3000 mile review.
So far, so good. The CR-V definitely leads the small SUV class in terms of refinement and build quality. No question there. As noted elsewhere (everywhere?), the low-end power (torque) is lacking on the CR-V; however, once you're at cruising speed the power is adequate for normal, safe, efficient driving maneuvers. The only thing that would have made me second guess the purchase is if I lived in a hilly or mountainous region--those are the times when you can really feel/hear the 4 cylinder working hard to propel the vehicle's substantial weight. Otherwise, the CR-V is a pleasure to drive. It feels nimble, reliable, and inspires a feeling of safety on the road.

I've Never Hated a Car So Much in My Life
Just for reference, the car we had before, a Toyota Scion XB was a dream to own and drive. I've never felt that way about this car, nothing about it offers the sense that it was designed for the owner in mind, but what really makes me hate it is the "anti-theft" alarm. Pull on the door handle "too hard" and the alarm will go off, a piercing shriek that is burned into my memory. The idea that this prevents the car from being stolen was always a stupid idea given that much of the public is used to hearing alarms like this go off, but it is absolutely deafening if you are actually IN the car and your kid accidentally bumps the door. WHO thought this was a good idea? I'll never buy a Honda again. I don't care if they end up making the greatest car in the world, it would take ten lifetimes of owning a great Honda to make up for this POS.

All I asked for
Good enough power, great brakes and steering. Feels light and nimble on its feet. Getting 27-28 mpg with light foot, wife gets 22-24 mpg when she's at the helm. Different driving styles. Feel good about buying a car well into its model cycle where the bugs are worked out.
2010 EXL with Navi
This is the best vehicle I have ever owned. It's comfortable, handles well, has enough power, smooth braking and is fun to drive. Lots of headroom and overall driver space.
