Hard to Beat
Plain and simple. There is nothing in even close to this price range that offers what the pilot does. Handles wonderfully, firm ride, great acceleration, great interior. I did a great deal of shopping before I bought and was very suprised how far above the others this vehicle was.

This is a typical Honda. The features in the vehicles make good sense but nothing is too fancy. This is our first car that is not a sedan, thus we are acclimating ourselves to being high up. It looks like it will be easy. I cannot figure how to downshift into third gear, but the dealer shold provide a clue. This SUV is a keeper, like all Hondas.

THE ULTIMATE SUV
THE BEST AMONG THE ULTIMATE
Great SUV!
Great all around vehicle. Had a minivan, definitely made a move in the right direction. This vehicle rides like an Accord and has the roominess of the Oddysey.
Wonderful to Drive!!
I've owned my pilot for a little more than a month now. I compared it to the Pathfinder, Highlander, Expedition, and Mountaineer. The Honda offered the best combination of size, looks, ride quality, and reliability. Most of all, it offered the best value. I actually purchased mine for $500 under sticker. I miss some of the bells and whistles from my Jeep Grand Cherokee (auto lights, auto-mirror, auto door-locks, memory seats, heated seats, awesome sound system), but the ride of the Honda more than makes up for it. I hope to love my Honda enough to be a life-long convert.
Pilot
Not a bad vehicle
DISAPPOINTED - NOT A TOYOTA
DEAD SPOT IN THE TORQUE AT CRUISING SPEED. IRRITATING SHIFT AT CRUISING SPEED FOR ANY ACCELERATION. SHORT LEFT LEG POSITION. FRONT SEAT BACKS NOT COMFORTABLE AT SHOULDER BLADE HEIGHT IN CENTER. REAR SEAT TOO SMALL FOR ANYONE BUT A SMALL KID. RADIO/TAPE CONTROLS NOT FRIENDLY. WELL BUILT, SAFE, STABLE, GOOD RIDE AND QUIET FOR AN SUV.
New Honda Pilot
We are very pleased with our recent purchase. Lots of storage space, well thought out compartments, very nice interior trim. Ride comfort is excellent, engine is smooth. Nav system is very good although the software is several years out of date. Audio system is good, dash mounted tweeters are a little shrill. Excellent visibility, large mirrors and good over the hood view. We compared ML350, RX330, MDX, Murano, Touareg.
I like it
I had my Pilot for 3 weeks and so far it was nothing but joy. Long trips to the summer house are now very enjoyable. The truck is very smooth and very big. The only problem was an unbalanced tire that made the steering wheel shimmy at 75-80 which was king of annoying. But the delearship rotated the tires and the problem went away
Honda Pilot
This car is new on the market, hard to get and I haven't seen one on the Honda lots since June. This vehicle rides better than the Chevy, Ford, and Toyota's we drove before purchasing the pilot. This vehicle will most likely hold it's value like other Honda vehicles.
Yeah
Awsome SUV! great car best suv awsome big sweet sweet rime tight color
Happy move from Lexus to Honda Pilot
I loved the Lexus RX, but needed more room and a lower car payment. I am not a minivan mom and wanted an SUV that drove smooth and looked good, but am turned off by the "truck type rides". I drove the Pilot and loved it. Now, I don't know how I would have even fit my visiting familiy, kids and their friends in another car. Do I miss the luxury of the Lexus? Yes, but not the higher car payment for the smaller SUV that barely seats 5 passengers. And, the kids love the extra seats and the features...lots of cup holders for the thirsty soccer team. Just go get one!
Great Vehicle
My wife wanted a 3rd row seat to haul the kids(ours and their friends), but didn't want a minivan, or stationwagon. I wanted something with as much horsepower as possible. After exhaustive research, and numerous test drives, the Honda Pilot seemed to be the clear choice. After 8 months, I don't have any complaints. The ride is comfortable, the looks are just right, and I love to pass sportscars on the freeway! Great Vehicle!
Good Deal
Moved up from a 1997 CR-V; Good ride with comfortable seating and good visibility; plenty of power; decent fuel economy; Fair amount of road noise. Expect to last longer than American counterparts.
Try again HONDA!
I traded my 01 Accord EX on the Pilot. I was sure the Pilot would be as nice as the Accord...WRONG!! Road, wind, and tire noise is TERRIBLE! The interior shakes and rattles like a Chevy! Too much plastic inside. HVAC Vents break with the slightest bump. Leather is OK, but seats feel like a park bench. Lots of features for the price, but Honda had to sacrifice something....Quality!
Honda Pilot
Purchased on July 4th and have been very happy with this vehicle. This is our third Honda vehicle. The ride is better and quieter than our 98 Accord. I have to hand it to Honda - this vehicle is AWESOME. Recently took a vacation to South Dakota and checked fuel economy. Averaged 18.4 mpg in the Black Hills area (176 miles driven on 2 different days)and averaged 23.89 mpg on highway and interstate driving in Western Nebraska and Kansas (1846 miles total). There are some steep grades out there and the Pilot had no troubles whatsoever.
Want a great SUV?
After looking at a bunch of admittedly nice-looking but chintzy feeling american SUV's (Envoy, Denali, Cherokee) we despaired of finding what we were looking for. Honda must have read our minds. The Pikot is neat looking, well built, comfortable to drive and has enough "stuff" to keep us happy. You may have to pay slightly over list but even so, the value is there.
EXCELLENT SUV
After driving almost every SUV from $25,000 to $40,000, we decided to purchase the Pilot (EX-L with DVD). This is by far the nicest vehicle I have owned. The Pilot has all the options I was looking for at a fair price with Honda quality and reputation. If you are looking for a quality SUV with all the options, look no further, this is the one to buy!!
Pretty Pleased with My Pilot
Small, Mid-Size and Large SUVs...I looked at them ALL for 2 years because I need AWD to get to my backwoods home in a wild northern climate. After much research, I finally decided on the Pilot. Picked it up from the dealer and spent the next 12 hours driving it 800 miles home. By the time I reached my own (unplowed) driveway, I was pretty happy with my decision. After the Pilot plowed through a foot and a half of snow on the 1/2 mile long driveway and slipped into the garage without breaking a sweat, I was in love. I had a great dealer experience, the car is truly a joy to drive - even after 12 hours straight. And, I can fit EVERYTHING in it!
Best Mid-size SUV around
Excellent vehicle. The latest of 12 Hondas I have owned. Great acceleration, even through the mtns. City~18mpg, Hwy~22-24 mpg. Have four kids and wanted SUV (in addition to our 99 Odyssey). No problems so far (8K miles.) Typical high Honda quality. Quietest Honda I've owned. Can't beat quality, reliability, features and price (even at MSRP). Can't put a price on dependability when the family is in the car.
Awesome
Love it! This is honestly the first vehicle that both my wife and I can agree upon! She likes it so much she wants me to get her one when my other car comes off its lease. Imagine that, matching his and her Pilots! Anyways I would highly recommend this vehicle.
Love this car...test drive to see
It's one of the best purchase decisions we have made in a car in years. It's such a good ride and doesn't feel like a typical SUV. We noticed the positive difference between the Pilot and other popular SUVS seconds into the test drive. Trust me, if you are considering a SUV, make sure you compare the ride and feel of the Pilot vs. Ford, Chevy and other popular models.
Love my Pilot!!!
When the lease was up on my 98 Toyota 4Runner, I knew I wanted another SUV but one with more seats. The Honda Pilot was a perfect choice! It is not too much larger but it seems so much more spacious. The interior is designed with a lot of thought put into it. It is so quiet and such a very smooth ride. I bought the car on a Saturday and on Monday had the cross bars installed and was I surprised!! The whistling noise was horrible, the service men had installed them incorrectly. They switched them around and it was instantly quiet again. I recommend the car to everyone, especially my friends with kids. Thanks, Honda!
Saved me from the Mini-Van
I had been following this SUV since Honda first announced its release earlier this year. With a growing family a larger car was a necessity. My wife wanted a Mini-Van, while I the me image conscious of us wanted something with a little more style.
Rugged Class!
Great SUV! It is simple, has everything that one would want. AWD is seamless. Parking is dead easy. There is no other eight passager vehicle that can manouver with such ease. Gas milage is a plus. Never under 20 mpg (canadian) We live on a windy road. Body role is minimal compared to my truck and van the pilot replaces. "Happy Piloting".
Makes driving fun again!
I am having fun driving my shiny new and oh so comfortable honda pilot. last mother's day, my life changed. my son got me my first honda! He's the best son in the world to give me the greatest car ever! The best part is the comfort. i forget about that arthritis when i climb into my high seat and have all the room i need. when i'm inside my dream car i suddenly feel real good. it gives me that extra feeling that only having this car can give. thank you for making me happy.
Great car - rated #1 by CR
The best car in the mid-size and large size SUVs. Better than the Acura MDX (whom the Pilot is derived) and $5000 less. A bargain!
Car lovers' SUV!
Needed a larger vehicle for a growing family. Test drove EVERY midsize SUV out there. Some were too small- RX300, Highlander, Pathfinder. Others were still too much truck- 4Runner, Trailblazer, Explorer. Pilot is the PERFECT size. Not cheap, but still a good value at sticker. DVD player is great!
New Pilot
We couldn't decide between the Pilot or Highlander. The Pilot won out because of it's space plus The engine on the Pilot seemed stronger and the Pilot had better road stabality. . We had a very positive dealer experience in NJ. We live outside Philadelphia and would had to have ordered a pilot at MRSP. In Nj, close to LBI, we found a pilot that had been ordered but not picked up. We paid $500 below MRSP plus trade and some cash down. Roof rack and cross bars were thrown in along with rear mud guards. We have put on 500 miles and love driving our new pilot. Highly recommend it.
My new Pilot
The feature I enjoy the most about my Pilot is it's cross between a SUV and a minivan. It is very kid friendly, yet sporty looking. The rear seats folding down makes them always accessible when away from home and simple for anyone to pull up. The engine runs quiet and has quick acceleration. This is my first experience with Honda, and I am very pleased.
Amazing Pilot
This SUV is incredible. I look forward to driving it every weekend. It feels tall and solid on the road, has no rattles or sqeaks and takes me everywhere I want to goon road or off road. It feels like I am driving a $50,000 luxury sedan, not a sport utility truck.
best in class
After reviewing and testing a few other SUV's I purchesed the Pilot and love it we travled 2400 miles the week after recieve the vehicle and everything was great
dealer
had it now for about 3weeks. excellent suv ece quality also own a 2003 honda pilot ex-l with dvd player. mine is just a ex with 30" tires 3 12" subs the factory engine is excellent but put a v8 in instead this suv halls ass!
Very happy
The Pilot has been an excellent car for our family of 8! It handles great through the snow and ice of Michigan's Upper Peninsula roads. It is very quiet, and very reliable. The gas mileable is also acceptable (especially compared with other SUV's). The price and reliability of the Pilot made it a real winner for us. The only downside: the rear spoiler was not designed well, as the plastic warps in the sunlight.
Honda Pilot
We drove the Pilot and loved it at first drive. This was after driving ALL of the competing cars (Explorer, Evoy, Toyotas, Mitsubishi, etc). The ride tied with Explorer. The third row seat is too small for our 5 year old son's feet. Our 7 year old barely fits.
The Perfect SUV
This truck is a dream come true. It rides more like a car (being a Honda Accord / Odyssey underneath w/unibody construction) than a truck. It seats five comfortably and an extra three in the way back 3rd row comfortably, but with tight legroom. Lots of great cargo space. Lots of elbow room. Great seating position, comfortable front seats. Ergonomics can't be beat. Lots of handy cubbys in which to stuff stuff.
Love the Pilot
Overall, I love driving this vehicle. It's my first Honda and won't be my last. I paid under sticker and had a great experience with this purchase.
Nice
This is the best SUV out right now, it has everything you need at a good price!
Sports Car of the 21st Century
I traded up from my 3rd van, wanting something with a little pizazz but still utilitarian. I tried all the mid- sized SUVs, not wanting something 'trucky'. Narrowed it down to the Highlander and Pilot but overall the Pilot is just head and shoulders above the Highlander.
Rolling in New Pilot
Excellent! Best all around value for fuel economy/cargo/passenger seating available. Rides like a car.
Best of Both Worlds
This is an excellent choice for families looking for a mid-size SUV with a huge cargo are when you only need seating for 5, and the advantage of seating for 8 when the need arises. The interior room, features, comfort, and quality and workmanship are excellent. The engine has just the right amount of "get-up-&-go" for the typical family that needs it in city driving. The 17 and 22 gas mileage I think is better than expected for a vehichle of this size with this kind of accelaration.
Happy Honda motoring
Overall, we are very happy with our purchase. A couple of things that I have noticed, as have other Pilot owners, are that the leather on the seats tends to get unattractive wrinkles in it quite easily and the paint seems to scratch/chip quite easily. The Pilot is a solid vehicle which provides the room and seating capacity of a van and the versatility of 4WD. On a trip to Colorado right after our purchase, the DVD entertainment system was worth its weight in gold with our two young children riding in the back. We averaged in the low 20's for mileage.
Love it
The Pilot is awesome -- it rides as smooth as a car and the third rear seat is phenomenal. I went from an Expedition to a Pilot and have never looked back. The third row seat is so user friendly. The car is extremely comfortable inside too. Gas mileage could be a little better. Enjoy.
All That I Expected
This is my first SUV and I don't think I'll ever go back to a regular sedan after being spoiled by being able to see so much better from the higher vantage point. I wanted an SUV that rode and drove like a sedan and had a high degree of reliability and safety. Resale value is also important to me, as well as decent gas mileage. The Honda Pilot delivers on every point and my wife and I both love it.
Sweet Deals in TX
Great vehicle, good price.
Honda Hit the SUV 10++++
I've had numerous SUV's in the past from the too big Suburban to the midsize Pathfinder, the Pilot is the one for my family. Love this SUV. Ride is smooth comfortable, pleasure to drive. Most SUV's are a pain to park, not this baby, whips right in there. With 2 kids and summer travel DVD Please! Pack up the kids, CD case full of movies and you won't here a sound! Loads of cargo space for large trips to the store! Cannot express how much my family and I love this vehicle. My company even purchased one for mail runs and office errands! Honda, keep up the good work!
Honda Pilot
I adore this car. I traded in my Volvo wagon for it and would never look back. The main bone I need to pick is the difficulty in setting up the DVDs to play from the front seat- I need to climb into the back seat to use the menu feature and that is a major PITA. ;)
All that glitters is not gold!!
Be aware if you plan on purchasing this car. You will be forced to buy options at a very highly inflated rate (running boards 1k, fog lights $800, bumper garnish $900). I went into 3 dealerships and none of them would move an inch off the msrp. In fact, msrp was untouchable plus they make you purchase 2 or three options and by the time you're done haggling, you will most likely pay $35-36k if you're lucky. Other than that, the car itself is a nice ride overall. The only gripe is that the car is so plain looking.
best balance..
yeah, it's soft sprung. so what? this is kinda car that you'd take your kids and grand ma out to see grand canyon on a 30hour drive. so softer the better, aight? with that, i don't think anything else can handle the way this truck does. even for a seden, it's quite tight. it's body rolls a bit and it dives somewhat in the corners but that is very very minimal price to pay for that quiet/hushed/cotten-candy ride. joe
Honda Pilot
I bought his vehicle used and am happy so far. The kids enjoy the DVD and my wife enjoys driving it.
