A lot of shopping
I did a lot of shopping for this van and am well pleased. I got a great deal on the price [better than the websites suggested would be an excellent deal] and the dealership was one of the best I have ever dealt with. I realize you get what you pay for, and so many of the "convenience" items are missing from my van [power seats, power side doors and liftgate, dvd, etc.] but I decided I did not need them and they would only be something more to eventually break if I kept the van for a lengthy time. I am totally impressed with the bluetooth and satellite radio function, and the seats are tremendously comfortable. My biggest reason for purchasing Dodge was the price break and the stow and go seating. I have the room of a regular size pickup truck bed behind the front seats with all the seats folded into the floor and the seats are easily used or stowed in minutes. I can now take the bicycles on long trips with them being safely stored inside the van. The 283hp is plenty and it will accelerate to highway speed very easily. Obviously a minivan will always look like a minivan, but the Dodge does have a certain rugged look about it with the black grill and crossbars. As an update after one year, I must say that I have had no problems with the minivan. Fuel milage is better than expected and acceleration is very good. The "economy" button that controls the shifting is very useful and helps fuel milage tremendously, and I only turn it off when in heavy traffic or I need quick acceleration. Another update: After 30,000 miles I have had absolutely no issues. I change the oil myself [every 5000 miles] with the owner manual's recommended oil [Pennzoil] and an oil filter from the dealer is surprisingly cheap [less than $10], so I have saved a lot in maintenance. Tire rotation every 10,000 miles. 3 year update: 62,000 miles and no problems. Regular maintenance and new tires. Original brakes are still in very good condition.

25 mpg Highway??????
I just drove by myself from GA to AZ. 1918 miles in economy mode and got at worst 28.5 mpg at best 32.2 mpg for an average 29.5 mpg. I'm blown' away!!! The driver seat is too high for my 6'2" body, and the arm rest is 4" too low to be of any use. It's a Dodge so I have no expectations of it being reliable.I like the fact that I can build a bed in the back and still have the all the seats when I get to my destination. I have a bad back and had no problems even without lumbar support. 8/30/17 I just made the trip again and got 29 mpg average. The transmission has started to slip! This is sooner than expected, it's a dodge! I will have to service the transmission soon so it will last longer.

Great Value & Practical Buy
We have owned two Caravans before this one so we are familiar with the line. I had one of the originals as a company car in 1986. We bought a base model Caravan in 1999 when starting our family. It was a great value in a new vehicle and we drove it up until 3-years ago when the cost of fixing it was greater than the value of the vehicle. That was the 4-cylinder model with a 3-spd tranny and we put about 175,000 miles on it before its useful life ended (14 years). During that time we replaced one transmission, a couple of timing belts, and otherwise just normal upkeep. We bought a used one 3-years ago (2005 model) with 90,000 miles on it because we needed a vehicle in a hurry. I only changed the oil, tires, and brakes on that one but the engine light started coming on (rich fuel mixture) and the transmission started doing its goofiness at about 120,000 miles. So... with the big rebates in 2016, I took it in and exchanged it for the base model 2016. I had bought it for $5500 and got $1200 on the trade so $1433/year to drive wasn't bad. Base models sure have changed in 17 years. I feel like the base model vehicle has everything I wanted and at $16,971 after rebates, I feel it has very good value over the estimated 15-year lifespan of the vehicle. The fuel economy is actually worse than our 4-cylinder but not enough to sour me on the engine. The storage and the stow-n-go seats really make for maximum usable space and capacity. Obviously, our reliability experience is minimal since we have only owned it for a month. I do know that the quality differences between manufacturers have greatly narrowed. Where the Japanese machines used to have commanding quality advantages the differences are much less now. I also like to buy models that are mature and this vehicle certainly qualifies in that this is the 8th year without meaningful platform changes on the model. If you look at the reported defects/service visits on one of the online resources it shows that Dodge has improved dramatically from the earlier model years (2008, 2009) in terms of initial quality. The maintenance requirements are also drastically lower compared to older vehicles. You change the oil, tires, and brakes and there is no more timing belt. The transmission is sealed and pushes out the first service to 120,000 miles, plugs @ 100,000. I think I'll preempt those numbers slightly but overall that decreases the cost of driving. Everyone who rides in it comments on how nice it is but that is the case with most new vehicles. It is a minivan, not a Porsche so I set my expectations accordingly. It drives well for extended trips, has low road noise and I think the front seats are the best I've ever seen in a vehicle. They are exceptionally comfortable. The transmission is a 6-spd which is a dramatic difference from the older vehicles. I don't know how it rates vs. the Japanese or S. Korean rivals because I didn't drive them but it strikes me as a perfectly acceptable driving experience for a minivan. I own Hyundai and a Chevy as other vehicles so I don't have brand loyalty other than I buy mainly for value. The Dodge was $9,000 less than the nearest competitor that I could buy. Whatever flaws it may or may not have been easily overcome by that price delta. Resale value.... it doesn't hold up as good as the Honda or Toyota. But I'd focus on the cost to drive, not absolute resale value. Look at the delta in price rather and consider sales tax, insurance, and financing cost in the equation. If you plan to turn a vehicle over every 3-years then I'd do the math using data from current model vehicles that are on the market and compare buying one vs. the other. If you buy and hold a vehicle I don't see how resale value matters. - 1 Year Update - No change in the above review after 1-year & 13,000 miles of ownership. I've changed the oil and rotated the tires. - 1.5 Year Update No change in the above review. We now have 23,000 miles of ownership and it is going strong. Update 2020: No change in the above review. My wife has put a few beauty marks on it and we are at 57,000 miles now and have swapped out the original tires. I did a tranny service on it at 50,000 miles (only because it was cheap for me to swap fluid/filter - cost like $45) but it continues to be a great buy. Update 2022: No further changes to notate. We are at 70,000 miles now and I've replaced the OEM battery, and other than that wiper blades, oil, and I added a new transmission pan with a drain plug so that I can swap fluid frequently. I added a 2" receiver so that I can tow our little teardrop camper but otherwise she is as reliable as day one. I am thinking about a coolant swap, and changing the plugs isn't a trivial job on the Pentastar. I have another year or two before I need to undertake that.

Great Deal on new DGC R/T in rare options package.
Found a new 2016 Black R/T with no integrated dvd system (not needed as kids are grown and have their on PED's) but with a roof rack and the tow hitch pkg., basically what was looking for compared to the Sienna and Odyssey. Looked at the Sienna XLE and SE as that was the comparable trim I wanted. But got my new R/T for about $8K (after mfg. Rebates and dealer discounts) off the window sticker of $35K+ MSRP . The Sienna SE and XLE's MSRP was way over $37K+ and the final price after rebates and discounts would have been around $32K - $33K at best. The only major thing lacking in the R/T compared to the XLE/SE was a moon roof. But for a $5K - $6K savings can live with it. My brother in-law has the 2015 Odyssey, but never really cared for its radical exterior and looks or the interior dash layout and Honda no longer offers roof racks, even on their high end trim models. For various other reasons never considered the Nissan or KIA minivans. The DGC is dated but its body lines and design looks more conventional and clean. Its form and function meets my needs, especially the Stow N Go 2nd and 3rd row seats for cargo conversion and utility that other minivans other than Chrysler's Pacifica lacks. A Pacifica with the trim & options I wanted would have cost around mid $30's plus it's a bit smaller compared to the DGC. The Sienna's 2nd row tiny middle seat would have been useless to me and why pay for something that will never be used. It's also my personal rolling jukebox on wheels as downloaded over 9,000 songs on the 430N radio with Garmin navigation and premium audio with 9 speakers and 500 watts subwoofer. It's a minivan not a sports car so my expectations for how it drives and handle are realistic. My 2007 Mazda 6 with the V6 provides that experience. The R/T trim in Black Pearl with its black accents for the wheels and headlights makes it stand out a bit, looks like a minivan that Darth Vader or Batman would drive. Also found some red colored Dodge, R/T, and Mopar decals on-line to enhance its looks and make it more unique and personalized. UPDATE as of 8/19/2021 Still satisfied with my 2016 DGC as it drives and handles well, no issues, black pearl paint still shines. The check engine light stayed on few weeks ago for about 30 miles then went away, think it was due to some bad gasoline. The MPG is OK (about 14 to17 for local / mixed, 27- 28 on Interstate for long road trips) but could be better. Doesn't get much use as it's our 3rd vehicle for weekend and road trips, the 2020 covid really reduced travel desires. Currently only about 13,800 miles after almost 5 years of ownership, the DGC will serve as my "Old Man" vehicle when my Mazda 6 is conveyed to my kids. Maxed out at over 9,000 downloaded songs on its 430N radio. Updates for the Garmin Navigation system should be free or at least much cheaper considering how much that option cost. The DGC tows a 3,500 lbs. loaded small RV travel trailer OK on the flats and Interstates but struggles a bit on the upgrades and hills, it is at its tow limits. Towing will reduce MPG by about 40% to 50% dependent upon traffic and road conditions. So for my planned future trips to the NP's and mountains out west, 2+ years ago got a used 2008 Ford F-150 crew cab P/U truck with the 5.4 V8 engine. Unless circumstances change, foresee keeping the DGC for about 20 more years until I plan to stop driving altogether, doubt it will ever reach 100K miles total use. 2/20/2024 UPDATE My only complaint with the DGC so far is that it had a minor oil leak at around 19K miles. This was fixed for a $100 deductible through the local Chrysler dealer as I had purchased the lifetime warranty thru FCA shortly after buying the vehicle new. Vehicle is still underused as total miles is only 20.360 miles as of 2/20/2024 for a 2016 that was bought new end of August 2016.

Bias Review
Updated review. The van has its drawbacks after driving for 12,000+ miles, but they are far from saying do not consider it at all for the last year in production for 2017. The turning radius makes for very difficult parking in tight, crowded parking lots, the infotainment system does not automatically reconnect with your phone once back in the vehicle after turning off. Dodge won’t update the navigation system without purchasing an update which is outrageous. Center interior plastic separating second and third row is too flimsy for my confidence. Getting in and out of the third row of the van is a pain for any sized individual. Flipping the second row seats up only makes for a more difficult situation. Upper storage seems useless without DVD installed. The sliding doors are slow and need to be lubed from time to time. Because of the vans bulky size the tires seem to need refilling quite often. Generally, I trust Edmunds for good reviews. I do, however, feel that Edmunds bias towards the Dodge Grand Caravan. I looked at the Odyssey, Sienna, and Kia Sedona. The odyssey at the price we purchased the fully loaded model R/T DGC blows the odyssey out of the water. The Sienna is a goofy, heavy, unattractive minivan with expensive models. The Sedona's second-row captains chairs can't be removed, so it is sort of comical that they bash and go after the DGC for its outdated or design, when it has amazing cargo space, and very handy stown'go features.

Nice Van when not in the Shop
Bought used in 2016 with 16000 miles on it. Right off the bat in a month power steering pump leaking but repaired under warranty. Paint on hood bubbling due to rust, seems to be a common problem.4 years later 1 month after paying off car on vacation and transmission stuck in 1st gear, needed solenoid pack for $1000. Year later brake caliber leaking, glad I saw the wet spot in driveway from the leak. Both sun visors break, won't stay up. Replaced front strut. Replaced windshield washer line for $150.Last straw was the sliding door was jammed closed. Was a faulty actuator that was suppose to be cover under a extended warranty but dealer says it was the linkage for another $1200, at this point traded car in without fixing the door. All this with less than 48000 miles on it. I liked the room in the van with the stow away seats but I could not trust this vehicle any more after owning it less than 6 years. No more Dodges or Chrysler for me.

Recurring problem with brand new van
I bought this brand new van to feel safe while transporting our family of 6 around. At 3,000 miles all of a sudden the windshiled wipers came on and would not turn off, all of the warning lights came on, a "No Bus" code appeared and I lost power to all the sliding doors. I have had it in for service twice (both times they kept it for a week). They are taking electrical components all apart (harness wires, etc) which makes me nervous because things never go back together the same way. The problem is still happening at random times and it always seems to be after business hours. The most recent time was while driving in a busy downtown area and I had no operating turn signals and did not feel safe driving this vehicle. The dealership and the headquarters want me to basically drive the vehicle (with no prediction of how long this will take) until the problem happens so that they can get an "active code" reading to help fix the problem. So here I am with a brand new unreliable vehicle that I spent thousands and thousands of dollars on that is now requiring multiple service appointments. The whole reason I went for a new vehicle was to have a reliable vehicle that I did not have to take in for service all the time.

A Grand Caravan
Had a 2013 Journey. Some issues with 6 speed trans upshift but completely corrected in our 2016 Grand Caravan. Excellent acceleration, smooth shifting, and excellent gas mileage, 30 highway and 24 overall. Great ride and great visibility. Plenty of room for seating and plenty of storage. Great value. Nothing close to it for the price.

Vacation rental
Rented from Enterprice Burleson. Was very surprised no GPS. Fortunately I had a spare. No back up camera which for the length this vehicle could really use. Great on gas for size vehicle. Not easy exit from last row seat. Road smooth. Good luggage space for our 6 persons.

Had so called "better" Sienna and Odyssey...
The most car for your $!!!, I had both Sienna and Odyssey, and the front seats are for very small people, another question: who needs a build in vacuum cleaner when most garages have a shop-vac just in front of the car. If one have to own something else then Chrysler product I still recommend Toyota Sienna without the leather interior. But if looking for fastest (0-60 in 7.2 seconds) and still the best in the minivan class Dodge AVP/SE Plus with option 29Q is the best value for your $ !!! I wonder if the Gentlemen writing bad story about Dodge front seats ever sit in one...??? Now after over a year with the Pentastar Engine, still very good driving, perfect for camping. Gas mileage varies from 16mpg in hard City driving (taking on some snobbish brands and showing them my tail...) to amazing 28mpg on fuels without ethanol, well after reading some other stories I need to mention that my "mini-van" is now nicely equipped with a mans toilet (just drink all the milk from one gallon jug),and the vacuum cleaner still works perfect for all my cars. Three years update: soon will need new tires, no bad for OME equipped Kumho, still thinking Continental or Yokohama ...? (last tire I will put on is Michelin), I read a lot of stories how much improvement a better tires will do. In the past three years I avoided all mechanics garages and performed oil change, tire rotation etc. myself and therefore van has NO problems !!!. By now drove three times from Indiana to Montana for my fishing trips (I'm retired) and on the way used my van as a "tent" on KOA's campgrounds, speed limit past Iowa is 80-85 mph and van is easy driving a "little above that..." , with higher speed the gas mileage goes to 21-22 mpg, but I managed to get little over 30 mpg in Illinois driving "very slow", just don't feel like talking to the State Troopers in the "Obama-land"...since I have an Indiana registration plate...So SUMMARY after three years still the best car for your $$$ 76,000miles with original brakes, new tires (Continental) and new battery, one transmission oil change and oil changes at 3K, no mechanical problems at all, HAVE a little RUST bubble on the hood???

Still Not satisfied
Little has changed since my last review. The trany is still very sketchy. I spoke to corporate when initially doing this review, and they stated that they extended my Powertrain warranty but have yet to see it in writing.. the suspension has been giving me very faint rattle. Putting taking it to the dealership I was told by a technician that this was a common noise on this vehicle. I refuse to believe that rattling from a suspension is normal. I refuse to believe that position in this transmission is normal. FCA what are you creating here? Is this why you are phasing this vehicle out? Is this why you completely redesigned your platform for your minivans? Something needs to be done....... So I need to ask the public a question, I recently purchased a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan SE plus with a 3.6 liter pentastar V-6 coupled with a 6-speed transmission. I know that the six-speed transmission has been existing for quite some time and I have seen some of the reviews with some issues pertaining to it. Recently I had it serviced for a concern that I had when placing it in reverse... after placing it in reverse easing off the brake it starts to to have a rhythmic Shake. Gets worse when it is on an uphill as if you were backing up into a driveway it is most noticeable. Now the symptoms to go away as you give it more gas it only happens as the car begins to move in reverse. I have noticed it ever so slightly when I put it into drive as I'm easing off the break as well. While I was at the dealer showing the technician the symptoms he seemed just as puzzled as I was. It was disclosed to me by a service manager at this complaint has come in in the past. They went as far as bringing a brand new 2016 Caravan still with much plastic on it and the symptoms were very much present in that same vehicle. This looks to me like a design flaw or programming issue with the 6-speed transmission. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I am currently talking to the corporate office of Dodge to try to get some sort of understanding of this situation.

Transmission out at 62,000 just out of warranty
I am so disappointed with this vehicle and Dodge Chrystler as a company. The transmission went out with in 2 months and 2,000 miles outside of warranty and they would not stand behind their product. Please take caution. I am an excellent car owner and this was not due to any fault of my own.

Yes I Drive a Minivan- and Love It
I am not a very tall person (5'5), so not sure about how this can fits taller people, but for me it's wonderful. Kids have tons of room and even lots of storage room in the back. Car accelerates responsively, and interior is comfortable. We have taken this van on many trips already and no complaints from the kids. We bought the higher level, with lots of gadgets and entertainment features, well worth it! Price was good too when compared to others we test- drove (Sienna, etc)

For minivan good car Too big for us
Good car and users E85 as well as regular gas. MPG ok for minivan. We are old and no longer see grandkids as often so too big for us now
Getting out of Dodge!
Update: Edmunds asked for an update. Here it is. Still a trash brand. I recently drove a 2019 300 with 7k miles. WOODEN TRIM WAS OUT OF PLACE AND DASHBOARD WAS BROKEN. DO NOT BUY FCA. QUALITY IS NOT IN THEIR PLAYBOOK. Dodge is an appropriate name for the brand since it describes what I will do every time I’m in the market for a new vehicle and drive by their dealerships. Terrible vehicles. Poor quality. Frequent repairs. I’ve owned several cars from Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep but I’ve had enough. Avoid this brand at all costs unless you like frequent recalls. An example of my experience... transmission seal leak on a van with 17000 miles on it. Less than 2000 miles later, we have a intake gasket leak and a cylinder gasket leak. The kicker... service department doesn’t even identify the leaks. Jiffy Lube does! Piss off FCA.

Over 6' tall? Drivers seat is like a squat toilet
This is my first Dodge mini-van (I've had a 2nd generation Odyssey). While I've only had the vehicle two days, the drivers seat (power adjustable) is intolerable. I'm 6'2" tall. To maximum the leg room, the seat has to be all the way back and as low as it will go (raising the seat brings it forward - so tall people get a low seat and short people get a tall seat). So it's literally like using on a squatting toilet - as your rear is low and there is then no thigh support. My knees are far above my elbows. Yes, I should have taken a test drive in the vehicle before accepting it (it is a company car), but I've never seen such a poor driver's seat in any vehicle I've driven in almost 30 years. I've always been able to adjust vehicle seats to a tolerable position before, not so far (I've driven the vehicle 7 hours already), thus I didn't think it would be problem when I approved of receiving the vehicle. Otherwise I've found no other major issues with the vehicle. No issues noted with fit/finish or noises. Acceleration is good. The cruse control can be up to 4 mph under your desired speed on hilly terrain - I don't remember that from other Dodge/Chrylser vehicles I've owned. The Uconnect system is nice (takes more steps to do the same functions, but has similar capabilities to GM's system), however it seems slow to answer bluetooth phone calls. Yes, the 2nd and 3rd row seats are thinly padded and low, but I rarely have passengers. About a year ago I test drive a Sienna. It's driving position wasn't great, but entirely usable. Based upon that fact alone, I'd suggest something other than a Dodge Grand Caravan.

A Great Value!
With the stow and go seats, you can put nearly anything inside this van (and I have). Absent this feature, some of it's supposedly superior competition came up FAR short on utility. With remote start and headed seats and wheels, winter is much easier to endure. Our Caravan has been literally 100 percent reliable so far (3 years, about 35000 miles). Our only grips are the road/wind noise at speed, the lack of tech (some of which we added aftermarket) and the comfort of those folding 2nd row seats (fortunately, we rarely ride in them). Can't understand the auto medias constant harping about time since last redesign. Having the latest and greatest isn't really part of the value equation, and they REALLY need to learn that.

Great van, but lousy transmission
We just bought our 2016 Grand Caravan SXT with 147,000 miles on the odometer. The build quality is quite impressive. The seat fabric is very durable, with absolutely no sign of wear on them. We love the stow and go seats. Our van was not equipped with the back-up camera or entertainment system, but the U-connect radio is sufficient for our needs. The ride quality is smooth and the engine is responsive. The only complaint I have about this van is the horrible 62TE transmission. It always seems to be searching for the proper gear. If we brake too quickly, the transmission does downshift fast enough and it feels like it wants to stall out. The transmission will shudder from time to time. I was convinced something was wrong with the transmission and was ready to drive it back to the dealer and demand they fix it. Before doing that, I brought the van to my trusted mechanic (who also happens to own a 2012 Grand Caravan). He plugged his computer to it and found no trouble codes. He also checked the fluid level (which involves a special dipstick tool, a computer, and a chart to determine the level on the stick) and it was where it needed to be. He explained that what we experienced with this van is normal and that his van drives the same. His daughter-in-law is always afraid that HER van's transmission is going to break because it also drives like this. I'm very disappointed in Chrysler for the design of this transmission. I had a 2001 Grand Caravan with 240,000 miles that shifted smoothly and never felt like it was going to break. I was ready to give our 2016 Grand Caravan a lower rating, but now that I know we can rely on it, the positives about this van outweigh the negatives. I would recommend, but be ready for hard shifts, shuddering, and weird gear changes.

65,000 miles and going strong
My Van had the wrong transmission pump in it, missed by the VIN recall. Transmission torque converter and pump was replaced by Tri-Star dodge Uniontown, PA it was like getting a new vehicle, better gas mileage great performance. Being a senior citizen the ride is very comfortable, and the view makes you a better driver you can see everything. I haul a lot of lumber and grand children and the stow and go seats save me a lot on tolls, I don't need the utility trailer. This van adapts to my very active lifestyle. I have the SXT trim package and that is all I need, I do not live in my vehicle I use it. Adjustable Lombard is great for the back and the ride is very comfortable after working all day. I have driven from PA to Delaware with a grand child and it was perfect the safety seats are a breeze to install in the Caravans. The super console is great, room for everyone's drinks & CD's. Plenty of room for 5 suitcases, 2 laptops, 3 tablets, large cooler, and picnic supplies and 7 passengers. I have a great Dodge dealer that keeps my van properly serviced. Good quality properly serviced tires make the ride in the Caravan better. In the winter I put Glacier grips on the front and last year I was caught in an ice storm with ice on the roads, I had to wait on sliding cars to get off the road so my Caravan could get us home safely. Great traction in the winter with the correct tires. What a wonderful vehicle to operate. Over 62, 000 miles and now my wife has a 2019 Grand Caravan of her own. Just had my 2016 inspected and an oil change passed with flying colors. Time to remove winter tread tires and get ready for summer travel and visit with the grandchildren. Almost time to change transmission filter and fluid and a full checkup at TRISTAR dodge dealership.

Worst Gas Mileage I Ever Had
For the most part I like this car. It's moderately comfortable, reliable, the overall "package" is good, but the gas mileage is absolutely horrible. The sticker said it would get an average of 20 mpg, based on 18 mpg on city streets and 24 mpg on highways. It isn't too bad on highways, getting an average of about 20 to 22 mpg when driving long distance and maintaining a steady speed of about 50 mph. But in stop and go city driving, it's awful. Maybe about 8 or 9 mpg at best. Since I don't travel much, do mostly city driving, and the fact the I am retired and don't have tons of money, I can't say I am happy at this point. Dodge says they will fix it, so all I can do is wait and see if they do. We'll see how much "Chrysler Cares" actually cares... Update 7\1\2017: It's been a year and a half since I bought this car, and my opinion of it and Chrysler overall hasn't changed a bit. The car is still reliable, and gets awful gas mileage. Since they did absolutely nothing about this, I can only assume that "Chrysler Cares" about their customers as much as the government does about clean air and emissions standards. I have discussed this situation with both Chrysler and the dealership at length, and neither has done anything about it. I wonder if the old bit of painting the car yellow and putting signs on the sides and back saying "This Lemon bought at ________ Dodge" would help any? I still like this car, but a key reason I bought it was the fact that my last car (which was the same model, but a 2004) was getting 10 mpg and was getting to be a maintenance nightmare running me about an average of $600.00 a month to keep it on the road. The new one actually costs me more, given that my insurance went way up. But on the upside this car is a lot safer than the 2004. One interesting (but tolerable) electronics quirk, is that when I try to use my cell phone through the Uconnect system, quite often it has dialing problems. For example, if I try to call my son Jack using a preset number, it will quite often say something like (I don't remember exactly, old age and all that) "You have dialed 4#. Is this correct?", and the only way to clear the computer's memory once it starts doing that is to turn the car off and restart it, thus resetting the computer. You can dial manually on the phone and then it works, but if there's nobody else in the car to do that for me, I can't do it because it's illegal to do that while driving. (Distracted driving...) Other times it will say something else that is also incorrect, but if I instead say "Call France" it works ok and the call goes through. I guess the computer's voice recognition program thinks that "Jack" and "France" sound the same. Should an emergency ever arise, I seriously doubt the Uconnect system would allow me to call 911 without having problems. I hope I never have to test that theory.

Ticky Dodge
Gear van very reliable but there is something about Dodge engineering, their motors in some vehicles have ticking lifters

Constant shifting and lack of power on highway
Drove a 2016 SXT rental with 6400 miles for a 600 mile trip. With only one passenger, the vehicle struggled to maintain highway speeds uphill and constantly downshifted to maintain a constant speed on even modest grades. I can't imagine what this symphony of shifting would be like with a load of passengers and cargo. External rear and lateral visibility was also unsatisfactory and the rear view camera was small and dim. The touch screen was small and a long reach for the driver and the info center above the steering column while easy to navigate was a hard to read backlit LCD configuration that oddly didn't show miles to empty while displaying the speedometer. Just seemed like a pretty half-heartedly designed vehicle. On the good side, the middle storage console was spacious and easy to access.

Dumb blond Lady gets shafted
I bought new Van from Wilson Motors in Corvallis, Oregon. What a mistake, they took my dependable Toyota Sienna in trade and gave me a $1000 for a car valued at $4-5000. The new Dodge Caravan didn't have enough heat to keep ice off the windshield, I took it in and was told that it met the standards! I'm in Oregon not Alaska. I went in three times to say the cruise control wasn't working and they said they couldn't repair it unless it broke right in front of them! Very rude and probably overworked repair people. The stress factor at the service desk was palpable. I spoke with the manager (a very nice man) who told them to take it in overnight, and guess what the cruise control didn't work and they had to replace it. I was so used to the ordinary features of my Toyota Sienna that I bought used and never had a break down or problem that I didn't realize that you had to remember to turn the lights on and off in this lemon. Also that the gas tank didn't lock from the inside and that when you used a regular store bought gas cap with a lock that it ruins something that costs $185 to get the light off your dash. Also that the back seats are like cardboard. It's the biggest financial mistake I've ever made, I wonder how the salesmen feel conning those of us who are not professional car buyers.

almost 4 yrs in now
Not that happy right now as it's back @ the dealer's...was told differential leak when went for oil change...Thankfully that's still covered under warranty but also engine light was on again! Now saying there's an evap leak and that's NOT covered. (In 2018, it was on and they had to replace to 02 sensor..). I'm becoming concerned about all these problems esp after paying so much $$ for a new vehicle!! Never had so many problems so early:(

Black Magic
I bought it new in 2016 it now has 47000 trouble free miles. Last summer I pulled a trailer with about 3000 lbs on it. It pulled and stopped it better than my 99 Chevy Tahoe.

Of course it happened
Well… we’ve had our 2016 grand caravan since 2018 and we’re right about 67k miles and the transmission needs fixed/replaced. It is currently at a transmission shop waiting to get checked out. I’ve always heard about dodge transmissions being terrible and it’s living up to it unfortunately.
Smooth ride with good sway control.
Drive by wire is good on cruise control, but lousy on manual control. Ride is excellent. Love the Stow-N-Go seats.

Perfect Ride for the Dad stage of life
So far, so good. My 2016 has 166k miles on it, and all in all it's still in great shape. This van handles well. It's well appointed with stylish and higher-end appearing interior. The only place that my van is lacking for me personally is with "get up and go". When it tries to climb a hill or take off on the highway, that's when you know it's a minivan! Otherwise, it's comfortable, smooth to drive, quiet, and sits a family of 6 with all their "gear" comfortably. This is my 3rd Grand Caravan, and they've not failed me yet.

Mixed Opinion
I bought my Grand Caravan in August 2021 after my 2014 Grand Caravan was totaled in an accident. The leather/suede seats aren't as comfortable as the cloth seats in my 2014. The engine is loud under heavy acceleration, but I don't care; it has a lot of power from the V6. It has a comfortable ride, and road noise remains low. It's very roomy and can carry a lot of stuff, with clever storage places around the inside. The Stow N Go is very useful, and I like the remote start. You have to have patience with the old and outdated touchscreen. It's slow to respond to inputs, but I can stream music on Spotify surprisingly. Mine has the blacktop package, which I initially thought was OK, but now it looks awful. The worst thing about this van is reliability. I had to have a whole new rack and pinion and TIPM that were the most expensive repairs, and other things like oxygen sensors, wheel bearings, ABS sensors, thermostat, and more. I don't know if 2016 was just a bad year, or most likely I got lemon. Whichever it is, I have to keep it for the long haul and deal with the uncertainties of this or that possibly breaking or failing on any given day. It's not a bad minivan at all, but I would just recommend you do extensive research.
