Just what I needed
So far my Element has been a joy to own and drive. Zero mechanical problems ever. Extremely easy to keep clean. A work of art for the amount of room inside compared to its overall size. I like the brakes they work like I think brakes should work. Simply finding my element in a very large parking lot is no problem. There it is over there, the funny looking one. I love it!! It's been one of the best vehicles ever owned.
MY LITTLE BOX
I LOVE THIS "BOX" - EVERYTHING ABOUT IT -- THE ONLY THING I WOULD CHANGE WOULD BE A LARGER GAS TANK SO I WOULDN'T HAVE TO STOP TO GET GAS!! EVERYONE ELSE LOVES THE BOX ALSO, WHEN THEY SEE MINE, THEY WANT ONE!!!
Honda makes smart vehicles
Handles well for a SUV. Gas mileage is among the best for a small 4wd SUV. No reliability problems at all. I'm 6'8" tall and fit well in the vehicle. I would definitely buy this vehicle again.
The BOX
The first full up was city driving and it was 22 mpg. I went on a 400 trip and the mpg was 26. The second car is a Ford 2002 XLT Explorer. The Explorer's ride is smoother, space is larger, but the Honda is quieter, MPG is 7 better, and the handling is much better. The explorer is my wife's car and its replacement will be a Hydrid Escape or a Honda CRV. The Honda is mine and I will probably drive it for about 200,000 miles before I consider replacing it. That is the main difference outside of overall MPG. The honda will last that long with really no major repairs expected, the Ford could but they do not design it too.
Little Big Truck
I just purchased my certified used 2004 EX and I couldn't be more thrilled. I realize I have not had the extensive experience with it some others have had, but simply coming from a very low mileage vehicle (Land Rover) to this, I was ecstatic the first time I had to go to the pump! I think the design is great and the interior is HUGE. Rides great and again, coming from the Land Rover, the wind noise is no worse, even with the less than aerodynamic design. If you are looking for lots of space and functionality, get one of these. It is fun to drive and the stereo on the EX is KILLER! If you are at all like me, the looks will grow on you too.
Best all around car
This car performs better than expected from onlookers. The theater style seating makes the ride enjoyable for everyone and it drives just like a car. Not bad on gas either. At 1.65 about 20 bucks will fill it.
love my element
i've had "my element" for a year and plan on keeping it forever!!!great handling-shifting-comfort!!! able to transport large items (2 lawnmowers- dual burner bbq grill-bicycles-kayaks- and that's inside!)!!!everybody stares and questions ;but they all love the look!!!!i say "buy it and enjoy it!!!" i almost forgot, if you love music you'll love the stereo!!!
Geat Car
I wish I would of owned a Honda sooner. This is a great car/truck. Great looks, and its a Honda. What more do I need to say? Buy one, its worth the money.
Good Vehicle
I've enjoyed the vehicle. and would recommend it to anyone. this is my first Honda and I would buy again. US made does not come close. My other car is US and there is always something going wrong with it. I've got 11,000 on the Honda and only one small A/C vent broke on me.
New Element Owner
The vechile looks a little different but once people get of there that is just the right size for me and had lots of extras that I really enjoy.
I love my element!!!!!
I LOVE MY ELEMENT!!!. i traded in my 2000 Nissan Maxima for a 2004 Honda Element EX AWD MT. I love it. Handles like a car. its really fun to drive. Squeals tires from stop and into second. My parents beg me to let them take it. Seats are very comfy, love the Fiji Blue color. I get a lot of comments on the color even when they dont like the car. Very noticeable wind noise around 55+mph. I am averaging 23 mpg which is awesome. Just think its the size of my friends explorer he gets 17 mpg with the v6... Tons of storage. Love the versatility of the seating, my friends all fit very comfortably. The stock sound system is amazing!!! Better than the bose in my maxima. Best car i have ever owned
Solid, uninspried alternative to SUVs
The looks aren't for everyone, so be prepared to explain yourself. I think the consensus for why people buy the Element is universal, the combination of value, reliability, and versatility. The ride has no sporty intentions, so slow it down around turns. The 160 hp engine feels great, the Element never feels underpowered. Overall I'm very happy with my Element. Here are some improvements that wouldn't fit below: 5) The gas tank holds 15.9 gallons, but the nanny fuel light comes on after using only 12 gallons. Abiding by the fuel light, you'll be filling up after only 300 miles. 6) The recommended load capacity is something like only 680 lbs.
Element Lover!
I am in a wheelchair. I got the Element because the backseats would hang and the back door opened like a van. I could pop my 15 pound wheelchair behind the driver's seat and go.
Buy This Car
I rarely like anything, but this car is the best purchase I've made since my big screen TV. If you are looking for a vechicle that sits 4, can haul like a truck, and has honda-like mechanics, then buy this car; you won't regret it. I absoultely love my 2004 EX 2wd orange car w/ side airbags.
Great Vehicle
We purchased this vehicle about 3 months ago and have taken it on trips non-stop. We were impressed with its ability to be like a truck, you can load and haul pretty much anything in it. Clean up is very easy. Just wipe it clean and you're done. Easy to wash and wax too. Not much to do because the durable plastic exterior part is so easy to wipe down.
No regrets.
Combines the best features of a Honda Civic (reliable, economical to buy and own), a minivan (roomy, flexible interior for people or cargo), and a Jeep Wrangler(4 wheel drive, easy care interior). I originally went in to buy a Pilot, but after driving the Element, I changed my mind. I was initially put off by the exterior styling, but it grew on me. Now I like the fact that it doesn't look like everything else on the road.
Excellent little motor
I have had my E since new, it has never had a single thing go wrong with it. It's a bit noisy and gets a little breathless on the highway, but the mileage is good and the handling is excellent. Incredibly versatile, I have had bicycles, lawnmowers, snowblowers and even a mid-size motorcycle in it. If you want a fun to drive, utilitarian , pickup type vehicle with a good standard of creature comforts this is the vehicle you want. I am still on the original tires . Don't buy the multi player CD player...buy an Ipod instead. I am currently looking to replace it with another E.
Element
If you can get past the styling, which grows on you after a while, the Element is a very functional car that will give you years of trouble free driving. The utility of the vehicle is outstanding. The "suicide doors" and the clamshell rear hatch are great selling points to the vehicle. The plastic floor may be great for some people who have pets, but if you don't I'd suggest the carpeted floor mats that the dealer offers as an accessory. Don't be fooled by the 4 cylinder engine. It has more pickup than a lot of 6 cylinders I've driven. Remember, the Element only seats 4 people so if you have a big family the Element may not be for you.
Nice little car!
I get between 22-25 mpg, plenty of room in back, like the ability to move seats up for more storage, especially since I traded my truck in, it works nicely on the trips to Home Depot.
Great vehicle at a great price
I hate to think that I was a victim of corporate advertising but it happened. Honda marketed the Element for the 21- 30 year old male population, and I bought it hook line ans sinker. Although I have to admit, my Element is by far the most fun to drive and the most versatile vehicle I have ever owned. I gave it a great review because it dserves it. I am looking forward to many years of this sUv (emphasis on the U) giving me ample cargo space, great gas mileage, and lots of fun!
Lovin' it!
My dad has fun with his '04 Element, especially since it stands out with its Fiji Blue color. He mainly uses it to deliver restaurant supplies to his restaurant in LA. I'll occasionally take his car to school once in a while. I can't complain about those handy fold-up rear seats. Although they are a bit heavy, once folded up, you have plenty of cargo room. The floor is so easy to clean off as well - just spray it off with a garden hose. Handling is sharp; sure doesn't feel clumsy on turns. I love this box!
the best car yet
The element get feature is the calm doors make its interior access a pleasure for not only entering and exting but cleaning also. The leg room for driver and front passanger is a little cramped but the head and amr space makes up for it. I bought all option for the vehical espeacially for the extirior, it cost close to an additional seven thousand, but it was worth it. It looks like a different call when you put on the trim. The 2.4 litter engin has plenty of power. I have trailer hitch and plain on useing it this summer, so I can't coment on its towing capiblities, but main taining speed even on steep inclines is no problem. The car is built soiled giving you a safe feeling inside.
Whata fresh suv
After searching forever for a relieable ,fun to drive car..i was introduced to the Element very much by accident..its ugly yes..but boy does it attract attention ..good and bad... I have found many duties for this suv and it has been flawless. This is my first foreign made car.. and i will prolly buy Honda again. I have a 4 year lease on this Element. the only issue is the many scratchs ive seen on what i thought was high quality plastics..inside and out.
Ultimate family vehicle
I just purchased my Element, the funny thing is I always like the car but my husband was the last person that I expect to like this car, but it was actually his decision to get it. He loved the look, however what was the best thing about this car is the space and flooring. We have 2 kids so this car is perfect and those of you who know your children they like to eat and make there food go every where and when they drink they make sure the share with everything else. So this car was something that would be easy to clean up after messes and just overall clean. I am very picky about cleaning my cars and what normally takes me 2 to 3 hours to clean my car it takes me only about 30 min to 1hr
I LOVE IT!!!!
I have owned my Element for only less than a month. I've loved them from the first time I've seen them a year ago. It handles nice, the room is unbelieveable and the drive is better! Perfect for anyone - with kids or no kids! Love the sunroof in the back for my child! He loves it! I am 31 years old and it's perfect for all ages - young and old.
its ok
The only small suv I could fit in. I am 6'5. Good Honda quality, fairly cheap utility vehicle. Can carry lots of tools. Fairly harsh bumpy ride on back roads. Disappointing gas mileage for a 4 cyl. My old audi A6 got about the same 22mpg. I know 5 people that bought one and they are all over 50, so much for the youth appeal. Overall good transportation for New England winter roads. Probably not a family car.
Reliable companion SUV
Own it for 10 months and so far love the way it handles the over all driving. Fun to drive and very practical. The sun visor, when down gets in the way of your driving site. The cup holders would prefer if they were a little higher reach. While driving it can be tricky to reach for the cup, you may need to take your eyes off the road momentarily. Mileage could be better for a 4 cyl. Manufacture claims 27 hgwy, I think 25 more likely. Igot mine loaded with options, under 24,000. For its price and performance I certainly would recommend it highly. The plastic side pannels that alot of readers are concerned about it, so far they holding on pretty good. Do hav
funwagon rocks
5spd AWD is really fun (!) to drive, quicker ( in 0 to 60 mph) than a v8 Chevy Tahoe SUV, nimble as a Civic with anti-lock brakes.
Satisfied Customer
Great, innovative, SUV. Excellent leg room for back seat passengers. Smooth, efficient engine. Traded a Grand Cherokee in for my Element and have no regrets. Quite the contrary.
I simply love the reliability and low maintenance
I love to drive it It's extremely easy to maintain It has very low cost to maintain Brakes are great It's tow-able (behind an RV) and I've towed it quite a bit with not even the slightest issue I don't think I mentioned reliable - it is! EXTREME head clearance easy to add towing package with lights (simply plug in for trailer lights)
Element Rating
Extremely functional. Great all weather vehicle, goes well in snow. Interior is very roomy with excellent headroom. You get the feeling you are in a vehicle twice the size. The fabric and floor wipe clean with just a wet rag or sponge. This is by far the most versital vehicle I have ever owned.
i dont know
It is good on snow days because i can take my children to school right away with no delay. It is very easy to clean on my own iside and on the outside. I like the subwoofer that is sitting inbetween the driver seat and the passanger seat. I know that it picks up good on the acceleration because i am always trying to get out ahead of other cars.It turns very sharp and is easy to get around the corners. It is fun to sit out in the car and watch the stars through the sun roof.
The Black E
I have my Element for about 3 months and I love it. Very roomy, smooth drive, and I feel very protected inside.
Loving my Element!
Let me tell you I LOVE MY ELEMENT! FROM THE FIRST TIME SEEING IT, I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE CAR ESPECIALLY WHEN I SAW IT IN THE ORANGE I WAS SOLD! I TOLD THE DEALER IF HE COULDNT GET ME IT IN THE COLOR I WANTED I WOULD JUST GO TO ANOTHER DEALER! FROM THE FIRST TIME I PICKED IT UP FROM THE DEALER I HAVE BEEN GETTING SO MUCH ATTENTION, FROM BOTH MEN AND WOMAN, ALL RACES COMING UP TO ME AND ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TRUCK! I'VE LET SO MANY PEOPLE INSIDE MY TRUCK THEY COULDNT BELIEVE HOW ROOMY IT IS AND SO AFFORDABLE.
I'm in my Element
This vehicle fits my lifestyle perfectly. With kid, dog, beach, camping, it is functional, easy to keep clean and easy to get in and out of. I didn't want the typical SUV and definately didn't want a mini-van. The Element provides the function without the 'soccer mom' look. I took it to a family reunion shortly after getting my new Element and EVERYONE wanted to get inside of it and take a look. It was a hit!
Common sense on wheels
Great use of interior space. Simple reliable AWD. No-frills fun styling. Good gas mileage.
Great Little SUV
Awesome.....Best Bang For your $$$$$
Bought New and drove it for 18 years
I have been happy with my Element. It has no carpet, easy to clean. back seats come out and has been great for me. Okay on Gas.

The right fit for me
I am 32, and seriously active. This car is great for climbing, camping, mt. biking, snowboarding and my dog. The wife always wants to steel my car because its so fun to drive. I look at other people driving their hum-drum cars and feel for them. This is the car I've been waiting for. The car that isn't a true suv (ie;poor gas mi.), and isn't a butt-ugly minivan. I can take trips to Joshua Tree and sleep in it if the mood strikes.
Too much fun (and funktional too)
I'm finally back in a reliable Honda again after years of not driving one (my mistake). The Element is a total blast to drive; cool, reliable, great for work; I'm always packing stained glass and tools in it to go to client's homes. There's a ton of storage space and the large door panels work wonderfully for my World Glass logo; people really stare at this vehicle. It's a sure bet for all your utility needs! Mmmmm, and it has a sweet sound system! It looks fun and drives outstandingly for an suv. I get about 24 mpg hwy. It gets blown around driving on windy highways!! People turn and look all the time; it's very unique. I love it!
Honda Element Experience (new)
I've only had it a few days, but like it a lot. Got only 18 gallons on first tank, so am still waiting to see what the future brings. Dealer may not have topped it off on delivery. It is fun to drive, responsive. It is easy to park and leaves me much more room in my garage. My wife likes it too. I moved from a 95 Nissan pickup. Road noise is way less in the Element. I don't have to turn the radio up when I get on the freeway.
suggestion
we were driving a eddie bauer expidtion fully loaded needed something to pull behind our motor home. have completely fell in love with this car. my wife has a jaquar, but would rather drive my car.
Not the perfect Mommies Car
I thought the E would be perfect for a newborn baby, it is in the sense that if you spill something it wipes right up. The ease of cleaning is my favorite feature. But I hate the suicide doors. If someone parks close to you, it's a dance to get the carrier in the car and not hit the other car with your doors or trap yourself inside. Not that you should be messing with the baby while your driving but I can't even reach his car seat to pat him on the head when he's upset.
Totally functional
This multi purpose vehicle is another winner from Honda. This is my 4th Honda i've had the pleasure in driving, and as always Honda comes through. For a four cylander vehicle it has suprisingly good power, combine that with the real time drive, and it's 24MPG...Well to say the least this car will please many different people.
Enjoyable Element
Very impressed overall, practical design, comfortable even on long trips, booming cd/stereo, all as viewed by a senior citizen.
Ultimate UTILITY Vehicle
After owning the Element for over a year, I can truly say that this is one of the best vehicles I have ever bought. My one year old, my dog, all of the stuff that comes with a one year old and a dog, and suitcases, etc. fit perfectly. Excellent all wheel drive in the snow. The car also is a blast to get dirty and easy to clean up. Good power from the 4cyl and the automatic matches up well with it. Gas mileage of about 21 in town and 24 on the hwy has been pretty good for an SUV. And, as usual with a Honda, NO PROBLEMS. The car has only been to shop for routine oil changes and tire rotation. Great car, I would recommend it to anyone.
Don't Believe the Hype
No matter what everyone says, don't hose this one out. We did, as indicated on a number of web sites and a $566 repair bill resulted. Honda will not pay for the repair because it was "not a manufacturing defect." The salesman told us we could hose it out, too. Honda is content to get the business from folks who want "easy clean," but when people buy the car because of this feature, they don't stand behind you.
Ugly but love it
I am happy with my Element. Took some time getting use to fine styling :-( (much like an English taxi) But it is so useful, comfortable, cleans up really well, great for hauling stuff and mine is basic beige which really hides the dirt well. I plan to drive it for at least a full 200,000 miles and forgo car payments for sometime.
