Used 1996 Geo Metro Consumer Reviews
Drove 'em for 26 years.
First one was a brand new 1996, and had several others. Only thing that prevented them from exceeding 250,000 miles was rust, mostly front end. All still ran great when I junked them. My mechanic saw them only a handful of times. I calculated money saved in fuel savings only, compared to if I'd driven vehicles that had gotten 28 mpg. I'd saved $64,000 in the 26 years I drove them. Great cars to drive in snow too!

Could be better
My experience with this car has been poor. We burned up a transmition a week after we got it. As far as fuel- it kicks butt.

My Geo
My Geo Metro is fun and a good car to drive if you have a low budget like I do.
No care that is more reliable
I bought this car brand new in 96, I drove this car 45 miles to work and back every day for years. The car logged over 260,000 miles before I gave it to my son. I even rolled the car on its side in a ditch and never had to do any major repaors other than body work. The engine and trans worked like they did they day I bought even after 260,000 miles. Amazing, great gas milage, great reliabilty, great car. If you can find one of these cars that have been taken care of I would recomend it.
