High Maintenance
Lots of recalls, still don't have the airbag fixed. Headlights burn out about every 6 months. Must use full synthetic oil or it will start smoking. Rear main seal started leaking at 100,000 miles. Had the transmission serviced at 98,000 miles, come to find out it is a Merc Benz transmission and to replace the filter, the pan and filter and seal is all one unit. $$$$$ Then comes the special transmission fluid $$$$$ It cost me over $300.00. Now 3 months later the transmission planetary gears stipped out and there is no new parts on the market yet to rebuild, and $$$$$ for a brand new one. I love this vehicle but it is a money pit. Get rid of it before 100,000.
Perfect Ride
2018 Review of my two 2014 Model Durangos. Yes me and my wife both had Durangos and we traded both in this year. I have nothing but positive things to say about those vehicles. Wife's 2014 had 115,000 on it and mine had around 95,000 miles. Neither Durango had any real maintenance issues. I really believe these are exceptional cars. They are built really well and the V6s have plenty of power and at the same time the gas mileage will surprise you for a 3 row seat SUV. Now my car was a company car and the company replaced it with a new Ford Edge. So, I am going to review that car also. But, if you are on the fence thinking about a Durango and other cars in its class, I would save the additional money and get the Durango. Durangos are a good value for what you get. Edmund's wanted another update. Again here it is. I own two 2014 Durangos. The SXT has 71,000 and I just got new tires. So, other than tires and oil changes...it has needed NOTHING. Rides as smooth as a Mercedes. My wife has 95,000. Wife's probably needs brakes. I find it amazing she hasn't needed them prior to 95,000 being that her vehicle pulls a horse trailer (with horses) many times a week. But, the bottom line is these are fine vehicles. Smooth, good looking, and reliable. And decent mileage for a 3 row SUV. Anyway that is the 2017 update. (2016 update) Edmunds kept emailing me asking for an updated review. Here it is. The 2014 Durango is a great vehicle. I have two of them. Mine (SXT), over 60,000 miles has NEVER needed any maintenance other than oil changes. My wife's (Rallye pkg or something like that) 80,000 miles has been to Dodge once for something minor (Cruise Control stopped working-was covered by warranty). Also the handle on the floor to the storage area behind the third row of seats broke off on hers. But, no real repair for her either. I will make one distinction. The SXT rides much smoother than the Rallye package my wife has. Hers is more of a truck type feel. I don't know if it is the lower profile tires or the stiffer suspension. It is a nice looking vehicle BUT I like the ride of the SXT. It truly is very smooth ride. The bottom line with these cars is they are very nice for the price. I have friends of mine with Audi SUVs, Mercedes SUVs, Acura SUVs, and whatever. They are nice cars too but they certainly do not have a better ride than my Durango. And I know this is a small sample but the Mercedes lives in the shop and the Acura is a rattle trap. The Audi seems nice but it cost as much as me and my wife's Durangos put together and I don't see any value in that. The main things I like about these vehicles is great ride, they ain't everywhere you look, great gas mileage for a 3 row SUV without sacrificing power, big gas tank - you go forever 500 miles on a tank, and great value for the price. Original Review Below from a couple of years ago. I was born in the 60's and grew up in the 70's when Chrysler didn't exactly have the best reputation among auto makers. I discovered the 2014 Durango because I use one very frequently for the company I work for. I couldn't believe how quiet and smooth the ride is. I used to joke around about the Durango being as smooth as a Mercedes. Then, I found out it shares the same platform as the Mercedes GL series. So, when my wife needed another vehicle I decided to get her a Durango. She picked out a 2014 Rallye package and loves it. The kids love it. The car is so quiet and smooth. The gas mileage is great. After 8000 miles we average about 22mpg. No maintenance issues.

WORST CAR EVER
Ok I did all this research before purchasing a used 2014 Dodge Durango and its been nothing but stress. I have contacted Corporate Chrysler and after about 3-4 times in different dealerships they finally replaced the transmission only to have the problem of a airbag light come on and apparently its out of warranty for that. To me its a bunch of annoyance and all about the money. I have had it less than 6 months and plan on as soon as I can get what I owe on it then trading it in on a newer car that isn't a problem on wheels. Space wise is good for an SUV, I have 4 kids 8 yrs and under and we all fit comfortable(think that's the only positive thing on it. lol)
