects
This car has many safety features. Its comfortable, reliable, fun to drive and very detailed in both interior/exterior design. The features it offers are seldom found even in high-end brand of cars. Fuel economy is amazing. I average 39.4 MPG. Sometimes I exceed 40 MPG due to the manual transmission, which allows better RPM management. Thats why, overall, I dont have complains, because it perfectly meets my wants and needs. In essence: I love it, and look forward to purchase either/or the 2006/2007 version, same model, if still in production (hopefully).
fun car great price
the gt 5 door in my area was very difficult to find, northtown dealership found one dealership reallies cares about the customer had one small defect which they fix immediately great dealership to work with
Extremely Happy
I brought my vehicle(not a Hyundai)in for a tune up and too kill time I went to the dealership next door and started test driving vehicles to see what kind of vehicle I wanted to own. I took the 5 speed for a ride & then the automatic. I loved them both. They were both roomy & comfortable, I couldn't figure which one I wanted. They were both awesome. They both had speed. I chose the automatic because of the sunroof & kenwood mp3 player. I still plan on getting the 5 speed. I get great gas mileage.
Don't get the 5 spd.
I've had a 2004 Elantra GT hatchback for two months. Great car - fast, safe, reliable, comfortable. However, the 5 spd. is extremely clunky; it feels more like a truck transmission than a car transmission. Moreover, the fog lights come on only when the headlights are on, which rather defeats the purpose of fog lights. Otherwise, terrific car.
like the car
runs great, warranty a real plus, get lots of compliments on the style, affordable but doesn't look it
all the way with Hyundai
I had a Tiburon 97, a Sonata 2000, an Elantra GT 2002, and now, since two months, an Elantra GT automatic 2004, the best of all Hyundai car that I have driven Why a Hyundai product totay? When I bought the Tiburon, it was because I was struck by the beauty of the car. But now I bought an Elantra GT 2004 because it's again a very nice car, always a very reliable car, but mainly because it's a car so fun to drive, and very generous in space for a guy of more thant six feet tall. Really I'm proud of my Elantra GT 2004 red glaze. Finally, since more thant 8 years, I have always received a first class service from my Hyundai dealer
Best Car for the Money
I just said goodbye to my 97 Elantra and decided to go back with Hyundai. The new Elantra is big, more powerful and much more attractive. I got the GT Hatchback fully loaded for $14K. No ABS however. The leather (the real thing) is very nice, the purple/red dashboard illumination at night is very "cool". The sounds system is quite impressive for a car of this price. However i love that it can play MP3 CDs. No one can beat the warranty and you won't be able to find another car with Leather, Sunroof, impressive sounds systems, Alarm, power everything for the price. The ride is very quiet, even with the sunroof open on the highway.. VERY IMPRESSIVE!
A Car You Grow to Love
I was not all that excited to be trading in my two seater sports car for the Elantra. However, I was growing out of the racer boy image and I needed something practical and good on gas. Now, I can't figure out why I had been driving anything else. This car is great. It excels at the things a "daily driver" should excel at and it still surprises me with thoughtful features designed into the vehicle that I had not known about. Can you believe it can tow over 3000lbs! I just found that out today and my jaw dropped. Awesome car.
Hyundai Elantra
I bought this car in July of 2003 and three days later I went on an 1800 mile road trip to NH. During the time I was amazed with the fuel economy and the quiet and ride comfort in a car that was less than 15,000 dollars with all the options. Some of my favorite features on the car include the comfortable seats, the knob on the 5-speed, and the cool blue lit dials for the speedometer and tachometer.
My Review
Good experience so far
good fun will travel
38 mpg with stick. Peppy and I feel good that I can afford a more expensive car but drive this. Know what I mean?
great car for a great price...
Bought the car a year and 4 months ago. Haven't had any problems other than the crappy Kenwood MP3 player - it never wanted to play mp3's. I'm happy with the car though and I recently sent one to Europe. I haven't had any mechanical problems and I would definitly recommend the car to anyone who's looking to buy a compact sedan. I have friends with Civics and Sentras and they are not any better yet they're more expensive. The car is even roomier and better laid out inside. The GT is a great value but I think they should add a bigger engine if they wanna call it a "sporty."
2nd Elantra
We have 2 Elantras in our family; the other is a 2001 Elantra GLS with nearly 30,000 miles. Both vehicles have performed very well and have proven to be very reliable. The only problem to date was with the radio/cd player in the 2001 model. After the 3rd swap by the dealership (Keyes)it's been fine.
Great First Car
The 2004 hyundai elantra gt was my first car, I recently got in an accident on the freeway and my car was totaled. I only had the car for 6 weeks, but I loved it, it was comfortable to drive and got me where i needed to go. I have been looking for another car but have yet to find one that compares in my mind, i would definately recommend this car and i wish i could find another one.
This is a GREAT car.
For the price, this is the best car I've owned. Yeah, it's cheap, but that only makes my friends wonder why they spent 10K more on a car. The hatchback is terrific. I can get anything into the car, including a 6-foot step ladder. Does it have a lot of power? No. But with no desire to go off road, I can drive anywhere I want to. Occasionally, I know I cannot pass a porsche when I'm going uphill. The car has a super-designed interior. Feels just right, even for big guys. My wife and I both like to drive it.
A good car for the price
This replaced a Camry that had too much 'crash customizing'. Overall, the car is well designed. With the rear seat down it holds a large amount of cargo considering the size of the car. There is adequate legroom for people over six feet tall. Sunroof tilts up to open as a 'no-draft. Less noise than opening a window. Still noisy though. Overall noise with all windows and roof closed is acceptable but not non-existent.
average
i have a lot of problems with the stering wheel, shakeing at avarege 65mph. I need to replace twice the front rotors, tape side doors and right side wheel bearing. The air vents make a lot of noise at 75mph and i had to replace left side view mirror and so on. I will never buy a hyundai again.
What ?
Just a nice car for the money
