Surprisingly Pleased!
The 2016 Durango Citadel is a well-made, well designed full size SUV. The interior and exterior are well appointed and well designed, with great comfort and convenience items that are pleasing (vented driver and passenger seats) and start-stop technology. Two issue I've had so far: 1) is the fact that the 8 speed VVT transmission shifts roughly and even over revs when fast accelerating; 2) The cooling aspect in the HVAC seems to be having problems cooling effectively during some very hot days here in the Midwest. Hopefully a quick trip to the dealer can fix this. Other than these issues, the vehicle is great, so far.

Bought A Used 2016 AWD Limited
Ive been driving the 2016 AWD Limited for about 2 months now. This is a very nice vehicle and great value. I drove them all prior to trading for this one. Explorer, Grand Cherokee, Highlander, Sorento, ect. ect..The Durango beat them all out in my opinion. My biggest complaint on the previous models listed was the seats. The Durango is the most comfortable of them all in my opinion. The ride is smooth, quiet and enjoyable to drive especially with the electric adjustable steering with is a really cool feature. The sound system is great as is the navigation..The bluetooth is the best Ive seen yet. Plenty of 12v poser and USB. Very Pleased! Cargo area is very nice and access to the back (third row) is not bad at all even for an adult. I have been averaging 21-23 mpg city/hyw. This SUV looks great too unlike the others which remind me of an egg with all the round edges. Im really happy with mine so far..I would recommend this SUV to anyone.

Love, love, love!!!
After a lot of research, I had narrowed my search for an SUV to the Durango and the Ford Explorer. I wanted a third row, but I needed to have power leather seats, push button start, and keyless entry. After test driving only the Durango Limited AWD, I was sold. The price was better than the Explorer Limited and customer satisfaction was similar for both models. I have driven this for 6 months now, including a 10 day 2500 mile road trip with 4 adults and a 6 year old child, and I am still in love with this truck. I opted for the 2016 because it had chrome trim that the 2017 did not, making it look a little less manly but I’m a girl so that’s a good thing. The only drawbacks to note are as follows: 1) The auto start/stop is supposed to be a fuel saving feature, but it is annoying. It can be turned it off by pushing a button, but the car defaults back to the auto start/stop feature whenever you turn the car off. Given the awesomeness of the touchscreen, it would have been great if Chrysler would have made that programmable. 2) A few times there has been a bit of a delay in shifting when gunning the engine and mine has even revved up more than I expected in that situation. It’s short-lived and not problematic, just not necessarily what I expect or hope for if I’m trying to pass or beat somebody at a traffic light. 3) There is a problem with the lifespan of the front turn signal lightbulbs. They burn out prematurely and due to the layout under the hood, they’re not too easy to get to. I did find a how-to video on YouTube, so this is apparently a frequent issue with the 2016 and earlier model years. I was successful in changing out my bulb on my own though. 4) The headrests of the back seats on the passenger side, do add to the small blind spot created by the shape of the side window. This isn’t too much of an issue as long as they are flipped down when everyone is out of the back seat. That all said, the pros well offset the only cons I have found after 6 months of ownership. The car is quiet, comfortable, handles well in dry and wet conditions, and is loaded with features.

Best Overall Vehicle Ever Owned
This is a terrific machine. Looks great, has all the gadgets you want and enjoy, the 5.7 hemi with the 8 speed gearbox is a rocket. Super comfortable, excellent interior, super build quality, feels like a more expensive machine. This is my second Durango and I'm very pleased with it. Not the cheapest sticker, but you get what you pay for. Strong recommend for this machine; I have the R/T.

Happy Durango Owners
Ours is the 3.6l engine version, and it runs just beautifully. I guess I'm old school, and all the interior gadgets were almost overwhelming, from the back up camera to the rear proximity sensors, no more backing into hidden signposts or other cars parked behind. Too much to mention, overall, a very happy camper. It also works very well in our 110 plus degree Arizona desert heat.

2016 Citadel for a family of 5, ten months down
The Good: This car is built on the same plat form as the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Mercedes-Benz SUVs. It is a solid ride, very good road feel, quiet, smooth, good visibility, and MPG is probably around 25 hwy and 20 around town. To say others get better MPG not accurate. The back seat is decent for an adult so don't compare it to a Highlander, Pathfinder, Pilot, Explorer, 2017 Acadia, or a CX-9. Those SUVs don't allow for an adult in the back and also don't have enough in the very back to place a stroller with the 3rd seat up, you do in the Durango (tight but you can do it). The Citadel is not a luxury SUV but it is extremely close. Ventilated seats are a very nice touch and all the material is soft touch and feels really nice. Never thought the heated steering wheel would be so nice. The infotainment system is easy to use and offers you everything I can think of. One touch entry is awesome. Blind spot monitoring in side mirrors as well as when backing up is very nice. Love the captain chairs in the 2nd row, it is one of the best features for a family. The Stereo is great, our boy in the back made us turn the bass all the way down. the 20' rims and great grill set the car apart from the other boring cookie cutter suvs out there. The back race track lights are cool but a little extreme. The Bad: We traded in our 2014 GMC Acadia and for the Durango and the Acadia turned out to be the perfect size and it had a little better acceleration. The Durango can only fit two in the 3rd row, it is more narrow then we were use to so it is just a little tighter all around. The Durango is really a great car and considering that is bigger then most other 3 row SUVs out there so it is a good price. Just look at a Yukon or a Tahoe and then tell me if you think it is over priced.

Chrysler Hit It Out Of The Park
I previously owned a 2003 Tahoe Z71 totally loaded and I loved it. I just retired the vehicle with 245 thousand miles on it and it was still a mule. For six years my middle son used this as his primary vehicle for high school and college. Oh what stories I would hear if the vehicle could talk. Of course, I wanted another Tahoe until I went to the dealer and went into shock at the price. A friend told me to look at the Durango. I had owned Jeeps before and liked them a lot but needed the third row. Upon further investigation I found out this is a Jeep with the third row as its made on the same platform since the last four years. I needed the Hemi to tow boats and snowmobiles and wow, how cool a vehicle. And it has far superior gas mileage for the big powerful V-8 paired with the new Fiat 8 speed transmission. I wound up with the Citadel trim level and its plenty posh yet durable enough to last. I can't see having any regrets as I scoot around in this very peppy SUV. Brand loyalty can be a good thing but sometimes it pays to switch and big time in this case!

Love my choice to switch from a Ford
So I've made the switch from a Ford Escape (and still own a Taurus X, plus have had numerous other Fords) to my Dodge Durango. We needed a bigger more reliable vehicle to fit our expanded family (now 3 children!) so we began researching online the options. We checked safety, size, price, reliability, ratings before even test driving. We had it narrowed down to 4 options before test driving. Then after driving a Ford Explorer and then the Durango, I was in love with the Durango. So much more room! It could fit our sons gigantic car seat rear facing no problem! I thought the Durango seemed to actually handle better. We were able to get a better price on it with more options than the Explorer. We purchased one with heated seats front and back, heated steering wheel, push button and remote start, back up camera and one-touch unlock/lock from outside (which is one of my favorite features!). Now after almost 9 months, still love it! We've used it on some trips already and the gas mileage was 26 mpg. I was impressed! Haven't regretted buying this SUV once. I call it my baby and still try to wash it regularly! ;) *Update-owned for over a year and still love this vehicle! Still love driving it and it does great in winter weather, which we had plenty during this winter.Still recommend my Durango! *3.5 year update. Still living my Durango. Still baby it. It has a little over 100,000 miles and we have used it on plenty of long distance trips. It is definitely my favorite vehicle I have ever owned!

Amazing for those who want dad bods
This is probably one of the best purchases I have made. I was at first a little bit apprehensive as there are many competitors in this area however, this Dodge Durango blows all of them out of the water. I have a second row bench in my RT and it goes from family wagon and grocery getter to surprising the guy trying to race me in his fancy F-150 or Ram.

I'm not really sold, though this was a big truck
I had this for a week, while my car was in the shop. I liked many aspects of this, and many I did not. I'll try to be fair about both sides. The goods are: The look is awesome, Dodge has it going on. From the retro squared boxy design, to the LED running lights, to the rear lights on the tailgate, to the height, it is all super good. The car is heavy, and feels like it is a tank, so you feel confident about driving and not feeling like you will get blown around in the wind. The leather seats are super sweet, but getting in and out of them requires patience, and some pain. The equipment level is good for the price. The price is $42K, but for what you get, in today's market, is about average, or slightly above average. The headlights and driving lights on together give you a great view. The bads are: This thing does not want to stop....it is a beast and will require some pedal effort to get it to stop. The getting in and out will hurt you as the large plastic pieces on the sides of the seat snag you and it hurts....it is too big to sit over or down into...so you have to climb in and as you do, you will get hurt. Gas mileage was in the 14-15 range. The 3rd row seats are for kids...but nice to have. The shifting at times is horrendous, banging around like it is hunting for a good gear.....and the auto start/stop thing is nothing but annoying for the little bit of gas you might have saved. The interior lights are not LED - which is crazy because on our Dodge Journey SXT plus, they were all LED's inside. For $42K, you have to have at least what the Journey is offering, right? Not in this case. The front bumper rides very low to the ground and wants to scrape all the curbs as you pull into a parking spot. It was a great ride, but I was happy to turn it back in at the end of a week. I had put about 500 miles on it and I was not feeling like I wanted to go buy one. You should rent for a week before buying to see that it is worth the steep price for what you get. I loved the storage on this thing, but you might realize you don't need anything this big and expensive.

Great car if you don’t like power steering
We purchased our 2016 Durango in 2017 with 18k miles on it because we loved our 2004 Durango. It drove well and handled well, it had power and was quite comfortable. Our issues began at 68k miles when my wife got a dash board message “power steering unavailable service required” and lost the power steering. We turned off the engine and restarted, and the problem went away. Fast forward a month later and it happened again. Concerned, we took it to the Dodge dealer and they diagnosed it with a burned up power steering module. True to FCA form, the module is integrated into the rack and pinion and one must replace the entire assembly to replace the module. Our cost to repair? $4,002 to fix the steering. I inquired about just buying the part and avoiding dealership labor rates and found the part alone is over $3,100. I contacted FCA about the astronomical cost of replacing the rack and pinion, and shouldn’t it last more than 68k miles and they told me the price was fair and I was on my own. No offer to reduce the parts cost. After a week the steering went out completely so I got on the internet to try to find some aftermarket options. The only resource I found that sold refurbished racks for the Durango told me he was completely sold out. He stated the Dodge racks were epic garbage and he sold them as fast as he rebuilt them and even offered to rebuild mine if I’d send it in. I also found an electric rack and pinion recall on the 2016 Ram trucks while I was looking around. I emailed FCA again and told them of my finding that the internet is rife with Durango trucks experiencing this issue and other vehicles of the same year were same brand had recalls on the same part. I asked them to step up and do the right thing and reduce the cost of the part. They doubled down on they’re decision to leave me hanging with a ridiculously high repair bill on a vehicle that has very little miles on it. We just traded the Durango on a different brand because there is no confidence in Dodge for me. Never again FCA will I buy another of your vehicles.
New vehicle
Purchased a "USED"... yes used 2016 Durango R/T with 65 miles on it (July 2016). With the addition of a second child (we opted for 2nd row captain chairs), our 2013 Audi Q5 3.0T Prem Plus, S-Line just did not have enough interior room. Durango is a nice vehicle for its size. The V8 is a must for the weight of this vehicle. Coming from a supercharged V6 german CUV, my wife could not stand the Dodge V6. The 8sp is smooth. We tested other American SUV's that had the quad captain chairs as options and the Durango ticked all our boxes for satisfaction. We liked the turbo-6 on the Ford explorer but not much else on that vehicle. U-Connect is intuitive, I just hope the touchscreen lasts. I will update later on longevity. Noted....our Audi had 60k miles when we traded and was absolutely flawless....NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM during the ownership. Update....August 2018.....40000 miles. No problems...needed tires.....Durango still enjoyable. Had 2 software recalls that were updated at dealership with ease. We did receive a Water pump extended warranty letter from FCA for 7yr/unlimited mileage.

Oil leak
Make sure your not leaking oil from oil pan and rear main seal, got the Durango new with 56 miles the night I got it home it had two different leaks just check before you buy other then that great suv for your family, but Chrysler has been great in fixing the problem and also are offering a refund for the inconvenience so I would definitely recommend this vehicle just check before you buy that way you don't have to go through what I did.

We love it. 7 seats, comfortable. This is the nicest vehicle I've ever owned. I got one without the tow package. I wished I would have gotten the tow package the difference without the tow package capacity goes from 6500 to 3500. I like to boat. But overall I still love it

Dodge Durango Love!
I absolutely love this car! My lease is almost up and I am seriously considering leasing another. It has a roomy luxurious interior, great looking exterior, and enough power to hall your family or tow a load. With enough room for families large or small, room for luggage or tools and decent on gas.

2016 Limited
Had the durango for a little over 1 year now. I have had it in the shop at least 6 times. Every sensor you can possibly think of has gone out. Its in the shop as we speak for the same problem that was supposedly fixed early this week. I love the durango its roomy, drives smooth. I do not like the auto start/stop its very annoying, I wish there was a way to turn it off completely. Other than the few trips back to service, its a good vehicle. All the kids can charge their tablets on road trips. The vehicle wifi is terrible. My Chevrolet has awesome wifi compared to Dodge. Also during a hurricane Chevrolet gave a free month of wifi for its customers. Dodge said no way we are not offering you anything, even if your town was destroyed by a hurricane and you have no access to internet. Now it’s 2021 and the Durango has only had the water pump go out since my last review, it’s a dependable vehicle, no complaints.

LOVE LOVE LOVE
I have the 2016 SXT PLUS Blacktop Edition. Love the look. Drives smooth, hugs the road, great gas mileage ( 24.5 mpg average) The entertainment system/ controls ( touchscreen) is VERY user friendly. No problems at all with the Bluetooth. My favorites include the heated seats, heated steering wheel, the exterior and interior look. And you really feel like you are driving a SUV. The ONLY con I have is the acceleration (particularly uphill- ( but I have the V6.) Not complaining too much since it is a larger SUV and weighs more than the average counterparts so it is expected . The acceleration during driving on flat roads is fine. I had a Jeep before this and a Jetta before that. I will NEVER not own a Durango again

Can't believe I bought a Dodge..Still going Great!
Compares and wins against Tahoe, Acadia, Explorer, etc After 3+ years of ownership; no rattles or squeaks, no repairs needed. All I have done is change oil, bought a new set of tires (Same OME Bridgestones, love them) and replaced the front right turn signal bulb (myself, thank you YouTube!). I run with a K&N Engine Air filter and recently replaced the cabin air filter myself (easy, thank you YouTube!) With 50K miles, my mileage is 17 city/23 hwy.on Top Tier Premiun gas. I am thinking of having the throttle-body cleaned.

SUV with Style
The Styling is great. the interior lights and tail lights are great. the headlights are a bit dim compared to my Toyota Corolla and Ram 1500. Seating is great, comfortable, love the heated seats. love the autostart and keyfob for unlocking the doors. I just have to get close and the doors unlock for me as I reach for the door. The climate control auto adjusts. The Navigation SUCKS! I use WAZE instead. I do like the traffic and weather( although it gives me a Danbury weather report not putnam county) The GAS price checker is not very accurate.. still shows HESS and not the new name. In summary, car is great, Uconnect needs work to be more relevant. I was also wondering how they address Security on UCONNECT and was told I would be given a USB drive to update it. Working in IT security, I know there are problems that have still not been fixed on UCONNECT (well unless they can push it down to my car)

Great SUV! Just a couple of minor QC issues
The car is great. The dealership experience was not so great as I asked them to take care of the steering wheel alignment. In doing so, they messed up the actual wheel alignment (now drifts slightly to the left) and the steering wheel is still angled to the right. Other than that, its really a great car. It replaces a '14 Grand Cherokee, and much is very similar, but cornering is tighter on the new Durango. Third row and cargo space are a plus. My only other downside is that the Beats premium audio package is lacking in bass. Also lacking in ability to control the sound processor at the head unit. But these are minor things, most people will enjoy the sound quality as it is good.

Like Driving A Building
I was furnished a 2016 Dodge Durango AWD Limited by my insurance company while my Jeep Compass is being repaired (a tree fell on it). I am amused to no end that the automotive press just RAVES about the Durango while having little good to say about the Compass. Personally, I CAN'T WAIT to get my little Compass back. The Durango is a mastodon of over-engineered crapola, in my humble opinion. From the stereo I can't shut off to the engine that shuts off every time I stop, this ranch house on wheels is a Chinese water-torture of constant annoyance. It seems to run "okay", but it handles like an aircraft carrier. I checked online, and it looks like the going price for Durangos like my rental is about $40K, which I've seen described as "reasonable". I think it's absurdly overpriced.

Test Driving Potential Replacements for My Envoy
The Durango would probably be at the top of my list if the EcoDiesel V-6 was an engine option. I need something that can pull a trailer. Right now I'm leaning toward the Jeep Grand Cherokee for that reason. Won't decide for a few more months.

2016 Dodge Durango Limited
Thus far, I find the Durango overall a very good car. Surprisingly, my gas mileage over all is about 20mpg. The car rides will comfortable and the technology is very intuitive. I do not like the auto start as this takes some getting use too. Every time you come to a complete stop, the engine shuts down and restarts once you press the accelerator. With this feature, I wonder about the life of the starter?
We Love Our Durango!
After looking at multiple midsize AWD SUVs, we found the Durango was exactly what we needed. It has plenty of space, comfortable to ride in and drive, has all the bells and whistles you could imagine, and for its size and being AWD, it’s still sitting at 23 MPG combined- not bad! We love our Durango, everyone who rides in it asks us “is this a Durango?” Because these models are such a step up from the previous generation of Durango’s. We would highly recommend this car to anyone in the market for a new SUV!

Fun to drive!
As much as I enjoy driving this vehicle, I cannot find any issues with it. I have less than 10,000 miles on a used one but on a 2,000 mile road trip the mpg was around 22mpg for the whole trip. This wasn't in eco mode either. I have the RT and did not like driving the V6 models. Great for the experience and comfortable. We have had 6 people in this vehicle 4 adults and two car seats with kids in them. It did not feel crowded, but we have the captains chairs and a child seat does fit in the third row with an adult next to it.

2016 black awd Citadel 48k
First off, I am a huge Mopar lover. I wanted to get my wife a Citadel. We test drove a few 2014's, and then in 2015, and finally settled for a 2016 citadel in 2016. The first issue we had was the door locks started getting weird at 31,000 miles. Then, a few little bugs here, and there which was no biggie, and I mean nothing to be alarmed. The Fuel door was the next to go, which as I researched is a issue (bad engineering design). Washer fluid has been acting up, where it will not spray fully with any level. The ac compressor went @ around 45000, but if you ask me the stealership jacked with it, and it never was actually bad. No other owners on Durango forums has reported ac compressor issues, but whatever. I still love it, just be careful of the stealership you pick. Now after 80k miles the drivers door lock does not work, and frankly I still believe the stealership, I use to go to jacked with the car since I have MAX Care lifetime. Money in their pocket for repairs, and 100.00 deductible for me. MAX Care is a great thing, but they get to charge them for work performed, and it's a scam to MAX Care. Just be Be aware. Other than that the HID bulbs are super expensive. I take my Citadel to another stealership since they have a 4.5 rating, and a free drive-thru carwash, which is just as good as the 10.00 in town. Go figure.
