Honda Civic LX Review
My experience with this vehicle has been great. Get excellent mpg av 34mpg. Fun to drive. Zippy. One qualifier however is that it takes time to accelerate to the zippy level..a few seconds but once you reach speed then great maneuverability. No major work done just normal maintenance..oil changes etc...
Unmatched Reliability
This is the best car that I have ever bought it has over 100,000 miles and it still drives like new! It requires minimum maintenance while at the same time giving the driver excellent fuel economy and performance! And oh yeah it was also rated the best looking car in its class!
Reliable+++++
I bought this car new and in 4 1/2 years all I have done is put in gas and oil and new brake pads(once). I do most of my driving in town and it is pretty good on gas. It is comfortable for our family of 4. The upholstery is basic but actually has stood up very well to the kids. The resale is also very high, but I wouldn't dream of selling it.
not too bad
It is not too bad car even though it's noisy, less powerful. I surprised when I sold my civic at a higher price than I thought last month. That's a good experience. I just bought a 2003 toyota corolla. I really don't know corolla is such a good car before. I strongly suggest you trade your civic with this one if you want to change.
the highest R.O.I.
Cars are money pits. There is no way to "win". This is BY FAR the closest I have come to beating the system. 163,750 miles with NO major repairs. Distributor (O2 sensor) is only repair. Replaced trunk shocks but I put a lot of wear on them. I have been using the car for the last 18 months to do landscaping! My friends laughed at me at first but at 35-40 MPG I am laughing all the way PAST the gas station! Will need clutch work soon and I will not hesitate to invest in this car. I am confident I will put 300,000 miles on this car before I am done with it.
1 major problem
Overall, great car. Smooth engine, shifts nicely. 1 huge problem, that has been apparent since I bought it, and am now finally having fixed....no adjustable camber! My tires are wearing every 11 months, and techs said, it is due to no allowable camber adjustments. To get it to align properly, have to put aftermarket camber kits on it to fix the problem. Honda should have known better! Besides this, everything is kosher. Recommend adding camber adjustments for future models.
1999 Honda Civic EX 2 Door Coupe
It's a very high quality car and well worth paying a pretty penny for.If you like going fast I'd suggest you buy one of these cars, and plus you look good even when your just driving it.
Love my Honda! You will too!
Since I have purchased this vehicle, I have stopped worrying about reliability of the car I drive. My Honda (as is every Honda!) is very dependable and has great gas milage. I could not ask for more at such a reasonable price! I plan on making my entire family, a Honda family! Thank you Honda!
Perfect Compact Sedan
Excellent small size sedan, reliable, good styling, good mileage and on top of everything holds its value over the period of time.
A car with two personalities
I got my 99 Si in mid 1999 and never regret the purchase. It has been very reliable and fun to drive. After 4+ years of owning it, I still get $10000+ offers for it!
Great
I myself have enjoyed having my honda civic. It always start up with no problem ,but like any car it just need to be loved and cared for.
Good, but not as good as everyone says
This is my second Honda and it's good, but not as good as everyone says. It's extremely reliable and the build quality is excellent. I've never fixed it and the maintenance schedule is very easy on the wallet. Unfortunately, there are a few little things that irk me. The cup holders have no teeth so drinks can fall over in turns, the shifter is runnery, and when there is no memory on the seat. When you let someone into the back, the seat returns to a position that is 90 degrees to the floor.
It the sport car you should begin with
It a really high performence car you should begin with b4 you can into something more powerful!!!
A perfect 10!
My first new Honda Civic was in 1992 with the new body style. I'm on my fourth Civic - graduating to the EX. I have beaten every one of them up and they never fail me. I'm ready to buy #5 soon - probably the 2003. They hold their value no matter how long you've had your Honda. I've never lost money in the sales of my Civics. Highly Recommended to younger females because of reliability!!!
Love My Car
I have thoroughly enjoyed my Civic and, for the price, have found it one of the best cars I have ever owned. I've had to watch my speed at times on the highway, though, because it will easily cruise at 80 mph. It has always been reliable and economical, requiring only its routine scheduled maintenance and oil changes. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to have a fun drive, get good gas mileage, and not worry about breakdowns or high-cost maintenance.
Safe Bet
Bought new. Rear defogger stopped working just after the factory warranty expired. Oxygen sensor and front power windows failed last year. No engine/transmission problems so far. About 32 mpg mixed highway/city and 36mpg highway with air conditioner fully on.
not bad
the car handles like no other front wheel drive ive driven, my mods to it are as follows aem short ram dc sports 4-2-1 header dc sports short trow shifter apexi n1 cat back hyperflow cat tanabe suspinsion, 2 inch drop 16x7 inch rims gas mileage in the city so far, 25-30 mpg i bought the car with 40,000 on it and i really enjoy the car the arrest me red paint is the greatest only prob i have is the passenger windo sometimes has a problem rolling up
my civic
my civic is driven 100 miles plus per day and has 137000 miles on it, I keep up with factory recommended maintenance and i have never had a problem with my car. I bought it off the showroom floor with only8 miles on it. I love my civic.
Cheap, head-turning fun
This car is a blast to drive. It loves to be driven like a race car, but at the same time it is a great daily driver, smooth and quiet. VTEC gives this car a split personality above and below 4000 revs.
As good as its reputation...
I love my little silver Civic because it is reliable, comfortable, and bigger than it looks. Need I say that it is great on fuel economy and low mantinentce? My major issue is that exterior is cheaply made, which makes this car very vulnerable to dings and scratches. Likewise, I have had more flat tires in four years than some people have their whole lives, but maybe that is just me. The performance is decent for the price and size of the engine, but if you want horsepower, opt for the si version. Repairs to date: new front brakes, new exhaust and lots of new tires.
What more could you ask for...
I've had my Civic for three years. I have had no trouble with it at all. I am very impressed with the quality of the car. I have 65000 miles and still get great gas mileage, the engine sounds great, and it still looks new. I would buy another Honda in a heartbeat!
1999 Honda Civis LX Sedan
Love it. The only reason I am leaving the Honda feel is to check out the new Passat's.
Transmission noise
Only problems have been a cracked manifold (Honda has an extended warrenty for this and will replace for free) and whining gear noise from tranmission. It developed this after 70K miles and it seems to be getting worse. No maintenance other than scheduled maintence required except manifold.
A great car for little people
This car is ideal for getting around town if you are a person who is five ten or shorter. I am a five foot four female and i have no problem feeling comfortable in my car but some of my male friends feel differently. there is little head and leg room for people who are tall.
Great Car
Before I had an Si I drove a Civic EX. It was a good looking reliable car, but it was pretty slow. Then I got a 99 Si. Boy was a I blown away by the looks, preformance and reliablity that this car has.
I'll only get a honda from now on.
Overall, a great car. Fun toi drive with smooth engine and have had no problems. It's worth every penny. The shape is awesome. I recommend that you not add body kits because it looks great the way it is. Adding a "complete" exhaust system works. I added it five days ago, and i can definately see the difference. Especially when the VTEC engages.
Started Up EVERY Time, No Trouble Car
I actually leased this vehicle, and a better symbol of reliability I have not seen. Started up every single time (summer or winter) and never ever had any problems. The car is not made for luxury by any means, but if you need a quick commute car, this is it! Also, I'm 6'3" and I fit in no probs!
Great for Getting to School or Work
This red '99 Honda Civic has been great fun to drive. It gets about 30 Mile/Gal, and has a new transmission and A/C compressor. Most of my driving has been to get to college, get to work and socially around town. Hardly any highway driving
Money Well Spent
Second satisfied owner - purchased 4 years ago w/upgraded suspension, stereo, & intake. I really like the car and will drive it until the wheels fall off. Although its first and foremost an economy car, it's a really good one. Gets 25-35mpg on 32mi suburban commute and >36 on long trips (more w/synthetic oil). Although it gasps (35mph) over Colorado's I70 mountain passes, it otherwise offers surprising performance. Requires only routine maintenance, much of which can be performed by owner. Unfortunately, arrogant attitude at several dealerships is that Hondas sell themselves, so they don't have to work as hard or appreciate the customer as much - a real turn-off for me.
Not too bad
So far i've put 5k miles on the car in the last 4 months. The gas mileage is awsome, i've been averaging 29-30mpg and i'm an aggressive driver. I"m more interested in performance and sportyness ratehr than comfort but this car does a little of both. I drove it on a 6hr trip and I was fine. There is quite a bit of road noise that could be delt with by adding some more insulation to the car, theres only a couple squares of foam in the floor. The car is light and handles very well. The engine is kinda sad but Honda has managed to get well within the 100hp/L, something most american cars never achieve. The stereo isn't all that great and the quality of the interior components aren't very good.
Good Car!!!
I really love this car. It's been great for getting around the city streets in and driving it on the highway every day to work. Gas milage is good. It did very well on a long trip out of town too. I like its zippiness, I have a hard time keeping it below 80mph on the highway, (That just seems to be a comfortable speed for it; works for me!!!)
Good value economy car
Out of college I had a long commute into work (about 75 miles a day) and bought this car as a result. I've put about 60k miles on it in the last two years. It does a great job providing cheap, reliable transportation. Gets 33 mpg and is simple to work on. The only things I have had to do are change the muffler and midpipe (both rusted out) and driver's side window regulator. I also just recently put in Tokico HP struts because the old ones had lost a lot of their damping ability at 155k. In another year or so I'll do the timing belt/water pump. Still has the original clutch, we'll see how long it goes.
good
good deal on a reliable car. the road noise is the worst thing about this car.
my son's civic
I bought the 99 civic for my 17 year old son with 82,000 miles on it. It has been a solid car and he has not had any mechanical problems. He gets about 32 miles per gallon average. It is sporty, fun to drive, and it seems to be what all the young men are looking for. He plans on keeping it through his four years of college and I believe that it will last that long if not longer.
Awsome Vehicle
I recently purchased this car, I have owned many, many Hondas/Acuras and they build a very nice car. My new 99 ex sedan has always had its routine services, and always done by certified Honda Techs. and you can tell it. It's ten years old, but looks amazing inside and out. Has a auto trans and shifts smooth, and rides nice. As long as you do the necessary work when it needs to be done, this car, along with all the other Hondas, will last a very, very long time.
I can't stop driving this!!!
There isn't much I don't like about this car....even though its still stock! It comes with all the options. I have more room in this civic than in my previous two cars(89 camry, 90 camry). The gas mileage is an added bonus. The snappy VTEC engine gives you the power you need in a coupe. You definately get good bang for the buck.
AWESOME CAR
This car has been very reliable. I've owned my car for 5 years and have never had any mechanical problems. And it's very thrifty on gas. I get 25 miles to the gallon. I highly recommend this car to anyone who is looking for reliable transportation, with style, it's a cute car. You really get your moneys worth with this one.
Very, very good to me!
Bought a silver one new in '99 and have replaced brake shoes and the timing belt. That's it.. Besides a plugged windshield sprayer and a fuse for the cooling fan nothing to report. Selling now with 194,000 kms and oil is still always clean.
Excellent Ride and Value
This is an excellent 4 cylinder. With only 1.6L of displacement this car is incredible. Redlining all the way to 8000rpms is a blast, but killer on the gas economy. Enough room in the back to fit 4 average adults comfortably and a very large trunk for this size car. A bit more than regular civics, but it's VERY worth it. This is a completely different car than a regular civic, but it's HARD to find.
I love this car
I purchased this car from my grandma after she had it for 4 years. I have spent a bit on it replacing the exhaust system (from sitting in a parking lot for 4 years and not being driven when my grandma owned it), but it has been reliable for me the entire time I have had it. I have had to put virtually no money in this car and it always seems to run perfectly!
I will keep this car forever
I bought my Civic as a used "certified" car with 41,000 miles on it. The car was bought new from the dealer I purchased it from, serviced there, and then traded on another (same color even!) The car is a blast to drive, and looks good getting great mileage. I took it on a trip recently and even with a lot of secondary road travel, I got 41 mpg. I have the taller spoiler and have been asked what kind of car it is (it has been mistaken for a prelude by some) I just had it painted at a cost of 4,982 dollars due to a gravel hauler incident (no body work, just paint) and plan to pull it off the road for the winters now. When I pay it off, I'll buy a little larger Accord and have fun with this one
Great Car
I love everthing about this car. The 99 drives and great looks great! The gas mileage is remarkable.
Trouble-free
Mine is a european 1400cc/90hp version. Yet it's quite fun to drive, and can carry 4 adults w/bags. The handling is good, w/ a nice shift (manual). The interior is still as news after 3 years, though the grey color is kinda dull (IMO). I would highly recommend this car, especially used, because of superior quality, reliability and small price. Winz, Paris, France.
Great Car!
Great car for the price and reliability...fun to drive..
both practical and fun
It has the look of a stylish car (when clean), has the feel of a fun college run around car, has good get up and go, and is roomy enough for a family car. Very practical, useful and solid. Also very comfortable and smart. I'm proud to own it.
First New Car.....
Well, The '99 Si was my first brand new car. I was driving an '87 Prelude Si. When I first test drove it, I felt that the prelude was snappier. i then decided to try a theory. Since the Civic had an entirely different RPM range, I changed the RPM where I was shifting and it became another beast. I bought the car that day.
The Gold Standard
I adore my Civic. The ride is smooth and enjoyable; shifting is a piece of cake (I have a manual); while not powerful, it will give you a kick to pass someone if need be. Not a lot of frills, but utterly reliable. We're at 156k miles, and I imagine my toddler inheriting it when he's driving age! Take care of your Honda--follow maintenance schedule, change the oil, fill it with Chevron, Shell, etc.--you're in for a treat. And did I mention that I consistently get 37-38 mpg in mixed city driving? Incredible. Who needs a Prius?
Great Car
This has been an amazing vehicle. It goes in all kinds of weather and has held up very well. No mechanical problems.
Best Buy
Great car, It is my first car and I looked around and bargined the dealer down to a good price. I have been very pleased with the car. I average up to 30+ MPG on highway (depends on how full the car is). You will pay several thousand more versus Ford or Dodges similar models but value that it holds more than makes up for that. When you want reliability, buy a Honda. SImple as that.
this car saved my life
this car saved my life i was t-boned by an expedition going 50 miles per hour....my car is totaled but i sustained little damage. this is a very save car and when i get my insurance money im buying another just like it
