One of Ford's Best Engines

Incredible engine; 4.6 2v; one of Ford's best! Car is nice and heavy and can still climb a mountain highway, in the snow. The car itself is almost 25yrs old and may be one of the greatest purchases I've ever made. Great car; built like a tank. Tthe engine has somewhere between 250,000 (if rebuilt) -450,000+ (if original) miles on it. Insurance and parts are super cheap and maintenance (for the most part), is super easy!

Well i bought my Crown Vic last summer and have bagged it to its limits aka ramped it, lots of drifting and gravel drifting, racing where it has hit the rev limiter countless times. The only thing that I have had to do to is change the tires a couple of times, an oil change and changed the brakes. These cars are awesome. The only bad thing is that the body will fall apart before the engine does. Mine has 280k km on it and still goes on road trips and is reliable!

Bought it used at 14,000 miles for $3500. It used to belong to an old lady who only took it out for short drives, but it was well maintained - no major problems ever. Very comfortable and spacious. Moved myself and all my belongings from Seattle to NYC (the trunk is huge!). Bonus: it looks like a cop car, so people get out of your way all the time. (It's only annoying when they get paranoid and drive extra slow thinking you're about to pull them over.)

This car rides nicer than any other car I have ever owned including other Crown Victoria's. Nice body style this year. I like it better than the bigger boxy type styles.

Bought used with 80,000 miles! I was hesitant about buying it with such mileage on it, but all I needed was a comfortable car to drive to work. I was pleasantly surprised by the car's refinement, ride comfort and low noise levels. Not a bad car for fuel economy, either, as it consistently averages 25-mpg! That's impressive for such a large and heavy car.

Great Daily Driver for the Money

Everything I had hoped for and more. This car replaced my 94 Grand Prix that I bought new. New struts for Grand Prix=$650.New shocks for Crown Vic=$150.No problems with engine or trans. Its alot easier to maintain the crown vic. I've only had to put new tires and brakes on in the last 50K miles.Boughtwith 38K for $5000-what a value. Car is great for taking the family places.Getting onto the freeway is effortless and I like the torquey feel of the V8 when taking off from lights.Spent a few extra dollars on aquatred tires-recommend.Better handling and stability on the freeway and they are 90kmi tires.

Bought this car with 103k miles on it. Had it thoroughly serviced and tuned up by my brother a Ford master tech. Plugs, wires a sensor and some vacuum hoses. I also had the transmission fluid flushed to correct a minor shudder in the torque converter. Has been a great car, 20-22 MPG around town, 27-28 on trips. Trunk is huge, will hold more than my minivan on trips. I upgraded the shocks and added a Posi rear-end. The car is a good balance between handling and comfort. I now have 157k miles on the car and plan on keeping it

3 years with a $600 Touring Sedan

I bought this car for $600 from the original owners. I drove the car daily for a year straight, culminating in 1400 mile round trip from Tampa Bay to N. Carolina and back. The much firmer suspension, which is a bit stiff around town, was right at home on the highway. The car was stable and solid on the highway. The Ford also returned an average of 24.8 mpg on that trip. Upon returning home, I had problems with the rear air suspension and parked it for awhile. I have since converted to conventional springs in back. I still drive the car occasionally, and have no plans to sell it. One of the most nimble and athletic American sedans in its day, it still holds its own 13 years later.

UPDATE January 2024: This car is STILL running strong and is an EXCELLENT winter car. So far replaced the muffler (it rusted off and was VERY loud), starter, starter solenoid and fuel filter. Also flushed the transmission and replaced the rear-diff gear oil when doing an oil change (I use AMSOIL) with substantial results. Last summer I had enough confidence to drive this almost 2,000 miles to Colorado and back on a 1-week road trip and it did SUPER with no issues and maintaining 75mph and averaging 25mpg’s (through the Black Hills). Only issues currently are sometimes the transmission column doesn’t seat properly so it’ll fail to start (reseat the column in Park and it starts), the rear windows not working and outside drivers door handle being inop. I intend to fix the door over the summer and continue to drive this until passing it on to my daughter as a 1st vehicle. Original Review: Ole "Vickie" has been in our family for nearly 4 years now. Purchased for $1200 and requiring only a tune-up and some key replacement parts to keep her mobile. The 4.6 2v has been ROCK solid. Quietly humming along after a tune-up and giving us 40k miles of trouble free operation, requiring only a belt tensioner and vacuum hose since we purchased. Everything outside cruise control still works on the inside with minimal wear from the 150k miles in 30 years she's got on her. SUPER comfy... like sitting on your grandparents ugly old couch that just sucks you in, there's no good reason to get rid of her as she just keeps putting out quiet, reliable mileage with minimal repairs. Since bought I've replaced the following: Belts, Rotors, Wheel Bearings, Brakes, Tensioner and some bushings. That's it.... I did find a set of 07' Mustang wheels/tires that I put on with some spacers to make the ride a little more firm but that's an optional upgrade along with the LED bulb replacement throughout the vehicle. MPG's are exactly what you'd expect from a car of this caliber. Averaging around 17-19 with highway only going upwards of 25-27mpg's with premium gas (ethanol not recommended for these engines). again this car is QUIET... quieter than nearly everything else I've driven and with everything still being operational this this is amazing with it's maroon velure interior. Kids love going for rides in it and it fits EVERYTHING in the trunk... grocery shopping for a family of 5 is NO problem for the cavernous trunk. Only bad thing I can say... no cupholders... that's it... If you get the chance to buy one in decent shape, please waste no time and you'll never be disappointed in anything outside of gas mileage.

Our Crown Vic has been an exceptional vehicle. We bought the car in 1995 with 40k miles for only $10,700. The car has been very reliable and the only money (other than routine maintenance) that has gone into the car was for broken power windows (they made the motor housing out of plastic!).

This car is the tall mans ride. By adding a "true" dual exhaust this ride pushes 2002 Mustangs out of the way, and w/3 friends and their luggage. The cop car look clears highway lanes for miles on a clear day!

I bought this car in 2000 with 48K miles for $7200. At over 6' tall, I needed the room the Crown Vic offers. With the fueled-injected v-8, it has plenty of power when needed. The car has 114K miles now and still runs great. Only mechanical work has been 2 headlight switches and a starter. Also the usual brakes and tires. This is my second Crown Vic and when it's time, will be replaced by another.

Good old Vic

The reason that I bought a Crown Victoria is that my in-laws have owned two in the last 20 years. My father in- law swore by them for their performance and comfort. I also have learned what the cars are like over the years and have come to appreciate them for what they are; comfortable family sedans with a little performance built into them from the factory. They do have a few quirks, like the transmission having to be flushed every 40,000 or so miles. Also the loss of traction in the winter due to the rear wheel drive and quick throttle response. Other than that I think they are very well built cars that still have a full frame under the body. 4 wheel disk brakes rule.
