Very Satisfied with First Car
Bought in December 2014 at 157 000 km, owned for 5 months, driven 20 000 km, sold because leaving the province and the country. Wheel bearings and wiper assembly had to be done during the last 5 months, seemed at the time like it was reasonable for a car its age. Started and drove fine in the cold and the snow in Montreal. Spent money on it like you would any used car for little things here and there. Nice and light and fun to drive. Interior nothing special but drove long distances without feeling sore. No excessive road noise or vibrations.

My 2004 Accent
I bought mt Accent in 2005 as a new car. It has never let me down, I now have 126,000 plus kilometres. I have always serviced it at 7500 kilometres or every 6 months and have had no trouble. The only thing that worries me is that the tyres wear out a lot faster than other cars I have had, I am onto my 4th set of new tyres, maybe I should have had more wheel balances done, I think this could be a downer. Still it is a great car and I would recommend it to anyone seeking a used car. ps it is a manual and my 17 yr old daughter has found it really easy to drive!!

2004 Hyundai Accent GT
Our GT (bought new in 2004 and 75k miles now) is no thrill ride, but no shame, either. With better gas we do zero to 60 mph under 10sec (with automatic tranny.) and still averaging 29mpg. I love this GT version. It's much better than the regular Accent. Handling is better and steering is more precise. Acceleration is better too. Changed first set of tires at 55k. No prob with tranny or engine. The stock breaks and rotors are bit on weak side. But for the price nobody can complain. We used warranty only once when muffler got noisy and that was all. This is the BEST VALUE transp you can get. And also, this model has front seat-mounted side airbags which no others cars in the same class offer!
A real winner
Purchase of our 2004 Hyundai Accent GT was a direct result of my son wanting a 'beater car' to drive back and forth to college. Found a 'plain Jane' 2002 Accent with 5 speed at a local used car dealer for him, I was impressed with the gas mileage (35mpg)on the highway but the ample amount of space inside for a big guy like me. 6'3", 290 and the 'zip' this little car had. Thus the search began for a similar model for my daughter who turned 16 this summer.I was pleased to find a 1 owner, 2004 GT Automatic with 75000 miles. Body in good condition and the interior like new. With a nice stereo and CD player included the price was right and we bought it. 6 thousand miles later a success story!
Excellent little car
It was good to get around town in and it can take a hit. Unfortunately it very successfully stopped a large adult deer straight on the front end but I, the driver, remained completely safe. It was fuel efficient and an easy little car to drive. It's small size allowed for easy parking anywhere! Overall a nice little car.
Great Little Starter Car
I bought this as my first new car and have loved it ever since. Gas mileage is great either highway or city (I drive stick). Have had no major repairs but am up to 200K Km now and it is in need of a windshield washer motor, new windshield, and possibly clutch problems. Still drives smoothly. A little noisy but it is a small car so to be expected. Sound system is awesome! I've replaced the breaks once and do annual tire changes for winter/summer. Perfect car for single or young couple, doesn't fit our growing family anymore, no room to put down 60/40 seats with a carseat. Can't put carseat in middle because there is a bump. Need four doors. Headlights are not bright enough.
Best bang for your buck
This is my second car, my first being a 1996 Saab 900SE Convert. I got the Accent because though the Saab was great in the snow and on gas, the cost to repair it was crazy so was the time it took. The Accent doesn't have these problems at all! Still good in snow and on gas! It doesn't have the turbo the saab did but it still has plenty of punch being almost 1000 lbs lighter. Best $4000 I ever spent (yep, thats right, 4K).
Accent you really win
for the performace it is great 106hp and weighing only 2200lbs this little car gets up.Comfort is awesome the seat hugs me and fell like im driving sports car. the car dose great on gas, and i love starting the car up every day. the desingn on the car interior, exterior has great looks and turns heads the quilty and reliablity is just as good as any honda or toyota i personally put tons of miles on my accent and drive it like hell and all i ever have to do is chang the oil. you get alot more for alot less then its rivials.. so if your looking for a fun car to drive that looks cool with 10year 100k warrenty go for the accent.
It's A Funday In Your Hyundai
My Hyundai has been fun and relieble. The gas milage is terrific. (35 mpg) After I put some good snow tires on the car it clawed through some really deep snow. The car really reminds me of the earlier year Honda Civics. I am 6'1" and the car fits me comfortably. For the money this car is the best bargain out there. I plan on driving it until the wheels fall off. For commuting it is fun and nimble and the warranty is terrific. My car is pretty basic but it does the job and does it well. If you are looking for a good sub-compact car it should definitely be a consideration.
Great economy car
I bought my 04 Accent because I needed a very fuel efficient car. I bought it with 55K miles on it and have had very little problems with it, I replaced the timing belt myself at 60K miles per the maintenance schedule, the upstream O2 sensor went bad so I replaced that myself, and have been doing regular oil/filter changes. The airbag light did go on, took it to the dealer for a diagnostic but haven't had it repaired yet. It's a 5-speed and I average between 42 and 43 MPG with 75% freeway driving. I bought this car because I needed a fuel efficient commuter car to rack up a bunch of miles and it's fit the bill very well.
Lost it to accident 125,000 miles
Great car. Only had to change timing belt at 60,000 mi and 120,000 miles at a cost of approximately $250 to $300. One set of brake pads at 70,000 mi and the rest was just wipers and bulbs. Car was considered a total loss with insurance company. I did not want to get rid of it. It did very well on a head on collision. At least I thought. Minimal damage in my eyes. A great car company backs their vehicles with a 10year/ 100,000 mi warranty on engine and powertrain and a 5year/60,000 mi bumper to bumper warranty! Oh and don't give me that "I want to buy American" crap. Hyundai is built here in America. Ford fusion has "assembled in Mexico" or parts from Japan!
Love my Hyundai
I love my car.....this car looks sporty and the price is right....I love my sun roof, and some of the other features. I'm also glad it's a basic model, no electric windows to worry about....I hate ABS...so this is a great car for me. It handles really well...drives pretty smooth, and I find it a lot of trunk space....and room for friends in the back. My friends are surprised by how spacious it's in the back. Very economical to drive. ")
Not bad for basic transportation
I bought my '04 Accent last November. It's about as basic as a car gets - MT, no AC, power locks, power windows or cruise - but it gets great gas mileage - 30-35mpg in mixed driving and is surprisingly good in the snow. Purchased it for $4k, so for the daily commute, it's a good deal. I miss the AC, but never travel long distances in it. I would definitely recommend the accent for anyone needing reliable transportation.
I love my Accent
I bought it in April 2003, and have driven it around town and a family trip of 2,000 miles. The ride was excellent and the mileage was great. I love the fact that My Accent has such a great warranty. I am not sorry for buying it and I highly recommend the car to anyone. The only thing I wish I did was get 4 doors. My children are grown but my grandchildren now ride with me.
Worth the money
I have had this car for 5 years now and the only expensive thing ive done to it was a timing belt. (Part of 60,000 mi service). Other than that it has given me no problems. You cant beat a 5 year 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty and a 10 year 100,000 mile engine and power train warranty. The warranty was why I bought this car. I just wish other makes of vehicles would do the same.
So-so Car
For a small economy car it is reasonably fun to drive. It also comes with some unexpected features such as power heated mirrors, and lumbar support. On the downside there is lots though. Lacks acceleration, too much engine noise, idles high and burns more gas than it should (a tradeoff for power). Has had two axle boots, and the rear struts replaced under warranty due to leaks/tears. AC quit, stereo quit. Both also fixed in warranty. Stereo still randomly cuts out and the AC sometimes makes a grinding noise when turned on.
A lot for a little
I bought my first Accent last year and it was a sporty little GL 2 door. It had a very comfortable power to handling ratio. It is obviously not a performance automobile but it never lacked the get up and go I needed, even with the a/c on. Unfortunately, a renegade truck wheel bouncing along the interstate put an end to that nice little 2 door. During the accident both airbags deployed and I suffered no injuries whatsoever. My wife and I just bought another one, only this time we went for the four door.
04 Accent review
Too small. Interior is cramped. Ignition key is hard to insert. Engine is great on performance for its size but is too noisy. It can handle interstate speeds without any problem. 4 speed auto transmission performs very well. Handles great and is easy to manuver. Steering is very precise.
A Gr8t L'il Car To Drive
I purchased an 03 Hyundai Accent just after Xmas. I now have 9k miles on it with nary a problem nor concern. It's way comfortable, has plenty of power also fun to drive. Today I had the dealer install an A/C unit. I consistently get 35 MPG om my 80 mile daily commute to work. I love this car and would NOT hesitate to buy another when trade-in times comes around...
I HATE this car
My car only has 20000 miles on it and it has spent more than 3 months in the shop in 2 years. I have had to pretty much replace every origional part. I strogly advise not to buy this car. My family owns 3 and every one of them has had major problems from replacing the transmission to the entire break system. I even had to replace a bad battery. These cars truly are junk!
Great Car Check it out
nice vehicle i recomend one for everyone
silver bullit
i love my accent.the is built with the highest quality.the fuel economy exceeded my expectations.also for a 4 cylinder it has surprising power.
Fun Economy
I drive a lot of interstate hwys. and in town. The pick-up of the engine is good with the 5-speed transmission and I average 36 mi. per gallon of gas. I like hatchback style, but a scoop might jazz it up?!.
BEST VALUE OUT THERE
For around $12,000 this car is the best value because of the 100,000 mile waranty plus all the features you get. Has plenty of acceleration for a 1.6 liter. The GT style we purchased has great style.
got all i paid for
i,ve had this vehicle for 1 year now and i,ve not had to return to the dealer for any warranty work. i will make an appointment for on buzzing speaker in the rt frt area of the stereo. aside from that, i feel i got a very good vehicle for a very good price. i bought the 2003 accent gt with 5spd manual trans and i,m satisfied with all aspects of the car. i will look into another hyundai when i,m ready to trade or upgrade. thanks hyundai for a fine product.
I love my Hyundai
I just wanted to say that this is a wonderful car and I would recommened it to everyone
This car sucks.
I just bought my Hyundai Accent used about a month ago with only 50,000 miles on it. Well right before the warranty ran out the transmission went out on it and had to be rebuilt. Then right after the warranty ran out i was driving down the freeway and the car started to make a funny noise. So i drove to a gas station and looked under the hood to see all of the oil pouring out from under the engine. This happened with only 61,000 miles on the car. So i filled the car with oil and drove home and called my friend the mechanic and he said tha the block was cracked.
GREAT VALUE ACCENT GT
Impressive little car for the price that is economical, has side air bags, a long warranty, excellent build quality, a good radio, great headlights at night and it is stable in the wind.
Worth Buying a Accent GT
The best car that I have bought the quality is A+. The GT model is hard to find.
What an economical find!
Originally bought my son a used 2002 2- Door GS Accent to drive to school in 2008. Had to drive it a few times and was impressed with the handling, power and overall comfort since I'm a big person. Not fancy, but functional so I decided to keep my eyes open for another one for my daughter who will turn 16 this summer. I found a 2-door Accent GT, one owner in relatively good looking condition. After a Car Fax report and a phone call to the dealer who sold and serviced the car I made an offer to the local used car dealer and we negotiated for a day or two and I bought the vehicle in February. Have put a couple thousand miles on it and I find it to be a great vehicle for the money spent so far.
my car
Good car for low price
Best Car for the Buck
Rated at 33 MPG I get consistantly 36 to 38 MPG. Fast, zippy fun to drive with plenty of acceleration. Handles well even when the front tire was punctured on the freeway! What more could you ask for for $7000...
sweet car
bought with only 49000km for $6000 including tax. it was worth every penny! fast little car, never had a problem, i drive the crap out of it and its still like new!
great commuter car
I bought my 2004 Accent (2 dr/manual) in August at a dealer in CA as an advertised special for $6880. After adding in $1500 for dealer installed AC plus tax, license, and fees, the total came out to $9200. You get a lot of car for this price. Runs great (13,000 miles in 6 months without any problems). Average 35-40 MPG depending on traffic and speed. Did research before deciding to go with Hyundai instead of a Civic or Echo. Hyundai has really improved in quality and reliability over the last few years and I am happy with my purchase. Will definitely consider Hyundai for next purchase. Hope this is useful for others.
My Accent
I really enjoy driving my Accent. It has a lot of snap from the engine in every gear - even at top speed and max revs. Will I buy another one? Ohh yeah. Mike Kirk
Great inexpensive car
Got my '04 Accent 5spd at used dealership tent sale a couple months ago. It had 4975 miles total and I got it for $6500 plus tax...around $7200 OTD! How can you beat that for a car that was practically NEW w/a great warranty? I ride my motorcycle 90% of the time out here in CA but needed an inxpensive reliable car for errands, taking the dog to the park..etc. This car so far has been excellent...no frills....am/fm cassette only but has A/C. Good on gas and drives really nice for a little car. 5spd is actually kinda peppy. Can ride 80mph w/out much problem. Styling is nice. Buy one used...they can be had for MUCH under msrp....almost 1/2 with low miles. Very happy w/the Accent!
Performance in accident
This is my second Hyundai. My first Hyundai was totalled in an accident when a woman ran a stop sign and hit me on the driver's side. I was able to walk away from the accident. I did not have side airbags. I think she hit me at about 30-45 mph. I am very happy with the warranty and performance of my hyundai.
Smart Buy
I was very impressed to purchase a new car for only $7,000 that had such an extensive warranty. I bought it for reliable transportation back and forth from school and it has been wonderful. I will have it payed off in four years for under $177 a month. It had many more features than I have ever had before in a car such as power steering, independant suspension, variable wiper speed, air conditioning and cup holders. I can even fit two mountain bikes in the trunk when I put the seats down. Has alot of room for a small car and handles very well. I've never thought twice about buying it and you shouldn't either if you need something cheap.
My first Hydai
So far its been good
Great Commuter Car
Got the car to use for driving to/from work (75 mi. RT)through Southeastern Arizona's bumpy and dusty roads. This is my second Hyundai Accent (the other was a 4-door). Love the value and mileage, but would never buy another 2-door. Too cramped. If I added one thing, it would be a tilt wheel. My son is 6'1" and can only sit in the front since the back is so cramped. I'll drive this car until my warranty is up, and will definitely buy another Hyundai. As a single mother, it gives me peace of mind knowing it's under warranty should anything go wrong. I've never had to do anything more than minor repairs, for either of my Hyundais.
great little car
2 dr gt hatchback, auto. 53k on the car, only 1 minor problem covered under warranty (rear windshield wiper wouldn't turn off). gas mileage could be better, but is acceptable on the automatic. VERY versatile, i had a 7 foot christmas tree inside the car (with the trunk door closed). very comfortable, love the lumbar on the drivers seat. drives very well, corners are fun with the sport tuned suspension. turning diameter is great, about 32 ft. engine noise is pronounced, but its ok on the highway. bought it brand new (GT trim & power package) for 11,262 OTD. GREAT car, will definitely buy another hyundai.
2 Dr. Hyundai Accent
I have only had this vehicle for about a month but I am continually more impressed with it. It has quite a bit of pickup for it's engine size and is pretty fun to drive. Cupholders are great. Not a huge fan of the exterior design but value of the car for the price (with great warranty, good gas mileage, etc.) is tremendous. The good reliability review Hyundai just received by consumer reports put me over the top for buying this car.
Hyundai has proven itself reliable
My car's coming up on 100,000 miles and nothing at all has acted older than brand new. With the 5 speed manual transmission, it feels quicker than most other cars in its class, probably because it weighs in at only slightly over a ton. I've driven a lot of cars with manual transmission, including a Honda Civic with 30,000 miles, and I can safely say this car has the smoothest and easiest shifter I've ever used, even at 100,000 miles. The fuel economy is right around that Civic/Corolla 30 mpg range. Overall, it's a very basic, no frills, reliable car, and it's hardly left a dent in my pocket at all.
The Way to Go..!
I have owned this car now for about 1 month..have driven 1000 miles....It is quick...clean looking...excellant stereo...handles well...nice headroom...good dash setup....with the 10year warranty it is the way to go..it is the complete package...very little to trick it out..I added the Hood protector(the Bra).mud guards front and rear. Auto vent shades for the doors...the cargo net ..floor mats (the primo ones from weatherguard) and cargo area mat...my other car is a BMW 2003 325I....and I like them both equally
my 04 accent
i love everthing about my new accent, i have been a gm buyer for over twenty years, i cannot not find what im looking for at the american car dealers, some one at gm ford and chrysler should wake up, i dont want a suv or giant sized pick up, my accent does everything well , ive had 0 problems, mine is the 3 door, i call it my mini truck , this is my third hyundai
Great Car
Best little car around. Fun to drive, excellent fuel mileage. This dealership is devoted to after the sale customer service, and it shows. Dont pass this one up. The Accent is a keeper.
Great Car!
I've had my little black accent now for 6 years. I'm now looking to upgrade to a Mini Cooper for the only reason that I just want a newer car and a change. I'm a little worried though about letting this baby go as it has been the BEST car EVER! Never had a problem. I'm determined to find a buyer that loves it as much as I do and I will be very sad to see it drive away. If you are looking to buy an accent I would say DO IT!
GREAT CAR
my dad bought me this car for my 16th birthday, I'm thrilled with its exterior design and the interior as well, its so fun to drive
Trouble child
Bought my Accent GT new and regretted that purchase! Transmission troubles plagued it (my neighbor also has an '04 Accent and had to have tranny replaced at 30,000 miles). Blew out valves upon traveling over Blue Ridge mountains. Traded it in after owning for a troublesome 8 months for a Jeep. Never looked back! My first and last Hyundai!
Hyundai
Our company has a fleet of 7 Hyundai. We have owned a total of 12. Our cars are used mostly for in-town delivery and average 45,000/car/year. We have had minimal problems dispite hard driving and different drivers using the cars.
