My friend purchased this model a few months before me. I loved it so much, I went out and bought one. This has been the best car I have owned. For the money, it's hard to beat. Quality, durability, and it's fun! Total in almost 6 years of owning for all/any repairs: $350.00. Minor work done. Just now had to change brakes. Other than oil changes no up keep!

Some win some lose

When buying a used car, or any car, some people get good ones some get bad. I know several people who are happy with their mustang (v6) and don't have any problems. I however had problems. The exhaust manifolds went bad twice, but were covered under warranty. After the warranty expired, at about 45,000 miles the transmission started slipping when you tried to accelerate hard, and the valves started to make noise. The dealership told me that the valve problem is common with the V6. It cost around $500 to fix. The top did make some noise around 48,000 miles but it was an easy fix.

Mustang vs Z28

A 97 Z28 and I had to painstakingly part. A few years later I ran into this used Mustang for a good price and bought it since I was dying to get back into a sports car. The Z had a little more power and cornered a little tighter, but rode a LOT rougher and was a LOT noisier. The Mustang is fun to drive, I prefer it over the Z. It even has true dual exhausts! (The Z has duals coming out of the muffler).

I have owned this car for a little over 4 years, and have not had any major problems with it. Of course, the oxygen sensors have needed to be replaced, but doesn't every car have that problem? Periodically, my odometer displays turns off, but this is just a minor problem...if even a problem at all. Yesterday, it wouldn't start, so I will need to replace either the battery or the starter. Now this is no big deal, considering the car is paid for, and this is the only problem that I have ever had. Over all, excellent car and I would buy another.
