There are quirks to this car. But when you consider what your getting for the money, they're easy to deal with. Lesser models will get bad reviews, but the SVT is truly a great car. It was really great when it was built and it still holds up well against new cars today.

My experience over the 10 years that I owned my SVT was very positive. In 115,000 miles the only repair costs that I had was the water pump needed to be replaced and the radio wiring needed to be repaired, both of which were under $750.00 combined. Otherwise, this was a very reliable car that was a kick to drive! Almost all the miles I put on it were city driving (stop/start/potholes,etc..) and the engine was as good the day I sold it as it was the day I test drove it at the Ford dealership. I just bought a 2008 Ford Taurus and I will buy another Ford when it comes time to move onto the next. I have several friends with foreign cars that had a lot more trouble than I ever did with my Contour

Well after the dash warped and the dealership tried to charge us $700 to repair it knowing there was a recall, the car basically self destructed over time. Here's what happened: tranny replaced 3 times by Ford and Amco w/in 10K miles- Ford tech admits there are weaknesses about the tranny (cost: $5,800 +/-). Leaky trunk, feable brakes, cheapish interior, very poor paint, moisture in headlight assem., body panels poorly fixed to vehicle, and strange "courting call" from intake when warming up. Leather fades in sun, bushings replaced at 55K miles and bumped sags.

i've had the car since it was brand new never had a problem i didn't cause (clutch/4 sets of tires). this car is fast and fun.it has beat plenty of cars that people think are fast.people think gt mustangs are fast, i've beat so many mustangs it's sad. i've gone head 2 head with M3's(95-99) S4's,svt cobras.CLK'S(which my mom owns and could'nt believe she got beat by a 6cyl ford.i had a man in a vette ask what was under the hood he was shocked when i told him.people might not believe me but my svt does 0-60 in 5.7 sec.1/4 mile in 14.3 thats fast for a 6cyl with about 220 horses (intake,chip,pulleys&susp.work 17 inch wheels 225/45 tires.

My heart breaks for this car because it is truly fun to drive. I've put Borla exhaust on it with chrome tips and custom built cold air intake. It sounds great at low and high RPM. The turning capability is sensational, very responsive. Plus, it rides smooth at high speeds. But, almost everything that can go wrong on a car went wrong on this car. Most unrelieble car ever mad in fact. Since ive owned this car the linkage cable snapped when downshifting, the clutch went at about 15,000, the ant motor went, trunk leaks, O2 sensor replace numerous times, the highlights fogged up, radio turns on and off randomly, water pump dead, terrible gas mileage and most likely the worst AC unit ever replace 5X
