Everything is falling apart
I have owned this car for about two years. I got it at about 80k miles. I drove it from Ohio to California. I am at 126k now and aside from a few recalls everything has turned out ok. At this point though, everything is falling apart. The gas door won't open, then vents don't work, and the cup holder sucks.
My Ford Contour
I have a '95 Ford Contour with 201,000 miles on it. Just discontinued driving it because it was trying to run hot with the AC on and I decided not to put any more money into it. Never had any major problems with it, just lots of minor ones. Sometimes the car was a royal pain, let me standing by the side of the road more than one time but once everything short of the engine & transmission was replaced, it seemed to get better. Lots of recalls on this car. Even though I got all the goody out of this one, I wouldn't buy another one.
A nightmare brought to life!
What would possess a manufacturer to produce such a lousy car??? To elaborate........ THE DOWN SIDES: No tilt steering (WHY?); cup holders that only accomodate a 12oz can of pop or a small size coffee; manual seat slide lever is placed next to the center console, while the seat tilt lever is on the door side (very difficult to adjust without being seated); Gas compartment that cannot be opened from the outside, and seldom from the release lever on the inside (release latch sticks, leaving no way to fill your tank) ON THE UP SIDE: Has a peppy 2.5l DOHC engine (VERY responsive); has 78,000 miles now, and we are in the process of replacing it.
A lot of fan, I love it.
I have owned my contour for about 2 years, and it has 69k miles, now it have 90K and I never have any problem. It needed + market. The design is from England. That is the reason whay is a "diferent Ford".
Best College Car
I brought my Ford Contour in 1999 and still have it in 2002. I have only had one minor problem with it and that occured when the "Check Engine" light came on. For the entire four years, I only paid 400$ in repairs for this car. It is still in excellent condition and remains a great reliable vehicle. I recommend this car to anyone out there. Good luck in your search!
