Used 1999 Dodge Intrepid Consumer Reviews
Love my baby
I bought this vehicle used with 36,000 miles. I've put over 27,000 miles a year on this baby and have had little or no trouble. She now has 230,000 miles and just needs a speed sensor. As long as you service and change your oil and fluids, your intrepid will run forever. She has the 2.7 and I'm very impressed. Too bad they have taken them off the market. I would not hesitate to buy another as long as I have the maintenance schedule. In all I've only put about $1000.00 into her, other than oil and fluid changes/tires and brakes.
keep maintained
this is a fun car to drive. 1st time owning a dodge. as long as maintained is a good car / risky if buying pre-owned. Common issue is head gasket, pistons & value guides causes car to smoke. After having these issues fixed I haven't been able to go to beach (anything to do with driving over mountains, huge inclines as such) but in city has been good car. Had car accident totaled vehicle I will not purchase another 1 but if had not been totaled I would still enjoy this car. Maintenance has not been to bad, really suggest just keep it up and should be an ok car.

NOT RECOMMENDED
This was my first car,i bought with 29000 miles on it demo. And i owned for 3 years now,Quality is worse,Brakes, rotors every 30000 K,New pinion rack,Windows don't work AGAIN.And at85000K need new Engine for about $6000+labor/dealer/.It seems this engine V6 2.7 to have some higins problem with oil circulation.
worst car I have ever owned
Be careful, these cars will screw you over. We thought it was a good car, until the engine went bad at 70,000 miles, the heating fan went out at 50,000, the struts went bad, the electric windows wouldn't work anymore, tape player doesnt work.... Need I say more. Piece of crap, and I am not the only one to say so. Watch out! We've been stung. Bad resale value also.
Dodge Demo
I bought my Intrepid in '99. It was a demo with only 3000 miles on it. I loved the car until about 65,000 miles when the engine seized up and had to be rebuilt. I later found out that this is common with the Intrepid. Very costly repair. I gave it to my son to drive about a year ago and he recently totaled it in a crash. At this time it had 140,000 miles on it. Worked out pretty good for me though because trade in value was only about $1000.00 but the insurance company gave me $3000.00!
