Used 2018 Ford Escape Titanium 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 6A) Consumer Reviews
Lots of Homework!!
My wife and I took a long time before deciding to buy the Escape. We looked at everything from Honda CRV, Nissan Rogue, Mazda, Chevy Equinox and the Escape Titanium was what she liked. Easy for her to get in and out of the vehicle, very important! Can see all around through the windows even though it has the backup camera, and the style and looks of it just were better in our judgement than the others. the four cylinder with the twin turbos it will move, which where we live traffic wise was important to her to have great acceleration to merge with moving traffic. And mileage is right where the sticker and all the reading I read is where we are. No long trips yet! It has all the safety features she wanted, she is very happy with the vehicle. March 5, 2019 Update review on 2018 Ford Escape Titanium. Vehicle has 7700 miles on it since purchased in July of last year. Still very pleased with the vehicle, performs like we thought it would. gas mileage city driving has actually been better than quoted on the window sticker. A few longer highway trips with it. Handles and rides very well. Again the 2.0 lt four cylinder with the twin turbos, very peppy and smooth. I am an old school car guy and driven V-8’s mostly all my life but this engine in this vehicle performs very well. recommend for people to look at when looking for a new SUV of this size. Update, 3-5-2020, vehicle is still performing as expected, continues to take care of what my wife and I decided when we bought this vehicle. September 5, 2020 have had the Escape for a little over two years now, has 25,000 miles on it, with the Covid mileage driven dropped for several months, working from home. My wife still loves the vehicle she enjoys driving it, mileage is still good, and when I get my chance to drive it , still performs well! September 8, 2022. Vehicle has almost 49,000 miles just had its scheduled service still driving well gas mileage has gotten 1 or two miles better I have noticed. Get regular letters from local dealers who want a very clean used car low mileage and want us to upgrade to a new one. My wife is not quite ready to do that A new Escape we would consider again!

One Huge Regret
I am a 71 y o male taking care of two developmentally disabled people. I am on the large side 6'2"and 275 lbs. This Escape is easy to get in and out of for me and my two clients. Surprising amount of cargo room. The driver has everything within easy reach and logically located. It handles like a dream whether in a tight parking lot or on the highway. Living in Colorado at high altitude is no problem for the four cylinder turbo engine. It is quick, damn quick. The transmission is so smooth it almost feels like a single speed. The fuel economy is great with 24 mpg around town and 29 mpg on the highway. I am a cautious driver but when there is need to accelerate the feeling is exhilarating. Started out using premium fuel, then mid-grade and now regular. Fuel economy and thrill of driving feels the same with all three grades of fuel. Visibility, comfort, technology and dependability are all superior. My ONE HUGE REGRET is that I should have bought one sooner.

2018 Ford Escape Titanium 4WD rocks!
This is my second Escape. I chose it for the 4WD, 19” wheel option and the Safe and Smart package. It is very responsive, fun to drive, extremely comfortable and quiet, and all of the technology works perfectly and is useful. Rear seat leg room is a little tight with the front seats in their most rearward position. Cargo space is adequate with rear seats up; excellent with seats folded down. I like the styling inside and out. Headlights offer very good vision and the automatic feature is useful when on the highway at night. Start/stop technology works perfectly although I often disable it when faced with many traffic lights. Sync3 is very responsive including voice commands. Syncing my iPhone took just seconds. The sound system is excellent. An added plus is the WiFi hotspot, which is excellent as well. Driver and passenger seats have multiple power adjustments including lumbar support...very effective at finding a comfortable position which is easily changed. I especially like the adaptive cruise control and collision warning systems. Rear cross traffic alerts are very helpful when backing out from a blind spot. This is a vehicle I would purchase again.

The compact SUV with more S
With the 2.0 litre turbo this car scoots and can tow 3500#. The handling is terrific with minimal lean in turns and it doesn't plow. The ride is firm, can bob on concrete highways, but very well controlled. It is a bit narrower than comparable SUVs, which makes it terrific for getting down narrow urban streets and it is easy to park. Going over mountains at almost 9000 feet fully laden is a piece of cake. The paddle shifters are handy for slowing down and it's nice to control trans when in slippery conditions, though the paddles really ought to be mounted on the steering column and not on the wheel. The Sony premium system is loud, but is boomy and disappointing for balanced clarity. The Ford Sync nav, as in other cars, is worthless as nothing beats Google maps/ directions for ease of use. Android auto works easily and perfectly. The controls take a bit of getting used as they are scattered and like most cars, too many buttons, too much junk on the steering wheel. Perfect height for getting in and out--don't have to climb up or scoot down. Rr seats recline, which passengers like. Needs more tie downs in rear storage. Very pleased overall in spite of flaws as power and handling and towing capability were top priorities. As of Mar 01 with 63000 miles I've had zero issues and car performs very well. Update: At 72,000 noted occasional misfires on engine start, which settled down within a few seconds. At 75,000 check engine came on. Coolant was seeping into #2 cylinder and had to replace the entire engine--there is no other fix. Ford has known about this problem with its 2.0 turbo for a long time and did nothing to rectify. There are at least 2 class action suits over this. Will NEVER buy another Ford. Shame cause the car is otherwise quite good.

From Honda to Ford
I am a Honda owner. I have a 05 CR-V EX & recently sold my 09 Odyssey EX-L. I have rented Toyota Rav4, Mazda CX-5, Subaru Forester. I was very impressed with Forester on big island of Hawaii. It was agile & excellent visibility & impressive fuel economy. Draw back is its thin sheet metal. problematic boxer engine head gaskets & piston slap. The 2018 Forester rented in Hawaii seemingly was void of these engine issues, but was new with less than 2000 miles on it. I sold my Honda Odyssey because it was a pain around town. Engine tried & true 3.5V-6 244 hp. driving the odyssey was like riding on a cloud. power when needed there. but at 10 years old & 90k miles it was time to part ways. We of course went to Honda & drove the CR-V LX with reliable 2.4 none turbo. The 2019 CR-V is big and felt clumsy. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Ride was as expected but handling lacking in driver input. My old 05 CR-V is more engaging the the 2018 CR-V. I think it has to do with the growth of the CR-V. I even drove an HR-V. interior quality fair. Honda seems to be resting on its laurels. I drove a rent Mazda CX-5 for 4 days in Tucson. Very impressed. It was however the Grand Touring. the infotainment system was a pain to learn and often confusing, but power and safety features greatly appreciated in Tucson to Tombstone. Fuel economy impressive @32mpg front wheel drive only. Toyota RAV4 is again like the Honda CR-V, does everything well but nothing outstanding. Again a tried and true reliable engine, great back storage if a bit cave like in black. Mazda was also black. What is with all the black interiors? They get hot, show dirt & dust are bland & apparently cheap to produce. I am looking forward to testing the new Rav4. I then tested a slightly used Ford Escape. WOW. Ford? who knew? I had ruled Ford out. TGFI does not have a stelar history of reliability, yet there are millions on the road. This Ford Escape has 2.0L-4. 240 hp. though it is AWD, it is agile with excellent ride and responsive handling. Quite ride was a nice surprise and was up there with the Mazda CX-5. This was the Titanium model so came well equipped. minus the sun roof. I don't know manufactures fascination with sun roofs. Open them and wind noise makes it impossible to hear. with age they often leak wind and water or worse get stuck open & they are not cheap to make. In Cold climates a sunroof is moot because 90% of the time they remain closed. & if you just want a window in the roof you must deal with sun glare. This escape was beige leather interior which is easy to keep clean. heated seats, no sun roof, suburb handling & excellent ride. not soft and cushy but takes road imperfections very well. My big complaint is lack of cubbies for small items. The Escape cup holders become a cell phone holder. If money was not an issue I would have considered the Mazda CX-5. Mazda storage is less than the Escapes & has not the numbers of the Ford dealerships and service availability. But Mazda like Ford has really stepped up its quality and products. I have yet to drive the new 2020 Ford Escape which like the Honda and Toyota has grown in size to accommodate larger Americans. Subaru has to fix its thin sheet metal problem. I spoke with a fellow who dented the hood waxing his new outback. Ford Escape blew me away. It is fun to drive and with 3 engines available can be made to suit most everyone. Glad I made the switch to Ford as I move driving this Escape.
