Ok Car

2009 Honda Accord LX 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

The Accord has a very uncomfortable seat. Actually, it is the worst of any in its class for comfort as I have test driven all the cars in the class. The acceleration is top notch. The transmission shifting is smooth. You have excellent visibility and a nice interior layout. The brakes are by far the worst in the class as evidenced by all the reviews, but most people will not notice this (I did). The build quality is very good, however, the paint job as noted by some others is not top notch. This car has hard springs and a rough ride compared to an Altima, Fusion, Camry or Sonata. For those who like a sporty, fun to drive car, this is a nice car.

Worn out brake pads

I chose to buy my third Accord because of the reliability of the past two. I was extremely shocked to find that I need rear brake pads after only 16,000 miles. My 2002 Accord did not need brakes until 54,000 miles. My driving habits have not changed, mainly highway, over the years. If I would have known that I would be spending $200 every 15,000 or so miles, I would not have purchased this vehicle. Also, another disappointment with this vehicle is the Blue Tooth and nav. system. The microphone does not pick up the pitches and determines it own thinking of what I am saying. It is truely frustrating and therefore I do not use those luxuries that I spent extra money for. Think Twice!

Early brake failure

I am very disappointed at the brake life on this car. At 19,000 miles, driven 70% on interstates, I had to have the front rotors turned and new brake pads installed on rear. Fortunately there is some compensation via the class action suit settled by Honda to offset some expenses. In contrast the 05 Camry I traded for this car had no brake problems and had almost 50% brake pad wear at 70,000 miles. Definitely a design black mark for Honda.

This 2009 Accord EX-L 4 is the fifth Accord we have owned. The one traded in was a 2004 Accord EX-L and it was the best Accord of the previous group. Although I have only had the new one just over a week, it is much more refined than the 2004. Each Accord we have owned has always been more refined than the previous model and the 2009 is no exception. The fit and finish are superb! It drives with a great feel to it... similar to my 1999 BMW. I look forward to many happy miles with this car.

Somewhat disappointed with my Accord

This is my 7th Honda in over 20 years, and I'm the most disappointed with it. The car has some great features, but it's becoming clear that Honda cut corners to keep the costs down. It's a good looking car and is roomy. However, Honda service is not great. Spent too much time at the dealer, and they are always suspicious that it's my fault rather than manufacturing defects. I'm sorry I traded in my 2006 Accord for this one because it was just a better built car without any issues. Honda needs to get back their core basics.

Purchased this as my 4th Accord and may not buy another after it. Started out pleased, became disappointed quickly. Brakes have 2 speeds - slow and leave rubber on the road. Seat on this later and higher model adjusts less than my '99 did, not good for a short person. Rear window glass can be wavy, auto-adjust rear mirror doesn't adjust to rising/setting sun and can be blinding. Mileage is also disappointing. Paint is chipping all over the car and Honda has denied any problem.

I really didn't want to buy a new car; but my '95 Volvo had reached the point where the repairs it needed exceeded it's book value. So... There was no major decision in my purchase; all of the research I'd done came up with the same two answers: Honda or Toyota. I drove a Civic and was appalled. I drove an Accord and was astonished. It handled like a dream. The I-4 motor was powerful, smooth and quiet. The 5- speed gearbox was a joy. Looks, compared with the Camry...no contest. The dark grey metallic paint...Oooh baby! At highway speeds, it will go about 500 miles on a tank of gas. I bought two Accords that day. The 2009 I'm driving now...and the 2019 I'll replace it with.

After Driving an SUV for the past 10 years I decided to go back to a sedan. My wife drives the Odyssey, and she fell in love with Honda, so did I. I looked at the BMW 328xi and thought I would purchase it after the test drive until I drove the Accord. The Accord was 13 thousand dollars less and that was for the top of the line EX-L with navigation. It look fantastic I'm very happy to have two Hondas in the Driveway, especially with 3 kids safety and reliability made the Honda a no brainer.

We have less than 800 miles and noticed that the headlights dim each time that the motor cooling fan kicks on. Honda tells me that this is "normal". Does that mean that ALL 4cyl Hondas have this problem. If I would have known this prior to the sale, I would not have bought the car.

This is my 3rd Accord. Had an 04 & 07, both leases that had navi. I went without navi to save money this time. Definitely miss the leather but got such a good deal, I don't mind because it's another lease. Love the upgraded engine and more room. The seats are a little wider and boxier. But not uncomfortable as others have said. The road noise is the same as the 07. I've test driven the Altima, Camry and Malibu. No car in this class blows me away but the Accord has the most pros than cons. If I could afford to, I would buy an Acura or Infiniti. On highway driving I get about 29 mpg. This car gives you the most for your dollar.

This is my second Accord and third Honda (I also own a Civic). After a year and five months, I can say that the results are good. It is a very comfortable car, the back seat is huge, ideal for long journeys (my two kids age 13 and 16 don't complain). I can even put two pairs of skis inside the car, no need for expensive add-ons. Reliability up to now has been OK, there is only a small rattle that comes from the right front seat head rest (when there is no one seating). In mi opinion, the seats are comfortable. Road noise could be less, but compared to my 2004 Civic is a huge improvement. I had no problems with brakes or paint, as some other reviews report. 4 Cyl engine is powerful enough.

I test-drove many cars, several of which were great (Prius, 2010 Ford Fusion, Camry) but as a confirmed Honda driver, I came back to the 2009 Accord. Love everything, but I have to agree with several other reviewers that the driver's seat is often downright uncomfortable -- I'm a 5'6" female and the seat back hits me in the wrong place, throwing me into a very unnatural position. Putting on the lumbar makes matters worse. I'm hoping the seat softens up and takes on the arm-chair cushiness of my 2006 Accord. Cup holders are still in bad position and dangerous because you have to look down at them to remove a beverage cup. But it's a beauty, decent mileage, drives well, plush, very roomy, mine!

I have had my new Honda accord for 3 months. Everything is Ok, but not as good as I expected. The worse thing is it gives so much noise, especially on the local road. I have visited the service twice already. I had read some reviews, it seems the noise is a common issue for this model of car. The seats are a little too hard for those who do not weigh so much.

Being my 3rd Accord and spending twice as much as my '95, i expected a lot. First, there was the problem with the vibration from the rear deck, then the knee cushion had to be refastened, then the noisy brakes that began around 5K miles. I should have known something was up when the service rep told me to not wait till 15K miles to deal with the brakes. I have 19,203 miles on the car now and was told i must spent $200 for rear brakes because this car is so different (distribute force brake) that it wears the rear brakes first, due to weight in the back!! i am looking at a Chevy, Toyota, Ford or even a previously owned BMW 3 series. Honda Dealers need to be transparent with customers.

I traded in a 2007 civic si 4 door sedan on a new accord. My wife could not drive the 6spd manual and she hated the ride. I must say I am a die hard Honda lover, my past 2 cars were civic's, one an ex manual coupe and most recently the si. The accord is way more family friendly and has better creature comforts but I miss the style and handling of the civic. This car seems enormous to me but maintains tight handling for such a big car. The exterior looks great and the engine seems to have enough pep for a 4 cylinder. I researched the Camry as well, and honestly I think this car is better handling and the interior is built with better quality. It's no civic si but it is still a Honda.

I have 250,000 miles on my 1994 Honda accord. I bought a new silver 4dr 2009 LX in Feb 09, So far I'm pretty happy with the car. I have taken a couple of long trips and there are no issues with the seats to me. The AC is ICE cold and the 4 cyl has enough power for my use. The down side is the cheap plastic doors and dash material, lights flicker at night and the loud road noise. But for under 20Gs I'm very happy with the buy.

What's to like other than the looks? My brakes squeal all the time! The engine does not do well switching from 6cyl to 3cyl. XM Radio still does not work! And cylinder head blew a few months ago. It was fixed but still does not start the first time every time. Honda says it's fine, can't find anything wrong? Best part is the 36,000 mile warranty that is almost up. Selling it soon!

The car is beautifully designed. The workmanship is good. The interior is fresh, not boring, and comfortable. The seats are supportive. The center console is a little busy but not too bad. It handles very well, surprised since the car is 'family car'; but drives like my old 1993 Prelude VTEC. Love it.

My 2009 Honda Accord has only 16,000 miles on it and mostly highway miles. A few weeks ago I started to hear noises coming from the front end. I thought I was dragging metal or something. After a few weeks of hearing these random noises I took to my mechanic and he showed me the rear brake pads, which are completely gone and the front, which are 1/2 gone. I called the dealer and they said that it probably my driving style and this is "normal". I have done a lot of internet research and many are experiencing the same issue. I called American Honda Corp and they told me that there are no know issues and there is nothing they can do either. I now have a "new" car and I have to put out $400

Pros: Ride, Handling, Acceleration and decent fuel economy. Cons: Honda is getting cheap. Front seat material showed signs of wearing out at 6,000 miles. Key fob had problems-dealer fixed. Drivers seat clunks. Dealer says they all do and I have to live with it. It is a design flaw common in all vehicles. But the passenger seat does not clunk so Honda is just getting cheap and doesn't want to fix a known problem with a bad batch of seats that clunk. I feel like the seat back in made of cardboard. My next vehicle may be a Hyundai. Less expensive and better customer service.

Traded in my gas guzzling V8 BMW when fuel prices spiked. I expected better fuel mileage with the 4-cylinder. Only getting about 19-20mpg driving like a grandma. Not the most exciting car but very comfortable leather. I've talked with other 4-cylinder owners who complain about fuel economy. The 4-cyl just isn't beefy enough to pull the weight of this car. Go for the V6 or get a different car.

Car is nice but definitely has a loud engine. I realized that it's more horsepower than some of the other models so that may be why. The steering wheel and seats are not very comfortable but the car itself is very nice looking and has a lot of features. Very disappointed with the amount of noise. When we bought we were told the 4cylinder is as good as the 6 cylinder. That's really not true and I'm sure they have a lot more 4 cylinders to sell. The 6 is a lot quieter.

Wow poor design!! I have had 5 Honda's none had the rear brakes burn out under 20,000 miles. I would not buy another and advise no one else too until Honda owns up and fixes the braking problem. The sqealing the brakes make do not go away after pads are changed In fact my case Manager from Honda America (Terri) was her name said they will do that for the life of my car. I told her that is insane I have never experienced this from honda that they are going down the same road as toyota it sounds like. So be-ware beware If you buy this car expect every 16,000 to 23,000 you will need a brake job...Very dissapointed with Honda :(

Where do I start? There is a surge in vehicle when you drive when it switches back and forth from 6CL to 3CL (which is constantly). The brakes have squeaked from almost day one. My dealership told me 1st I was braking too hard, then I was braking too soft and then it was because of the gravel road I had to drive on to get to my house (about 50 yards). It's funny I never had that problem with my Toyota's. Now they are telling me that Honda acknowledges a problem with the brakes but now we have to wait for a service bulletin to be released. In the meantime I am making a monthly payment on a car that is embarrassing to drive. I will never buy Honda again!!! Oh yea, and the road noise...

It's ok for the family car but don't buy it if you look for a sporty car. This is the "slowest" car in the midsized segment. Specially, the acceleration is the one of worst part in my disappoint. (177 hp, where is it?) Also, I've visited Honda dealership 3 times for one and half years since there have been "annoying" noise in my car. (1st dash board, 2nd driver's door and now rear and passenger seat). I really miss my 03' Civic and it's much worse than before.

This is my 3rd Honda, 1st that I've purchased new and the last. I loved this car when I first purchased and shortly after, I began to hate it. Believe it or not it's excellent on gas. I commute back and forth to work for a week on a full tank. After six months I had to change the back brakes, which the dealership considers normal. NOT! Shortly after, I was still having issues and they replaced an axle. Five more months have passed and I replaced them again. The stirring wheel also shakes when braking. I HATE THIS CAR and would not advise this to any first time buyer or any buyer for that matter. I'm currently searching for something else.

The accord always starts even after I've let it sit for ages. The problem is that I let it sit for ages because the thing is so darned uncomfortable to drive. The head restraints are miserable, they push my head forward and cause intense neck pain, while the lumbar support just makes my legs go numb from putting so much pressure on my back. I sincerely regret the purchase of the accord. Seriously, I chose to ride my bike on a 20 mile commute nearly every day this winter in snow and sub- zero temperatures because that was more comfortable than the seats in the accord.

I used to have a Saturn Vue and it was a junk box. I love my accord. I cannot complain except for the drivers seat, a little uncomfortable. I love how the design looks like a BMW 3 series. Honda did a great job in the redesign and making a car affordable with the looks. I hope to keep his one until it dies.

Unfortunately, my first Honda will be my last. The right front brakes have squeaked since day one. The rear brakes have experienced premature wear and will soon need replacing. Driver side leather seat is very uncomfortable after 10-15 minutes of driving. Gas mileage is worse than advertised (I average 23 mpg). Honda America has no resolution to date for any of these problems. Additionally, my passenger side door was dinged a month ago and paint has already begun to chip. All in all, I deeply regret having bought this car and am continually disappointed with Honda America's problem-solving capabilities or lack thereof.

The front seats are simply the most uncomfortable I've ever experienced. The lumbar plates that are part of the 'active head restraints' are the primary culprit but even with them removed the seats are still awful. I'm seriously considering trading this in after 5 months and 4,000 miles. Beyond this, it's a fairly solid car. But the fuel economy is disappointing. I'm only averaging 22-23 MPG with about 70% highway driving. At any rate, no matter how good the rest of the car is, you can't wait to get out of it at the end of every trip longer then 15 minutes, so what good is it.

I initially had every intention of buying an 09 Civic. I test drove the Accord and fell in love with it. For three thousand more than the Civic it is a no brainer. I love it.

I originally went to the dealer just to check out the Honda Civic and since I was looking for a car that would cost me less in gas. I test drove the Honda Civic and I parked it next to the Honda Accord. I asked the salesman if I could also test drive the Accord. Well, I did and it was a grand ride. I was thoroughly impressed. This car is a keeper. I just love it. When I walk out to it and get in, I am so happy. The handling, the comfort, the radio controls on the steering wheel are superb. I called one of my good friends to tell her the call I had purchased an Accord and she had purchased the same car in a different color just a week earlier and she loves it too.

So far, so good. I purchased my '09 Accord EX V-6 in March of 2009. So far I have put 4000 miles on the car and have been very happy with it. This was the first "car" I have purchased in over 10 years. I have been driving gas guzzling SUV's for the last 11 years, and this car reminded me how fun it is to drive again. It is a visually stunning car and has been turning heads since the day I got it. The interior controls are laid out well, but they definitely took a little getting used to. It handles beautifully and the transmission is very smooth. I'm 6'2 & 205 lbs, and I think the car is very comfortable, the seats are average, but not a reason to pass over this car.

I Have a 91 CamryDX V6 with 412700 miles WOW!!That is a car, only regular service,so i decided to buy another toyota but did not liked. So I went and I purchased an ACCORD EXL 4cl. On my first fill up I drove 590 miles and the car took 17gallons of gas,of course I drove it at 55 mph for the first 3000 mies,so i am happy. The only problem I see is the Engine noise but I fixed That by changing from 87 to 93 octane and now the car is more responsive and quieter.Transmission is good and what I like is that I can shift manual just like my Camry.Only time will tell about reliability,Considering I commute 39,000 miles a year,90% Hyway driving. I do have a noise on the rear breaks.

Rear brake problem

I purchased the car less than a year ago. I had the dealer do an oil change last week and was told that the rear brake pads are close to wearing out. I only have 26K miles, most of it highway driving. After a lot of questioning a mechanic told me that this is a problem with all of the 2008 and 2009 Accords. However when you talk to the so called service advisers they try to shift the blame on the way I drive the vehicle. I have done some research on the Internet and find 100s of similar complaints. Is there some way to force Honda to admit they made an engineering mistake and issue a recall?

Pain in the Neck

This car for me is a study in contradictions. I very enjoy the car's aesthetic and performance characteristics, but driving the car is a literal pain in the neck (and back) because of driver's seat and head restrain design. I have tried for over a year to "dial in" the multiple seating and head restraint configurations to something approaching comfortable, but no luck. Perhaps at 6'4" and 212 lbs I am too big for the car. Anyhow, the car is now for sale.

This my second Honda Accord and so far I love the car but hate the brakes. After one day and 75 miles the steering wheel developed a very bad shudder when braking! I called the service manager and he said to drive the car at least 1000 miles before I bring it in? I am now at 950 miles with an appointment for next week. The steering wheel shudder is still present on moderate and above braking. I hope they can fix this!

Seats are very, very, very uncomfortable. I drove it on a 300 mile trip, would rather have bicycled. Door handles do not operate smoothly. Competition has more features for the same price, or less. Honda customer service is not the best either. If testing this vehicle carefully compare this car's seats to your present car. This is my second Honda won't be a third, except for a lawn mower.

We purchased two 2009 Accords, one for my wife and one for my daughter. Both are now having rear brake issues. Not sure why American Honda won't stand up and do the right thing like a recall. They waited until the American public filed suite.
