Explorer is an excellent choice as an SUV for general use or towing. Silver color and remote start excellent options in the bright New Mexico sun. Comfort good in driving across country or driving through the mountains. Have had no maintenance issues in 30k miles driven. I would like one change from Ford. Offer an option without the third seat which is useless to me and extra deadweight to carry. I removed the seat, which is tedious and built a platform (there are good instructions online). Still overall a great vehicle to purchase.

It has been almost three years I have had this vehicle. I have towed trailers, done some mild off-roading, taken road trips, and pretty much everything else with this thing. Right now I mostly commute to school with this. The Gas mileage isn't great. Since I got the car, I've averaged about 17 MPG. Lately, I've been around 15 MPG. Interior is nice, and it puts up with camping. Exterior components still looking good. I had a small transmission leak over a year ago. Ford fixed it fast. Probably from towing. I have put the trans through its paces. It's pretty quick off the line. Lots of people are confused when I beat them from the light. Handling is awesome for an SUV. I really love how smooth it is and the turning radius is better than most cars. It's just under powered. The EcoBoost V6 is definitely what I need, but I can't afford those models. Ford should make it available for all models. I'm trading this base model in for the XLT. Reasons: Need side mirror turn signals, need reverse sensors, need fog lights, and maybe a couple more bells and whistles. I kinda wanted to keep it. I think it's a great vehicle. I will eventually get rid of my next one and just buy either an Expedition or an F-150. There is not a huge difference in gas mileage, and I need more towing capability. If you don't tow anything, and your commute to work isn't long, I think this is a great car for anyone. Ford did a good job. Oh, the basic SYNC system is kinda screwy. Nothing big, but the connectivity is a little spotty. Oh well.
