Having been a loyal Toyota Prius customer for over 10 years, I was anxiously awaiting the newly-styled 2016 model. When few Prius models were in stock at the beginning of 2016, I wanted to take a look at other models such as the Honda Civic which I owned 15 years ago. I took a a test ride of the Civic and was really impressed with its features, specially its Honda Sensing ones. I was already aware that I wanted the new Prius to have a strong safety technology package. Upon closer inspection I realized that the Civic actually had more safety features than the Prius. But the deciding factor was that the Touring model was priced about $3000 less than the Prius comparably equipped. With the Civic, the only thing I was missing was the Prius' great MPG rating. But that $3000 savings would buy a lot of gas! On a day in early January I visited 2 Honda dealers just on a scouting mission not planning to buy. But after the second dealer, I pulled the trigger and bought the Touring model that includes so many features found on luxury cars: leather seats, moonroof, safety package, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto just to name a few. Why would I ever go back to the Prius?

I owned this car for about two months. Purchased in January 2016 and had nothing, but issues with it. Purchased it at night (very dark burgundy), will never do that again. Noticed the next day a small curve in the roof, that shouldn't be there. Spent months contacting the dealer, the Honda factory and the American headquarters. Although the dealer visually accepted the deformation existed, they would not replace the car. The wanted to fix it, like a dent wizard type thing. No, not after just spending $21k. Also, the electronic system went haywire while I was driving. Got system failure notices from the ABS, airbag system, brake systems, speed control and one or two others. I even took a photos of the failure notices and sent them to the dealership and a consumer magazine. Then they had a recall of some versions, because of an improperly installed piston ring. The consumer magazine mentioned in the annual report of vehicle reliability that they'd receive some complaints about some build quality issues. The only comfort issue I had was the seat was not padded enough and the seat bottom provided absolutely no thigh support for long drive. Within two months I'd had it with this car, and replaced it with a new Sonata, that has been excellent. Now, I will say this 2016 Honda was a hoot to drive. It is much larger inside than it looks. It handled well and you felt like you were on a skateboard. I just think the initial build quality of some of the first ones off the production line could have been better.

I traded in my 2013 Civic for a new 2016 Civic. I loved my 2013. I do not love my 2016. I have had it for 4 months and already it has had 2 recalls. I hate the technology system, far to complicated to work. In order to turn the radio on you need to click on 3 buttons (Audio, Source, Station). This means you are taking your eyes off the road while driving. The Econ button on the 2013 Civic was right where it should be, on the dash. The 2016 Econ button is located next to the gear shift box and you have to hunt for it. Yes, you can sort of feel for it, but that is a pain and again you are taking yours eyes off the road. When openning the front car door at night the only light that comes in located above in the back seating area, making it difficult to see as you enter the car. The USB and Power port is tucked behind the small tray in the front. A pain to push wires through and connect. My clock is frozen, tells me a different time that the clock on the odometer screen. I have a problem with a noise issue, when you come to a slow stop you can hear your branks making a noise. I brought the car in to the deal for this problem and they cannot fit it, told me the brakes checked out fine and after testing a couple of other 2016 Civics they noticed the same issue on all of them. (Said they would let Honda USA know about this.) All-in-all, I do not like this car and am looking to purchase a different 2016 brand.

Beware the air conditioning problems!

2016 Civic - within 3 months the air conditioner stopped working, it was the compressor that failed to turn on - replaced under warranty but had to wait a WEEK for the part to come in. Within 1st year there was a brake recall. This model has a tiny button brake (not a brake handle but an electronic button you press) and it had to be reprogrammed so that it could be activated after you turned off the car. I hate that little brake button thus the reason of the low marks for that, also the usb port is behind the console on the bottom where you can't see and hard to reach. NOTE: Dealership will give you the canned message that there is ONE part of the air conditioning unit not under warranty, and it's vulnerable to being hit by a rock going through the big grill holes in front of the car and costs $900 to replace. Install your own mesh grill to the front of your car! Dealership also charges $90 for diagnosis test. Read up on the forums about the problems with the air conditioner in the civic model going bad within 1-2 years of purchase, poorly made compressor and condensor part that break down so often they have to be backordered for repair. $500 freon refill. Beware the cost of fixing your air conditioner! I would not have bought this car if I knew about the air conditioning problems already existing in this model. Today 6/12/2019 air conditioner stops working again and have to wait until next week to get appointment to see dealership.

(UPDATE - have had other computer issues where the car would just start beeping and there were no messages or notices of what was wrong. This went on for over a year. Everytime I took it back to the dealership the problem could not be recreated so it also couldn't be fixed. Finally at about 50,000 miles and many trips to the dealership they did a computer software update and it was magically fixed. Just shy of 3 yrs old. It seems to be finally running as it should). Did some google research and it seems to be a common issue yet there is no recall. Warranty is 3 yrs 36000 miles so even though I was within the warranty at 2 yrs 3 months I was over in the miles so the warranty didn't cover the$1500 bill to have this repaired. I have owed well over 40 vehicles in my lifetime and have never had an A/C compressor break much less in such a short amount of time or with such low miles. So disappointed. This was my 1st Honda purchase. Update 06/23/2020 - have had no other major problems and the computer issues have all been resolved finally. Have 66000 miles now and still on the original set of tires. Averaging 45-50 miles per gal. Has turned out to be a great car. Glad I purchased the extended warranty. Car still looks brand new after 4 yrs. Leather is in excellent shape no signs of wear at all. Exterior paint in excellent condition.

Driven the first 1000 miles, time for a review. At first I was apprehensive to getting a Honda Civic, I wanted an Audi (lol). I convinced my fiancee to get the turbo trim, EX-T, and I'm very happy we did so. That adds the heated seats and the bigger engine over the EX, which gives a significant bump in performance. Even with driving in NYC and highways I was averaging 36mpg in a tank (which is the EPA est). I personally don't like the CVT engine.. when you floor it from a red light there's a significant throttle delay, but it's not horrible, it is a Honda and not a Ferrari after all. On a one hour highway trip doing a steady 75mph nearly the entire hour I got 40mpg, pretty amazing! 80mph on the highway feels very comfortable and throwing the car into Sport Mode to pass a car going from 60-90 is like nothing; you don't feel the car struggling at all, unlike my previous car a 2012 Corolla S. But the road noise from the tires/car in the cabin is significant, but it isn't German car obviously, but louder than my Corolla. Still the car is 1000x better, road noise is the only downside. The interior seats are very comfortable, and the dash is informative and clear. Now my biggest gripe is the center screen. Apple Car Play works great, but whenever your phone is connected/plugged in the music defaults to the phone, even if you had it on let's say FM, for example. So you have to click Source each time to switch the audio source which is annoying when you're driving. The screen overall is a bit pain in the ass I wish there were actually just real buttons instead of faux touch ones on the side for home, volume (which is also on the streeing wheel) and etc. Tuning the radio is a pain having to use the touch screen only. The first few hundred miles the screen would wig out and restart/freeze on me but that hasn't happened lately, maybe it was breaking in. The sound system is very crisp, I'm impressed. Overall for the price and quality, it's the best car in it's class in my opinion. There are going to be gripes with any car, but I would highly recommend it. In my opinion, paying for the leather isn't worth it unless you actually want it because you're paying $1,000 more just for that without any additional features. Personally if you're interested in buying the Touring line, you might as well look at an Audi A3. The EX-T is the perfect balance for performance and features at an awesome price.

The one complaint I have is the passenger seat is too low! Feels like the passenger is sitting in a hole. Bought a cushion to help a bit. The Sirius antennae cover on the roof is too large--looks like a shark fin! I do like the car and safety features. Expensive car tho!

I drove an Accord Ex-L for 17 years and a Prelude for 13 before. New Civic EX-L Navi brought me into New technology ..love everything....but the road noise on concrete highways...on asphalts runs like a dream...and around town I am counting my lucky stars. Love my new Civic...oh and did I mention the beautiful Blue color

I love my 2016 Honda Civic LX! It drives great and it has everything I wanted in a car. It gets 41 mpg and I love the way it drives. The only thing I don't like is that the passenger seat is so low and can't be raised. The driver seat has a pump that raises it up and down but the passenger side doesn't.

I've only owned it for a few days, but so far I am very impressed. For me, it was a tossup between the EX and EX-T. I drove both, and to be honest, the turbo model did not give the night-and-day difference I was somewhat expecting. That's not to say acceleration wasn't noticeably improved with the turbo, but I guess based on what I had read, I had assumed this thing would take off like a missile and pin me back in the seat. As it turns out, the boost is more moderate, and I believe is geared more towards giving the ability to have a smaller displacement engine (for better efficiency) while also offering good performance when needed. I first drove the EX-T, then the EX, and then took the EX-T out again to get a better feel (with more realistic expectations) for what the turbo provided. I found that although acceleration of the EX was fine (an improvement over my 2012 Civic), the engine would have to rev higher, giving the impression (real or imagined) that it was straining. The EX-T, on the other hand, answered "no problem" when I hit the pedal, and did indeed accelerate faster. After driving for a few days, I think my favorite thing about the car performance-wise is how it seems to be almost completely unaffected by inclines. My previous Civic, when going up an overpass would slow despite pushing the pedal more. It would eventually, in sort of an exasperated "FINE!" manner, downshift and allow me to get back to my desired speed, but it was always a bit frustrating. The 2016, on the other hand, pretty much just goes. This may be a result of the CVT, turbo, or both. Similarly, when speeding up to pass on the highway, the 2016 is noticeably more responsive. Cabin noise is also lower. The infotainment system works pretty well (from what I understand, there were some major bugs at first, but I'm assuming my vehicle has had the reported fixes applied, as it's been trouble-free). Probably my biggest complaint here is that there doesn't appear to be a way to hide audio sources from the selection list. You can cycle through the available audio inputs... FM, AM, SiriusXM, iPod, Apps, CarPlay, etc., and I know that in my setup, I'm only going to be using FM, AM, and CarPlay... I wish I could hide the others. I love how my iPhone interfaces with the car via CarPlay, displaying the map, music, phone, etc. I never liked Honda's way of handling iPhone audio (via Bluetooth or USB), as it always seemed hard to find the music I was looking for. I also hated how the car, when you got in and the phone was connected, would automatically start playing music, even if nothing had been playing the last time I drove. It was sometimes quite startling (and embarrassing, if I happened to have a passenger) for music to suddenly start blaring from the speakers. While I'm not sure if Honda's system still behaves this way, CarPlay thankfully does not. The lack of a physical volume knob is a minor annoyance. Same with a fan speed knob for the climate control system (fan speed changes need to be made on the touchscreen display, but at least there is a dedicated Climate button to bring up this page instantly). The EX-T has driver/passenger temperature control, which is nice, since my wife and I are at opposite ends of the desired temperature scale, especially in winter. A built-in garage door opener was something I was a little surprised to see was not included. The backup camera and passenger side mirror camera are very handy. Even after just a few days, I'm now worried about having to drive the other cars in our family that don't have the side camera. I do wish, of course, that they had included a driver-side camera as well. I paid $20,700+TTL, which included the trunk tray, mud guards, and floor mats that most dealers seem to package with these cars. I'd seen a few people who paid $19.5K, but it was an grueling task to get this one for $20.7K, and the TrueCar estimate (FWIW) was about $1000 more, so I feel ok about my price. I also got 0% financing. Though this is a dealer-specific issue and perhaps not relevant to a review on the car itself, I'll mention anyway I was disappointed to discover when I got home that the dealer name front plate thing had been SCREWED IN to the front bumper, leaving two small (but sloppy) holes when I removed it (our state only issues rear plates). I'll probably add a decorative plate to hide this, but my preference would have been to just have a plain (but unmarred) bumper. Poor judgment on the part of the dealer. In summary, my overall impression of the car is very favorable. It's comfortable, performs well, and looks nice. For me, as a guy in his mid-forties, it's a perfect balance of a reasonably sporty car that is very fun to drive, while also being somewhat understated in appearance (though certainly more aggressive looking than the prior Civic sedan), so it does not scream "mid-life crisis SPORTS CAR!". I can see how it would appeal to younger drivers as well though.

Wasn't really shopping Honda and it was second to last on my list beating only Toyota (never). I shopped the coupe first. Seats could really use lower lumbar support! I purchased the sedan because it looked sporty enough and my kids fit in the back. I got a great deal and the price was right. Performance? Hate CVT transmission. Just a BAD idea! There is a noticeable turbo lag if you need to jump into or cut across traffic in a hurry. Steering is a bit flat because you don't get a true feel of the car in turns. Safety is something I luckily have not had to test. I do feel like there is a bit of a blind spot in the drivers side mirror but this might be because I am used to driving full size pickups. Tech is okay. Everything is run from the center console "Head Unit" which SUCKS! Hopelessly broken touch screen issues which are a MAJOR PROBLEM because almost everything is run through the touch screen. Known issue with the 2016 for which Honda has no fix. I don't know how many times they can replace the screen only to have it fail again. Complete rubbish!. Value: I am getting 32mpg in mixed driving and hoping for better. Warranty is the weakest point because 3/36 is not anything to brag about in a world of 6/60 and 10/100. ADDED 1/27/18 Vehicle is made of a very, very, thin light-weight material. I have 2 impact points on my front hood from objects on the road that have been kicked up at the car. I have NEVER had this happen before. As it gets older and I am more familiar with the vehicle I would say STAY AWAY FROM 2016! Update 8/3/21 - Vehicle is very low but Honda has done an excellent job at protecting the undercarriage and all week points.

Half-assed features with room for improvement

When I first got this car, I was single and did not know much about cars, so I just kept the same lease terms and got a newer model car. I am ending my 3-year lease on this vehicle (which replaces a 2013 Civic EX-L lease) and thought it was a good time to write a review. All in all, it drives/handles well and I am glad I did not buy this vehicle as there are too many half-assed things about it. Now I have a greater interest in cars and will be making a more educated decision when shopping for another vehicle and will be test driving before committing. Plus I am married now and have a baby, and so we want something bigger; perhaps a 2014 CR-V or 2016 RAV-4, base trim levels. And now without further ado, here are the advantages and disadvantages... Pros: - drives/handles well - excellent gas mileage (37-42 mpg on highway, ~27 in the city) - looks sleak (got it in Ceramic Blue) - comfortable front seat for a 5'9" 175-lb guy and back seats for a petite wife and car seat - longer/roomier than previous models - eligible to be an Uber vehicle (starting with 2014 models) if you are into that - remote start is good for hot and cold days - keyless entry on both front doors, trunk - with push-to-start (and keyless entry) you don't have to touch your keys - fuel door can be opened from outside and not having to fiddle with a gas cap saves you 10 seconds - right-side blind spot camera can be useful at times, but may take some time to get used to - gauge cluster is sleak; can indicate oil life - 3-intensity heated front seats - dual climate controls Cons: - volume slider instead of knob (if it ain't broke, don't fix it!) - Android interface in infotainment system is comparable to a cheap Android tablet - slow and disorganized - volume slider on steering wheel sometimes either mutes/blares audio if my thumb accidentally touches it when turning the wheel; had to disable the touch gesture and use the buttons - climate controls behind a menu; at first I thought it was cool, but the button response is slow, especially on a cold start; it could take about 10 seconds for it to load - Econ mode button location is stupid; it is a driver control and should be next to the wheel as it was in previous models; not next to the shifter where the passenger can [accidentally] press it - no AUX port - no CD player/slot; I wanted to use my CD mount for the phone, but could not - entire center console is just awkward and attracts dust - no keyless entry on rear doors; every time I had to mount my child's car seat, I would have to press the UNLOCK button on my key fob - both fob batteries had to be replaced within 2.5 years - no easily accessible USB ports for back seats - no rear AC vents - no rear seat heaters - rear-view camera can get blurry when raining; wipe it before entering your vehicle when it is raining! - I felt slight vibrations when gear is engaged and brake is depressed (well-known issue in recent turbo-charged Honda vehicles) - wipers were squeaky from the very beginning; I replaced both for $10 with wipers from Costco and they were silent afterwards - for some reason, the computer module, O2 sensor, and battery, needed to be replaced; luckily they were all under warranty - turbo-charged engines require more maintenance than naturally aspirated ones - I did not mind the CVT that much, but the several-hundred-millisecond throttle response may be a turn-off for some

Poor infotainment and cheap paint

The infotainment touchscreen goes awry sometimes and you can't use the heat/ AC controls, backup camera, side camera, Nav, music, etc. The sound from the radio doesn't come on very often but I've managed to figured it out by opening the Nav and imputing a destination and then the sound of music comes on, unless it's one of those times that it is completely messed up that not even shutting the car off will make the infotainment turn off , so I just have to hope it doesnt eat my battery power away. Also I have the pearl white color with rust spots and specks all over. I unplugged the factory subwoofer beacuse it makes a rattle. The only thing the dealer was able to fix was my automatic windshield wipers. At least I get good highway mileage.

Owned several Hondas my whole life and has always been my #1 car brand. Not any more. Should have bought a Toyota. A/C Compressor failure and they want near $2,000 to fix it. Rack and pinion/steering issues. Very disappointed.. Stay away. ( tears running down my cheeks)

Bought a brand new 2016 Honda Civic Touring on 12/15/16. Since they day I have had nothing but issues with this car. Out of the past 80+ days, my car has been in the shop 50 of those days. My bluetooth does not work, my infotainment screen goes in and out, the emergency breaking goes off randomly, etc. I have 29 issues all together with my new car. The first 2 Honda dealerships told me they have seen these issues before and did not want to get wrapped up in legal issues so they would not try and repair my car. Honda corporate will not even talk to me about taking my car back and have been completely disrespectful. Honda truly is NOT the company they used to be and I WILL NEVER buy another Honda again. Don't just take my word for it, DO YOUR RESEARCH! You will find thousands of other Civic owners with similar issues.

On paper the 2016 Civic Touring checks all the boxes of any car shopper. Stylish, roomy, powerful, efficient, loaded with technology and safety features. In reality the Civic is less a bargain than it was in the past. My biggest gripes about the car are things that Honda could have easily remedied but chose not to, probably to save on costs. The largest three are the excruciatingly uncomfortable seats, the slow and cumbersome infotainment system and the “safety” features that actually make the car less safe. Top this off with sub-par build quality, leaves the Civic severely lacking. The seats are the largest issue, while having just enough padding (though firm) and good lateral and vertical bolsters they lack adjustable lumbar support, even in the top of the line Touring model. The fixed lumbar support is in the complete wrong position for my back and pushes out too far, leaving me constantly shifting positions to try and have my back hurt less. Even after short drives I’m often left with back pain. The lackluster Android based infotainment system. While a great idea in theory, the SoC that Honda decided to use with this system seems to be on par with with a cheap no-name-brand tablet than a decent smartphone. It’s completely overmatched for what it has to handle, between controlling both the gauge cluster and the infotainment screen it lags, often taking 5-10 or more seconds to bring up a new screen or switch to backup camera or lane view mode. Along with this Bluetooth connectivity is unreliable at best, call audio is often garbled and phones will randomly disconnect in the middle of audio streaming and calls. The system would also crash constantly until an update was applied in early 2017. I would hope that possible future updates could help remedy some of the issues, but I don’t count on it. The third largest glaring flaw is how Honda implemented the Honda Sense safety features, the Edmund’s editor called them sensitive, to the point of annoyance. I personally think they go beyond that and actually make the car less safe. The radar cruise control often drops too much speed when sensing a car in front of it, sometimes to the point of applying the brakes heavily when there is no need to, then yo-yos back up to speed again. There is no ‘follow’ function as in other systems, and no way to override the radar and control the cruise manually. The lane keeping and departure systems are downright dangerous if not payed attention to closely, it has an especially hard time with left exits on the freeway and will attempt to steer the car into the median if not corrected immediately. The cherry on top of all these flaws is the complete lack of build quality, everything in my Civic rattles. Several points in the dash, the passenger door, the sunroof, something behind the rear seat. The dealerships have been helpful to a point, but I don’t have much faith in having them find and repair all of them. The original set of center vents in my particular Civic would lose their positioning whenever the car heated up on the inside, leave it in a parking lot on a hot day and when you return the vents would be pointed at the roof. This was eventually address, but took several trips to the dealer to resolve. Overall, I would not recommend the 2016, or 2017 Civic until Honda does some serious updating to the car. There are lots of choices for small cars out there, and most of them are better than the Civic. Pros: - Modern styling - Powerful and efficient 1.5 ltr engine - Very Spacious interior and trunk - lots of technology crammed in Cons: - Extremely uncomfortable seats - No lumbar adjustment, at all - Laggy, and buggy infotainment system - Safety features that are anything but safe - Very poor build quality

Moving from a Prius, the new Civic has impressed me on several counts. I've owned the Civic for 3 weeks and this is what I can say. The ride is much smoother and the infotainment is comprehensive for a car in this class. The turbo engine's got a pep to it and accelerates nicely where the Prius toiled (with both cars in Eco mode). No comparison however wrt gas mileage: with Prius I consistently achieved 44-52 mpg, the Civic gives 28-35 mpg (from dash indicators). Lanewatch can be distracting (might get used to it eventually) and not very useful at night. Honda Sensing is a bit of a hit or miss: in traffic, ACC stops the car aggressively (hard braking where easing up on the accelerator would do) and resumes slowly, taking a while to catch up to the car in front so I always use the accelerator pedal. LKAS requires clear road markings or it turns off. The LKAS self-steering on the freeway is not always reliable and can understeer you off your lane, so be careful ! Maybe Honda will upgrade the Sensing sofware to deal with the above issues whence the extra cost would be justified. But as a car, it is quite fun to drive and comfortable, that was lacking in previous Honda Civics I've owned or driven.

My heart aches writing a bad review on a Honda, because this is my 6th Honda. I just hit 40k miles (aug 2019). I’m about to have my AC compressor replaced for the THIRD time. I also just had my battery replaced for the THIRD time last week. The extra bells and whistles are ok on paper, but lane watch and car sensing has glitches. Side view camera is good during the day. Don’t even attempt to trust it at nighttime. Brand new the interior looked too good to be true. Light wear and tear shows quickly! Cheap parts that don’t last. This car has been a headache sadly... The only “touring” option this car delivered is me touring multiple Honda service departments. I’ve also attempted to fix the rattle from the speakers, Through dealership and myself without any luck. The speakers could be good, but the rattle truly stands out more. 2021 update: my AC is going out again

Honda failed to make enough replacements for the 2016 Civic windshield which dealer and glass companies tell me could take up to six months to manufacture and replace . UNACCEPTABLE HONDA! Car was purchased with summer road trips in mind which are not now possible. No known rock or debris impact -windshield just cracked one day and huge cracks continue to spread into driver field of vision making this a SAFETY ISSUE . Very disapointed! Car was not inexpensive . HONDAs lack of foresight in manufacturing replacement parts is disturbing AND shows lack of concern for product reliability or consumer safety . A/C FAILED JUST AFTER 36k warrantee ran out-paid for new air compressor -still didn’t work -three days of trouble shooting found a sticking pressure valve replaced -now FINALLY A/C WORKS THANKFULLY @ 98 degrees.

I took delivery of my Cosmic Blue '16 Civic EX-T Sedan about a week ago, and I'm in love. Before settling on the Civic, I researched and test drove exhaustively just about every comparable and non-comparable car on the market. I finally narrowed my search down to the Hyundai Elantra, the Chevy Cruze, and the VW Jetta. The Civic won, hands down. This car outpaces its competitors by a long shot. Acceleration is strong from the 1.5 Turbo, yet I've been averaging about 40 mpg in mixed driving. The interior is quiet and comfortable, and the technology is top notch. Handling capability is a class above as well. Civic feels solid and composed where the Elantra felt jittery and loose. Be sure to negotiate for this vehicle. I was able to land this one at around $19,500 for everything before taxes. At that price, it is an incredible value.

I am truly amazed at the improvements over the last generation! This car swayed me from an Audi A3. It is classy, refined, agile and quiet. I chose the LX because it has all the features i need without alot of fluff. It has loads of technology, even in the base model. I love how it handles and the Sport mode gives the engine a nice growl! There are discounts on this hot coupe, so haggle when you purchase! The only changes might be adding sport paddle shifters ( a little inconvenient shifting from sport to drive mode) and making mud flaps standard to keep my beauty clean! (I am adding them myself, as I bought them with the car and did not want to pay for installation. ) After 18 months of ownership, I still love this car! I recently tested the hatchback, which was released after my purchase. I think the coupe is better, unless cargo space is a top concern... After 48 months, still love the Civic! A/C condenser went out, and was replaced free by Honda and warranty on system bumped up to 10 years. I still would like the hatchback, and will probably get one when I am ready to let go of this jewel... Sold the car in September 2020 because used car values skyrocketed and i had another car to drive.

Having a problem with my with the Bluetooth in my brand new Civic EX which hopefully will be fixed next week. The really terrible thing with this car is the front passenger seat. The thing is practically on the floor is uncomfortable as a result so please try it before you buy it. Other than the seat thing this car is amazing!!!!!!!!

The car impressed right at the first sight - the design, stance and appeal. Being a Honda fan, no other make was even considered. And this car was eons ahead in the mentioned areas. Test drive confirmed my feelings. The trim had to be scaled down from Touring to EX-T due to financial constraints and prudence of not willing to pay $6K for features which would not be used as frequently. Features liked: 1. Keyless Entry & Ignition - This feature would help a lot in the cold months when the car could be started and heated prior to entry 2. Dashboard - Very comprehensive and intuitive 3. Engine - Smooth & Responsive 4. Design & Looks - Very upscale 5. Brake hold - Lets relax on longer waits at signals 6. Parking Brake - Awesome. No more pulling up the hand brake / trying to locate the pedal 7. Driver's Seat - Low seating like in a sports car. Loved it Few of the annoying stuff: 1. Road noise still enters the cabin 2. Climate control does take time to get used to, and the fan noise is so much that the music / call volumes have be cranked up several notches. This is a very big climb down compared to the old Civic 3. Entertainment system again takes time to get used to. It is here that the dealership could spend a few additional minutes educating the buyer 4. Last but not the least, connectivity with Android Auto is a pain. The screen goes blank every now and then. While using AA for navigation and screen going blank, the risk can only be imagined. Ditto is the case when music is streamed. One trip of 2 hours facing the issue, this feature is no longer used Now, coming to the dealership - Honda of Chantilly: Sales Person - Christian B. Very helpful and exuded warmth. Provided right amount of advise to arrive at a quick decision. Appreciate his support through the purchase Sales Supervisor (Christian's boss) - Antimo. Again, very understanding and helpful. Very courteous and patient. Would like to deal with him again. Keep it up, both of you! While the sales persons were awesome guys, complete contrast was the Business Manager - too snobbish. The less said the better. Would follow up with this review once the initial run period is completed, and service is "experienced" :-)

Loved it when I first got it, brand new 2016 model, loaded but just turned 5,000 miles and have had parking brake issues, dangerous ones with recall out for it. Then today LCD display screen started flickering non-stop cannot use it AT all. Have to go in and have fixed, check Internet many people with these same ongoing issues. Car to low to ground as well, Bluetooth works only randomly, and media as well as navigator only work randomly too. SO disappointing! Choose another vehicle, this is my first Honda was so excited as the ratings were so good, but definitely has issues!

I bought it in April 2016. Only 1 to 2 of this model per dealer since the Coupd is so new. I shop around for s nice, tech, fairly economic car... I am 20 yrs old... I had a used car prior to buying this one. I am still in college, live with parents, work part time.... I really love and enjoy my car a lot. Highly recommended.

My new Civic Touring is a great car with a lot to love and a few issues. The car handles beautifully, is very comfortable, a great ride and incredible fuel economy for a car that has decent power. The car also looks great. The issues: the audio system while it sounds great, is clunky to work with. The Honda sense features, such as adaptive cruise control and lane watch, are impressive and they do work, but the features need refinement. In particular, the automatic breaking during cruise control can be too abrupt and someone following too close behind is liable to rear end you in some situations. I accept the fact that some of the new technology needs refinement and since it's all in the software it would be nice if Honda provided updates as they inevitably make improvements, but they probably won't (unlike Tesla). It's a woderful car so far and I have no reason to believe it won't be as amazingly reliable as my last Civic.

Wait, and I say wait because I am experiencing audio issues. Hence this being a new car, I figured issues would be popping up. The center console's bluetooth system fades in and out and the Apple Carplay system does the same. Some days it will connect to my phone and some days it works for a few minutes and says "no device connected." Aside from the audio issues, car is great on gas and is understandably one of the top ranked vehicles in its class after looking into the Mazda 3 and Toyota Corolla. EDITS: After have driven the car for 4,000 miles now, the center console still has its issues here and there. Do I suggest waiting still? That is completely up to you, and comparing other cars on the market, the Civic is on the higher end. If you are still on the market, the Civic LX, base model, has most bells and whistles most cars on the market have. Granted, the turbo in the CVT gives the Civic that extra push that most of the other cars DON'T have. Consider the Mazda 3 and Toyota Corolla both of which have less HP and both are CVT's.

I am so happy with this car, I've had a Civic before and I will keep buying this car probably forever. It is so comfortable, great looking, great quality built, great performance and keeps its value far more than the rest of the brands. The new Civic comes with so many cool and modern features that you don't feel the need for a 'better' or more luxury car. I'm adding up to this review, now that I've had the Civic for over a year, that sometimes the screen freezes and goes black and does not respond to touch. This has happened to me like once every month, and it hasn't been a big deal but it can be very frustrating sometimes, just FYI. I still would not change my car for anything.

The 2016 Civic absolutely blows away all of the competition. It is an absolutely beautiful vehicle. My son leased an EX and it has exceeded all his expectations. He really wanted the EX-T (turbo) but the EX fitted his budget. The design and quality, both inside and out is a huge advancement over the previous model, and is far superior than anything else in the price range. Performance is OK from the new 2.0 liter, but obviously not as peppy as the turbo. I'm a hard one to please because I drive a 2016 Maxima, and am used to having a powerful engine. The Civic is very smooth and quiet, sporty but luxurious. The only problem my son has encountered is that the Bluetooth won't maintain a connection with his Android. It pairs and works fine with my iPhone. The Civic looks and drives like a much more expensive vehicle. Honda outdid itself with the new Civic. It is in a class of its own. Funny thing, when we park the Civic next to the Maxima, they look like they are models from the same manufacturer.

After 1-2 years problems with AC not working. Honda mechanics say condenser is damaged in several places and coolant leaked. They blamed rocks kicking up....I drive it to work on the highway. $1100 repair. Not covered by warranty. I have owned 3 new Hondas over the last 15 years but after this experience I wouldn't buy another one. The car may look good but it is flimsy

Much better driving experience then previous generation civic. Car was totaled from a front impact involving a drunk driver. Airbags deployed and I’m okay. Very safe car ! Would have bought another one but couldn’t beat the lease special on the new Camry

CVT Transmission failed within year 1 of ownership. Dealership service wasn't prepared to do the repair and spend days talking to Honda Tech Support. Collectively spent near a month with a loaner. Service department sent me home without completing routine maintenance twice stating the car didn't need to be serviced even though the service warnings were present. Overall this is an experience I hope to lay to rest very soon. Hopefully this dump car with hold it's value when I'm trying to trade it in.

I've had my Rally Red EX Trubo sedan for a little over three months. We just took it on a 2500 mile trip across several states. As a result, I have to write something in praise of this car. I've owned Civics in the past, and this car is nothing like them. It is much roomier. It is quieter. It is smoother. It is more comfortable. It is much quicker. And the economy is incredible. I specifically wanted the turbo as in the past Honda has tried to compensate for under-powered cars by using the transmission to downshift. But now, the turbo kicks in when you need it. I set the cruise for 75 mph and we pulled long steep mountain passes (6%+ grade) without breaking a sweat (didn't have to turn off the air conditioner, didn't have to downshift, just a slight increase in rpms). All the while averaging over 45 mpg for the entire 2500 miles (one tank was 49 mpg - but we had a tailwind). The climate control was flawless keeping us completely comfortable at high mountain altitudes down to high temperature plains. The only word I can use to describe this trip in this car is AMAZING!! And I don't write many reviews of anything, but I thought people ought to know that Honda has knocked it completely out of the park with this car. I've driven other competitors to this car as rental cars, and while I have enjoyed them and found them very nice (GM, Ford, Nissan), this little Honda is the total package. The only place they missed was badging it as a turbo, and putting chrome tips on the dual exhaust out the bumper in the back. I have always been impressed by the reliability of the Honda's I have owned and I expect no less from this beauty. You can buy or lease this car with total confidence and you are going to have a great ride with outstanding economy at a very attractive price. Don't hesitate! One year and 10 000 mile later and still enjoying this car immensely. I wouldn't change a word of my earlier review. Love this little speedster.

I've had my 2016 civic EX-T for about 2 months now and haven't had a single regret about my purchase! I traded in a 2014 accord coupe that I never could make myself like. The new civic is so good! It's comfortable, quiet, roomy, and has plenty of power. It just hit 4,000 miles and I love it more every time I get in it. The cvt transmission is great, my accord had it so I was already use to it when I bought this car. I will never go back to a traditional automatic because the cvt is just sooo smooth. My mom has a 2017 accord v6 with the 6-speed auto and every time I drive it I think something is wrong with it because it's always shifting! You get so much bang for your buck with the civic. Push button start, rear and side cameras, automatic lights, large LCD screen for the tach/speedometer with many different settings, LED running lights, LED tail lights and tag lights, remote start, etc. It drives like a much more expensive car and handles the road so well. I love this car and I see myself keeping it for many years to come!

Drove from Las Vegas to Lake Tahoe (450 miles one-way, mostly two lane highway) and got just over 45 MPG each way driving in Economy mode mostly at 72 MPH. When I needed to pass trucks, campers, etc. I'd just switch the Econ mode off, make my pass utilizing the oomph of the turbo, and then put the Econ mode back on. Front seats are low but very comfortable. Trunk is cave-like. It took Honda forever to have auto -on headlights - they still lag behind with no universal garage door opener.

i've owned the car now for over eight months and have had problems with the touch screen twice and have had to have the radio tuner replaced completely. I've been locked out of my car on two occasions cause the keyless entry becomes an operative. Honda has some serious changes to make in the civic before it is a solid car again.

The passenger side camera is a very nice option ! The brake hold is also nice but be advised that it will not work without having your seatbelt on. Acceleration is awesome for a 4 cylinder 4 door car. After 4 tanks of fuel mostly on short trips was avg 35 mpg and one semi long trip of 125 miles on the interstate avg 41.8 mpg. Over all we are very pleased with our purchase. We paid 25k before taxes and tags.

Picked it up for around 20,500.. absolutely amazing car. It's my first Honda, but not my last.. coming from a Jeep Grand Cherokee, my gas mileage is twice as much per gallon. 42 mpg on the highway with a turbo engine.. I should have always owned Honda's.. civic ex-t definitely turns heads.. love it love it love it

I purchased this car a few months ago. Super smooth, great performance, and great design. Purchased the car brand new. AC did not work since day one. Honda tried to repair this issue three times without luck. The lane assist camera goes off every once in a while. Tire pressure sensor needs calibration often. The car is considered a lemon, but Honda ignores my calls. I have left voicemail's to various managers without any luck. No call backs, no resolution. I purchased this car to avoid the hassle of repairs, maintenance, etc, but this car has been faulty since day one.

This is my first Honda in 10 years after having them for many years before. Had them all from Accords, Civics, and even a 4-wheel steering Prelude...(sweet). This is definitely the Honda of old. Great driving, great gas mileage, and just plain fun to take a long road trip in. The Touring model has great tech for a car of its price. My only issue is with the subwoofer. It did rattle, but doesn't take much to realize you need to have sound proof the brake light in back window better. That is where the rattle come from. 5 minutes and $2 later....no rattle. The touchscreen can be slow to respond and go into stupid mode but seriously its a computer....reboot it and its fine. You have won me back Honda....congrats on a great little car.

Owned this base model civic (4D LX trim) second hand for a month now, put about 1100 miles on it, totaling ~17500 miles. The base model has power adjusted mirrors(manual fold), auto up/down front windows, regular power rear windows, brake hold, 'eco mode' button, electronic parking brake, rear defroster, standard backup camera with 3 view angles, manually adjusted front seats, manual tilt/telescoping steering wheel, cloth seats, fold down entire rear seat row. It's a lot quieter, feels more stable and also slightly bigger than the previous generations of civics. It honestly feels like a previous generation accord. It does have a CVT that performs pretty good and unfortunately mimics an automatic transmission when accelerating hard, since people don't know that CVT's perform better at the best rev range. It drives well at speed and you won't notice yourself going fast, it feels fast and smooth for such a small engine. Some dislikes: There is no lockable trunk or glove box like some of the previous generation civics. There is no locking compartment at all so don't keep anything remotely of value in your car not that you should anyway. In my area car break ins are relatively common and you would want a basic level of security. In the LX Model the rear seats can fold down for extra storage but you'd have to fold all 3 seats down at once, no split of any kind. Also constrained to the LX model there is no flip down rear cupholder or arm rest. Overall it's just a nice looking civic economy car with improvements to gas mileage, sound deadening and stability driving. Don't expect too much, especially with the LX trim and it's pretty fair & solid for what you get.

Some of the reviewers here think they should be getting Lexus quality in this car, but that's not going to happen. I owned a 2009 Civic Sedan and a 2013 Elantra sedan before buying this one so I am able to compare pretty well. First and foremost for me is the cabin noise because that's where they really got better over the other two, with the 2009 Civic being really noisy and this one very quiet for a small car. Ride is second because this is much smoother than either. Cabin noise, ride and handling make this car feel like it should be much more expensive, and this handles like a dream for the price. I was really wow'd when I first got behind the wheel and it is a pleasure to drive. The seats could be better & more comfortable but overall the quality of the interior is much nicer than the other two. What I think is that this car is a really good value and I am quite happy with it so far. ****Update: I've now owned the car for 7 months and took one long trip in it and my feelings for the car have only gotten better. Driving the car for 3 hours was a pleasure and going 80 in it feels like you are driving 50 and it passes quite well for a 4 cylinder.

I love this car so far at 1300 miles its averaging 33 mpg. The technology is superb!!! Features galore!!! With Apple Icar, driving assists, booming 10 speaker stereo, this car rocks. Got black on black with tinted windows. Prior 2 cars were Acura TSX 2008, and Acura TLX 2015 and this car has rivals the Acura models. The Acura TLX was totaled and this is my 10,000 cheaper replacement and I couldn't be happier. I get compliments on the how sharp the car looks. It's a head turner!! Two cons I drive a lot and the wish the gas tank were bigger and I Iong for driver seat 2 passenger power seat memory.

I've put 1400 miles on my EX-T in 2.5 weeks of ownership and have pretty thoroughly shaken it down. This is my first CVT car; I was expecting a slightly more refined version of the terrible Altima transmission, but instead, I'm very impressed. It's unobtrusive, responsive and smooth. The 1.5L turbo isn't nearly as laggy as everyone claims, and considering it's Honda's first attempt at a turbo, it does a fantastic job. My first tank scored a 50/50 (45 mph average speed) combined economy of 37 mpg while still being a blast to drive. The steering is slightly heavy (it's a Honda, this is how they roll) but precise; it does seem to fall toward the down slope of the road crown a little more than it should, which I believe is caused by the frankly low-end Firestones. The brakes are solid and ABS works perfectly. The seats are very firm and supportive, but the extremely tight weave of the fabric means they tend to heat up quickly; the automagic AC takes care of that problem. I've had back-seat passengers bonk their heads on the very low, sloping entrance, which is just a limitation of the fastback design. The Display Audio system is buggy, probably because it's simply a tablet based on Android KitKat; however, the GM MyLink in my previous two cars was just as bad. The controls and instrumentation are very clear and logical; the windows and moonroof seal impeccably; the build quality is phenomenal (more than once I've heard "This is a *Civic?!*") and it just flat looks badass. tl;dr: Honda knocked it out of the park with the 10th Gen Civic.

I have 25 miles on my 2016 Civic Touring, I have just realized when I got home that the subwoofer rattles like it's 20 years old. I have had this car for two hours! Please turn your volume up while sitting in the car and or test driving it, as soon as you drive it off and then realize you have an issue with the sound system you will not be able to think of anything else but how irritating the subwoofer is. It will definitely send you back to reality, the reality being your car is not an Acura or a high end luxury car and that they did use smoke and mirrors to get you to purchase their new model. When you purchase a brand new car you don't expect to have any problems right out the gate, the fact is you shouldn't have a single issue with a new car whatsoever. The sound on this car is insulting, you pay extra for a premium sound system and you get rattling, really give me a break. I shouldn't have to take it back the very next day after I spent five hours in a dealership acquiring this vehicle.

I own a brand new 2016 Civic Touring Sedan: problems with its navigation system started the very next day. It either cannot 'find' the satellites or it shows your location completely wrong, on another street or in a forest or in a lake! Took it back to he selling dealership twice: first time for a week to have the navigation 'head' replaced - no improvement. Second time for another week to have the antenna replaced. If that doesn't help either I'll take it back again, and again: thank God for the existing Lemon Laws.

Great value on this car. Many features and make for an enjoyable ride. The infotainment systems is iffy at times but is pretty great most of the time . The car rides quietly and is very comfortable. I get great millage and overall love this car.
