This car is definitely one I'd buy all over again. I have hardly put any money into it since buying it 5.5 years ago. It had 95,000 miles when I bought it and now has over 180,000 miles on it. Other than several suspension work, it's had zero maintenance. Worth your money! 35 mpg helps too! (On trips)

Best car I've ever owned!

Traded in a 00' Pontiac Grand Prix GTP with 139k miles (List of problems too long) for my high school dream car,a black Accord that had 148k miles on it and I haven't looked back! Love my car! Gas mileage is phenomenal compared to what I had, car runs smooth with no issues. I have owned the car 5 months and currently have 161k. I need to put brakes and tires on it but that of course is routine and it could use a serpentine belt. The only out of norm things would be the seat belt sensor (covered by Honda warranty still! Thanks Honda!) and now it has a bad air/fuel ratio sensor (O2 sensor) but nothing that negatively impacts the way it drives. Five stars all around! Great job Honda!

This is the first car I ever bought brand new. I wanted to wait a year or so before I posted a review and wow does time fly! Seven years later I am proud to say I still own this car and it will hit 232,000 miles on my drive to work tomorrow. This has been an incredibly reliable car. Outside of the usual maintenance such as tires, oil changes and brakes, I have replaced nothing more than batteries (think I have bought two) and light bulbs...literally. With that said, I'm awful on cars. I change the oil about every 10,000 miles & have never done 'scheduled maintenance' (dealership stuff). Still has original timing chain & clutch. As a commuter, this has been the best car I could have bought!

Best car I've ever owned

I got my Honda as a replacement for my 2003 Pontiac grand prix (which was a piece of crap). I bought my Honda with 167,000 miles on it and it currently has 219,000 on it. It has been a wonderful car and I cannot rave enough about it. I've only had to do minor maintenance on it and it's been worth every penny I've spent. Not only does it drive smooth and work great but it has character, it's not like driving a run of the mill mid-priced sedan, it's fun to drive and definitely has pep to it even with it being 13 years old. My next car is definitely going to be a Honda and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a car.

I love this car. I've had it for 7 years and it's my 3rd Accord. It's the newest car I've ever owned so that does affect my perspective. However, this car is still so nice. It's amazing to me that at 11 years old, it still feels brand new. It drives amazing, has had great fuel economy, and looks great. I still get between 19-21mpg in town and 31 on the highway. I never guessed an 11 year old car could still get 30 miles to the gallon. The paint job has held up well compared to my previous accords. The only thing that had to be changed was the throttle body when the gear shift stuck. Other than that, it has been so cheap to maintain. I have put hardly any money into this car and it runs like a champ. I started with 86k miles and now have 212,000 with no problems. I would buy this car over again in a heartbeat. I hope when it dies, the new Accords are still made as well as this one.

Best For The Money Bar None

I shopped around and drove a hard bargain. Bought my '05 Accord between Christmas and New Years of '08 which I've read is a slow time for dealers and a good time to buy. Got a nice clean EX 4 cyl with 38,000 miles on it for $12,800. Was easily the most car I could find for a 100 mile radius for under my $15,000 limit. I now have 120k miles on it. Only maintenance besides brake pads, rotors, fluids and filters is replacing a squeaking serpintine belt and a burnt out brake light. Easlily the best car I have ever owned. A dog with 4 people and luggage but does fine with 1-2 adults. This is my second Accord. I drive the old one to work and with 262k miles still a good driving decent car!

For the money the Accord EX-L 4 cyl is one of if not the best used car out there. Legendary dependability. Good on gas. Comfortable nice driving cars. Parts are cheap and easy to get. Cars are easy to work on. Bought mine with 38k miles. I do all the maintenance myself. The only thing I have had to fix with this car is the serpintine belt on the engine started to squeak at 100k so I replaced it. You can classify that as regular maintenance BTW. Car has 132k miles now and I need to adjust the valves since they starting ticking more than usual from a cold start. It's an easy job requiring no parts, just labor. 05, 06 & 07 Accord EX-L 4 cyls have to be the best used car period!

Purchased car new, now has 111,000mi w/no problems. It has plenty of room, as much if not more than a SUV & very comfortable for long travel w/plenty of leg room in front seats or back. We had twins after we bought the car & it fits both car seats w/a small amount of room for someone in the middle. When our family doubled I thought we would buy something bigger & safer but quickly found out we had already purchased the car that fits everything x2, and a safe car. It's a smooth ride & very quite w/great handling. We travel once a month to see our family about 130mi away. I've never gotten out of this car & felt like I'd been driving for 2hrs. I would only sell this car for another Honda!

I got the V6 this time and am amazed that a 3.0 L performs this well. It's a little sluggish in the handling dept but I was not expecting an S2000. I thought the brakes were extremely touchy until I changed them to a different compound. In fact, the only real complaint I have is that this car is very difficult to drive smoothly. Touch the accelerator too hard and it launches, whipping heads back. Breathe on the brake pedal and heads are lurching forward. And the steering has little feel to it, its too easy. I get 29 - 31 mpg on the hwy and about 25 in the city which, from reading other reviews, is pretty good. I have never had a lick of problem with this car and am very satisfied.

I owned my 2005 Honda Accord for a year and put about 20,000 miles down. I never had any major isssues just small ones. Basically, the 2005-2007 Accords are probably the best value cars you can buy. They have timing chains, so that’s one thing less you have to worry about, and they’re very reliable, if proper care is taken. Some of the bad, the front brakes are notoriously bad. Do not buy cheap front brakes or pads, buy high quality parts, like EBC. These motors are also notorious for burning oil. Be sure to check the oil often. Overall, it’s a great car for anyone and I highly recommend it.

Bought this car new in 2005 for my wife as a gift since she liked the car. This mistake I made was purchasing black color with V6 instead of 4cyl. Wife drove the car for the first 12 years combination city hwy. Pro: 1) comfortable and I like the interior lay out very useful and well thought. 2) Like the driving position and how it handles on the road. You feel more engaged with the road driving a Honda in contrast to Toyota. 3) Has good power to overtake others on the fwy 4) handles well. Cons: 1) engine cylinder went out at 15821 camshaft piston rings and intake valve were defective dealer replaced. 2) passenger seat front leather and Back bench seat leather had to be replaced by dealer 20562. Dealer closer to home didnot want to change and manger said take it to the dealer you bought it from (Miller Honda in Cali.) the dealership closer to home was sold thrice before going out of business :-). 3) AC unit went out at 73863k 4) transmission rebuilt at 63769. Honda did not offer to rebuild Honda of America said we don’t have enough complaints on 2005 models but we do on 2004. Transmission rebuilt by a mechanic friend and now the car has 189698 miles and transmission is going out again. At least it lasted over 100k with rebuild transmission. 5) paint is a joke started to peel around 63k dealer said that is because of the hot so cal weather. 6) window actuator replaced twice once under warrant second outside warranty period. 7) Radio stopped working and cycles every present channel throughout the day. Finally I died at 179k (still cycles but no visuals on screen) 8) MPG 15 city 26 hwy. dealer said the advertised MPG is an estimate and will vary based on you driving method. To be off by 10 miles is ridiculous. Hwy I good. 9) No USP outfit to charge phone. 10) alternator replaced at 103179 11) throttle position sensor needs replacing as well as O2 sensor. Why I am writing this after 15 years later. I just sold it for 1350 so the car holds its value well even after all the issues. Disclosed everything to the buyer and he said he will work on it with his son so he can gain some experience working on cars. Bought a Lexus for my wife.

Purchased new. I am the only driver. Original Michelin tires replaced at 40,000 with Bridgestone Potenza a 50,000 rated Z tire, which I got 70,000 from. Replaced them with Bridgestone Turanza Serenty H rated. I rotate every 15,000 and filled with nitrogen. Replaced factory brake pads only at 70,000. Made mistake using aftermarket pads which yielded on 40,000. Replaced those pads only with Honda pads original rotors without cutting. Replaced spark plugs at 130,000. Replaced starter at 160,000. Replaced catalytic converter at 180,000 with a junkyard 2006 model crash with 30,000 on it. At 210,000 front Brembo rotors, rear rotors, Honda pads, 2 O2 sensor, MAF sensor, RF axle, control arm bushing

Rubbish transmission and poor quality

Don’t believe all of the hype on Accord V6. Poor quality of paint as it scratches if you blow of it. Worse transmission I have ever had, out at 99000k on 80% fwy driving. Dealer put a new one that went out at 94000. Horrible in town gas mileage Lucky if you get 17. Cheap leather cracker within 2 years Radio stopped working at 140000. AC condenser out around 73000. Door actuator out around 100000. Engine valve out at 23000, radiator out at 80K, starter replaced twice. The only thing I like is the driving capability for a sedan. Recalls on 2003 and 2004 Transmission It Honda does not believe it affected 2005 and they are the same model from 2004. If you decide to purchase an Accord make sure it is not the V6.

I have now owned my Accord for 6 1/2 years. This was my first Honda and because of its value and reliability I have also purchased an Odyssey. My Accord doesn't have a "look at me" appearance but it has been trouble free for 53,000 miles. It gets 26 mpg in mixed driving and once got me 37.1 mpg on a 320 mile trip with the cruise set at 70 mph. I will definitely consider another one when I hand this one off to my nine year old when he gets his drivers license.

I purchased this car about 2.5 years ago with about 97K on it. It appeared to be highway miles and I believed in Honda quality so I purchased it. Extremely reliable and has had nothing but general maintenance done...I even skimp on this and the car is working great. It now has 160K. After reading other reviews, Im thinking I will just keep it until it needs a new engine or something so major. Only issue I have currently is a rusty squeak/grind from the lower steering column and under the body when I stop from moving and take off. Ive taken it to the shop twice and they cant find anything wrong, so I will just keep driving....

I commute 180 miles a day round trip, since 10/05 this car has been reliable and not let me down at all. For the cost of the car, it is a great buy. Following Honda's maintenance guide, 3000 mile oil changes are NOT necessary, the book shows 9000 miles for normal use, 6000 miles for extreme conditions. This is the first foreign car I've owned for quite some time, with my daily drive, it wont be my last. This car performs well on the highway and in the city.

...get this car! Bought this car used in 2008 when it had 39,000 miles. Now has 78,000 and going strong. Have purchased new tires and then just oil and gas since. The Accord is just a great solid, safe, reliable car. If that excites you, then you're golden! It's not the most exciting car to look at, and it's not all that fun to drive, but you turn the key and it starts and you get to where you want to be...that makes for a great car in my opinion. It has decent power too which is nice. There's no reason we can't drive this car to 200,000 miles or more. UPDATE: Still generally a great car, but I decided eventually that I didn't like sedans and so I sold this car in 2017 and got a Kia Soul. Some things to note -- The 2005 Accord is a very big sedan. It is longer than my 2011 CRV, and it was not super easy to fit it into the garage, and then it leaves little room to walk around it (depending on the size of your garage and what you have in it). This year Accord also has a design flaw that allows road debris to damage the air conditioning condenser. This happened to my Accord. So, not really all that fun. So, at this point, although a reliable car in most ways, I would not buy it again if I know now what I did then.

I bought this car used with 180k on it, I now have just under 250k miles on it and I have only had to 3 things, for a total of ~65 USD. I replaced the hood support struts that keep the hood up (both, although I probably could have just done one, for about 20 dollars each), the gas cap (the o-ring goes bad after about 15 years lol), and a tiny little o-ring on the power steering pump that cost me about 1.95 USD. All these fixes I did myself, the power steering required YouTube. Such an easy car to work on.

Purchased an '05 Accord EX w/Leather in 10/04 from Performance Honda in Fairfield OH. By 11/04 the windshield began making noises. Tried twice to get this fixed and failed both times. Called Honda Care to complain about the car (not the dealer). With Honda Care involvement, the service manager decided to make it personal and the situation got ugly. Honda walked away from their responsibility and I lost a dealer I had been using for 15 years. Windshield still makes noises and the problem is spreading throughout the interior. The rear window, passenger side molding, driver's door window, etc., etc., all pop, creak and snap. All-in-all a most frustrating and unpleasant experience.

My wife and I were seeking something to drive together (comfortably) on longer trips. After looking around a little we found the Accord. This car has been amazing. A nice, smooth and quiet ride in a reliable vehicle is what we were looking for and is what we got. We used to dread packing things into the old car in order to take a day trip. Now we look forward to it.

I purchased my Honda Accord new and have been the only owner. The car now has about 108,000 miles on it and I haven't had any major issues. The only problem that just developed is that my rear passenger side door locked and I cannot get it unlocked. I will have to take it in to the dealership for this. I have it serviced regularly and could not ask for a better vehicle! Buying a Honda was a great choice. I will be giving mine to my son in four years and expect it to last him through his last few years of high school and through college!

Considering that this is my favorite car owned to date, Tenth on my list. I love to drive her daily. Second on my list is 2003 Nissan Maxima SE that was totaled prior to purchasing the Accord as a daily driver but it has out-performed everything else I have driven, I know first hand the weakness of Honda' and addressed them after purchasing the car new, Brembo Sport rotors combined with Ceramic Pads makes the brakes grab when needed, coilovers and a thicker sway bar make her handle like a dream on tight turns and Bridgestone Potenzas hold her glued to the pavement. I am a true driver that takes hold of all of Honda technology, no complaints after five years.

I bought this car new in Oct 2004, fell in love with the pickup and go she had. It has been the cheapest car to maintain, all routine maintenance and only 1 major repair thus far, a thousand dollar a/c compressor clutch a couple of years back. My youngest son just got this car as I got my new Honda HRV 3 weeks ago!

As a lifelong Honda customer I nerve thought I would have to write this review but considering my situation I have to do this. This past September, the check engine light code came on. I went to the dealer and the same service adviser mentioned it will cost me another $90 if it is a different code. The same code P1009 (VTC actuator Fail). The Service adviser said to me, “ Sir your car is burning oil inside the engine. You are going to need a new engine for $2500.” I was so shocked, I could say anything. After a few minutes I asked to speak with the manager. He mentioned to me “ Unfortunately, some engine do fail like this”. According to the technician who work

Leather interior of a very poor quality ..too thin ..already strikes of white show on black leather...there is already a dealership recall for the transmission...a bad blind spot that makes it very unsafe and uneasy whenever you back-up. Also, not very comfortable for passengers (especially in the back) during long trips. We were expecting a lot more from Honda...this one is not worthed the money we spent. Too expensive for what it is, especially if you do more than 10000 a year. Very disapointing!!

I love my car, I purchased it in 1/07 certified. The only problem I have had is with the power steering pump. Being certified Tempe Honda has taken care of all concerns. I love the size and trunk space. I am not a fan of the style.

I've had 2005 EX V6 for over 3 years now and have decided to hang onto it for a few more years, because I think the new body style is ugly! Right before the warranty expired, the whole transmission needed to be replaced. Challenging myself to get the highest MPG's I could, I recently achieved over 37 MPG's on a trip on the highway, never exceeding 65 mph and being very gentle on the accelerator. Can't beat that for efficiency! Other than the transmssion, I've had no problems with the car, so I'm hanging onto it. Compared to American sedans I drive at work, the steering and suspension feel "alive" and connected to me.

This is the greatest car. I had never owned a Honda before, and feel like I now have one of the best cars in its class. My gas mileage is much higher than estimated, and the 4 cylinder has all the power I need, with smooth gear changing, great comfort. I have seen reviews complaining of road noise, but I don't notice it. In fact, my car seems amazingly quiet on the road. I listen to CD's with ease, unhinderred by supposed road noise. In addition, I am not nearly as tired after a trip. I feel this is truly a quality car and I am pleased to own a Honda Accord.

I purchased this car new in Oct. '04, love it! I've had it 4 years now and have had no mechanical problems other than having to replace a battery terminal, brakes twice, and working on my 2nd set of tires. No pause on acceleration, awesome zip. Ultra comfortable interior. Stereo is great. I will definitely be looking for a new Honda next year as I pass my down to the next child in line.

I purchased my 2005 Honda Accord LX 5 months ago at 159k miles. It was in good condition, minor outside damage. I was satisfied with the car. Until I noticed the great amount of gas usage. I keep my car fully maintained, oil change, tire rotation & the gas mileage still is HORRIBLE! After two months the radio light came on & off, now its not coming on AT ALL!( alot of reviews say the same thing) Has the power to get up and go overall GOOD car ! Cruise control has a malfunction as well as a HORRIBLE stereo system.

Have owned 3 previous Hondas going back to 1981. The 2005 LX is nothing fancy in terms of features, but we weren't looking for lots of glitz with this car. It's quiet, the VTEC 4 has plenty of pop, you can easily hit 70 on the on ramp. We've been getting 27mpg, mix of city and highway. Seats are comfortable, layout of interior and storage locations are nice and make sense. Trunk space is more than you'd expect looking at the exterior.

Onto my second 7th generation Honda Accord, my first being a 2004 Honda Accord EX 4cyl, now bought a 2005 LX sedan 4cyl, comparatively the LX is basically the same exact car minus the sunroof and steering wheel controls, plus the LX has 15 inch steelies and the EX had the much more attractive 16 inch alloys, honestly, I could care less for the EX anymore, it's just more money and possibly more problems as I remember the EX had to have the weatherstripping periodically fixed on the sunroof, which just became a hassle each time I wanted to use it (fixed myself repeatedly with a screwdriver re-aligning the weatherstripping), the LX is reliable, currently holding at 173k and as usual, it looks sporty, but it's slow on take off, boring on long rides, and unimpressive in the fuel economy department, but it is visually appealing compared to a Toyota Camry of the same year, still both cars are undeniably reliable, just wish they both had better take off and were a little more driver oriented. My only real complaint is that the suspension (which has been replaced because every bump was unforgiving, is still... unforgiving) nothing has helped the horrible ride on even the smallest bumps and I'm running general RT43 tires, which aren't the best by any means on this car. I can say though that the accord is WAY better in the snow than my old 2002 Honda Civic EX which was almost scary and I pride myself on my abilities in snow, I recommend using Goodyear Ultra-grip tires and it transforms the Accord into a tank in the snow, I love the front end appearance of the car and love how it looks fast but it's frankly not.

I bought the new from the dealer but did not buy extended warranty since I bought the Honda. The power steering was replaced at 30K miles and now the automatic transmission needs to be replaced at 45K miles. The dealer quoted $4000 for new transmission. Fuel Pump relay was replaced as part of the recall. This has been a real disappointment and this is my last Honda ever.

This car has 115000 miles on it, 16 years old still running strong. The five speed transmission shifts like a dream and the engine are both smooth and somewhat powerful with 160 horsepower. The car is very practical, the trunk is big, and the rear-seat legroom is very generous. The design outside is somewhat bland, but the interior is full of high-quality materials and is both useful and luxurious. Everything still works great, on the level of luxury as a BMW or Mercedes. Used as a work vehicle, I haven't even been taking super good care of it. It is way overdue for an oil change but still runs like brand new.

Gas Mileage Stinks

Right from the start the gas mileage has been terrible. Around Orlando, we average 17 mpg. The dealer tested it for 48.5 miles, a combination of city and highway and got 19.4 mpg. Honda of America said this is normal/acceptable. We believe it is the transmission. The transmission shifts somewhat roughly and drags when we take a foot off the gas at slower speeds. We reported the problem to Honda's customer service center. So far, we are totally disappointed with the gas mileage this car is getting. We think we are in for a hassle, based on Honda's initial response.

My husband and I bought a Honda Accord Hybrid at the end of July . We had a pleasant experience with the dealer, althought he was the fifth dealer we had gone to in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The first problem I noticed about the car was the motor shield was hanging loose from under the car. We had to have that replaced at our expense. The next problem we had was the front bumper was cracked and we are having that replaced at our expense. We have babied this car and the car stays in the garage. The car has never been in a wreck. The Honda body shops seem to be aware of this problem. The Honda Corporation has been extremely rude and and unhelpful. This is a major flaw.

I can't believe I bought this thing. It's rather bland styling turns me off, I feel like I was sold a bill of goods... It seems very reliable, but once I've driven it for roughly 1,500 miles, I wish I'd have not completed this purchase. You guys rate the seats a maximum score on comfort...my rear tells me different. The outside is bland...plain, boring. I still can't believe I listened to my salesman. Kudos to him, he SOLD me.

I have over 3,000 miles on the car. Very dependable car even though I've had 1 problem so far; the rear driver side door latch locked with the door open and the door wont close (taking it to the dealer later today). Excellent family car. Excellent mileage, over 32 mpg highway with ac and 70 mph. There is a rather large blind spot to due to the roof pillar.

Paid $17988.00 including destination. Enjoying a comfortable ride. ABS is good, but not excellent. Transmission is as smooth as they come. The highway ride is an A. Cornering could be a bit better. For every day performance I would rate this 4cyl.a # 9 Handled well in rain storm. This car is worth considering, noise is not an issue. Wish me luck. I am counting on Honda's reputation!

We bought this car as a traveling vehicle. It far exceeds the mileage ratings. We get from 30 to over 38 on the highway. We have been diagonally across the US, and back. The power of the four engine is amazing. It is comfortable and quiet on the highway. Incidentally, I don't slow for the hills, and most of our driving is at 75 mph speeds, and in a lot of elevation changes. I like the looks, but admit I like the taillight treatment of the 06 and later Accord. I also love the look of the instrument array.

Bought this Accord to replace a BMW 325...really don't miss the BMW. As a former '95 Accord driver, I was wary of the auto shift quality, but the new 5-speed is a huge improvement. 4-cyl power is great, if you think you need a V6, you're probably wrong. (V6 would be nice on long freeway upgrades, that's about it). Handling is decent, definitely not sharp like the BMW, but the tires are made for mileage, not grip. Brakes are so-so, an area Honda could definitely address next time around. Amazing seats, almost as good as Volvos I've ridden in, and that's saying something. Only regret is I wish I'd shelled out for the EX with Leather...this car is actually worth the splurge...

I had purchased the 05 Accord Lx because my 96 civic EX was a great car. The car overall is great, but the manufacturer could have made the radio reception better and had a better quality control. For example, the inner roof top needs to be glued and the dash was not seated right. Minor to its overall perfomance and looks. Dealership did not emphasize how the car does not need an oil change until 10,000 miles per normal wear. Instead, they gimmick deals on maintenance for every 3700 and other unnecessary maintenance. As mentioned earlier, I had a car in great shape for over 120,000 with proper maintance.
