Love This Car
When we decided to buy a new car we had time on our side. It took 2 months to test drive 15 different makes and models. We would not let the dealers trap us & they willingly worked with us. We made it clear that we were just shopping. We choose the Edge because it did not feel cheap. Love the cars looks both inside and out. The ford touch was a little hard at first but we have not had any problems since we have gotten use to it. Once we decided to buy. We found 2 cars 30 miles apart and worked the dealers against each other over the phone. We had our deal in less than 1 hour and paid with our own financing. It was easy and fun shopping. Updated on 11-29-16. The rear view camera works most of the time. The dealer cost is $738, not worth the cost to fix. 5-31-17 Just did my first repairs on the car since new. Replaced front brakes and tires. We considered replacing the car, but decided to keep as we are still very happy with it. I also had it detailed. It still feels like a new car! Updated 12-3-18 I can hear funny sound in the front end and need to have it looked at with 130,000 miles on it. The camera is still not fixed, we just put up with it. Question in my head? would this be going on if it were a Toyota? 6-6-19 We put new struts and brakes on our car and it is running great. we went out and looked at new cars and thought about buying something else. We have decided to keep our Ford Edge another few years. The interior is in like new condition and we do enjoy the car. 6-15-20 We are still happy with our car and plan to keep it so at least another year.

The Edge
I'm not sure how long it has been since Edmunds, or for that matter, Consumer Reports, has used the MyFord Touch with navigation because they are incorrect about its reliability. I have been using it, maybe I just follow instructions better, and have absolutely no issues with the system. The car drives and rides like a dream. I'm also confused about the slow to respond review of the transmission. I haven't noticed that either. Great car!

Nice overall car, but ford has several issues...
Overall this could have been a pretty nice car, but Fords build quality and lack of fixing their known problems and lack of holding their value make this a vehicle and probably manufacturer to avoid. The ride is fairly smooth, the cabin is quiet and comfortable, the engine has plenty of power even for a crossover that is a bit overweight like this one. The my ford touch is a bit of a problem, could have been made much simpler, and the transmission is a little rough shifting at times. The awd is better than not having any, but it will never have the ability of some of its competitors like Subaru, Audi, or even Toyota, just not nearly as capable. Brake booster, abs sensor, hard drive, and door sensor issues so far, all common problems with this car, but ford refuses to acknowledge half of them.

Why all of the Negative Reviews in the Press?
I don't understand why the automotive press dislikes the Edge so much.. Consumer Reports complains about an unrefined engine and transmission a jittery ride, road noise and poor reliability. I've had my Edge for 6 months and 7500 miles and have had no problems at all. The engine and transmission operate smoothly, it is quiet on the highway, and I love the ride. It is on the firm side but the vehicle handles like a car despite its high center of gravity. It is stable in cross winds unlike a Saturn Vue we owned. My Edge DOES NOT HAVE the My Ford Touch system. It has the My Ford system with buttons, dials, and switches and I love it.
car is great
I bought my 2013 edge used at 70,000 I immediately had Ford change all the fluids. I did have two minor problems which I was able to fix myself 1. The canister purge valve which cost $50 at autozone and about 10 min of my time Ford wanted $80 for diagnosis and $150 for repair and 2. The annoying door ajar issue I fixed this by buying a $7 can of electronics spray for moving parts and sprayed it into the the door latch mechanism again Ford wanted $80 for diagnosis and $300 for repair. I haven't had the issue come up again and its been five months. Other than that I love the car mine came without sync which I didn't mind. I average about 23-25 city and 28-30 hwy I love the car.
