Locked inside car once security system engages

dmc812, 06/19/2013

I have a complaint with the security system Honda uses. I have been inadvertently locked inside my 09 Accord and unable to get out. Apparently, once the anti-theft system engages after 30 seconds, there is no way to manually unlock the car doors nor will using the key fob "unlock" button work from the inside of the car. The car can only be unlocked from someone on the outside or by starting the engine, which disengages the security system. I find this to be a huge safety issue for people that are inside the car and are accidentally locked inside w/o a key to start the engine. I have complained to Honda with no resolution to this safety concern.

Fine Example of a Truly Reliable Accord

With 157k miles, it has been the most reliable car I ever had. It's sturdy, solid and very well made. The steering is precise, the leather interior is comfortable and holds up fine. The V6 engine is powerful, the transmission shifts are quick and smooth. It's a 5-speed so highway gas mileage is good but not great. I intend to keep it indefinitely! Great car!

VCM (variable cylinder managment) misfire, engine

UPDATE. This whole ECO mode is not good. Now we wish we bought a 4 cyl. reg engine. I had to change sparkplugs again after only 35,000 miles. I had the light engine come on again so I just changed the sparkplugs and everything works again. The ones sitting at the back of the engine were much more worn out-more burned/blackish. and this is after the software update. So either they still wear out very unevenly, or Calgary Honda never replaced the back sprkplugs, since access to to back ones is more difficult. So either Honda desing sucks, or Honda dealrship sucks, take your pick. ----------------I'm posting this review for those who had problems with the VCM/engine misfire. It happened to us last week. Without a warning the car started stuttering and the flashing engine light came on. It sounded to me like a timing/sparkplugs problem. We found some scary info about class action suit against Honda due to the engine design problem. Took it to Honda dealer. They replaced 4 out of 6 sparkplugs and updated the car software. I talked to the shop foreman (yes, you have to insist on it, though the reception girl will first tell you that mechanics don't talk to customers, WHY??). This is what the foreman told me:

Accord aint what it once was

This is the 2nd Accord I've owned. The first was bought new in 1993. Drove it for 15 years and never missed a beat. Fantastic car. But the 2009 has been a huge disappointment. Here's a laundry list of it's shortcomings: Rear brakes have been replaced twice. (97000 miles on car) 1st time under warranty (partially) 2nd time on me. rotors pads and calipers. Rear deck rattles along with various rattles from the dash. Carpet on passenger side won't stay put. Keyfobs (yes both) are inoperable. At 90,000 it began burning oil. Now burns a quart of oil every 1500-1700 miles, but Honda says that's normal (BS). Road noise is rather high. Fan for the heater/AC is squeaky on low. So it's high or tear your hair out with aggravation. Drivers seat is good for about an hour of driving before back ache sets in. I kept the car cause it was paid for, but the oil burning is the final straw for me. Getting rid of it soon. Won't ever get another Honda.

My First Honda Has Been A Winner

(1st review @ 59100 miles, with combined mpg 26.2) Manufacturer advises against a trailer hitch including one that would hold a bike away from your car because it sits low to ground and bumper cover is closer to ground than other years. Dealer told me after purchase, you should always use a flat bed truck for this year model if ever has to be towed; otherwise, fiberglass of bump can get damaged. The exterior noise level that can be heard in the car is terrible, especially at high speed. I noticed in the test drive, even with with high frequency hearing loss but did not dismiss the car because of its safety report and history of low repairs over 5 years on this model on the Edmunds' website (Sorry, I haven't been able to relocate that very useful tool). As an original owner in July 2009 to January 7, 2016, there has been one repair that would have been close to a grand [1/15/17 door window motor issue] but I had bought the best extended warranty my dealer recommended. Interior is great! Two men have sat in my car at the same time who were ~ 6 feet. Trunk is a dream - holds 4 wheeled carry on bags. It has no navigation but I do not miss it. I love this car as much as I did my three rear wheeled drive Mercury Cougars ( gave up on this one when they went front wheel drive) but now get better miles/gallon. No plans to sell. I tend to hold on to cars 10-16 years. For mostly city driving the noise is not noticeable but on trips of more than an hour of highway, it is miserable because you cannot hear the radio without turning it up loud. (2nd review 1/15/18, @ 799008) Since the last review, my highway driving increased significantly to take my mother to visit her sisters out of town and state multiple times, and multiple times per week to church. My mileage per gallon has been 21.9 to 30. In city, around 23 mpg average and highway around 26.5 mpg average, if I do not speed. Except for the interior, I still stand by my previous rating and review but will add more comments. This car is not built to go through water that is at curb level or higher. It does not have to be Hurricane Harvey. In my case, it was a brief fast moving topical storm heavy rain in an area I do not normally drive before I realized I was in high water. The engine was replaced with another used Honda engine with 5,000+ less miles. It is a pain having to have a flat bed tow truck because I had to argue with the police officer about it after a non-flatbed tow driver called the police for the city road clear ordinance. The officer did let me push it to a side street in the pouring rain with the help of several non-English speaking men who stopped to help me. Before the original engine met high water, I felt something under the hood was noisy. This continued even with the replacement engine so the noise is not the engine. Essentially, the mechanic said to wait to see if something fails and fix it at that time. The "leather" covering on the middle compartment/arm rest has failed and I believe no covering on that part is a better option for cosmetic longevity. With the pushing of the car, I learned the door coverings are easily damaged by moderate to heavy rain. Until that time, it had not been a problem. To date, I think the cost have been generally standard maintenance - batteries, brakes, fuel pump (~ 75,000 miles), tires, oil change, fluid flushes, two bulbs, rotations, and alignment. There was an airbag recall but it did not cost me anything. Though I looked at the Edmunds website about a year and a half ago, I do not plan to sell. I was mostly curious about my car status. I love not having a car payment. My primary issue is how the Edmunds website changed. It was an excellent source for consumers to compare cars especially related to make and model specifications, safety and history of repairs over 5 years. This tool is no longer on the website. I heard it was sold. The last time I visited (1.5 years ago) it seemed seller focused, not consumer focused. :( Ironically, my aunt bought this same car and color in 2009 as I did. I did not find out until years later when she drove from Mississippi to Texas. She had issues with it other than the noise level we both complained about. Her son has it now and he has souped it up even though it is over 100,000 miles. 5/17/2020 Still have it. No plans to sell or trade in. Since Covid-19 its approach to 100,000 miles has slowed but within ~ 4,000 miles. No major repairs, but whatever it is called that causes the window to go up and down on the front passenger side stopped work and was replace. Tires, batteries, Turns 11 years old this summer. :) 8/6/23 Still love this car. It was a hefty investment and well worth it. ~109,000 miles.

3+ Years and 55,000 miles - The Good and the Bad

The Accord is well built with little or no rattles or squeaks. The brake issues have been well documented, I got over 22,000 miles on mine before replacement - most was covered by the class action suit. This vehicle drives very well but road noise is an issue. It handles well, especially around town. The headrests are slung too far forward for comfort, but I was able to adjust my seat more vertically to compensate. I have also worked the head rest back and forth and this has loosened it up a bit. The interior is refined and the controls are intuitive once I got the hang of them. Overall this is a very good car. I would be great with better noise control and a different head rest.

It is true that most people who write reviews are the ones with problems, and they want/need to vent. Happy customers just enjoy their purchases. But still, reading some of the low reviews here makes you wonder: are those people for real? In my experience Honda is nothing but quality, quality and reliability. My wife and I bought our 2009 EX-L V6 accord with 44000 miles on it. The car drove like new from the dealer, and drives beautifully now, almost a year later. Everything works perfect, the doors close with a nice thud, the engine is smooth like butter. Steering is sooo precise, every switch and control operates with assurance. Seats are comfortable and we have no problem with brakes.

I heard the seats were a little uncomfortable and found a way to fix it! The lumbar support is a little stiff and if you stick something in the headrest while pushing it forward, it makes a HUGE difference. The lumbar goes back significantly and the seat is much more comfortable. Other then that, this car has been awesome!

Great car, love the interior and exterior. Have not had a single problem in 35K miles, just went on a 2,000 mile road trip and it was great! Very comfortable. I wish the fuel economy was better though. I only observed between 25-27 MPG on the whole trip and it is only a 4 cylinder engine... It had no trouble getting up hills, and the transmission did a flawless job holding speed down steep grades.

Like many reviews before me on this site, we've owned honda's our whole life, and bought the 2009 V6 Accord based on our the value and reliability that Honda built is reputation on...well, we were thinking about buying the new Pilot to replace our 2002 CRV, but after our poor experience with the quality of our 2009 Accord, it's time to try another car manufacturer. Already have the rear disc brakes replaced due as a part of the class action lawsuit, the driver side lumber controls stopped working at 30k miles, and continue to have issues with the battery/starter. I had originally planned to drive the car into the ground like we've done with all our other honda's, but want to sell it now.

I tend to buy cars and run them for many years and for 200k + miles. I did a lot of research and was concerned about the 4cyl using oil as that complaint was reported by some 08-09 owners but in 3k miles I haven't used a drop. Seats are comfortable and handling is good. It's just a 4 cyl so don't expect great performance. It's geared right so even going up hills it rarely downshifts. Honda tends to build good cars and this is no exception, even though it's already 7 yrs old, everything is tight, no rattles. I drive 25 mi to work every day and get about 30 mpg. Only thing I don't like is there's no outside temp. display, seems odd that was left out. When going shopping, which is a 45 min drive, the whole family wants to take the Accord because it's the most comfortable car we have, compared to the 08 Highlander...

These reviews kill me. People gripe about stuff they should have noticed on the test drive. They obviously didn't do their due diligence and now they're pissed at themselves for buying a car that doesn't please them. Well, duh. I bought this one with 48k miles, now it's at 70k. It's been great! Yes, it has road noise and yes, a bit of body roll. I knew that going in. The steering and front end are excellent. The engine (V6) and transmission are strong and very fast. It's been reliable with no complaints. I drive it a bit hard so the fuel mileage averages 24 city & highway. On a long trip it's comfortable and quick. If you find one properly serviced, drive it first, then buy the sucker!

Pigtail connector

The Honda Accord was my dream car sense i was in high school over 20 years ago, and my husband was determine to find me my dream car, which he did 10 months before he took his journey to be with the Lord 1-2016. So i am determine to take care of my car because it was the very last gift that he purchased for me. however i have experience some car issues for the first time sense He purchased the car from Goodwin Honda now Freedom Honda in Sumter SC on 3-2015. The alternator went bad and burnt out the pigtail wiring harness which almost caught on firer. Now i have purchase the alternator however i am having the hardest time finding the pigtail wire connector. I am finding that no one has that part, not even the junkyard. I have been informed that i will have to buy the whole engine wiring harness. The pigtail wiring harness is not sold separately. My engine wiring harness was not damaged only the pigtail part but in order to get the part that i need i have to buy a part that i don't need which is what strange to me. For Honda to brand themselves on being the top of the line it should not be so difficult for owner to retrieve what they need in order for there cars to run properly. Buying parts that you don't need in order to get the part that you do need is a waste of money. I have never seen nothing like it. I was just wondering if someone else has experience the same problem as i have. Difficulty purchasing parts. Because i live in the south, the temperature stays in the 90's or above. With the leather interior the heat will cause it to thin and wrinkle. For Honda to be such a beautiful luxury car up there with the Lexus, the quality of the leather interior should be more suitable in strength as far as heat resistant. I love Hondas i do believe that these are the best made cars. If taken care of properly it will last for a long time. Good on gas, good on miles, beautiful luxury cars. However don't make it so difficult for owner when repairs need to be done. #STRESSFUL

While this sedan is probably one of the best around, make sure you test drive. The VCM at 65-75 MPH is constantly changing between the 3-4 modes and can cause jerking response. It is noticeable, causes nausea. Make sure you are ok with this. Be aware that the car must be warmed up for the VCM to work. Using cruise control and holding your right foot extremely still helps. Otherwise just drive 95+ to keep it in 6 mode. Everything else is just same good old Honda...engine...controls, fit/finish...reliability

We have owned 4 Accord Coupe's starting in 1999. All purchased new and each new model has been progressively worse, in quiet , comfort and reliability. I am fastidious about car maintenance and the detail of maintenance of this Accord has been excellent. The car is noisey and has rattles . The braking system has been nothing short of unreliable. All brakes and rotors have been replaced 2x and now it appears as if we must replace a brake caliper... it is locking up on us after short trips. We have also replaced wheel bearings and have had an on going oil problem. This oil problem is related to the same issues that prompted the class action suit. We have now purchased a new Accord EX-L 4 door with Honda Safety Suite. We are driving this one much less. We have owned it since July and as of December 15 , have only 3200 miles on it. Let us hope we are much more satisfied with this Accord. The 2016 Accord as of December 19th ,2017 appears to be more in line with Honda’s Reputation. No issues and much more quiet , comfortable ride. Though it must be noted, my wife has only driven the vehicle 13,000 Miles. Now at 18,900 miles , Honda has once again not come up with a solution to brake issues. The rear rotors have been replaced and now the front rotors are going to be turned down. This is due to inferior brake rotor material. All materials used in the manufacture of vehicles have been reduced in weight for the goal of fuel efficiency.... brake rotors should not . I have owned 2 CRV EXL models and have decided that I will replace the one I presently own with a Toyota.. Goodbye Honda’s.

I no longer own this Accord. The Accord was replaced by a 2013 VW Passat SE with 6 speed automatic with 28K miles. Accord was great car. My only complaint was road noise. You could not carry a conversation or be on the phone at highway speed driving over concrete roads. I thought maybe the original Michelin MXVs that went 64K miles were to blame. I got Goodyear grand touring tires and it did not make any difference. Build quality, reliability, feel were top notch. Seat comfortable was not the best but it is better with leather (EXL) than it is with cloth seats. (LX or EX) I sold the Accord since I was tired of manual transmission and lack of phone and audio bluetooth.

Love my accord. some people that leave reviews have no idea what they are talking about. They complain about the seat not comfy, well if you weigh 300+ lbs then no seat is comfy. I am 170 and the seats hug me sooo nice. I feel like I'm in sports car. This thing is safe, reliable, family and fun to drive.

I purchased this car 10/09, my 4th Accord. I was so excited! Brand new, black on black, I felt a little "classy"! All of that excitement ended in 5/5/10 when I began to have engine problems that left me stalled in busy traffic 4 times. After multiple visits to my dealership and 2 returned phone calls from Honda "customer service" out of 9 messages left I am still no where. Corporate is stalling (pardon the pun, just like my car). They are doing the 3rd oil consumption test after the last 2 failed miserably! Why? They have told me to check the oil every time I get gas, really? Isn't that one of the perks of owning a new car? I can't believe I'm dealing with this. Beware and don't buy!

This is a great car. Very reliable and comfortable. You keep up on your maintenance and it will be a wonderful car for many years. My car has heated leather seats, premium sound, sunroof, and convenient controls. It’s great in the snow and gives a comfortable ride. She’s got a snappy 4 cylinder engine that can get up and go when you need to. I feel she’s good on gas mileage. Mine has been a very reliable car. She would make a great addition to your family.

I drove my friend's 2009 Honda Accord LX on a 250 mile road trip and I feel that I got a better enough feel of this car to write a review. At highway speeds the Accord has road noise and some wind noise and ride quality is not that good. The 4 cyl engine is noisy also vibrates alot at idle. This 8th generation Accord has a cheaper feeling interior as well. The car has extraordinary handling characteristics it tracks like a locomotive and it feels very stable at triple digit speeds. Power from engine was good too. The Accord has 50,000 miles and it never caused a single problem so I recommend this car to someone looking for a reliable sedan with sporty driving characteristics

I got the car 2 years and 6 months back. Within first month the steering wheel gave me noises. At first honda did tried to avoid it, but finally they changed. Since then I have vibrations in my steering wheel at 70mph. The dealer has not been able to fix it since then. The car has a very stiff and bumpy ride. My daughter (she is now 4 months) constantly groans when she is in the car. Wind noise is so loud that you feel less noise in Chevy traverse or subaru outback on highway with window half opened than the Accord with window closed! Leather seats are hard and uncomfortable

I bought my 2009 Honda Accord EX-L 3.5 L with Navigation new from the dealer in 2008. I now have 93,xxx miles on it with no problem. I changed the oil every 6k mile and that's it! Dealer sold me 4 oild chnage for $100. That is it. Oh, I almost forget. After 6000 miles, the dealer replaced the rear breaks at no charge to me. Buy it, drive it and enjoy it. It is a most dependable car I've had.

I had the car since new (LX, 4 cylinder). Aside from wear and tear items (eg. brakes, tires, battery, fluid replacements), I had to replace 1) the VTC actuator, 2) timing chain tensioner, 3) transmission axle/seal, 4) front strut, 5) front wheel bearing. Now @ 110k mi, 6) interior console lights are not working and the fix involves replacing the whole radio console, which is not worth it.

I'm a car afficionado, so I notice a lot of details. The pluses include great reliability (no probs after 57K), beautiful driveline (acceleration and smoothline) with the upline 189 HP EX-L engine, paint and leather holding up well, first Accord that had enough styling that I would consider getting one. The bad are EXCESSIVE body roll--I came from a sports sedan and in the Honda you simply cannot go around corner fast, it's like riding in a tall SUV. Excessive buttons--I still haven't changed the clock for daylight savings as I'm sick of opening the manual to learn the buttons for everything, rear end styling is droopy (front and side much nicer), ROAD NOISE, lack of any interior luxury.

I think most people have always confused the accord and the civic with some kinds of wannabe track car. These are passenger vehicles. Front wheel drive and fuel efficient. Everyone wants these tight handling sedans. Honda would not survive if they did not grow. In this country we have wide open streets and long straight highways. Yes; we will have the occasional twisty. Think of this car as a step up from the 07 accord. Similar to the 2000 Acura RL. It is a safe reliable family and passenger vehicle. If you want performance, you want rear wheel drive. Get an S2000. It's a great car with good firm wheel feel. Consistent steering and solid brakes. Roomy and comfortable.

I've shopped everywhere for a affordable yet sporty midsized. I've looked at Camry, Maxima, and Mazda. The best was Honda Accord. It's got luxury, power, attractiveness, and even comfort. The V6 EX L is not cheap. I ended up paying over $31,000 after taxes and fees but it's been well worth it. Acceleration is more than enough for my wife and me, interior room is very spacious, and I feel like I'm in a true luxury vehicle. Sometimes I forget that it's a Honda. Yes, it's that good.

I bought this car after a bad experience with a Hyundai. The Honda is head and shoulders above its Korean cousin. The Accord's handling and road manners are impeccable. Interior is roomy and very ergonomic. The engine is very responsive and smooth for a 4 cyl. Gas mileage is pretty good (currently getting 23 city/ 30 highway). Road noise is higher than other sedans in this class but not horrible. I expect that when I eventually replace the OEM Dunlops that road noise and handling will both improve. Trunk is not huge but big enough. Appearance is of course very subjective but to me the car looks an awful lot like a 5 series BMW. Fit and finish is without equal in this class and for around 20K

We purchased our 2009 Accord 4 dr EX 6 cyl new in April 2009. We have been very happy with this car. We have had the recommended maintenance performed, and only had to have new brakes on the front and back once in 96,000 mi. Battery has been replaced once. There were a couple of airbag recalls by Honda which we had the dealer take care of. That's been it. No other repairs have been needed. It has proven to be a very reliable car, and good in upstate New York snow with snow tires.

I purchased this vehicle a year ago and work with the same dealer, in Michigan,I have worked with over 15 years-Honda Bloomfield-these folks just get better and better! The 2009 Honda Accord's traction in winter snow and ice is phenomenal-best I've ever driven. I count on reliability in any car I drive and this vehicle provides outstanding reliability. Seating comfort needs to be upgraded and the road noise needs to be reduced to bring this vehicle to near perfect for a "smooth ride." I reliably get 33.3 miles a gallon in this 2009 Honda Accord.

We have had our Accord for two weeks. Our gas mileage averages 25 mpg with the best mileage being 31 mpg. My wife and i are very pleased with the car and found it both comfortable and easy to drive. The seat are firm but on long trips still comfortable. Road noise is not excessive and is related to the type of pavement.

My Accord is a terrific city car and once I figured out that I had to adjust my seat to be more straight backed than I had been used to, the seat became more comfortable for longer drives. The car remains solid, I have not yet had the rear brake problems others have noted and my overall gas mileage is around 25 MPG, not bad. This car handles beautifully for a fwd sedan, but the road noise is noticeable, Honda can do better. Overall, I really like this car but the seats and the road noise keep me from completely loving it. Build quality is excellent, there are absolutely no squeaks or rattles. I can tell this car will wear well over the years.

Purchased the car in Nov 2011 with 37K miles. It currently has 67K miles. It looks and drives great. It consistently gets 34-36 mpg on highway driving at 70mph. The feel and handling are great. Road noise is excessive and TOTALLY unacceptable and it is odd that at EX-L trim level, the car does not have a USB port. I have had zero issues with my Accord. No rattles and squeaks that some complain about. I do have the power steering whine that started about 40K miles., Replaced the evenly worn and still in good shape Michelin with GoodYear Assurance tires. No improvement in road noise. Both paint and interior are wearing well and have no complaints. This Accord is very low maintenance and the maintenance items are inexpensive. I will sell this Accord shortly. I have already bought a 2013 VW Passat SE with 28K miles for its improved road noise, Bluetooth audio and phone, and moving to an automatic.

Don’t plan on keeping this car forever. I was hoping this would be one of those cars that I could put at least 200k or 300k miles on. The truth is that it burns enough oil that I can’t make it to the mileage on the oil change sticker without running out of oil. I had some minor issues with corrosion on my cable that goes from the battery to the alternator. At 149000 miles the car has served me well. I have to sell it now because I don’t think it’s worth $2500+ to replace the motor.

I would never recommend a Honda Accord 2009+. My 2009 Accord LX is at best sub par for Honda. I have had 3 other Honda vehicles and they were all excellent except this one. The rear of the car squeeks terribly while going over bumps. The brakes feel like I am standing on a gym floor while 20 kids dribble basketballs - never had breaks that felt like this ever in any other vehicle. The seats are the most uncomfortable seats I have ever had in a vehicle, lumbar pushes into your back to much, the foam is way to stiff and the side bolsters too narrrow. Car vibrates with ac on at a stop.

After 3 months of driving my Accord I can say, it is the best driving experience I've had so far with sedans. I worked for a car rental company and drove all kinds of cars so I have something to compare to. Many people prefer dial temperature and other controls but I can say that all buttons are very intuitive easy to operate and contribute to a superior and modern interior look. Handling is great, acceleration is excellent, haven't noticed dimming headlights. Lots of leg room. Have absolutely nothing to complain about. I love it!

I bought my 09 Honda Accord sedan because I wanted reliability, and I was willing to pay more up front to avoid the repairs that one expects from less reliable American made cars. When I bought my dealer certified Accord, it had 65000 miles and now it has 165000. During the time I've owned it I have had to replace the rear brakes, the drivers side window control, the entire air conditioning system, and now, the rack and pinion steering. I am bitterly disappointed with this cat and will NOT purchase another Honda.

As you can see from the other reviews this car has reliability issue and the car feels cheap. There's alots of interior road noise along with too much dash board noise. Alots of stuff squeaks and the car seems cheaper than a KIA. BUT THE MAIN REASON I HATE THIS CAR IS BECAUSE IT HAS NOOOOOOO POWER. This is a heavy car and it only has 190 horse power...really?! My 2001 Camry v4 picks up better. This car SUCKS at picking upeverytime I find myself going over 4000rpm thus messing up my MPG!!! DO NOT BUY THIS CAR! look at the MAxima or altima they're better!!!!!!

For this model, Honda reduced the size of the rear brake calipers. As a result, you'll need new rear disc brake pads every 30,000 miles. I still have 70% of the original pads left on the front pads. This issue was subject of a class action suit. After litigating, Honda did not address the problem. You'll be buying lots of rear brake pads with this car. Additionally, the rear brakes don't release the brake dust. It just accumulates on the pads and makes for a nasty grumbling sound when you hit the brakes most days. It's annoying and it contributes to uneven rotor wear. This means more trips to the brake shop. The seats in this car are pretty basic. Fabric covered foam seats that aren't the best for long drives. Okay for short trips - bad for a long road trip. Fuel economy, for such a large car, is pretty good. High 20s for most driving - higher on the highways lower in the city. Winter formulated fuel (here in Chicago) will lower MPG by 3-4 MPG. It's spacious. I've hauled a ton of things in it. visibility is really good My kids won't drive it - it's too much a dad-car. But they did use it to move into college!

I wanted a honda because my second car was a 1990 honda civic is lasted FOREVER. I purchased another car and until we had a flood and a Spanish guy purchased it from her and fixed it. Well, I purchased a 2009 Honda Accord. It has 125,000 miles, but it was OK because Hondas are known to go to 200,000 and over. Well I have been having serious issues with this car. My check engine light keeps coming on, and then it starts flashing, my car starts to stall and will not go over 20-25 mph. I had the spark plugs replaced, a new battery, which Honda said was a bad cell that caused this, a starter, 2 crank shaft sensors, and i refuse to put anything else into this car that I am still making payments on. when I researched this car I never read anything regarding this issue. I wish I had because I would HAVE NEVER purchased this [non-permissible content removed] car. I am so frustrated.

Handles well. Common road noise, VCM and poor seats not a problem for me. Interior laid out very well but have to reach too far for some highly-used buttons (rear defrost and mode button). When raining, seats get wet when you open the door. Navigation, Bluetooth, voice-controls are VERY user-friendly. MPG decent. Great drive on the highway.

Car was ten months; 2900 miles. Three cylinders had to be replaced! Ride very rough as if one were in a truck. The passengers felt every bump. This bumpiness and jostling made it impossible for a ride of any length or distance The car had rattles in it. The dashboard panel was confusing. If one pressed the remote open the door too hard or long, the sun/moon roof opened. An immense annoyance and risk to the interior of the car. Headlights had to be manually turned on Fuel mileage very poor, about twelve miles per gallon. Do not purchase a six cylinder engine of this car. The 2009 Honda Accord is a great disappointment. In sum, do not buy this 2009 Honda Accord

I only signed up to this site to write this review. This car is a big dissapointment. very noisy on inside eco boost is horrible, you constantly feel it going on and off, felt like car was gonna break down, but mechanic and dealer said its normal to feel that eco boost jerking. Seats are very uncomfortable. you can feel every bump in the road. voice activation/recognition is pretty bad. I bought certified used, went back to the dealership in less then 2 months and traded it in. Yes it was that terrible
