I recently purchased my 2nd Dodge Intrepid. They are very dependable cars,as long as they're taken care of. My 1st Intrepid was a 2000. Owned it 3 years and only replaced a tire rod and the power steering pump(previous owner neglected it). I accumulated alot of miles on that car. When I let it go it had 215,000 miles and still going strong. My current intrepid is a 2003. Sitting at 146,000. Excellent car. I change my oil every 5,000 miles. 4qts of synthetic blend oil and 1 qt of Lucas engine treatment. These cars are CHAMPS as long as they're taken care of!

12 years old, 186K miles and still running like new

Bought new in 2003, this car never let me down or left me stranded. Replaced generator at 121K (2011), front-left wheel bearing hub in 2015 (180K), total cost for both repairs $300 (self-replaced). Original exhaust system still solid. Replaced front pads and rotors at 120K, rear at 140K. Gone thru two batteries as well. A good, simple, cheap car.

Stay Away, I will never own Dodge again. within 1 month of owning, blown head gasget, blown pressure relief valve, Replaced. Then engine lght stays on..no power uphills, sludge build up in engine (oil changed correclty) Misses, overheats. Can't see when backing up vision field limited. I would highly recommend if you are thinking of buying an intrepid research not only this year but many others have severe engine trouble. I can't wait to trade it in if I can ever get it to run long enough to trade in! Value drops.

I have now leased my second Dodge Intrepid since late 1999. I was very pleased with the 2000 model, so I decided to lease a 2003 model which now the base model is the SE unlike 2000.

We purchased this car for my daughter with 177000 miles. These miles were accumulated mostly be a salesman in rural Oklahoma. Shortly after we purchased it, we had to replace the alternator. I have replaced one of the mirrors where my daughter backed into a pole at Sonic. All new drivers should have cars with black mirrors so they don't have to go to the body shop for mirror replacement. Car has a huge back seat. My daughter complains about lack of power merging onto the interstate. If we get anywhere near the Edmund's private party price for this car, it will have exceeded our expectations for value. Presently has 193,000 miles.

When GM discontinued their oldsmobile line (which i owned all cutlass models) i decided to purchased my 2003 Intrepid SXT. I wanted a car to carry my friends and for camping. I was suprised that my car, the the back seat down, held more than a honda crv. It presently has almost 115,000 and just did the regular maintainence recomendations. I was suprised on the open road I have gotten approx 27 mpg with the air on. Hopefully they will bring back the production of the intrepid as they have with other models. I would purchase another if they do.

This is my second Intrepid. I bought my 2003 SXT brand new over 8 years ago. I currently have 259000 miles on it. Only 1 tune up done at 115000 miles, oil changed every 6000 miles. Mostly regular maintenance was all it needed until about 200000 miles. With age and mileage things wear out, radiator, water pump, ac compressor and condensor. But engine and transmission still strong. Looks, runs and sounds almost like new. I hear people a lot saying all Intrepids have serious engine or transmission problems and they don't last. I think most of their problems were probably lack of proper care and maintenance. Best car in the U.S. Wish they were still made, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.

I've had this car for over 4 years and have put on 85,000 miles. The engine is quiet & without problems primarily because I have used mobil 1 since new. The 2.7 engine has a history of sludging and failing by 100k (many times earlier) if you do normal oil changes with regular oil. I.e., the oil cooks in the engine. However, if you can find a low mileage version (2.7 L) or one with 3.5 L engine, you should be okay AS LONG AS YOU USE MOBIL ONE. (if you don't believe me ask any mechanic with real experience with the 2.7 L engine. YOU SHOULD BE REALLY SUSPCIOUS OF A HIGH ENGINE 2.7 L (definitely have mechanic check one of these).

Bought it with 23k on the clock, great car, never let me down once. Had to swap some brake rotors out as they warped a couple of times. Bought the 2.7 that has a timing chain instead of a belt, never missed a beat. Someone pulled out in front of me and now I have to find another one! Aaarghh! Anyway, car was roomy, fun and very dependable. If I can find a decent one equal to my insurance check, I'll snag it, but they are a dying breed. Highly recommend this car, good value for money I think.

Rented this auto for a week and was very impressed.I liked her enough that I went to my local dealer and bought one.I have looked at other reliability histories and concluded she'll be just fine.Only option was the upgraded stereo, standard radio in rental wasn't all that great.Great warranty from dodge,so you cannot go wrong. And at 200hp@3400lbs.,She can really get it..

I test drove about 12 used cars, and then stumbled into the SXT, which I had not even considered when I started looking. After I drove it once, I was sold. Car is all around fantastic. Power is great and handling is superior for this size of car. Braking is superb. Styling of exterior and interior are both acceptable.

My wife and I bought it used because she liked the loook of the outside and we really had to buy something that day. The price was right but the car stinks. It is a nice looking car and it is roomy. We have had the car in the shop at least once a month and we always think that it is the trans but it turns out to be something else. The car was not worth the stress and inconvience. i will never own another dodge, this is my third and it is the same story, cheap and ineefective.

having taken out 7 cars for a test drive (in this price range) I was convinced that I would be settling for a four cylinder econobox. The Intrepid proved me wrong and I bought it right after the test drive was done. What a great car for the money! Handling, ride, interior space are all excellent...not to mention it's not hard to look at either!

I too like Bryan rented the Intrepid over the Thanksgiving holiday 2002. I was supposed to ride in a Dodge Neon but lucky for me they did not have any. I loved this car; it performed well on the highway and to me it was a luxurious ride. I told my daughter to remember the name of this car. The love of my life is the Nissan Sentra but with this car buy I had to have a 6. Try it, you'll like it.

I've only had my Intrepid for 5 months so I can't give much info regarding the reliability yet...only that so far it's been great! Love the ride...a bit of road noise on the highway, but not horrible. Love the spaciousness of the interior, and also of the trunk. Don't miss my Durango.

I love driving this car. . . when I can. It's roomy and a great drive. I liked it much better than the competing Bonneville. Looks great and can't say enough about the power. However, 3 days after buying, power steering fluid had all drained away. Fixed under warranty. Also within 1st 5 months: 1) A/C condenser & compressor replaced. 2) Power train computer replaced 3) Transmission pump replaced. Approx. 12 days in the shop. All covered by warranty but what a pain!

I love this car. This is my 2nd one. I had a 2000 and when I had to turn it in I went and got another one. I loved the 2000 but the 2003 drives 100% better. The 2000's pick up was a bit slow but this one, all I have to do is put my foot on the gas. It has so much room. It is the best road trip car I have ever driven. I feel as if I'm floating on air. As long as Dodge keeps making the Intrepid to drive and ride this way I will keep buying them.

The style, power, comfort, power and power were outstanding. Did I mention the power? Having driven a smaller V6 without punch, this is a dream come true without it having an 8. (Hey Dodge, this would be a great choice to drop a hemi in!). Stealing from Deniro in Analyze That ... you could but three bodies in that trunk! The only complaints I have are 1) the cup holders are too small and 2) the CD player should have repeat.

I purchased this car used. The car design is pretty, but beauty isn't what one needs to get back and forth to work. The car has been reliable, however it has no get up and go. It is sad when a piece of junk can get up to speed before you can. I must admit I am growing really tired of people honking for me to move faster. This car doesn't hold value either. I am so upside down that I can't get out of the car. The fuel usage is poor compared to my past experiences with other vehicles. I personally believe that all Dodge Intrepids are over priced. I wish that I had done my homework before making the purchase. Lesson learned.

I bought the SXT version because of the power. 250 HP, it has great excelleration and handles very well for the size of the car. There is a lot of interior room and a whole lot of features for the price. Braking is also very good with the 4 wheel disc brakes. All around I think that it is the best large sports sedan for the price.

This car has a great style. The engine sounds very nice and can get up and go very fast for its size. I went on a trip to Wyoming with this car from Oregon. The Car was a blast to drive, it was a great experiance. And the whole time I got around 28+ mpg which was REALLY good for the power.

I started out looking for an inexpensive compact sedan. I couldn't believe it when I stumbled upon the price of the Intrepid. It cost virtually the same as an upgraded compact sedan, except that it came standard with far more features. Once I took it for a ride, I was sold. The standard engine is extremely powerful and this car corners like a sports car. To top it off the car looks fantastic. My kids love the spacious and comfortable rear seats and a/c vents. Even though it's a base model sedan it feels more like I'm driving a flashy sport coupe!
