Aside from the brakes

At 31,000 miles, my rear brake pads need to be replaced. Most of the miles are the car are highway miles, so this really is unacceptable. The Honda dealer only reluctantly shared the information regarding the class action suit and only after I kept questioning them on why the rear pads were already bad. Aside from this, I really do like the car and enjoy driving it.

Purchased this as my 4th Accord and may not buy another after it. Started out pleased, became disappointed quickly. Brakes have 2 speeds - slow and leave rubber on the road. Seat on this later and higher model adjusts less than my '99 did, not good for a short person. Rear window glass can be wavy, auto-adjust rear mirror doesn't adjust to rising/setting sun and can be blinding. Mileage is also disappointing. Paint is chipping all over the car and Honda has denied any problem.

I have had the car for a year now. Any complaints dealer fixed. No brake problems. Seats are uncomfortable. I bought some sheepskin covers which are real thick and it seem to help. Fluttering noise in air conditioner checked filter etc, road noise is a problem, someone mentioned better tires, dunlaps don't get it.

This is my second Accord and third Honda (I also own a Civic). After a year and five months, I can say that the results are good. It is a very comfortable car, the back seat is huge, ideal for long journeys (my two kids age 13 and 16 don't complain). I can even put two pairs of skis inside the car, no need for expensive add-ons. Reliability up to now has been OK, there is only a small rattle that comes from the right front seat head rest (when there is no one seating). In mi opinion, the seats are comfortable. Road noise could be less, but compared to my 2004 Civic is a huge improvement. I had no problems with brakes or paint, as some other reviews report. 4 Cyl engine is powerful enough.

Few weeks after buying it- I had started to regret it- the exhaust was oily black soot. I took it in to be inspected and they said everything is fine because it passed emissions testing. LOL! Later, when I did casual inspection of the oil level, I noticed that it was dropping- but wasn't certain because I wasn't strict about it. I had attributed it to careless oil change-out. Long story short- I'm undergoing an oil consumption test because it consumed 1.5 qt in 7k mi. Car has 32k mi. I have little faith in them because they showed me Honda's acceptable consumption: 1 qt per 1000 miles. How's that for reliability? You think the car will pass ULEV that it claims drinking that much oil?

Could Do Better

We picked the Honda because it was the least expensive car that gave us all of the features we wanted (standard, good size, leather, sun roof, good gas mileage, etc). I find it was more than a compromise for me and will look longer the next go around. I'm 56 and although my mind likes the idea of a standard, there's a reason 94% of cars nowadays are automatics (smile). I have a squeak in the steering column that annoying and my key fob is failing (all with very little use). The greatest drawback though is that the Accord is a lot noisier at highway speeds than it should be. I have six cars. This is the newest. And the noisiest. That shouldn't be in this day and age.

I purchased the Accord in Nov 2009. I only have 25000 miles on it and I hate the car. The quality really sucks. 1. The passenger door lock is making a squeaking noise. 2. The seatbelt on the rear seat is twisted because it was not installed properly. 3. Driver window has a click the sound like the glass is hitting something. 4. the transmission slammed several times on me when i started the car. 5. The breaks vibrate on high speed. 6. I am just wait for the excessive oil consumption like many people have. 7. Car insurance cost more than my BMW. Very disappointed. Not even comfortable driving the car because I am scare the car is going to crap out way too soon.

Be prepared to have a car that works every time you get in to it. The back seat is just as comfortable as the front seats. Very low maintenance costs. This car will last 20 years if you want to drive it that long! The look of the car is timeless, many cars built today look similar.

I bought this car new in 2009. It has 224,900 miles. I live in the Washington, D.C. Area. I Have driven across country and into Mexico. My daughter when learning to drive filled up the gas tank with diesel gas, which cost me $1500 to clean out. I only get oil changes as the car tells me. It just keeps going.

Great car except for lousy front passenger seat

Bought this new at the end of 08 and it is still a creme puff with 45,000 miles. It is extremely trouble free and i love the way it drives-performance, steering, brakes, etc. Road noise can be an issue with this model but the main complaint i have is with seat comfort-especially the passenger seat. yes, it is a 4-way power seat but that is simply bare minimum. The seat is hard, cushion angles too much in a downward direction at the rear and there is no lumbar support for the passenger. The driver has an adjustable power lumbar. For people with back problems this car is definitely not the answer! I've seen many lack of front seat comfort complaints for this car on line and i know why. Honda could easily add an 8-way passenger power seat for very little money and i would gladly pay for it! otherwise, it's a great car!

Still Love Accords

I have been driving an Accord since 1984 and this is my fourth. The biggest thing that keeps me coming back is the reliability. The car is fairly standard and is wearing well after 120,000 miles, but I don't drive as much as I used to, since COVID-19. In fact, I'm probably only driving it 10 miles per week, on average. I love it because it gets me from point A to point B with no problems -- literally. The only complaint I have is that it now burns one quart of oil every 1,000 miles. Because I don't drive much, this isn't a problem, but this is the first Accord that I've owned that burns oil. And it isn't leaking on my garage floor. The local Honda dealership service is going to conduct a "test", which means following yesterday's oil change, I'll bring it back in 1,000 miles so they can say, "Yep. That's normal burn." Oh, well. I still think Accords are great cars and when it's time to replace this one, I'll probably get another. I highly recommend Accords -- just not mine.

253,000 Miles Owned Since New

Have owned this car since new and put over 250,000 miles on it. This car has been incredibly reliable and the only repairs done are those that come with normal wear and tear. The dependability of these cars is truly exceptional. The interior is impressively well built and is capable of carrying out all the necessary duties that a family sedan must do. It's true that the ride quality and noise insulation is not too impressive, however, that is the least of concerns when you consider all the positives of this vehicle. If you are looking for economical, dependable transportation look no further than a Honda Accord.

Tonight it was extremely slick outside. The cars ahead came to a sudden brake, and long story short I lost control of my car, pumped the brakes, and rear ended a truck. I love my car so much, it kept me safe and the *only* damage I obtained was the imprint of a hitch. The airbags did not deploy and no other body damage even after slamming into a curb.

PROs: - Excellent all around visibility - Very good reliability in Consumer Report's annual readers survey -IIHS Top Safety Pick - Very comfortable, spacious interior, and large trunk - Fun to drive with 5-speed manual transmission which improved both 0-60 acceleration by 0.5 seconds and average fuel economy by 3 mpg in tests by Consumer Reports - I've averaged 26 mpg - Good steering feedback, handling, and ride CONs: - Tire noise and road noise intrude into otherwise quiet cabin - Audio system's ability to group radio stations into folders by type of music is needlessly complex and I never use it

When i was looking for my first car, i was looking at getting something reliable and dependable but somewhat fun. Found a listing on facebook marketplace for $6000 and ended up buying the car for $5800. Somehow the car had only a tiny bit of oil in it and it needed new tires but once those were done the car has been amazing since. Since then I have done an oil change and installed new spark plugs and it runs amazing at 134,000 miles. The V6 engine is a treat to have in an economy car and it performs well on streets and the highway with easy acceleration and is able to hold 100+ mph easily with 0 issues. Gas mileage is pretty decent too. The only problem I have with the car is the road noise insulation is not great but its not bad at all. Stock exhaust system got too quiet for me so last month I got both of the mufflers taken off and pipes welded in place and it sounds great now. Car still runs amazing, would totally recommend.

This is my 2nd Accord and I hate it. I have replaced all 4 door locks, the lumbar control in the drivers seat, Airbag sensors. The seats are so uncomfortable, I cant drive more than 30 minutes without being in pain. I get car sick when I am riding in the passenger seat due to the road noise and feeling every bump. I have NEVER had a problem with my other Accords only this one but overall I am not happy with this purchase at all and I will be trading in ASAP.

Buying a 2009 Accord has been the worst purchase I've made in the last 20 years. Several days after bringing the car home, I started hearing a loud wind noise through the drivers side door when you drove at freeway speeds. After 5 trips to the dealership and having it be in the shop for 2 weeks, I was essentially told, I'd just have to deal with the noise. Wonderful! Then at 2000 miles the brakes have started to make a grinding noise, oh and I've noticed a vibrating sound coming from the dash (which I hit with my hand to stop), not to mention the loud clicking the CD player makes. Essentially this car is a mess, save yourself some money and go buy a Geo Metro.

Bought this in 9/08 and was in the shop constantly. My biggest concern was the oil usage, one qt every 1500 miles. Honda's official response after monitoring its consumption for 3 mo. was "as long as it didn't burn one qt every 1000 miles, it was normal". That's their official response, and that was not coming from the dealer, that was HONDA. Other concerns: one burned out cat converter, (daaa wonder why), 4 tires replaced due to vibration at hwy speeds, never did solve the vibration. 2nd gear syncros not messing without a grind and missed shift. (no it was not my shifting expertise, Honda) I was told by Honda that the oil burning would go away, maybe. Ya, right! I sold this gem 3 mo ago.

We were forced into purchasing another car. We were coming out of a 2000 Nissan Maxima SE which is billed as the "family sports car" and it is. We had all the bells and whistles and we loved that car. New Maxima was out of our price range. Previously had a Honda Accord back in 1986 which we loved, kept it until 212,000 miles so that's why we went back to a Honda. Did lots of research on this purchase and for the money it seemed like we should have been thrilled; we got $6K off the sticker and have had it 5 weeks and put 5200 miles on it. We are getting 36MPG which is fantastic BUT the driver's seat and steering wheel are horribly uncomfortable. Very tough getting used to this car.

My husband talked me into buying this car. The car has great power for a 4 cyl, the interior is real nice. Love the wood trim inside; radio has great sound; the seats are very uncomfortable for leather seats. The passenger seat is not power, which I do not like. After driving Cadillacs for 20 years, my husband wanted something more economical on gas and low maintence. Recently we had spent a lot of money on the Cadillac sedan deville 2001, with only 68,400 miles on it. However I was the main driver of the car and loved it. It drove and rode like a dream. It looked new inside and out. It broke my heart trading it in. Honda accord exl 4 cyl is a great car if u like small cars.

We bought Accord EXL-Navigation 5 months back. We added a few more features, including back up camera and the total cost was 28,0000 dollars. The interior is spacious and airy. The car is fun to drive. However, just within months we notice annoying vibrations with steering wheel, the door handle is tight and giving difficulty to open, the remote only functions near the car. Gas mileage is around 25mpg with mostly highway driving, that to I drive at 55-60mph. In comparison my 2003 Impala V6 cylinder was giving much better mileage than this 09 Accord, 4 cyl!! However, the most annoying fact is the road noise. I am disappointed with the value for money of this car and it is not better than GM car.

This particular year (2009)and model (Accord EX-L V6) have quality issues that have yet to be addressed by Honda, and the sheer frustration is enough to make me never buy another Honda because of these unresolved quality issues with the brakes. I purchased a new car, not some problematic use car... People researching the 2009 Honda Accord should keep this in mind when deciding whether or not to purchase, you have been warned!!!

This is my wife's car and she likes it me, not so much. Performance is very good and the ride is better than most within this size of car but the problems appear with the brakes and engine. Both the 'check engine' and 'brake light' come on and, at times, the engine runs very ruff, almost to the point of stalling; turn the car off, restart and it returns to running normally. The brake light is on most of the time but maybe it's our winters in Wi. The dealer says there is no computer "error" info so they do not know what's going on. It's pretty bad when you are questioning whether you should take this "new" car on a long trip because of this intermittent problem. What happened with Honda?

have had honda's for 28 years yet my new 2009 am not happy. took car in for 15,000 service and was told rear brakes, front wheel drive car, are shot and need to be replaced. front brakes, which take brunt of braking, are fine. 16,000 miles for new pads and rotors???? never had this before. was told honda has had big problems with this last two years. reliable company cheapening car to prop up profits, never thought honda would do this

The car rides well and with a powerful V6 its about as powerful as a FWD can get. Rides well and the interior is comfortable but - suspension is poor and you feel all the bumps. I think the added weight on the EXL model causes this. Also - dumb items like the digital compass broke in Mos #2 and both keys are finicky with opening doors reminds you this is a Honda and not a more expensive car. Overall - sometimes if feels like luxury and other times is feels like its being forced and is oh- so-close.

Piece of junk since day one. The brakes have squeaked. Heard all of the Honda excuses. Entire dashboard has illuminated 3x after a car wash. Warranty covered the first two times and had to pay $50 the third time. Really? For taking it through a car wash. I was told the drying system is too powerful. I'm not kidding. The check engine light has gone on numerous times and the cause of the last one was due to a poor air filter. Paid $115 and drove off the lot. Re-appeared within 5 miles. Told dealer that a mechanic tested it and said it was the oxygen sensors. Dealer says no way. Honda Cus. Svc. told me today it can't be that bad because I had 60K on it. Thanks for caring. Bye
