Incredible car
I have had this car for over a year now and it currently has over 185k on it. Six mo. after getting it my brother got the tail end hit by a truck and bent the frame but I didn't know until 2 mo. later when I was working on the dent. It still handled great and I found it had been in at least 2 more unreported accidents but you couldn't tell from driving. I even put it in a ditch and a 4 wheel alignment later it drove just like before. I had a minor electrical issue that no one but the Honda people could find, but other than that no problems(it will drive 100mi w/o alternator w/ 5spd, nothing on, and starting twice). Amazing car and I will be sorry to see it go to get a lower mileage one.
Civic is best among all Sedans
I have owned Nissan Maxima, Toyota Camry and Honda Civic. Civic is the best in terms of reliability, maintenance, gas mileage etc. I get 36 miles per gallon in city and 40 miles per gallon on highways. Very happy to own Civic in this high gas prices era. My next car would be Honda Civic Hybrid. Period
sweet car for a 17 year old
This is my third car in less than two years (after '92 S10 and '91 Celica GT) and i know that is pathetic. this is the car i will be keeping. This car revs into the stratoshpere, which i do and still get 26 mpg in city driving. i will eventually get an intake, exhaust, and new wheels and tires. only a few rattles (wierd sunroof rattle) with 53k on the clock from the previous owner. great car.
Great little car
Does everything right. No problems.
pocket Rocket
Love this car, still turns heads. The owners of the new Si, deep down wish the yhad the 99-2000 model

this car saved my life i was t-boned by an expedition going 50 miles per hour....my car is totaled but i sustained little damage. this is a very save car and when i get my insurance money im buying another just like it
review of '99 civic ex
vehicle is fun to drive..reliable... roomy enough for me, would like backseat to be a little more roomy...more headroom is needed in backseat..there really isn't anything that I would like to change, just improve upon
Great little car
Does everything right. No problems.
T otally Disappointed
I purchased this car without hesitation because of my experience with my previous 88 Civic which was the perfect car...great gas mileage and NEVER gave me even the slightest problem. This one has been troublesome from the get go. Everything about it just seemed cheap and flimsy. But my major problems were mechanical. I kept having to take it to the shop because of the oxygen sensor which for some reason the dealership couldn't get corrected. Then my transmission had to be replaced as soon as the warranty run out. The current transmission is not doing too well either. It feels as if it's out of line, but I have had it aligned twice and nothing helps. This car has soured me on Honda.
One good car
It is one zippy car. It can handle curves with ease. It also has the capablities to be upgraded to a 300hp monster.
nice
Haven't had any mechanical problems. The only things I've replaced so far besides the wiper blades are the front brakes and the tires. Those were both done after 40,000. It takes off pretty good and sounds great. Of course great gas mileage which is a plus when gas prices rise. Overall, I'd buy it again.
Value + relaibility + performance= civic
Great car for the money.
Great lil' car
After a lot of research, reading and having only $5000 to buy a car with, I went for this 99 Civic EX. I can say I don't regret the decision. I bought it with 150K on the clock and it starts / runs just like a brand new car. Very impressed. I have a feeling I will get a solid 75K to 100K more from this lil' car before any major replacements will be needed.
Can't go wrong with a Honda!

Neo-Classic?
It's 20 years old! 220,000 miles, Grind 3rd gear, burn some oil, piece it back together. What can you cay, it has served as a reliable commuter. I will replace it with the like and let somebody else play with this one.

Love My Honda
I bought my 1999 Honda Civic brand new in May of 1999. I'm still driving it! I still get 28-34 mpg. Not bad for 25 years! I intend to continue to drive it until it dies.

Just ok i guess
EX is a nice package for an economy car. Manuel transmission has its pluses as well. Decent mileage on flat Louisiana roads is a disappointment (32 mpg). but overall from 66K to 100K one thing after another is breaking. Master cylinder replaced distributor replaced. Timing belt and water pump replaced as recommended so I knew that going into it. Rear passenger door will not open at all, cruse control broken, CD player broken, paint chipping on bumper, steering wheel chipping and uncomfortable, horn pad broken off, muffler falling off. Can't think of anything else but i know i am missing a thing or two.
I'll never get another Honda again
This was the first new car I've ever owned and it is the last Honda I will ever own. What a lemon! I've had the entire electrical system replaced TWICE and still there are problems. I put the car in park, the radio shuts off. I press the cruise control, the dome light comes on. The engine cuts out or just won't start for no reason, I can't go over 50 mph with the AC on or it shoots to 5000 rpm, and the body quality is pathetic. I was "bumped" by an SUV at about 1 mph and it caused over $1500 in damages. I only wish he had hit me harder and totalled the car so I would never have to deal with it again. Not Honda, never again.
Mr. Dependable
What can you say that has not already been said by Honda. This is my first Honda after owning three Nissan's and I will never own anything other than a Honda. Excellent fuel economy 42 mpg on hwy and 37 mpg city. I have owned this car for 4.5 yrs. and done nothing other than routine maintenance and oil changes every 3K miles. This is a fun car to drive.
Honda Civic 99
I purchased my civic used and it has been a charmer. No problems and has not been in the shop since I got it. I have had other Hondas and find them to be very reliable cars.
Nice
hey all. i havnt driven this car yet cuz im like, 14 but i have rode in it and thought it was awsome. my friend was driving it and he could chirp the tires into 3rd. it was awsome. i highly recomend this car for everyone looking for a fun, stylish, fast, reliable honda. ttyl.
wishing i had my 93 integra back
now i understand this car is about value and all, but boy is it cheap. Rattles every little bump i take, power windows hardly roll down anymore, awful noises when starting in cold (dealership and mechanic can't target the problem). I can barely hear a passenger when driving on the highway. I wish my I didn't replace my 93 acura...
