Ford Aspire...Aspiring to be a Real Car
I have had my Ford Aspire (Teal Rocket) for about 3 years now and I must admit that even though I do believe it is the SLOWEST car on the road, it is my favorite car. Its Small and convienient, and still gets the job done. But I have just learned that of my four cylinders, two have next to no compression, I think it is due to working the engine so hard. =)
Little lump of lead.
I had one for 2 years and was terribly disappointed with it. Same engine and trans casing as '88-'89 Mercury Tracer, just less displacement. No. Under-engineered and a dog. Trans shifted like garbage and the poor little engine had to have the accelerator be mashed like .a tromped on toad frog to even get out of its own way. Almost no sound insulation and cheap, rattly heat shields on the exhaust mad it impossible to use the stereo at any speed over 35mph. And for being lighter, less well equipped and smaller displacement than my '88 Tracer, it got worse gas mileage, I also had trouble with stability in snow. More than once, while driving straight ahead at 30 mph in snow, the car suddenly decided to swap ends. Not fun doing 360s in traffic on a 5 lane. Nope. Ford Aspire never reaches the aspiration of being a real car, IMO.
a best buy

Long may you run
I bought my 95 Aspire in 1997 with 11,000 original miles on it. It wasn't fancy but it had a lot more room than I expected. The greatest thing about it was it allways ran. It got me thru blizzards, hail storms and city traffic. My son just texted me a picture of the aspire before he took it to the UPULLIT lot. I felt like I was losing a friend. Long may you run-long may you run!

I love my Aspire
I love my Aspire. It was the first and only new car that I ever bought. It has never not started and gotten me to work. I drive 60 miles a day just for work so gas mileage is important. I have had to do only basic maintenance (brakes, tires). My car has 134000 miles on it now and I haven't had a payment in 5 years. I love this car. My only complaint is that for a small car it has relatively expensive tires. Also, if you tune up your Aspire, I recommend that you seal your distributor cap with electrical tape.
