Used 1999 Dodge Neon Consumer Reviews
The neon Car For America
Dear www.edmund.com, This car is basically the best car. Its fast, comfortable, and a really cool car. Its sensible and safe for any teenager. Like me, anyway about the car its easy to drive (and doesent have a stupid stick shifts.) Well thats all why the neon is a good car so long!
Best Economy Car Late 90's
Sure, a Toyota or Honda might be more reliable, but a used 1999 Neon will be a lot cheaper. In reality, the 1999 Neon is highly reliable - they got all the bugs out of this car originally introduced in 1995. It rides and handles like a much bigger car - it is fast and safe. Good gas mileage too. The 3 speed automatic isn't as good - it needs the fourth speed. The 5 speed is great, like a sports car.
I Hate This Car
Where do I begin with my complaints? You name it, and it has broken on my Neon. I have replaced the head gasket, the transmission, the sunroof motor (twice), water pump, and the starter twice and it is still not running at this current time. I would NEVER recommend a Neon to anyone that I know. I have had nothing but problems with this car. Most of the stuff was covered under my warrenty, but it is still the hassel of taking it to the garage every month and being without a car for a few days because it has broken down again!!
Had to have a Neon R/T
Loved the look of these R/Ts when they came out and had been very pleased with my 4 door Neons purchased in 1995 and 1998. It's sharp, comfortable and responsive. Good road manners even on a long drive. 5 speed is a joy to shift. My only disappointment; I don't think this car is as quick as it should be, although I'm not one to pound on equipment either.
my rants
over all this car is very good! There have been a few things that required servicing more than once. The sunroof has caused a few concerns as well as the head gasket leaking. Both items being covered under the warranty.
