Navigation by voice activation would be nice. Also, an audio component to the back up safety system would be helpful. This vehicle handles more like a car then a minivan. Comfortable with nice amenities.

Fourth Grand Caravan on 18 years - New 2018

I have had 4 Grand Caravans starting in 2003 which my son now owns and has over 160,000 miles on and it's still going. The best thing they did was adding the Sto-N-Go seats which I got in my 2006. I first got the Navigation N430 radio in my 2011 which was my must have in my new 2018. The 2011 had 89,000 miles, so I wanted to get a new 2018 because I've heard it was the last year for this body site. The new Chrysler Pacific van is a down sized body site and I like the roomier Caravan. I also want to give the 2011 to my son to replace the 2018. He is also still driving the 2006 which has over a 100,000 on it. What started me looking at the 2018 was Dodge was offering considerable discounts (up to $8K off). I didn't qualify for all of them but it made the final price reasonable. I have had excellent service out of all the Caravans I've owned. Other than standard maintenance items such as oil changes, tires and batteries. I had to replace very few other items on any of my Grand Caravans. Getting 19 miles to the gallon around town, 27 miles highway and mixed of about 24 mpg is astounding for such a large vehicle. The versatility is great. When we go camping and scuba diving being able to stow all seats allows us to pack all out gear. Normally, we leave the 2nd row seats up and there is still plenty of room for my golf clubs, coolers, suit cases etc. when we travel. If you are in the market for a large SUV or Minivan you might want to look into this last year of the Grand Caravan. It is the most bang for the buck I have been able to find in this market segment.

due To our growing family, we were in market for a minivan. After doing much research online, we went shopping. It took us 1 day to decide which van was right for us! 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan. I loved the look on the Chrysler Pacifica, so we drove on of those- we were not a big fan. It was not as comfortable as we thought a “luxury” minivan would be. We then drove the caravan- which was very smooth- absorbing bumps with ease, smooth acceleration, nice features, comfortable seats, and lower cost than the Pacifica. Granted, we did like the look of the interior dash in the Pacifica better- it did feel like you were driving a very large vehicle (and I drive a semi) we then drove the 2016 Kia Sedona, and our backs were hurting before we were finished with the test drive. We felt clostrophobic in the front of the Sedona. The Sedona is a bit longer than the caravan, but the front feels cramped, while there is a little more legroom in the back seats. We went into this shopping trip with 2 different vehicles in mind. The Pacifica, and the Sedona- we ended up liking the Dodge Grand Caravan so much more! Interior feels like it’s built to last, quality is great, design wonderful. *fyi- I’ve never been a fan of Dodge, but the stow-n-go option really made me consider it- I’m glad I did! One thing about the Caravan that is disappointing is the infotainment screen. Feels a bit like the screens from cell phones many years ago. Back up camera leaves much to be desired, as it is pretty grainy, and at night- it’s just about worthless. However, it is a touchscreen, and it is a decent size. The Sedona had a very small screen. If you can look past the quality of the screen, then definitely take a look at the 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan! Ours has leather/suede seats.

The past couple of model years Dodge has been selling the Grand Caravan as a strictly bare-bones alternative to the posh Chrysler Pacifica. There are so few options even available now that even a "top of the line" model feels minimal. You'd be better off getting a 2016 or 2017 GT model, as these still had leather seats, a digital instrument display, power pedal adjustment, parking sensors, blind spot monitors, upgraded sound system, and most other features as options (though I'm not sure about remote start, sunroof, Wi-Fi and Blu-ray-- those might have been only the Town & Country). The 2017 GT from my experience was just fine; the engine is powerful, the seats are comfortable, the styling is good, gas mileage is good if you use Econ mode, and extra features like the fold-flat seats and built-in self-charging flashlight come in handy.

I find that I usually prefer Chrysler packages over Dodge. Having owned 3 Dodge vehicles and 1 Chrysler I was looking forward to another Chrysler...would have like the new Pacifica or at least a late model Town & Country. I found the 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT to be a serious improvement on prior years and an improvement on the SE model. Unless you really feel you need the power and performance(it's a mini-van for pete's sake) this rig is a great machine. The 2.6L motor has plenty of guts with about 800Lbs of people in it and I doubt it lags much with all the shopping and other stuff a daily driver carries around. 0-60 is respectably zippy without having to punch it much. 60-85 on the freeway seems pretty effortless. Gas mileage will be lower than foreign cars/vans but that's kinda expected. Acceleration, steering, corners, basically all the performance issues are better on this rig than the equivalent Toyota Sienna I drove(higher priced). computer/audio-control screen could be bigger. no dash area for cell phone. no USB ports in the back area. power seat controls are on the door side base of the seats(some idiot thought that up). Suspension feels just a bit stiffer than my older Pacifica and van has slightly smaller tires so you feel the road a little bit more and there is just a bit more road noise in the cabin. those are my biggest gripes. Seats are comfy, layout is pretty good. wheel is very adjustable. seats(powered) are nicely adjustable. Audio system sounds great. Uconnect for using phone hands free works great...activated from the steering wheel thumb controls. this is a very
