Used 1999 Honda Civic Consumer Reviews
99 Civic Lx
Great car so far, no problems what so ever. Added some upgrades and have turned this blah looking car into something real cool to look at and drive, really a chick car but worth the money for a reliable small car.
Low $ / High Return
Three years old and it still gets looks from everybody. Great performance form only 1.6 liters. Rev it up to 6-7,000 rmp and let it rip. Get rid of the crappy Michelins, switch to performance tires. I have Toyo Proxes T1-S on her now, and what a difference. Change the brake pads as soon as you can, get EBC Green Stuff pads, you'll love them. This car gets 30+ mpg on the highway and 22+ when you decide to play. Reliable,Reliable,Reliable,Reliable. Bottom line.....Best Si Honda has made to date (although, the new Si HB is very, very nice).
Great little car
Got it with about 92k in October(now @ 110k). I voluntarily replaced my water pump & timing belt before it hit 100k, new brake pads (front & back), and rotors. Only engine mods are a Cold-air intake & pulleys done by the previous owner who I'm guessing drove it hard. Window regulators need changed soon, and A/C compressor needs replaced. Drives great, consistently get around 30-32 mpg with mixed city/hwy driving, and I drive very aggressively & fly on the highway 75+ miles/hr Replaced stereo & speakers and tinted the windows slightly for a more enjoyable ride. If you're looking for a low-maintenance car, get a 5spd EX for max fun without as much worry of theft as the SI.
not too bad
It is not too bad car even though it's noisy, less powerful. I surprised when I sold my civic at a higher price than I thought last month. That's a good experience. I just bought a 2003 toyota corolla. I really don't know corolla is such a good car before. I strongly suggest you trade your civic with this one if you want to change.
the highest R.O.I.
Cars are money pits. There is no way to "win". This is BY FAR the closest I have come to beating the system. 163,750 miles with NO major repairs. Distributor (O2 sensor) is only repair. Replaced trunk shocks but I put a lot of wear on them. I have been using the car for the last 18 months to do landscaping! My friends laughed at me at first but at 35-40 MPG I am laughing all the way PAST the gas station! Will need clutch work soon and I will not hesitate to invest in this car. I am confident I will put 300,000 miles on this car before I am done with it.
