Neons might not have a good rep but what I’ve found it’s from people treating them like civics not changing fluids often enough or doing basic maintenance, these cars have gotten into 500k miles before , the reason the oem headgasket failed is because the cylinder 4 bolt holes weren’t drilled deep enough to torque to spec the solution to that was a 4 ply mls headgasket, timing belts/water pump need replaced either 100k miles or 10 years (at least the belt) take care of your cars they will take care of you(I’ve owned 3 of them) first one I sold because i didn’t take good care of it so it needed some engine work (just valves) the 2nd from purchase had an auto trans that was just bad I decided to use as a parts car for my 3rd as it had around 150k miles and am redoing gaskets , if your looking at one nowadays especially if it’s a 90s model you have to consider that’s a 23-28 year old car gaskets and suspension will need some love. Neons we’re good people were just bad and abused them

The Neon is fast, but my fuel economy is bad. Other than that, the car is excellent. For a small car, it is roomy and comfortable.

I hate this car. It has to many problems. I bought this car with 91,XXX miles on it and ive already had so many problem. So far ive had to replace the transmission coolant hoses and last night when i was driving it discovered i have to now replace the water pump and the water overflow where the antifreeze goes. I would NOT recomend this car or and DODGE NEON or DODGE to any one i know or will know in the future. THEY SUCK!!!!

I love my Neon. It's pretty comfortable, reliable, and fuel efficient. I've had no problems with it (other than replacing the battery)in the past 3 1/2 years. The only things that they could improve: more trunk space and there is only one mirror on the driver side visor. The passenger needs one too!! :)
