We looked at a variety of smaller SUV's... downsizing from an 11 year old Tahoe Z71. We waited for the Ford Edge 2016 to gain the Sync 3 and Drivers Assist package. The Sync 3 is very easy to navigate. My son has a 2015 Explorer Sport with the Ford Touch and it's not near as user friendly. I must admit it was a bit unnerving the first time I started to change lanes on the freeway WITHOUT turning on my turn signal and then have the steering nudge me back into my own lane. Now I remember to use the signal. LOL. The Edge is an extremely quiet ride and the interior is nicely appointed with soft surfaces everywhere. We got a Pearl White Titanium AWD with all the options with the Ceramic interior. We special ordered the Edge and it was well worth the wait. Update: We had a "common" problem with the new "Adaptive Steering". It was a pain... dealer or Ford initially couldn't figure it out. Once they did... no problems. Been over a year and 10,000 miles and it is still fun to drive. Update: 10/3/18 - We are still very pleased with our Edge. The interior shows almost no wear and the vehicle runs as smooth as the day we bought it. My favorite option? The Adaptive Cruise Control. It is especially nice on trips to Las Vegas and Arizona. Update: 10/4/19 - Still loving our Edge. Whether going to the market, visiting family 40 miles away or 400 miles away, the Edge runs smooth as silk. We have had no issues with any of the operating systems (just updated the Navagation - easy) or the mechanicals. Other than scheduled service and a recent new set of tires... no other out of pocket expenses. And when washed, our Edge still looks brand new.

Major manufacturing defects

I have happily owned my 2016 Ford Edge Titanium 4WD since March 2017 when I bought it directly from the dealership with 7 miles on it. It should be noted that I was in a wreck and totaled my used 2015 Ford Edge Titanium after only owning for a year.. I loved it enough to buy the exact same car again (but in a different color at least). I had minor issues with the first Edge, tail lights holding condensation inside, a weather strip that would not stay on by the sun roof that would fly off in the car wash, but nothing like the problems I've had with my 2016 Edge. I am taking now for the second time with a year for MAJOR engine work at ~80k miles. The first occasion was after vicious rumbling that $300 work of work couldn't solve. After throwing a new serpentine belt tensioner at it, I was told it was within the engine and needed to go back to Ford. Turns out it was a cracked flywheel. 3 weeks in the shop and over $2k of work later and it's fixed..... for a bit. Now 8 months later and after $600 worth of engine tune up I'm told it has to be returned to the dealership yet again. This time for a TBD cracked cylinder or blown head gasket. My car continues to get the error "misfire on the first cyclinder". I have loved my Edge inside and out but it seems Ford can't get the most important piece correct -the engine. If I wasn't upside down in it between trade in value and remaining car loan I'd get rid of this thing in a heart beat and leave Ford in the dust. If you're determined to buy Ford -BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I'm proof that you WILL need it. Thanks for the lemon Ford. I'll continue trying to make lemonade out of my 2 year old car for the next few years until I can off load this hunk of expense JUNK.

Had 07 mkx, 10 edge, 13 escape, this is the best by far. Great ride, quiet with excellent handling. Good gas mileage, avg. 22.5 overall up to 30 highway. This our travel car when we go away. Towing a motorcycle trailer is easy with gas mileage around 19-20. can't think of another vehicle of this type I would want.

All well except a lot of wind noise at highway speeds, a clicking noise somewhere while driving. Well rounded suv. Hard to beat in that price range.

Do not buy a Ford Edge! I purchased a brand new 2016 titanium. I have had really used cars with less trouble and maintenance cost. First thing- The battery went out quickly. I replaced it. The next thing- TSB, cracked flex plate. Who knew this was a thing, besides Ford? If you are out of warranty they don't want to fix it even though they know it is a manufacturing issue. It can cost 6-10k to fix depending on how much damage was done. Luckily- I was in warranty. However, it didn't stop the dealership from giving me the run around. They still charged a $150 diagnostics fee even though the quick lube guy said exactly what it was and he wasn't going to touch the car until it went to the service department. It took six weeks to fix. My car has been out of the shop for the flex plate issue for approximately six weeks. I now have 64k miles on it. The did not put the skid plate back on correctly, missing and mismatched bolts. That is hanging loose. On top of that, I now have a rubbing, bumping something when I reverse. I am waiting for the dealership to come back with the issue, the fix and the prices. Overall, this is a really horrible car under the hood. It looks good. The technology is nice. However, unless you are a Ford mechanic don't do it.
