Can't kill it
Bought it w/22 K on it, average 35 K per yr. Now has 190,000. Hoping for 250,000. Unbelievably reliable - oil change every 3,500, brakes, alternator, timing belt @75 K and 1 clutch. Goes anywhere and excellent mileage - still about 35 mpg. Tight ride.
PRISM LSI
BEEN AN EXCELLANT CAR, FEW MINOR PROBLEMS OVER THE YEARS, JUST HAD TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR, AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE STARTER ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO. BATTERY ONLY LASTED 2AND1/2 YEARS 3RD DELCO BATTERY IN A ROW THAT DIDN'T LAST LONG, SHAME ON DELCO. OTHER THAN THAT IT HAS BEEN AN EXCELLANT CAR AND HOPE TO GET ANOTHER THREE YEARS OUT OF IT.
Keeping It In the Family
I bought the car in 2/2001 for my 16- year-old daughter. It had 125K on it at the time. The only repair I have made was to replace the alternator (this occurred shortly after I bought it). Now at 150K, it is being handed down to my younger daughter who recently turned 16. The car has survived Ohio weather for 11 years and now will be spending its "old age" (I think these cars age slower than most...it's got to be that Toyota reliability factor) in South Carolina. It still looks and runs great, and my daughter can't wait to put a CD player in it!
My Mini-Lexus
Great little car. It was the first "new" car I ever bought with 52K miles on it. I've put 68K on it since the purchase. The handling, creature comforts and overall performance has been outstanding. Negatively speaking, I did have to replace a master cylinder twice, at 65K and 112K, and at 115K the starter and alternator both went out within 2 months of each other, so I decided to have the timing belt replaced when the alternator was replaced. The repair costs were not very expensive. All in all, I am very pleased with this car and plan on driving it for a few more years.
True Love
Love the pep, the ease of handling, the smooth shifting, the look of the body. I'm sick over this car getting old enough that it might have to be replaced! Can't even feel the engine when it's idling, and that at 187K. Needing a new clutch and one exhaust pipe; after replacing part of one gas line last year due to rust. . . My dream is to find another out there, standard shift, of 94-97 vintage. What a fabulous car. Bought it at 24K, loved every day of driving it.
