comfortable ride
i recommend the base lx version if you can live without the expensive "bells and whistles"..the lx is well equiped, roomy, and comfortable on long trips...if you don't need a vehicle for towing and want a lot of room, this and other minivans are a much better value than large suv's..don't worry about the "soccer mom" stigma...no reliability issues so far..highly recommended...
Just out of Warranty
We just passed 36K and are making first trip to the dealer for the brakes. I think it's a little early for a $200 brake job, but gotta do it. Other than that, great vehicle thus far, especially on long trips!

Great van, but tires don't last long
The van was a great purchase and is fun to drive. It is very comfortable and have had little issues. I would have passed on the Touring and purchased the next level with the entertainment system, since the tires wear about 24K miles and are very costly.
Disappointed
I purchased this mini van looking for better gas mileage than my Durango. I'm getting the same mileage (my calculations agree with the electronic one) 13/16 MPG. The temp. gauge has never worked properly and am told that it was set at the factory and nothing can be done. But the biggest shock is the Pax tires. I got a puncture in the sidewall today. Pulled into a shop and was told that only Honda can replace the Pax tire because the tire and wheel are one. Honda charges $300 for a new wheel. As far as driving on the flat, I was told by Honda service that if I drive more than a few miles on it, I chance doing more damage - more money. So as I write this, I'm waiting for a tow truck.
We want the funk
One of the better driving vehicles out there. Not sure why people are bashing the mileage, they're driving 2 tons on four wheels! I get about 25 for road trips and 16-17 local driving (I've noticed that frequent start and stops with short distances <10 miles will drop the mileage on any car) It gets about the same or better mileage than my 02 Maxima. Ride comfort could be a little better like the Sienna but I would have to sacrafice handling. Love the space in the back, way more utility than a SUV. Actually wish there was an extended version. Love the overall design and look, IMHO the best looking minivan out there.
Overall Excellent; Poor MPG
Drives very well for a large vehicle; never been wanting for more power; comfortable on long hauls; tremendous storage space and configurations; no coin holder; very good headlights; strange and confusing button layout for climate controls; we get 13.5 MPG around town (<5 miles) and 22-23 MPG on fwy; cloth seats are wearing very well; turning radius is OK; pretty easy to parallel park; excellent visibility; powerful A/C; seats 8 (4 adults + 4 kids in car seats + beach gear) pretty well - wouldn't want to drive more than a hour like that; second row seats are pretty easy to remove - I've had 4'x8' plywood sheets inside with tailgate closed!; clear gauges; silly number of cup holders.
Excellent Van
There are only 2 complaints I have for the Odyssey. The location of the gear shiftobtrusive. Auto sliding doors sensitivity. Let me explain: the gear shift is in a weird spot, between the steering wheel and the radio controls. Usually, it would be connected to the steering wheel or below the radio controls. Because of that difference it takes getting used to. Then the two sliding doors will not operate if vehicle is not in park or if you pull the handles the wrong way. The car system will "beep" if not handled right. Although it may be viewed as a good safety feature, it becomes annoying when others are not familiar with the van. Everything else about it is great!
06 Odyssey
Overall my odyssey has been pretty good.. I had to take it it for a recall for the power steering pump about 6 months of ownership. The pump was making a whining noise like Fords I've driven in the past. This is my first Honda. My wife and I hope to keep it a long time.
Odyssey EX-L w/ Nav is one great minivan
Upgraded from a '97 Nissan Quest after testing driving the new Quest and Sienna. This is the best minivan out there in terms of performance, safety, reliability, feature and price. The exterior design could be better but not as bad as the new Quest. Took two long trips and the mileage is around 25 which is worse than 28 EPA but still better than the old Quest, city is about 20MPG. Nav, 6 disk CD/stereo with XM, moonroof, pwr rear window, sunshade, rear DVD, in floor storage, fold down rear seats are nice. Leather package worth the difference with VCM engine. Glad I passed on the problematic/expensive Touring. Add towing package and fog lights. Good ride but harsher than the old Quest.
Those BLASTED tires!
This is my 2nd Odyssey I've purchased and overall I am very pleased. The navigation system is a pleasure to have but sometimes it does very dorky things like make stupid lengthy detours around established routes that make no sense. Also new establishments are not available to find. Now the tires are another matter. My previous odyssey needed new tires at ~65,000 miles for approx. $600 but my new one needs 4 new PAX tires now at 40,000 miles at a cost over $1000 which are difficult to find and install except at the dealership! Extremely frustrating and aggravating but otherwise I only brag about all it's other good features.
Interior needs work
Me and my wife have this van for 2 yrs. Fuel economy stinks, entertainment stopped working after six months. We have the ex cloth w/entertainment. Should have gotten ex-L without entertainment. We have children and for that it is great. Comfort is good. Overall good.
Great Riding Van
I'm very happy with my van, due to health problems I haven't been able to drive it as much as I want. The MPG are pretty good 17-18 city & 26 Hwy. I've read some reviews that stated poor gas mileage. maybe they are driving at 90 on the Hwy, I'm driving 70-75. The worst Hwy MPG I've gotten was 24 MPG. Am I happy I bough it ? Yes !!
wheel bearings
Hard driven 96,000 miles, 1st real problem ever is front wheel bearings, gotten so bad so fast, was first mistaken for noisy out of alignment tires, @ 48 mph is worse, put car in neutral and cut off engine (in a safe manner) if noise remain it is a $850 repair job @ a Honda dealer. Watch out for the common scams, you have water in your transmission and your $700 engine mounts are broken, 2 @ $1400.1st ever brake pads in front, spark plugs but was not needed, 6 cd changer is stupid in today's cars, they break, mp3 is better and cheaper choice. Anyway dealers double charges you for everything, $60 for shop supplies? Engine mounts for $1400 and scare tactics you're going to crash, will hurt Honda's reputation.
Expected More
I've been driving this van for several months now and it has it's quarks that my Chrysler Town & Country didn't have. Noisy interior, hard suspension, A/C stops working when engine is at idle during hot days (stuck in traffic), transmission slow to engage into gear from park (slow into reverse or drive), CD player doesn't have a rewind (so you need to listen to an entire track again if you miss something, bad for instructional cds), steering pulls hard to the same direction you are turning under acceleration, throttle is at times slow to respond (has a delay between pushing the gas and the van moving), easy to confuse automatic side doors if someone pulls the handle after I push the button.
Thank Goodness for Warranties
I love the look of the van and the way it handles like a car. We bought the van new and have had several problems. First within the first year the power steering pump had to be replaced. I was told by the dealer they had to replace a lot of them but no recalls were issued. Next the emergency brake was leaking inside the van all over the floorboard and had to be fixed. The latest problems have been the struts and the transmission. The back struts have blown and had to be replaced. I am now waiting for a call from the dealer to have the transmission case replaced because it is leaking. I have 31,000 miles on the van and am still under warranty, thank goodness.
Our approval rating
This vehicle is a delight to drive. It holds the road very well. We like the separate temperature controls for each front seat. I makes for true comfort. It many outstanding features such as the best security with airbags. Many storage areas and ease in getting in and out. It's perfect for a family as it has more seating area. Sports fans will love the ease of tailgating parties since the hatch opens to a perfect height to place your food. We keep our dog's bed in the back and she loves going with us everywhere. Our only complaint is the noise factor. We don't hear our CD's as well as we should because of the road noise. Other than that, we love this car and find it hard to part with.
Costly , should not have problems
The van has had AC problems from day one! The air went out on a trip and could not get it fixed. The AC still does not get as cold as our GMC pick- up. For a van costing over $30,000 it should have a perfect AC. The struts had to be replaced early after purchase. The front end feels loose and sometimes makes noise. Road noise is terrible. The van is attractive, comfortable seats and nice quality of leather. When you are sweating because of AC that does not cool enough that pretty leather sticks to your body! I would not purchase another Honda van. the gas mileage is only 17 and our GMC pickup gets that!
Not that good on gas!
The Honda van is very nice inside as far as style, comfort. The main complaint is the AC going out two times. The struts went out early in the game, and the road noise is loud. I cannot hear my children asking questions from the seat in far back of the van. I do like the separate climate control, heated front seats, shades for the children and the sliding doors.

Great Van For The Price
If you know what to look for, these are great vans. Now not all of them are created equal and people don't usually maintain these, so get maintenance records and make sure the transmission fluid and engine oil were both changed religiously. I recommend the Toyota Sienna any day, but for the price I paid for mine ($1,500), I'm very happy. The transmission and engine a both pretty smooth given it has 227k miles.

258,704 miles
258,704 miles on this 2006 Honda Minivan. I haven’t had a car payment since 2009. I’m going to drive this van until it crumbles beneath me.

Was disappointed in the van
The van rides well but the gas mileage is not anywhere near the figures quoted. Have owned this van 4 months and it has been in the shop 3 times already. Has had the brakes go out - and there was a recall on them. The passenger seatbelt is uncomfortable and Honda does not have an extension available. Has had one run-flat tire already had to be replaced. We found to replace the run-flat tire is $650.00 according to the dealer. Thought the hidden compartment was cool - but found is impractical to use.
Honda forever
I was recently traveling at 65 miles an hour when I ran over a piece of metal on the interstate. I lost control of the car for a moment but managed to keep the van straight. Unfortunately, my back axle broke but the Honda handled it extremely well. I thought for sure we were about to have a horrific accident but the Honda managed to keep all four tires on the ground and we ended up on the shoulder of the road. God played the biggest part in keeping my family safe but thank you, Honda for Vehicle Stability Assist. I could feel the wheels fighting the urge to leave the road. The reason my husband and I chose this vehicle was safety and I'm so pleased that the investment paid off.
Greatness
This car is amazing, I actually like taking this car out, and I'm only 18, it drives very well. I was recently with a big group of friends and we would've had to call up a 3rd car if it wasn't for the Odyssey... it hauled the required 8 people with ease. I was very pleased. The car is far more planted and composed than the Pilot that I usually drive, it's very sure of itself, it has good grip. My friends seem to love the car as well, they find it very comfortable, as do I. It is a road trip maestro. However the brakes are a little wonky compared to the Pilot, the pedal travel is far too long, and it stinks when it comes time to park this thing because it's so big, vs. the just stick it Pilot.
2006 Honda Touring
This was my first Honda purchase and will be my last. I spent an extra $7000 over the Town and Country, expecting to get better quality, but was disappointed at the nagging problems: too much interior noise, poor quality sound system, funny sounds at low engine speeds, poor braking distance, sliding door problems, moulding strips came loose, overrated gas mileage (I never got more 18 mpg). BEWARE, this car handles terribly in wet/cold conditions. My wife can't make it up the driveway. Worst of all, Michelin PAX tires cost $350 each to replace and only last 25,000 mi. This car is too expensive to maintain down the road and cost too much up front for the Honda name. I traded for the Enclave
Honda Odyssey
I am a first time Honda owner. This vehicle far surpasses all the other vehicles I have owned in my lifetime. The color is perfect, Desert Sand Metallic, the ease in driving is wonderful, as far as the car's performance I expect to have nothing but good things to say about it since I have only owned it for two days. I love the way the car handles and everything is in easy reach for the driver. Visibility is superb as is the sound system. I would heartily recommend this vehicle to any prospective buyer.
Great Van
The new honda with 200 miles got 24 MPg on our first trip. This van is fun to drive, and love the voice activated navigation, the DVD and the XM radio.
