I bought this car with over 100,000 miles and it has not had any major problems. In the past year I replaced a bad thermostat ($7), a inside door handle ($12), and recently an air idle control sollonoid is going out ($104). The fuel economy is my biggest annoyance, at 15 mpg for most short trips around the area. But, it also has gotten a little over 20 mpg on some longer freeway trips. Overall, it's not a bad vehicle. Also very sure-footed in snow in 4x4 mode.

Depreciation vs. Work Horse

One of the best cars I have ever owned, it now has 129,000+ miles but has had better reliability than any Nissan I have ever owned. The cost becomes enormous if you don't keep them a really long time and I get bored quickly. The resale value goes to the dogs every time I buy a Ford vehicle just because of the name of it.

Only had my Limited 3 days, but cannot say enough about the quality. Bought it with 93000 miles. Still runs and sounds new! NO Rattles, squeeks, etc. like you would expect. Overall GREAT!!

I bought my Explorer in March of 99 when it was 4 yrs. old. Didn't have any problems up until about 2 yrs ago and since then I've had my share. I have had two of the same problems with the clutch that required a part be replaced. The 2nd time it happened just over a year apart (12 mos and a week) and the warranty was for a year. Also had a problem where the car just wouldn't not start, then miraculosly started working after having to get towed to the shop on 2 different occassions. So I'm just waiting for the next thing to break.
