Used 2017 Ford Focus Hatchback Consumer Reviews
Long time Ford purchasers.....not anymore!!!
Prior to purchasing the car, I was told by the General Manager that Ford had fixed the transmission issues starting with the 2017 model. So I purchased the 2017 Ford Focus in the summer of 2017. I have driven it 6,600 miles since that time. Got in it the other day (with my "gear head" other half), and when accelerating up a hill, it started shuddering and I heard a little grind in it. He immediately said "your transmission is slipping". I took the car to the dealership and dropped it off, but received a phone call the next day stating that their "transmission" person was not available until the following Monday. I picked the car up and returned it for service on Monday. I received a phone call from the dealership stating there was shuddering and little noise, but that Ford considers it "within tolerance". I was told that the transmission functions like a manual transmission. I told the Service Manager that I had a manual transmission prior to this car and it never acted like that. I asked the Service Manager if he could recommend another dealership that I could take the car to for a second opinion. He could not and stated that he preferred me to utilize the current dealership. I told him that I would be contacting Ford Warranty. I also told him that I can see this problem only getting worse. He said that they get this car (year and make) in there all of the time with the same issues. Again, Ford thinks this is okay. They sure didn't fix the transmission issues that they had with previous models. I have been a Ford buyer for 40 years, but after this incident, I do believe I am finished with Fords. Very disappointed......new car with virtually no miles and it runs worse than a 15 year old vehicle. Unacceptable in book!!!!

I LOVE MINE!!!
This is a beautiful car I just bought from Lithia last week. It only had one previous owner and 18,017 miles on it. It has been well taken care of. The body is beautiful and sleek. The interior is sporty and modern with many upscale features. It is quiet and runs very smooth. I am so lucky I found this gem. Ford is a wonderful choice and I would definitely recommend this car.

2017 Focus SEL Hatchback
Good car for the money. Working with the dealership was as expected, shady at times. Ended up getting the car for $16060 total including tax and all, out the door price. Good luck.

This transmission is horrible
I bought mine with 14 miles on it. Had the transmission services 2 times before 100k miles. Now at 130k miles transmission is going out again, $6000 to replace it on with zero help from ford. They know these have transmission issues and yet still sell them. If anyone has any suggestions how to get out of this car please let me know. I still owe 13k

Sporty and looks nice, but that's about it.
Like so many others, I am also plagued by the shuttering transmission. I bought the car with 30 k miles on it, by 47,000 I had to take it into ford to have the clutch replaced. I'm now at less than a year, and 13,000 miles on the new clutch and it's doing the SAME thing! I'm 1000 miles over the warranty and am out of luck because of it. My local dealer is no help, the guys at ford have all been terribly rude to deal with. My experience with this car, and the people that work for the company has made me never want to own another ford in my life. Save yourself time and money, DONT purchase this piece of junk.
