Used 2006 Honda Civic Si Consumer Reviews
Sporty car for a great price!
I bought the car in January after putting 255K miles on a previous civic. The styling on this car is great, as is the stereo system, but what really makes this car stand out - and is likely to generate some extra income for the state police - is its insatiable desire to go fast. It nearly begs to be driven faster through a tight turn, and as you hit 6500 rpm it will nearly give you whiplash and you'll have to already be thinking about shifting into the next higher gear to make it before it redlines at 8000 rpm. It's a great car!
The Si
I found that the Si is a great car overall except for the gas aspect. Overall i enjoy owning/driving this vehicle. It has great pickup and a smooth drive no matter what speed you are at.
Stealth fighter
I bought my black si after my white 96 aAccord sedan was stolen and totaled (I love ya RIP). The car looks like a spaceship inside and out. The interior layout is real cool and has lots of convenience and comfort features. The seats really hug you. The mp3 sound system with sub is a nice touch. The car has good acceleration & quick handling. The engine sounds great. Buy driving gloves & get the windows tinted. The shifter burns your hand when hot & freezes it when cold. I get the same rattles as other folks but its not that bad. It's due to the stiff suspension. What do you expect? The interior is a lil bit delicate but I think folks trip out b/c black makes scuffs more noticable.
Fun Car To Drive, Best SI Ever
Bought the car new in 2006, didn't really want a car with the Navi System in it, but now I can't live without it. The performance of this car is great. I have owned other Honda's in the past, but they really outdid them selves with this model. The car really starts to perform above 6k rpm. The power curve is great, it's like the engine kicks up to another level. Glad I wanted for this year's model to come out!! Very Low maintenance, I have only had to buy tires, and normal oil changes for 49k miles. Great fuel mileage for this model. Compared to a Acura RSX with the same engine, the SI averages about 8-10 miles per gallon more.
3000 mile update
After 3000 miles I am still amazed at the value this car represents. One online reviewer used the word engaging, and I cant think of a better one. If you enjoy being totally engaged in the act of driving, you must have this car. It is quick, it handles very well, it has everything you could want as standard equipment, and even driving with right foot firmly planted on the accelerator we are getting 27 mpg in daily driving and 31 mpg on long trips. We have had only one warranty issue with the car; the dealer installed the 8 disc CD changer incorrectly. It was fixed in 15 minutes when we took it in to have it repaired.
