Used 1999 Honda Accord Consumer Reviews
Not so good
This car has horrible brakes. Third set of pads in 65,000 miles. Soft pedal. Mater cyclinder replaced twice. Still soft. Electrical system with lots of problems. Bought this car because of Honda reputation. This will be my last Honda.
great reliable suprisingly quiet car
this car has been very reliable. timing belt was the only major service done since 60K miles. It is quiet and nice with the right tires on it.
Surprised by Honda
I loved the look of this car when it first appeared back in 1998. I finally bought a pre-owned Accord, a 1999 model, this last year in 2001. I've gotta say, the car looks great in and out (I get compliments often from friends), BUT I've never owned a car with so many rattles. The dash, glove box, and back shelf rattle to no end-- I've attempted the dealer repair route and got nowhere. THEN, the car began stalling: this is an automatic. After FOUR trips to an independent repair shop, they were able to narrow down the cause. It was a lease-return with low miles, so I was not expecting to encounter problems.
Great car!
Love my car, have had it now for 6 years. Only improvement I would make would be to increase space in the back seat!
Driving Ms. Honda
I bought my '99 Accord EX 5-speed new and have changed the oil every 3K miles and kept up with other routine maintenance. When I did my maintenance I only used Honda parts and found everthing to last tremendously longer than the OEMs. Second set of front brakes lasted 70K, back 77K. This was my second Accord...some thief liked my '96. This car is worth every penny I and the insurance company paid...I currently have nearly 100K miles and I still get awesome gas mileage...29 city/36 highway...better than the guesstimate from Honda. Oh yea...every once in a while I think about getting rid of it but then I get in it and am reminded why I love it. And at $3.00/gallon, the mileage can't be beat
