Great Room
I'm a big guy, 6'6", 240 lbs, this vehicle has more room in it for me than the F150 supercrew I had. It a kick to drive, gets good gas mileage, and provides plenty of room to haul things. The hardest thing to get use to is everyone looks at it funny and ask lots of questions. I know it was intended for the younger crowd, but this 50's guy sure enjoys it.
Best all around car
This car performs better than expected from onlookers. The theater style seating makes the ride enjoyable for everyone and it drives just like a car. Not bad on gas either. At 1.65 about 20 bucks will fill it.

New Element Owner
The vechile looks a little different but once people get of there that is just the right size for me and had lots of extras that I really enjoy.
Solid, uninspried alternative to SUVs
The looks aren't for everyone, so be prepared to explain yourself. I think the consensus for why people buy the Element is universal, the combination of value, reliability, and versatility. The ride has no sporty intentions, so slow it down around turns. The 160 hp engine feels great, the Element never feels underpowered. Overall I'm very happy with my Element. Here are some improvements that wouldn't fit below: 5) The gas tank holds 15.9 gallons, but the nanny fuel light comes on after using only 12 gallons. Abiding by the fuel light, you'll be filling up after only 300 miles. 6) The recommended load capacity is something like only 680 lbs.
Buy This Car
I rarely like anything, but this car is the best purchase I've made since my big screen TV. If you are looking for a vechicle that sits 4, can haul like a truck, and has honda-like mechanics, then buy this car; you won't regret it. I absoultely love my 2004 EX 2wd orange car w/ side airbags.
No regrets.
Combines the best features of a Honda Civic (reliable, economical to buy and own), a minivan (roomy, flexible interior for people or cargo), and a Jeep Wrangler(4 wheel drive, easy care interior). I originally went in to buy a Pilot, but after driving the Element, I changed my mind. I was initially put off by the exterior styling, but it grew on me. Now I like the fact that it doesn't look like everything else on the road.
Element
If you can get past the styling, which grows on you after a while, the Element is a very functional car that will give you years of trouble free driving. The utility of the vehicle is outstanding. The "suicide doors" and the clamshell rear hatch are great selling points to the vehicle. The plastic floor may be great for some people who have pets, but if you don't I'd suggest the carpeted floor mats that the dealer offers as an accessory. Don't be fooled by the 4 cylinder engine. It has more pickup than a lot of 6 cylinders I've driven. Remember, the Element only seats 4 people so if you have a big family the Element may not be for you.
Great vehicle at a great price
I hate to think that I was a victim of corporate advertising but it happened. Honda marketed the Element for the 21- 30 year old male population, and I bought it hook line ans sinker. Although I have to admit, my Element is by far the most fun to drive and the most versatile vehicle I have ever owned. I gave it a great review because it dserves it. I am looking forward to many years of this sUv (emphasis on the U) giving me ample cargo space, great gas mileage, and lots of fun!
the best car yet
The element get feature is the calm doors make its interior access a pleasure for not only entering and exting but cleaning also. The leg room for driver and front passanger is a little cramped but the head and amr space makes up for it. I bought all option for the vehical espeacially for the extirior, it cost close to an additional seven thousand, but it was worth it. It looks like a different call when you put on the trim. The 2.4 litter engin has plenty of power. I have trailer hitch and plain on useing it this summer, so I can't coment on its towing capiblities, but main taining speed even on steep inclines is no problem. The car is built soiled giving you a safe feeling inside.
Best SUv Utility vehicle on the road
It starts quck, is silent, has 7 speakers and accessible huge cargo space with removable seats, urethane floors for great cleaning. great mileage 3 fills/993 miles. Easy waxing with beautiful paint and protectant is used on outside vinyl and interior. Electric Windows and locks with shading for inside cooling and shade to the outside. I love the higher shift gear on the coloumn and comfort especially with waterproff seats anf floor. Buy One, you won't be sorry.
So ugly it was cool !
Came time to trade in the 94 Accord and being a young active couple we needed something we could really get some use out of.We test drove the automatic and love it! The usability was great and the layout was fun. The only thing we were a little dissapointed with was the power, but we wanted the manual and they didn't have one to test drive at the time. When we did get to drive it,well we signed the papers.Just wanted to thank Vic and all the people at Manchester Honda in CT. that helped us. There's nothing like getting in to your vehicle every day and it makes you smile,by the way ours is green and friends and family have already nickname it SHREK !
Great Element
Really enjoy driving this vehicle, it's fun and funky.
Honda Element
I am a tried and true Honda driver. I had and accord, 2 CRV's, and my Element. You can't beat a Honda. I believe they are the most reliable car on the road. The Element is a great vehicle - Fun to drive and very durable. Tons of room. My fifteen year old son is 6 foot 2 inches tall and still has room to stretch his legs in the back seat and more than enough head room. He also enjoys the sunroof over the back seat. For a small active family this is the vehicle to have. The drive and comfort level outways the CRV.
Element Rating
Extremely functional. Great all weather vehicle, goes well in snow. Interior is very roomy with excellent headroom. You get the feeling you are in a vehicle twice the size. The fabric and floor wipe clean with just a wet rag or sponge. This is by far the most versital vehicle I have ever owned.
The ELEMENT of Form & FUNction
Just bought my ELEMENT and I love it. My first foray into SUV and this one is not only Funky, but Fun to drive and travel in. ThisSUV is NOT like everyone else. This is not the Soccer Mom's SUV! This is the I want to have fun and travel in style SUV and I couldn't be more impressed with it's style comfort and power!
I LOVE MY ELEMENT
This is the best, most reliable and fun vehicle I have ever owned.
Love my Element
I've had a lot of cars and I always get sick of them quick! But I am in love with my Element and when it comes time for me to get a new car it will be a newer version! The back seat is awesome! Very spacious for long road trips and comfortable enough for 3 people without feeling crowded! I love how the back seat can either be folded up or taken out with little to no effort! And the vinyl instead makes muddy shoes and drink spills no big deal! I keep windex and paper towels in the back and when I end up with a mess it's gone quick! The front seat is also very comfortable and has lots of neat features!
Common sense on wheels
Great use of interior space. Simple reliable AWD. No-frills fun styling. Good gas mileage.
simple ergonic Vehicle
the car in cavernous on the interior. Great headroom. handles great in snow. suprising nimble for a car as tall as it is.
My Review of the Element
its a lot of fun in a small car
2004 Honda Element
Drive it...you'll buy it! This is the 1957 VW Beatle made for 2004.
Most fun for under $30k
this is the most versatile vehicle i could have imagined. Whether it's hauling the dogs or laundy or televisions, it's all good. REal smooth transmission. Awesome sound system with the EX. It only seats four but a seat cushion over the cupholders make a 5th passenger possible. The only complaint i have is that I could only afford 1.
Love my E!
I love my Element. The ONLY thing I would change if I could is the gas mileage, which for my automatic transmission averages around 20 mpg in the city. But I wouldn't trade it for anything, and 20 mpg is better than my previous American sedans ever got!
The right fit for me
I am 32, and seriously active. This car is great for climbing, camping, mt. biking, snowboarding and my dog. The wife always wants to steel my car because its so fun to drive. I look at other people driving their hum-drum cars and feel for them. This is the car I've been waiting for. The car that isn't a true suv (ie;poor gas mi.), and isn't a butt-ugly minivan. I can take trips to Joshua Tree and sleep in it if the mood strikes.
I Heart My Honda Element
After test driving all the mid-size SUVs on the market. my husband and I found the Element to have the most comfort (head & leg room), the best pick-up when moving into 4WD, and the best price. The stereo system is awesome and I wouldn't trade it for any other SUV on the market! We love the uniqueness of the outside, too.
SPACE CLOUD
THIS IS A DREAM ITS SACIOUS TURNS HEADS AND KIDS LOVE IT TOO. GET ONE OR AT LEAST RIDE IN ONE U WILL LOVE IT.ITS ECONOMICAL EASY TO KEEP CLEAN WHAT OTHER VEHICLE CAN U THOROOUGHLY CLEAN ABD SHINE IN 20 ITS GREAT.
04 EX - AWD - Love it!
I can only say that this vehicle is very practical and fun. I have only owned it for a few days and find it very pleasant to drive. Get one, you will love it.
Love It
This is a great little SUV for any purpose. It has the versatility of a minivan and the off-road ability and of an SUV all in a package that doesn't look like you're going to use it to take little Jimmy to soccer practice. The audio system on the EX is amazing, I plug my iPod into the MP3 auxilliary jack and it's never sounded better. The Element isn't just for teenagers - if you're looking at SUVs, Minivans, or Pickups, be sure to give the Element a test drive. If in the LA area go to the Keyes Woodland Hills internet department, they got us an amazing deal and didn't mess around (another dealer tried to foist a stick shift on us halfway in the deal).
Great Car
This car is a great fun car that is kid friendly. My wife and I were looking for a new traveling vehicle and we zeroed in on the Element. It is roomy with lots of room for a 6'3" guy like myself and also lots of room in the back for 2 boys and car seats. It has great pick up and the brakes were better than expected. Almost a perfect car for a family of 4.
The Best Ever
This is the best vehicle i have owned. I researched suv's in my price range and what i wanted in a vehicle. i read all the rave reviews on the Element, so i had to go check it out. i took it out on a test drive in the worst weather possible. snowstorm i wouldn't want to venture out in and it was a dream machine. Handled great, so much fun to drive, couldn't have asked for more and to make it even better are the awesome features from the seats in so many positions, easy cleanup, great radio, and just plain fun to drive. the mp3 hookup is great too. I am so happy and couldn't ask for more in a car, except larger gas tank.
Fun and Versatility a Winning Combinatio
I don't fit the marketing target profile for Element owners (63 years old, retired), but this car is the most fun to drive and is the most versatile of any I've ever owned. Three of my friends have purchased Elements after they saw the incredible flexibility in mine. I've had the car four months and have had zero, zip problems with it. I enjoy the curious looks I get while driving it, and I actually think the car is attractive.
GREAT ALL AROUND VEHICLE
FUN TO DRIVE, IT FEELS LIKE A MINI- HUMMER. VERY QUIET ENGINE AND PLENTY OF GO POWER. A VERSATILE SUV WITH PLENTY OF STORAGE AND COFFEE CUP HOLDERS. GET IT DIRY...JUST HOSE THE INSIDE DOWN...WATERPROOF. USES REGULAR UNLEADED GAS.
i love it
i love my e. it handles like a dream in the snow, the first vehicle i've owned that does. the only regret that i have is that i didn't get a 2005
Great Versatile Vehicle
This Suv is perhaps the most thought out and versatile vehicle I have own. The engine is a little weak and excelleration is moderate. Fuel economy is average for Honda, but excellent when compared to other SUVs. The drive takes a while to get used to because of the long space between the driver and A-Pillar, but it drives very nice and responsive. The turning radius of the element is excellent, turns on a dime. Alot more interior room than anything in its class, especially for rear passengers. I do hear alot of road noise, mostly from the wind, because of the square non- aerodynamic shape.
Suits to a TEE
Just want to say that I have never owned a vehicle that I really would like to hang onto forever. I have had other Honda vehicles, but this is my forte. It is very easy to get into and out of, even my handicapped husband can get into the back seat without any problems (I have the running boards). The seats in the back are comfortable and have lots of leg room. I have a car seat for a child, and am glad for the LATCH system. I can do all of my shopping and my friend's shopping without worrying that we don't have enough room. It handles great on the road and is very easy to park, especially in tight spots. I am excited.
So glad I got my Element
I did a lot of homework and finally got my Element in April and it was worth every single test drive, review read and Consumer Report fax. This is one of the most comfortable and fun to drive vehicles I have owned. I am in the car a lot as I do home health and cover a 30-50 mile radius-and working out of this vehicle is a pleasure. Thank you to all the other Element owners who posted their thoughts-they helped me quite a bit in making my decision.
A 41 YR Old Gen Y'er Loves it
Don't beleive all the hype about an Element only being for young kids. If you need the function and space of an SUV but don't want to overspend $$ or overuse gas, the Element is for you. Overall, the review I read was accurate, except I haven't had any problems w/ road/wind noise. It carries an unbeleiveable amount of stuff.
Great Achievement
The experience of owning an Element cannot be overlooked. It is the perfect vehicle for active lifestyles, raising two children, or just going on a road trip. Plenty of room for all. The 4wd model we purchased has been tested here in East Texas. It pulls my bass boat with ease. It handles rough lake roads and is excellent in heavy rains and snow. We have put 11,000 miles on the vehicle in 5 months. The Honda engineers have simply done wonders with the overall design. We tested just about every SUV on the market before we test drove the Element. We haven't looked back ever since. We are contemplating the purchase of another 04 EX as well.
Fun Vehicle
The only problem that I have had with the Element is the wind noise. The unique door configuration lends itself to exterior sounds. The original armrest is pretty useless and you should get the larger functional armrest with compartment. But it is a fun SUV to drive. I'm a big guy and it is extremely comfortable. And for the highway, it has plenty of zip.
Love my Honda Element
I have been driving my Honda Element for 2 months and I love it. The steering is very precise, it's comfortable around town and on the highway, mileage is not quite a good as my Honda Civic was but for a larger vehicle the mileage is still pretty good I am getting about 28 miles to the gallon. I have 2 dogs and the Honda Element is so perfect for traveling with them. I like the unique body style at first I wasn't sure but after I drove it I had to have it.
Element Rules
LOVE my new Element. Always owned Ford in the past, never again. Versitile, stylish, fun, young, and a head turner...the Element has its good points too.
It's A Great Vehicle For The $
Traded in a 2002 Toyota Avalon XLS with a ton of options -- at age 52 I was bored with it. After seeing a few Elements on the road, reviewing consumer comments around the Net I bought one without even test driving the darn thing. I love this vehicle. Many (most) will laugh and snicker at first sight, but after they realize it's a Honda and see the inside, they known then the laugh is on them.
FunE
I've hauled a complete 1930's Antique bedroom set in the back (seats removed), I've hauled 4 English Mastiffs and a Pit mix and still had room for myself and a passenger. I've even pulled someone out of the Snow in PA this past year. Folks paying 2 bucks in gas every fews days around here, I was averaging a full 6 days on 1 tank of gass. I have only experienced the 'Rocking' drivers seat and the crack in the front windshield. This SUV is so much fun and the plastic and seats make for super easy clean up after hauling drooling dogs. :D
THE BEST
What can I say but that it is the best car I've ever had. It has all the features I need for work and daily life . Last week I took out the back seats whent to Lowes loaded it upo with building materilals and was amazed at the room and not to metion the clean up was a damp rag!
a real sports/utility vehicle
This is the most useful a vehicle can be without being a work TRUCK. My biggest concern was road noise and a bumpy ride, and I'm glad to say that although its not Lexus quiet and smooth, its certainly quiet enough to make it our weekend and trip car.
You'll love it!
It's like you're gliding on air.
best of all my 400 owned vehilcles
good milage 25, 4x4, 4 wheel disc, 4whel abs etc---- great car/truck/van
i love it
i love my e. it handles like a dream in the snow, the first vehicle i've owned that does. the only regret that i have is that i didn't get a 2005
Rattle Box
Car started to rattle a day after driving it off the lot. The rattle was on the passenger side in the dashboard area. Took it to the dealer and while trying to fix it they broke the windshield. Put another one in and it was defective also and the rattle went from the passenger side to the driver side. Now, with the third windshield installed it has a completely different intermittent rattle in the dash area. Will try taking it to a different dealer.
element
great sound, power, and handling fun to take apart
