Chrysler Hit It Out Of The Park

I previously owned a 2003 Tahoe Z71 totally loaded and I loved it. I just retired the vehicle with 245 thousand miles on it and it was still a mule. For six years my middle son used this as his primary vehicle for high school and college. Oh what stories I would hear if the vehicle could talk. Of course, I wanted another Tahoe until I went to the dealer and went into shock at the price. A friend told me to look at the Durango. I had owned Jeeps before and liked them a lot but needed the third row. Upon further investigation I found out this is a Jeep with the third row as its made on the same platform since the last four years. I needed the Hemi to tow boats and snowmobiles and wow, how cool a vehicle. And it has far superior gas mileage for the big powerful V-8 paired with the new Fiat 8 speed transmission. I wound up with the Citadel trim level and its plenty posh yet durable enough to last. I can't see having any regrets as I scoot around in this very peppy SUV. Brand loyalty can be a good thing but sometimes it pays to switch and big time in this case!

This is probably one of the best purchases I have made. I was at first a little bit apprehensive as there are many competitors in this area however, this Dodge Durango blows all of them out of the water. I have a second row bench in my RT and it goes from family wagon and grocery getter to surprising the guy trying to race me in his fancy F-150 or Ram.

Compares and wins against Tahoe, Acadia, Explorer, etc After 3+ years of ownership; no rattles or squeaks, no repairs needed. All I have done is change oil, bought a new set of tires (Same OME Bridgestones, love them) and replaced the front right turn signal bulb (myself, thank you YouTube!). I run with a K&N Engine Air filter and recently replaced the cabin air filter myself (easy, thank you YouTube!) With 50K miles, my mileage is 17 city/23 hwy.on Top Tier Premiun gas. I am thinking of having the throttle-body cleaned.

As much as I enjoy driving this vehicle, I cannot find any issues with it. I have less than 10,000 miles on a used one but on a 2,000 mile road trip the mpg was around 22mpg for the whole trip. This wasn't in eco mode either. I have the RT and did not like driving the V6 models. Great for the experience and comfortable. We have had 6 people in this vehicle 4 adults and two car seats with kids in them. It did not feel crowded, but we have the captains chairs and a child seat does fit in the third row with an adult next to it.
