Very comfortable small car that hauls heaps

UPDATE: Still a great car. Edmonds contacted me and asked I update my review of the Honda Fit. We bought it new in 2010 and now in 2020 it still drives and runs as well as the day we drove it off the lot. We have put on a new set of tires over the year and of course gas and oil. Otherwise, completely trouble free. I'm 6'3" and getting in and out of this car is easy. Inside it feels big. Hard to believe it is a small car. Honda did a great job with cabin space. And it hauls heaps of stuff. The folding rear seats are really trick. The ride is sturdy and it handles well. We have the sport model. Acceleration is good enough to accelerate the on ramps to freeway speed but it is not a rocket car. At 70 mph on the freeway there is still enough to get it up to 80 mph to pass. It does not feel under powered on the freeways. I love the ergonomics: cup holders where you want them, controls easy to reach, everything with in good reach and easy to find. Best little car we have ever owned. Ten years later and not a single service issue. Very good quality car.

I bought my 2010 Fit Sport new and now have almost 80,000 miles on it. It has required zero service other than the Takata airbag recall that hit every other manufacturer as well. Just a change of tires and brake pads at this point. I’ve read a lot of other reviews here and want to specifically address a couple of things. If you have a bad back or bad neck, no car will be comfortable for you. If you want the acceleration of a Ferrari, then buy one, not a car designed to be frugal. I am so happy with my Fit I might drive this car 200,000 to 250,000 miles. It is so well engineered for a small car that I can’t imagine finding anything better. The interior is the only place Einstein’s theory of spacetime is violated because the car truly seems bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. The seats are so well designed it feels as if the car will swallow almost anything. By taking the headrest off the front passenger seat and folding it flat as well, you can even place 8 foot long 2 x 4s diagonally in the car and close the rear hatch. I’ve thrown a tarp in the car and hauled large cacti around, and the fact the rear seats quickly fold completely flat makes it very versatile. Yep, in a strong crosswind this tall car gets blown around a little at highway speeds, but nothing compared to riding a motorcycle in the same conditions. Four adults and a child can ride with plenty of room and comfort all day, five adults could ride for a short while without much complaint. Gas mileage is very good, probably not the best of its class, but not a disappointment. I use the paddle shifters all the time and love them, both for acceleration and going down steep hills to control the speed. Fantastic visibility thanks to all the glass, and you can squeeze it into a parking space 2 feet longer than the car itself if you’re talented. Lots of cupholders. No armrest for the front passenger which I believe also happens in other Honda models. I don’t get it. Drives really well in snow and ice and will get stuck when the snow depth reaches the frame, JUST LIKE ANY AWD or 4 WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE. The final thing to say? I’m lucky enough that I could afford to drive just about anything on the road. I’m staying with my Fit and will have many $1000s leftover to invest, take a vacation, or save for another day. Update on 4/22/21: Still by far the best car I’ve ever owned, and I’ve driven many things over the years. I spent a few minutes last weekend wondering what shiny brand new vehicle I might buy to replace my Fit and could not think of anything I’d rather have no matter what the price. I just replaced all the fluids, spark plugs, and the serpentine belt. My Honda dealer said the brakes were still great and didn’t want to change the hoses even though I gave them permission to do so. I forgot to mention I have used an Inno roof rack for special occasions for years to haul extra large items like my kayak or pieces of plywood home from my local home improvement store. I do NOT take the car on the freeway with these large items strapped to it but limit myself to 50 mph at the most on side roads. Like most drivers, I only infrequently need to do this. Who needs a truck with poor gas mileage and high insurance rates? And why spend 50K on an electric vehicle or hybrid? When mass production drives the cost of electric vehicles down, then I’ll consider the switch. Until then I’ll take my immediate savings up front. Update: Now 126,000 miles. Still in love with it. Zero unexpected repairs. When the transmission oil level dropped a bit a sensor let me know before the transmission went out. A stop at Autozone gave me the diagnosis code for free, topped up the transmission oil with a quart of genuine Honda tranny oil. That’s beautiful engineering not expected in the lowest car in the lineup that cost Honda some money. Most other cars would have had a dipstick only and I would never have known until it was too late.

We wanted a roomy, high quality, low cost vehicle, and this is exactly what Honda delivered. I've owned a muscle car, a Vette and the VTEC, and I have to put this little guy up there with them for performance and handling, especially when passing. I did a cross-country trip in it, and actually slept two nights in it at rest stops. It's a small car...likely not as comfortable as our 1996 Explorer...but 14 hour days on the road worked...and the mileage clocked in at 35mpg. Like any Honda, I expect to drive this one for 800,000...and then bequeath it to my heirs in 20 years.

I had a head-on accident with a large truck doing 35 to 40 MPH in my 2009 Honda Fit. I came out of the accident with only bruising from the seat belts, and a cracked sternum (breastbone). The air bags worked the way they were supposed to. Family members who saw the actual damage and a friend who saw pics of the car damage are amazed I was not killed in the accident. I am now looking for another Honda Fit. I strongly recommend it for safety, as well as all other categories.

Excellent Small Car

I selected the 5-speed manual as the automatic stole too much power from the engine. The manual offers surprising performance, smooth acceleration, and is averaging a 28-30 MPG around town. Very fun to drive and has good handling for small car. It can be loud at highway speeds due to road noise and high engine RPM. No problems with front seat comfort as others mention I am 6'2". The rear magic seat is amazing. With everything folded down, the fit will swallow an unbelievable amount of cargo, surpassing many small SUVs. Audio system is excellent. Interior design is simple and functional, but does not feel cheap. No other small car can provide so much value and versatility.

I bought my fit in December 2018 with 88,500 miles on it for $5700. I was a senior in high school and it was the first car I had ever bought using entirely my own money that I had worked for, so I put a lot of thought and research into the purchase. Now in December of 2022, I have been driving it for four years and the car has 147,000 miles. It has been extremely cheap to maintain and own, and these are the issues I have had with it since I bought it: - Transmission pressure switch: I had an engine light pop up when the car had around 100k miles on it and was told that it needed a new sensor in the transmission. The part was about $120 from Honda and since I was away at college at the time I had no garage/tools to install it - otherwise I would have fixed this myself since it is relatively simple. At the dealership it was around $350 total for parts and labor. - TPMS sensors: This is just a common thing that goes in 10-15 year old vehicles nowadays and not at all a necessary fix, but still is worth noting. I let mine go for a couple years until I had new tires put on the car and Walmart did all four of them for $80 since they already had the tires off. - AC blower motor: Less than a year after I bought the car I noticed a grinding sound coming from behind the glove box, and that ended up being a bad bearing in the blower motor. I bought the part (the whole thing) for $80 from an auto parts store and installed it myself (note: to replace the blower motor on a fit there's literally only 3 screws you have to touch and they're all philips head. I was able to take the old one out and put the new one in in less than 20 minutes with just a youtube video for reference.) - Rear wiper motor: Ever since I bought it the rear wiper has never worked, but it's never been something I though was worth fixing - though the motor is only about 100 bucks and (surprise surprise) extremely easy to install. I'm just used to not having one at this point anyways. - Heat shield: a few weeks ago the car started clattering while I was driving down the road, so I took it to Honda and was told it was just a damaged heat shield. They told me they repaired the heat shield and reinstalled it, and I haven't heard any strange noises ever since. This was about $75. Aside from the things listed above, the car has been pretty bulletproof. All of those repairs were fairly minimal, and the thing still runs and drives like new. I have driven my fit just about everywhere - I have taken it to Colorado twice (I'm from Missouri) and even took it up the highest paved road in North America - the road to Mount Evans. It is a great road trip car, the thing even has cup holders in front of the AC vents in the front which keeps your drinks cold in the summer and your coffee warm in the winter. That's genius. I have taken myself and three friends on a mountain biking trip with four mountain bikes on the back with no problems (I installed a trailer hitch for my bike rack for about $100). I can hook my new iPhone up to the stock radio via usb and navigate through my music library, even though mine doesn't have the navigation system. I get about 28 mpg around town and can get up to 38 on the highway if I keep it under 70 mph. I have moved three times since I bought it and I can attest to the fact that this car will haul just about ANYTHING you can throw at it. I even own a small motorcycle (a Kawasaki Z125 pro) and can fit that thing in my fit STANDING UP. I can't even fit that bike in my mom's new Highlander standing up! I think the car is actually pretty fun to drive, especially when you take it on twisty backroads and throw the 5AT into sport mode. It doesn't have a lot of power but I have never had any issues keeping up with traffic - on I-70 in CO, the car went up several long and very steep grades with a bunch of luggage and two adults with no problem at 70 mph. It strained a little, but still made it and kept its' pace. In the winter, the car handles fine as long as you have good tires on it but it's no subaru of course. It does have pretty even weight distribution though due to how light the engine is and that helps a lot anytime the roads get slick. I have done oil changes every 5-7k miles and all of the preventative maintenance that anyone should do. I have done the coolant, tranny fluid every 30k miles (more often than you are supposed to change it but I like to always be ahead on that kinda stuff), brake fluid, brake pads and tires. That's about it. If I could go back in time and do it all over again, I wouldn't do anything different. I love my fit and it has been an amazing vehicle for me. I honestly don't know if I will ever get rid of it since it still feels like it has a good 100k miles left in it at least. I would highly recommend this car to just about anyone.

I've had my Fit for 6 months, and have really enjoyed driving it and have had no problems with it. I do a combination of city/highway driving and average 36- 37 mpg overall. I have the Sport package which overall has a great look and is fun to drive. I did purchase floor mats, body side moldings, and window tint after market (see below re:improvements). As others have stated, the upholstery attracts fuzz, so I carry a lint roller in the car.

I bought the Fit Sport automatic for a commuter car. It is fun to drive, though I've been a bit disappointed with the gas mileage. I'm averaging 29, but at least half of it is highway driving. Pros: Fun to drive Decent "pep" Good handling Fit/finish excellent Small size allows you to park just about anywhere Cons: Underpowered AC - car is a mini solar oven with all the glass and black interior. AC has to stay cranked to cool the car. Poor cup holder placement - ones between gear shift and dash useless. Ones in front of vents need closed in order to keep coffee warm while AC is on. No drivers lumbar adjustment Flimsy trunk panel covering spare - can't hold much weight.

Great car that I’ve owned for nine years

I’ve owned this car for nine years and just put $1400 into it for maintenance for the hundred thousand mile mark. Otherwise have never put a dime into it besides regular maintenance and never had a problem. Very roomy on the inside is I am a large man. Was thinking about replacing it this year because of the miles and buying something brand new but there’s nothing out there that’s built as well as a Honda fit especially the older ones that came from Japan. I average 42 miles to the gallon and I’m completely amazed by its pick up its responsiveness and handling. The only complaint is it’s like an oven with the air-conditioning going in the summer because all of the glass. I’m considering getting the tinting done on the windows but I don’t see real well at night so I might forgo that. But the 2010 Honda fit is definitely a good value for the money. I live in northern Wisconsin where the snow gets very deep and it doesn’t go through very deep snow but I just wait till the roads are plowed and it’s just fine.

Deceptive in all ways, best small car ever made

I previously owned a 2013 Mazda2. That care was a fantastic small car. The manual transmission shifted smoothly and the car handled like a slot car. It was basically a FWD 5 door hatch version of the Miata. But it was a small car. The rear seat was useless when my 6' frame was behind the wheel and it had no storage room. A great small car. The Fit checks off every single box that the Mazda2 did but it does it in a package that is deceptively useful. First, Honda dialed in a bit more width. As such, the seats are over 21" wide and offer a lot of side to side room. The car also has more wheelbase and length than the Mazda2, offering more room for me. Furthermore, when I set the driver's seat where I want it, I can get out and sit in the rear seat with a reasonable amount of comfort. The front seat has as much useable room as most full sized vehicles. Honda then designed a compact rear suspension and stuffed the fuel tank under the front seats. The result of this is a ridiculous amount of room in the back. The "Magic Seat" rear seat offers numerous storage options and it has cargo hauling that rivals most midsized SUV's. The 2010 I have is currently 11 years old and has over 170,000 miles on it. The drivers seat is worn and I have had to install new floor mats and clutch/brake pedal rubber covers. These things are notable as they are the only parts of the car that show any wear. The car uses no oil and goes down the road as tight as a drum. I am 52 and have owned a lot of cars. This is the pick of the litter. They still cost a mint, even used, but they are worth every single nickel.

I had a 2007 and traded it to buy a 2009 GTi. The Gti was reliable and a very fun car to own . But its achilles heel was ultimately its high cost to maintain, and the GTi was good at emptying my wallet. Premium was all it was ever fed, and with gas the way it is, 60 dollar tanks were regular. i picked this up for a great price (brand new, in 2011) and it has proven to be a far improved car than its predecessor. I was afraid of loosing my Gti's highspeed stability, and overall feeling of solidity, but the fit, given the difference in weight and how tall it is, makes a good case for itself. it may be slower, but its tossability makes it more fun to drive. And now my wallet is more full :)

I've owned the Fit for over three months and 3200 miles. Averaged 38.8 mpg by the computer and my records. It is as much fun as a 60's MG or Triumph. Previous car was a BMW X-3 and this is more fun and I've discovered I don't need the automatic air, fancy stuff and most of all, high cost. I love the car because it is fun and frugal and since mine is 5- speed and Milano Red, everyone breaks their neck looking at it.

I purchased the Fit after my beloved Jeep Wrangler developed Death Wobble and I sunk over $1000 into repairs that did not work. I needed something practical, for a change, but I hated giving up the incredible fun of a Jeep. Ten months later I have no regrets at all. We have a blue model that we call the TARDIS because it really is impossibly larger inside than outside. My 3 children and 6' tall husband all fit comfortably, although I haven't tried to put 3 adults in the back. Mileage with mostly big city driving is consistently 30 MPG, and on a mostly highway trip was 48 MPG.

Having downsized from an Accord to a 2010 Fit Sport automatic and I wasn't sure what to expect at first. After a short time, I am pleasantly surprised by this car and amazed at how much room there is on the inside considering how small it is on the outside. The interior is very well put together with numerous storage areas and thoughtful touches. I find my Fit sport to be pretty comfortable for such a small car, with plenty of leg room and head room. The seats themselves are very supportive and well bolstered and the interior is versatile. The ride and handling is sporty while being comfortable overall. Power is good for the size of the Fit, and mpg is excellent! You can't go wrong !

My previous ride was a 2008 Altima SE. I needed to have a better fuel efficient car because I drive to work 100 miles each day. I put about 1500 miles since my purchase and I am speechless. The car does not feel small at all! I can hardly feel any difference from riding a sedan from my fit. The 1.5L engine is a bit small but it rides very well. I do feel lack of power on hills I would not have noticed on bigger cars but I'm not disappointed. I don't know how Honda did it, but the Fit is truly awesome.

I found a local 2010 Fit Sport Auto in February of 2021 with a mere 9K miles on the odometer, literally a needle in a haystack that I could not pass up. A clear CarFax, some service records and a thumbs up from the local Honda dealership inspection sealed the deal. Now with 13K miles, I have enjoyed the Fit as a replacement for my dear departed 2013 Prius I sold with 120K miles. I bought the Fit for in-town errands and occasional long business trips. COVID has limited the long trips thus far, but I believe the Fit stacks up pound for pound with any cars when mileage (33 city + 36 highway), reliability, and usefulness are measured. The driver's seat has proven to be comfortable on longer drives and the Fit handles well, though it can be a bit buzzy, but I knew that going into the purchase. The A/C works well and the auxiliary hookup with my iPod is appreciated. I'm hoping to keep this Fit at least 10-15 years. Update 08/22 = The Fit has passed 27K miles as it has been used for Idaho to Cali business trips. Not the most comfortable or quiet ride ever, but it does the job with great mileage and reliability. Very versatile and roomy to hold my giant mountain bike (with front wheel off). Heading in for a major service soon to change out the fluids.

Great Car, but Tires are a problem

All, although I love my 2010 Fit Sport, there is a serious issue with tire selection, particularly for those that live in snowy areas. Because of all the snow and ice in Maine this year, I decided that I should remove the Dunlop OEM tires, put on higher quality all-season radials. Other than the Dunlop, which is backordered in many cases, a Honda Fit Sport owner only has two options in the 185 55R 16 size: Bridgestone Turanzo El 470 ($140 a tire) or a Bridgestone Potenza ($100 a tire). Neither tire is rated well in wintry conditions. I inquire about snow tires in this size; nobody manufactures them. I asked my dealership if I could put on a different size tire, and they did not recommend it. Neither did they recommend a difference size rim. Please call Honda at (800) 999-1009 to voice your concern about tire selection for the Honda Fit Sport!

I was a little disappointed in my fit. It got me places just fine. Once I hit 150k it kinda went a little down hill. Ignition went first, then an axle broke. Closer to 180k the transmission went. I was hoping for the long haul of at least 200-250k but maybe that’s just wishful thinking. Other than that I have always loved driving it, love the wide range windows.

In finding a new car to replace my wife's ailing Mercury Sable, we had a unique problem; I'm 5'9" and she's 5'0", so finding a car that we could both fit into comfortably has been challenging. With that, the Honda Fit was one of the few cars both of us could find a comfortable driving position in. So beyond a fantastically designed interior, this car has been a fantastic commuter for me. I drive 80 miles a day round trip on expressways in Michigan, and have managed to get 38 mpg while driving 70 mph. With that, I was worried that the Fit would be twitchy at high speed with such a short wheelbase and quick steering, but it's been an absolute joy on the expressway.

I’ve had this car for 10 years (bought at 6k miles, now at 200k) and the only expensive thing I’ve had to pay for on it is routine maintenance. It’s comfortable, extremely roomy, safe and works well in every weather condition. I’ve driven it on several cross country road trips through the mountains, rain, cold, heat and fog and it has kept me safe and drives perfectly through all of it. I packed it to the gils while moving huge furniture and all my belongings and have been surprised every time at how much it can haul. The size is perfect for parking in small spaces and big cities with limited available parking. This car always fits in those last tiny spots available! My husband jokes at how cocky I am about wedging into tight parallel parking spots in my Honda. Being a massage therapist, I can also pack my massage table, chair and traveling office supplies with me with ease. My 6’3 kid and husband are also comfortable riding as passengers bc of the leg room up front, not so much the back seat. Last but not least, the way the passengers seat area is designed is perfect for my dog to hang his head out the window easily and see everything he wants to.

Bought a 2010 in 2019 from a family members who was going to trade it in for a low trade value of $3000 with 80k. She was happy to sell it to me for that as long as I kept her “pumpkin” running. The ac compressor was aftermarket from 60k not sure why it was replaced from oem but aftermarket bearing squealed so I replaced for the second time. I can go all the recharging of ac system so that didn’t cost too much. All other maintenance has been done by me and is very cheap to do. It’s a basic vtec Honda motor which has no known issues like direct injection motors and the carbon buildup which requires walnut blasting as extra maintenance. Great little 1.5 vtec. Auto trans is easier to service that doing the oil. Very reliable. Very basic feel but gives you confidence in long term reliability. Tpms and airbag light on but not worth the $$$ to fix in my opinion. At 6’3 long trips can be uncomfortable but I try to remember it’s more than 1/2 the $ in gas vs my tundra. Great little in town commuter and love taking it on road trips. Averaging 35 mpg strictly highway trips and low 30’s daily driving it. At 3.50 gallon now I spend maybe $60 a month in gas for it. That nothing these days. The drivetrain is what has given Honda the name and reputation for reliability. In 2015 they went to direct injections and with that comes extra maitenance and issues. I’ve seen these with 300k+. Mine for sure will be taken out earlier than that due to rust I can tell. It’s not bad now but I avenge 7k miles per year and only have 108k now. I know a good thing and these types of cars are far and few these days with all the electronics and turbos systems in cars today finding a cheap reliable car is hard. I will keep this car till I can’t no more. It is a little tank! Since the gas tank is under the front seats all the weight is pretty much forward in the car so winter spin outs are hard. Traction is good with decent tires. The car wants to pull you through and the rear end never wants to spin you around. There’s no weight to the rear. Great space for hauling. It’s boring yes but once you become wise about cars and the money you can waste on fancy options you learn to appreciate the fit for its purpose. Cheap reliable transportation.

Major disadvantage: low to the ground. I think newer models have improved. Small stuff: Fabric on seats catches hairs, etc. and is very hard to vacuum clean. Sun visors are too short. Lousy in snow but then I don't have snow tires. GOOD stuff: great safety scores; very very well designed; intuitive controls. SO easy to park. Tons of storage options inside-very roomy; Back seats fold down and pop up EASILY -- they also lift vertically for deep (top to bottom) storage space. Great to look at, a pleasure to drive. No major issues other than routine maintenance in almost 87,000 miles of driving. I WOULD BUY THIS CAR AGAIN. I live in a snowy area and don't have the power/weight I really need for driving in storms or accumulated/greasy snow but I work around that. Much prefer smaller car over the behemoth options.

New Honda Fit Sport 2010

Just bought a Honda Fit Sport 2010 after months of research. I love my new car, great price, and financing. It is super fun to zip around town in and looks so sporty. Gas mileage on the way home from the purchase was over 35 miles per gallon. I commute a total of 50 miles a day and usually have over 1/4 tank left over at the end of the week. My only complaint is that I have nowhere to rest my elbow while driving. The door arm rest is too low and the little driver side arm rest is too short. It's awkward to find a comfortable driving position. I had to buy my own Honda floor mats as they refused to throw them in on the deal.

I searched around for a long time at different car models before finally purchasing my Fit. I could not be happy. I live in a dense downtown area so I needed a car that was both small but could haul a lot of stuff. This car seriously has more room on the inside when the seats are folded down then some SUVs my friends own. You can tell a lot of thought went into the design of this vehicle. Visibility is outstanding! The ride is comfortable and no it won't win any speed records but if I wanted that I would buy a sports car. Worth every penny.

This is my 2nd Fit, loved them both - I've noticed a considerable improvement in mileage over my 2008 Fit. After 1600 miles I'm averaging 32 mpg in mixed driving and the mpg is still increasing. I attribute part of this to paying some attention to that annoying but useful mpg bar display in the center driver's console. You WILL get better mileage with a Civic or Corolla sedan, but you won't be able to haul washing machines, large dressers, and find other amazing uses as with the Fit. Great for a single like me with no friends with pick-up trucks or SUVs. It's the best compromise between utility and economy in available US cars today, period.

I purchased my fit in Feb. 2011, in the dead of winter here in VT. I used to drive a Chevy Colorado, and thought that I might be making a huge mistake downsizing to a petite FWD scooter, such as this. Boy, was I wrong! I tried to purchase every other make of similar car, and every time I came back to the Fit. In fact, I had a cashier's check in my pocket to purchase a Volvo C-30, and I've never regretted the decision to buy the Fit. Of course, I have never had a problem with the Fit. Acceleration and handling are good. I didn't expect a Ferrari, & I am happy with the Fit's perky attitude.

Bought a fit, took it back less than 48 hrs later w/ a backache. Can't adjust seat cushion up or down because gas tank is under the driver's seat (how can that be safe?). I felt like I was sitting in a high chair in a fish bowl. There is so much untinted Glass it's like you're on display. The cheap black interior showed every speck of dust immediately. The paddle shifter are totally useless and get in the way of resting your hands while you drive. W/ no center console or arm rests (pay extra on sport model only), where is someone supposed to put their arms? The passenger has no options. The tiny visors do nothing shade sun from the gigantic family van style windshield.

We bought my '10 Fit in Dec 2009 and after having it for less than a year I regret this decision. While it does get phenomenal gas mileage (36 mpg avg) it has become very uncomfortable to drive. I bought a flat, memory foam pillow to add comfort for my back but this has only made the neck pain worse because of lack of support. When I don't use the cushion for my back, my neck is pushed forward at an odd and very uncomfortable angle. Another issue I have with the car are the useless sun visors. Why bother! While the car is cheap to own, I do regret buying because now I'm stuck with it :(

Steering is painful on Expressways

I bought my Fit as a commuter car since I drive on expressways 70 miles per day. Had I known how heavily the FIT steers at any speed over 50 mph, I would have bought another vehicle. When driving in any lane that slopes from left to right or right to left, the car needs constant touches on the wheel to keep it in a straight line. At the same time, the wheel feels as if it is stuck in molasses. The car has 2,000 miles on it at this point. I have owned Fords, Dodges, Toyotas, Cadillacs, Lincolns subcompacts, pickups, vans, sedans and Town Cars and have never driven a vehicle that handled so poorly on the expressway. Driving it is a chore and I doubt I will keep it until it is paid off.

Bought this car straight from the boat-with 6 miles. The 6 months were fine but since, it's been a rattling, oil leaking piece of junk. I have had to take it in to have it looked at for rattling once and have to take it back again. At 60 mph, it rattles and whines. The Fit is the cheapest car in the Honda line-up and it shows. It's cheap. I can't wait to be rid of it.

This is a really neat car that does an above average job of being an OKAY car. I purchased my 2010 Sport Auto about 18 months ago and I'm starting to tire of it. Its not that this is a bad car, its not, its just that if you enjoy driving. I would suggest you look elsewhere. It also doesn't really have any frills. This car is never one that you would think is any nicer than a basic car should be. Its not upscale and its not trying to be, but it is very nice the way that it is. In the end I'm left with wanting more.

Hi all, For anyone considering buying a Honda FIT, I must warn you to expect zero support from Honda should anything go wrong. We were driving home from NY City sunday in heavy traffic and the clutch plate disinterated without any warning. I managed to get the car off the highway without blowing the eninge, only to find out that Honda Inc. finds this near death experience perfectly acceptable and dosen't cover the clutch plate under warranty under any circumstances. Saddly this ends a twenty five year habit of buying Hondas and of course we will never buy a Honda again. So, FIT owners consider a trade in at your earliest opportunity. Believe me we are,

For the price of this car, you can't find a better deal. We looked at Mazda 3 and Toyota Yaris when shopping, and the Honda Fit offered more for less, including the priceless reputation of reliability associated with Hondas. I was looking for an economical 4-door hatchback with plenty of room for me and my 3-yr-old, and the Fit fits the bill! Tons of interior space and between 28 and 35 mpg for me so far (no road trips yet). Also, I found the driver seat/positioning to be quite comfortable after simply adjusting the telescopic/tilt steering wheel - this coming from a female with chronic lower back pain.

I was looking for a car with great fuel economy since my job keeps me on the road. The reviews for the 2009 were very good, and research online showed very positive user experiences. I have driven my 2010 about 3500 miles so far and I'm averaging 35-38 MPG per day, with a few trips in the 40-42 MPG range. I am very tall and I have enough leg room and head room, and still could seat adults of average height in the rear seats. The magic seats are handy for the occasional trip with cargo. The engine is snappy when you need it, but I generally just set the cruise and enjoy the ride.

After I bought this car I found numerous customer reviews reporting uncomfortable head restraints and seats. I cannot drive my brand new Honda Fit for more than 15 minutes without feeling pain in the neck and back. Head restraints push too much forward and hurt your neck and it seems to be a problem for many of Honda models for 2009 and later.

This is the most amazing car I have ever seen, I bought it for my son as a University graduation present, and feel very confident that it is a good and safe choice. The car is solid, has "head turning" looks, a cool package overall. We love the space, and it drives like a much larger car, very stable on the road. Great brakes with no fade, great visibility and very comfortable seats, and good leg, and head room. The engine has good pick-up from a stopped position, and has all the vital maintenance points at easy reach and well labeled. "You will not be sorry for getting one of these!"

If I could do it all over again, and I may, I'd probably go for the Sport model. Features like the keyless entry (which I bought afterward and got installed) the USB iPod interface, and the nicer upholstery are things I regret not having. Drivingwise, it is a competent city car with great mileage, the interior is handy and flexible, and it is extremely nimble with light handling and it is easy to park. On the highway, though, be forewarned that the engine is quite weak with the automatic and the engine loud and thrashes under load - but pushing it doesn't make it go any faster. That said, it'll be cheap to own and is reliable. But if you want cheap and reliable AND fun, go for the Sport.

The car is fun to drive. It hugs the road very well. No inside noise at all. The navigation system works great. Only negative comment is that the cup holders by the hand break are in a bad place hard to get the coffee cup in and out. Love the car. Getting 37+ miles a gallon on the highway. Very safe car for my daughter to drive. Lots of room in the back seat for two passengers. You are getting a lot for your money. Buy Honda.

My 2010 Fit Sport has 108,000 miles in it as of 1/12/23. It still runs great. I put leather upholstery in when I bought it, and I feel that adds to the comfort and support of the seats. I get about 24-25 MPG in the city, and 35 or so on the highway. If I drove 55, steadily, I’d get 40 mpg, but that’s hard to do. I love the handling, the magic seats, the visibility and the cargo space. I keep up with all the maintenance as suggested. The only problem I’ve had it the automatic door lock actuators (the electronics that control the locking and unlocking) started to fail recently and had to be replaced, along with the blower motor for the fan (that blows the cold a/c air, or heat, into the cabin.). That cost a whopping $3,900. I spent it because I want to keep this otherwise excellent car for another 7 years, if possible. It might have been a bit less expensive if I’d brought it to a private mechanic. I’m sad they don’t sell the Fit in the US anymore, because I would have kept on buying them for the rest of my life.

Door armrest hurts my elbow. The clutch sinks way deeper than it needs to. Rusted out bracket over battery costs forty dollars, so I made my own out of aluminum L shaped bar stock for around 12 dollars. The car is cute, peppy, agile, and versatile. I keep a giant tote full of gear and a large toolbox (full of tools specifically for my Fit) at all times, roughly a passenger weight and the car drives like a champ. If you want a zippy car don't buy an automatic, they create a rift between driver and car. If you think the fit does not handle well in the snow then you are not a very good driver, be a good driver and you can manage summer tires on snow. My friend got stuck in some snow on a flat city street, the car dug down until the snow turned to ice. My Fit, sat on top of the snow and pulled forward when I engaged 1st gear. It took 10 minutes of rocking her car back and forward to get her free... This car is amazing but not top of the line. Honda is the Sony of cars!!!

I recently bought a Fit but was so disappointed I sold it. The small 1.5 liter engine had to work really hard, downshifting even on moderate grades, to get around. The gearing on the automatic is really tight on the first three gears giving it a jerky off the line start with lots of quick shifts. The car is tall and lightweight. Going around curves at speed like a freeway on-ramp I felt a slight “roll” in the car which made me uncomfortable. The finish inside the car felt cheap. There’s no doubt this is a low end econo-box from Honda. The finish of their Civic and CR-V is much better. It would probably make a good car for a freeway commuter. I’m more of an in-town driver.
