Our 3rd New Odyssey and it will be our Last!
Purchase our 3rd 2018 Odyssey in Nov of 2017 and have had 2 others back in 2014 and 2010. (loved the first 2) This new transmission they have allows the vehicle to move after you put it in Park with your foot on the brake and then shut the engine off. The vehicle is on level ground and will 80% of the time roll backwards after you shut the engine off and then take your foot off the brake. Took it to the dealer and they said that is the way it is supposed to work. If it doesn't mover more than 5 3/4 of an inch it is OK. If it is more then it is supposed to be considered not acceptable. We complained several time about this problem directly to Honda Motors and not the dealer who is no help at all. Still not getting anywhere so I Called the NHTSA and told them about this issue. I still haven't heard back from them. The deal is that this doesn't happen all the time but most of the time. Not sure why when you are purchasing the vehicle they don't tell you Stop and Don't get out of the vehicle until I let my foot off the brake. One would think when the vehicle is shut off it would no longer move, (unless you are on an incline - I get it) but not in your garage or in the parking lot when on level ground. WE ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS NEW VAN. BEWARE!

Nice van but Honda customer service is bad
Overall we have been happy with the van. My wife said at high speeds she is getting a lot of vibration. I took it out and it jumps all over the place when hitting the brakes at high speeds. The van only has 19,000 miles and we need new rotors already. I called the dealership and he begins to tell me that the warranty isnt bumper to bumper anymore because this is a fairly common issue. Honda now says they only warrany rotors for 12,000 miles because of how common it is. I havent ever had a car that the rotors dont last at least 60K miles. I am also shocked they change up thier warranty based on claims they start seeing. This is my first honda and probably last just because of the customer service. I drive a ford (never been a fan until the last few years) They have been awesome. I havent had any problems but when I take it in for oil changes they are great. Might have to trade the van for an SUV.

A beauty to drive. Not good in snow.
This is the 5th minivan we've owned - a Chrysler (junk), two Dodges and two Odesseys. The 2018 Odessey is a beauty to drive - easy, smooth and quiet. So easy for everyone to get in and out of as well as getting pets, groceries and luggage in and out. We have the Elite and it has all the safety gear - the vehicle almost drives itself. The 2018 Odessey almost looks like a crossover or SUV - its hard to tell. So you can drive it without feeling like your driving a minivan. The only downside (our opinion) is its not at all good in snow and we live in Wisconsin and drive to Minneapolis often. I wish they had an AWD option.

Luxurious!
The first time my husband and I saw this minivan, the first thing that came to mind was pure luxury. The seats are leather, but not stiff, very plush. Between the customizable driver’s preferences, a blu-ray player and adjustable climate control for driver, passenger and the back seats, everyone can be comfortable. Not to mention there are a myriad of other features such as Bluetooth phone connection, a built-in Garmin navigation system and heated seats, this van has all that we need and then some!

Awful!!!!
Minivan thinks it knows how to drive better than an experienced driver. From its repeatedly trying to brake for me, to it’s annoying habit of not wanting to move when you push the accelerator, it’s terrible. Wish I never bought this minivan!

I love this car
I’ve had my 2018 Touring for nearly 5 years and 52k miles now and I love my car- enough that my when my husband surprised me with a 2021 Mercedes GLS, I sold it after two weeks and decided to keep the van (don’t get a GLS if you have 3 young children). The Odyssey is perfect for young families, with lots of cargo room, an easy rear entertainment system and super easy access to the third row with the magic slide seats. My son was only 3 when he got sent to the back row and I could easily reach him, to buckle or help him. There are plenty of spaces to keep snacks and supplies, the front open area by the center console is perfect for a small bag to throw trash, and the center console itself is spacious enough, especially now that we have a mask collection. The leather all still looks great after years abuse and the seats are great for car seats to easily be put in or removed. My gas mileage is ok, roughly 20 mpg with lots of carlines and city driving. The ride itself is smooth and the v6 is quick, for a van. When I got it, the Sienna was ancient, the Sedona was crap and I honestly just didn’t like the Pacifica (and I wanted those magic slide seats, which I have used a ton). If I were shopping today, I’d definitely check out the new Sienna with 36 mpg, and possibly the new Carnival. But honestly, I think I’d choose the Odyssey again, especially since it’s had no issues besides basic maintenance.

Persistent electrical issues from the first month
Our minivan has had numerous electric issues resulting in our Honda dealer completely re-wiring our minivan only to have the same issues pop up again. The first electrical issue was the DVD player kept messing up and the speakers would make a static/crackling and popping noises even when the entertainment system and radio were turned off. The cabin watch camera would constantly mess up and say “Camera image not available”, the back up camera would also mess up. We were driving down the NYS Thruway at 75mph and the sliding door open warning light would go off for no reason as would the collision mitigation system warning. We were going about 70 mph with no vehicles in front of us, behind us, or along side of us and the collusion warnings would go off like we were backing up into something. We brought the vehicle to the dealer numerous times and they eventually came out with a recall on the infotainment system and replaced the wiring harness but a few months later and it started doing it again. They also had to replace the fuel injectors about a month ago but Honda covered that because they gave a 10 year 150k mile extended warranty on the fuel injectors. Our service technician said it’s a known problem in cold weather climates for those Honda Earth Dreams direct injection engines. My vehicle is out of warranty now (it’s 4 years old and has 49k miles on it) and I can’t drive 30 minutes without the crackling and popping noises coming out of the speakers again. The dealer met their obligations with the recall work but it didn’t permanently fix the issues. Now we are looking for a 2022 Toyota Sienna Platinum but there is a 8-10 month wait time due a nationwide shortage. My wife wants to dump this Honda and never buy another Honda again. I just wish Honda would make it right and stand behind their vehicles when they obviously knew these vehicles were flawed from the start. This minivan was a waste of $47,000 because we had to pull over numerous times on long road trips from upstate NY to Myrtle Beach, SC as well as annual trips to Hershey Park and Wildwood, NJ for Brazilian jiu jitsu tournaments just to turn the vehicle off and hope the issues would “reset” so our young kids could watch movies and we wouldn’t have to deal with loud popping and crackling noises coming from the speakers and false collusion warnings. Even though we are ordering a Sienna, we are still stuck driving this Odyssey Elite for another 8-10 months until it comes in. We are seriously debating renting another minivan for our trip to Hershey Park and Wildwood this summer.

Worst handling van
It is the worst handling van I have ever owned. The 2014 we had was way better this one. Had transmission issue jerking at 24 mph. An issue Honda knows about. Made me pay $115 to have it programmed a month after we bought it.
2018 Elite Dissapointments Outweigh Benefits
I purchased a 2018 Elite to replace out 2008 EX-L. We owned the 2008 from 60k miles to 160k miles. Great Van. The Elite had 58k miles on it at time of purchase. At 66k miles the Rear Entertainment System computer died. 1 week before a 500 mile road trip making all features behind the drivers seats not able to function. This cost us $2100 to repair. I had it repaired at a Honda Dealer and submitted a claim through Honda to reimburse me something. It was denied. Talk about disappointing. I do not recommended this van. The entire 8 years of owning the 2008 resulted in less overall cost than this 1 repair on a lower mileage vehicle. Yikes. Other things to consider, it is a gas hog in the city like 15 mpg or so and just ok on the highway. The rear A/C is inadequate and comes from the belt line vs down from the ceiling. It also seems to go through tires quickly.

Worst Built Vehicle I Have Owned
I have owned vehicles from almost all brands from America and Asia and I thought I hit rock bottom owning a Chrysler until I bought a Honda. The 2018 Odyssey Touring I owned had the door seals broken when I bought it, moonroof seals were not aligned but at least it did not leak. The door tag with the VIN was broken and Honda would not replace it. The infotainment would freeze constantly and make a static noise. The rear DVD player would only work if it was 60 degrees or cooler, on warmer temperatures it would freeze. And the worst flaw was the passenger side power sliding door. Honda was sued for the infotainment issue and the Power Sliding Door defect, they never fixed either and provided 15,000-20,000 miles of added warranty to the issue as a settlement with no fix. Most car manufacturers would at least pretend to care or give you a lame excuse of why their vehicle is having an issue, but Honda would not acknowledge anything or care to respond. From the Dealer to Honda of North America, the service is atrocious.

Disappointing headlight
I own a 2018 EXL. The headlight is do dim that it is scary to drive a t night considering that most manufacturers equip their cars from the mid level trim to their highest wti LEDs. I have tried using some aftermarket LED bulbs but seem to be as inefficient with the light diffusion, it had a narrow beam which reduces visbility on the side of the vehicle. I resorted to using aftermarket 6000K HID bulbs, and htey provided better visibility, however, like the LED replacement, i had a blind or dim section to the immediate side of the vehicle compared to my Toyotas.

Life time Honda fan, but no more!
I purchased a 2018 odyssey. It has been nothing but a problem. It was in the shop for more than 30 days right when I got it. It was declared a lemon. Then they replaced it with a new one. Within a year of having the new one, it needed a new transmission. This make and model and year has had nothing but issues. I owned the car for about 5 years and finally moved onto a different brand of car. It’s a shame that Honda has lost a lifetime customer. I felt a weight lifted off me once I changed brands of cars. Honda didn’t do anything about the continuing problems I had. I always had to dish out more money for things that went wrong. They should be ashamed of themselves for all the aggravation.

Best mom-mobile
This van is the 3rd Odyssey we’ve had. First (2005 Touring) was driven to 368k. Second (2012 EXL) was driven to 250k. Current one is at 168k and has had no problems! Super comfortable on trips with relatively good fuel economy. One big thing to think about when purchasing these vans and being a high mileage driver is the 100k timing maintenance. It is usually around $2k and is required. Highly recommend these vans!

Why I didn't buy
I loved this van except for the black carpets. I like light colors inside and they were not available in the 2018 so, I bought a Sienna that fit the colors I like. I still like the Odessey better. I loved the way it drove and all the safety features. I like the feel of the van hugging the highway. I also like the looks of the Odessey better than the Sienna....but, being female I went with the light colors inside the van.

Secound time is great
after 26 years of owning Town and Country I purchased a 2014 Odyssey. It was better than the Town and Country but not what I was expecting concerning the electronics especially the voice recognition feature. Well my 2018 is great. It fixes all of the issues and it is significantly quieter. Now that I have had the vehicle for one year I can say that except for a few issues it has been a great van. The bluetooth will not work with my iPhone 8 but does work with my wife's older iPhone 7 and the dealer can't fix the issue. The door locks are not logical in how they work (should be a Honda engineer to talk to).

RES & Cabinwatch failure
Like other reviews stated, we were sold a 2018 Elite Odyssey warning a car for road trips with our kids. He cabin watch and RES features were the primary reasons we bought this thing. Honda knew about issues with these features yet mentioned nothing to us about it and sold the van to us anyway. We have contacted the dealership numerous times only to be told that Honda is aware of it but has no fix. The dealership also mentioned that Honda specifically said dealerships can not replace parts until a fix has been released from Honda. Very shady. My whole family has had Honda’s since I was little and we are all disgusted with how they have changed their their lack of customer service. Never again. Going with Toyota or someone else in the future.

Infotainment Issued and XM Going Out
I have had my wife’s new Mini Van into the shop a few times now because the infotainment system has some type of malfunction. This happens at random and since the Honda techs don’t see it they said there is nothing they can do. I am about to take the Van in again as everytime you start the car the XM and audio system has issues. Hopefully Honda can correct my problem.

Constant door problems that the dealership don't want to fix transmission problems as well. Only way I could get out of this van was to trade it on a Ram truck. Very happy with my ram truck

Constant Electronic problems. Major repairs needed
This van started with popping noise in the speakers 6 months into owning it. Honda has replaced just about every electrical component. Every time they "fixed" the van it would be ok for a few weeks then more issues would happen. Radio not working, constant popping noises, audio components turning off mid drive. Finally after 2 years of complaining honda replaced the entire wiring harness. This consisted of them gutting the van and starting from scratch. Now we are 5 weeks out from that fix and while my wife is driving the whole van powers down. No music, speedometer anything. Honda doesn't have a fix and constantly give you the run around. I am starting to look for a new van (even though I can't really afford it) because I think this one might kill my family. Very Disappointed with this whole Honda experience. This is my First and Last Honda.

Run Away!!
I've owned a 2018 Odyssey Touring for almost 3 years. Unlike my 2010 Odyssey this one is a piece of junk. So far it's had 6 recalls for safety issues. Keep in mind that recalls are things that Honda has found to be cheaper to admit to and fix rather than doing nothing and letting people die due to a defected part or software glitch. Recalls do not include the little things that are more creature comforts. I've had to get a couple trim pieces replaced because they began to warp. My first winter I owned it I had no heat and was freezing in a new $45k van due to a blower motor in the front not working. Meanwhile, the blower motor for the second and third row also had to be replaced because it made a really loud and annoying noise anytime it was used. Due to the amount of vans with this problem the blower motor parts were on back order for several months. This also meant I had a brand new van in Texas with no air conditioning during summer!! I contacted Honda on Facebook and they immediately contacted me privately to look into the problem but due to the outrageous amount of blower motor failures Honda could not even estimate when it could be repaired. Another problem vehicles with push button gear shift have is the inability to put them into neutral if it does not start making it impossible to be towed except by a trained tow truck driver who knows how to manually put the transmission into neutral. At this time there’s been owners waiting hours for a tow because of this design flaw. My 2010 Odyssey that I owned for 7 years was a total beast. You could not kill that thing. The 2018 sits in the driveway and falls apart. I'm upside down in what I owe on this piece of crap otherwise I would have gotten rid of a year or two ago. The minute I can get rid of it I will so do yourself a favor and stay away.. far away from these things!
