Get the Diesel
I bought this car because i was driving a lot in dangerous traffic and wanted to be able to tow my camper. Since then i have taken all sorts of stuff in this car. With the diesel engine it has great pick-up and i get 18mpg average with 20 on the highway. turbo whine gives me that big truck feeling and lots of passing power. The 4wd drive feature is weak especially when you are still supposed to get out to lock the hub for serious off roading
Two excursion owner
We have owned numerous suv's & you show me something better I will buy it. Don't even try the suburban game, my wife and I made that mistake. Our suburban with the 8.1L only got 9 mpg. Our Excursions with the V10 gets 11.6 in the city. Buy a hybrid if you can't afford the gas.

2002 EXCURSION LIMITED
I pull a 25 foot Airstream with my Ex. Acceleration and braking are excellent while towing. I like the idea of sitting up high and over-looking the traffic ahead. The overall ride is very good and the extra room inside my rig is great. This SUV is not for everyone, but it is perfect for my family.
MOM NEEDED MORE ROOM
This the best suv I have ever driven. Love the Excursion, would definitly buy another. We are a family of 5 and all are tall. Has the most enormous amount of space and leg room. Traveling is great again... Wouldn't buy any other
