Excellent
Everytime I see another Durango on the street I realize how happy I am with my purchase. The look is great and the ride is perfect. Very comfortable, fits like a glove and has plenty of room.

New Durango blues
Bought our new Dodge last month. It is a SLT 4x4 model (2003). So far the best gas mileage I have recieved is approximately 13 miles per gallon. Pulling our 23 ft boot only 9.5 mpg. Aweful gas mileage. Our air does not run as cool as it should. We were trying to decide between an Envoy and the Durango and decided on the Durango because of the incentives. Also three days after buying the durango, the gas petal came off in the middle of a highway and we had to pull over to replace it. I now wish I had gone with the Envoy for comfort reasons and interior styling. The only con for the Envoy is that it felt like driving an all wheel drive van.
Nice Ride
I bought this car about a year and a half ago. it barely had 14000 miles on it and was in perfect condition. I paid $15.5k for it and got it for a steal. I had heard a lot of bad things about the Durangos but for the price, I could not pass it up. I have driven this car across the country twice and have not had ANY problems with it.
"D" are the best
This is my sconond "D" my Frist was a 2000 it had ovre 56,000 on it stile had the same tires and just did the front braks a week befor i tread it in still like new got new one just for the good deal i got
Great Value
This is my second Durango, after putting 75,000 on my 2000 traded it for a 2003. Great performance no problems. Ourisman Dodge and outstanding dearlership for both sales and service. First time I have ever traded a car in for the same one.
2003 Dodge Durango SXT 4x4 4.7L
I have a SXT model with the small 4.7 v8 and was getting around 18-19mpg hwy, till I installed a magnaflow powerpack muffler and a cold air intake. Now I'm getting around 380-400 miles to a tank full of 24 gals. That's strictly highway though. But when you kick down into passing gear you can feel a huge difference in power and almost watch the fuel needle go down. 0-60/6.1sec--1/4mile/15.42. 3.55axle 265/70x16 tires. Can't wait to see what happens when I put headers on and tune it. Love that 4.7!
Amazing Durango!!
I bought my 2003 Durango new and have been driving it ever since. I drive alot and have put 240k miles on this SUV. It has been a great car! Great for pulling our horse trailer, hauling kids and as day to day work vehicle. I change the oil every 3k miles or so and other than normal maintenance I have had NO problems. Prior to the Durango I usually did not buy American cars...but the Durango changed my mind! I just bought a new car and bought another American made car. (smaller car, better gas mileage than the SUV) I'm keeping the Durango around too...how many miles can you go Durango!! Love our Durango...thanks Dodge!
best thing i ever owned
We love the suv that was the best suv we could have wanted i just don't like the gas milage but it will do cause i wanted that suv over others
2003 Dodge Durango SXT 4X4
This truck is the best on i've owned. The truck before this was a Ford exporer and I can't believe the difference. Dodge has done a wonderful job with their SUV and I'm a buyer forever
Short Review: '03 Dodge Durango SLT Plus
It looks cool on the inside, Powerful enough to pull just about anything, and all the seat controls the driver has are on the passenger side as well
POWER
The overall power and handling has won me over. I would suggest this vehicle to anyone looking for a mid size SUV with great power.
True Love from Day 1
We bought our Durango new as the 1st replacement for our minivan era as our oldest began high school. It has faithfully, stylishly, comfortably moved 2 kids across country to college and I don't want another car. I wish it would last forever. I love it! Solid, dependable, built to keep a family safe and on the move! And nothing more than normal maintanance...and one water pump! 152,411 miles and still runs like day one! And I swear the mileage is improving...it would have to!
‘03 Durangoooooo !
I would buy another one of these in a heartbeat ! We bought our ‘03 in 2009 with just over 60K on the clock… installed Flowmaster muffs on it (my neighbors hate me) but that little 4.7 had no problem chirping the 265/75 tires I had on her…. Handled 3’ of snow like it wasn’t even there ! Only issues I had was the blower motor resistor (common), and the front passenger brake would hang up once in a while…. My son traded her in with about 175K on her for his 2017 RAM 1500. Im actually eyeballing one now to keep as a spare “beach rig” for when the kids come to visit !

Dodge Durango
I love this SUV, its much better than a mini van
02 Durango 4X4
Awesome vehicle... Absolutely no rattles and problems. Very solid vehicle.
In love
I have always owned Mini-Vans and we had a Ford Explorer, Never again. I am so in love with this SUV. Yeah gas millage is low but it's worth it to me because this is just such a cool and fun SUV to drive. Handles like a dream, rain or shine. I haul kids every where so dependability and room along with comfort are a most and I got all that and then some.
2003 DURANGO SLT
OUR 2003 DURANGO SLT HAS BEEN AN EXCELLENT FAMILY VEHICLE. IT SEATS UP TO 7 ADULTS,WITH PLENTY OF LEG, HEAD AND SHOULDER ROOM.IT HAS PLENTY OF CARGO ROOM FOR GETTING ITEMS IN AND OUT EASILY.EVEN THOUGH ITS A TRUCK IT RIDES VERY SMOOTH. ONLY COMPLAINT IS REGARDING THE GAS MILEAGE, ABOUT 13 CITY, 17 HIGHWAY.
What an SUV should be!
Powerful, fun to drive really roomy and has everything you should expect from an SUV. Wish gas mileage was better but you have to pay the price for power.
Plesantly surprised
I never thought I'd own a dodge but after driving it at the dealership and the GREAT rebates they were offering it put the Explorer to shame between options and price!
Great vheicle
Rides great, no problems
Great vehicle
The 2003 Dodge Durango is easily one of the best mid-sized SUVs currently on the market. After cross-shopping the Grand Cherokee, TrailBlazer, Explorer, and Endeavor the Durango stood out as the best handling and most comfortable of the group. The ride is excellent, the handling responsive, and the brakes very confidence inspiring. Comfort is the best of the SUVs I looked at and the dealer was the friendliest and most honest with respect to pricing/negotiating. With the current incentives on this vehicle it is hard to go wrong choosing the Durango.
Tested and Proven
I bought my Durango new and have owned it for over 6 years now. I had to do nothing more than routine maintenance since ownership. This vehicle is very sound and dependable. I have over 69,000 miles on it and just replaced the tires for the first time and only because a road hazzard trashed one of my tires beyond repair. I had enough tread left for at least another 10,000 miles. I wish I got better than the 15 mpg but it is a heavy suv. The interior has held up well along with the exterior paint. I plan to keep it for another 5 years and hope it takes as good care of me as it already has.
Durango
Great vehicle, but the mileage could use some work.
Best of Breed
Plenty of room inside , loads of cargo space and comfortable for longer trips. Power is more than acceptable for our needs and driving is responsive. Road noise is audiable, but not a factor. Milage is acceptable for this class of vehicle, giving us the sticker rated 14mpg/City and 15.9/combined. We haven't yet made a long trip to determine true hwy. Cockpit is nice, controls easy to see and reach for the driver. The A/C seems a touch underated for city driving at slow speeds, but is great on the highway. The back seat (2 row arrangement) is comfortable for adult passengers. For the price, 21k financed, 2k down, it is the Best of Breed!
poor
Dodge does not back their product whatsoever. This was the most horrible experience I've ever encountered with a vehicle. I will never own another dodge product. Beware of the transmission and get the extended warranty.
Never Again
Owned R/T for several months now and regret trading in my Infiniti for it. Had 32K when purchased and had tie rod problems from the day I drove off lot. Wife broke down 3 days after purchase. Went back to have driver side window switch replaced due to failure, Window came off track At 44k transmission started slipping on highway at 65mph. Took to dealer and whole transmission needed to be replaced over $2k. Lucky I bought extended warranty but still cost me $425 out of pocket. Still doesn't feel right. Slips now when rear end hits any bump on highway. I am going with my wife this week to get rid of it and buy a foreign car. American cars are just not up to the quality level.
Not for the long of back!
I went and tried to sit in one of these today, and noticed a not-so-nice feature. They have the rear a/c ducts in the cieling, so if you are long in the torso, you probably won't fit! Other than that, I would have bought one today.
My Durango, Jango unchained!
Loved my truck, still do. Took use of what it was able to do and took care of very well. Guess, I wore my baby out.

A great SUV
I bought my Durango in late 2003 used, with only 7000 miles from CarMax. Very reliable, great power with a 5.7 Liter V-8 engine. Good fuel economy for a V- 8 (about 15 mpg). Great pickup and third row seat that folds into floor is a great feature. I like its style better than the new 2004. Interior design is also wonderful.
I WILL NEVER BUY A DAIMLER PRODUCT EVER!
BEWARE POTENTIAL DURANGO BUYERS!!!! We purchased our '03 Dodge Durango SLT 4X4 off the lot in February. In Marh '03 we started having "issues" with it. The rear axle seal was leaking and finally after three repair attempts it was fixed. The complete rear axle was replace!! I thought I just bought a new Durango!! This was followed by the check engine light coming on for various other reasons that the service manager still can explain.
Excellent Rig
Fine, the mpg isn't great but what it lacks in that dept. it makes up for in every other category. Had I known how great Durangos are when they were introduced I wouldn't have waited until 07 to buy my 03. It's great! Plenty of power from the 4.7 (enough to tow my 68 Charger project on a flat bed), excellent turning radius, very reliable and just plain fun to drive. From deep snow to dry pavement the Durango handles it all. A dead battery and window moulding are the only issues I've had in more than 2.5 years of ownership. I can haul 8 people with the front buddy seat up and even managed to get a large dining table, six chairs and four people in it once. I just love it. It's a 4x4 muscle car.
2003 DURANGO SXT
REAR DIFF. HOWEL BETWEEN 50-55 MPH. RATTLES. NOT MUCH HELP FROM DEALER
Been in the shop a few times...
Bought my SLT 4WD in Nov 03. I hated the way the 04's looked + got a steal on the 03 anyway. At about 5000 miles, all the AC leaked out. Took 2 trips in, and they ended up ripping out the entire dash to replace the leaking parts. They did provide me a free loaner car on trip #2. At about 7000 miles, the driver seat had a pin fall out and the back of the driver seat jammed reclined. Now at almost 12000 miles, recalls for wiper motor, and now the ball joint failure. Plus the heater motor has gone out (died in ice storm last week). Also, gas mileage sucks! EPA rating is bull. I average 12.5MPG with 80% of it highway. I doubt I would buy another one, especially the ugly new models.
very disatisfied
This vehicle is very unreliable. When it goes into the shop it is there for at leas a day or two. One time it was in the shop for three weeks. I will never buy another dodge product.
Terrible vehicle !!!
2003 durango slt 4x4. Hands down the worst, most unreliable ,vehicle I have ever owned. This durango has been in the shop more than it has been on the road. The 4.7 could be the worst motor ever built. Drives like a tank and gets terrible gas mileage. I will Never buy another dodge. The only good dodges are the classics and a few of the trucks , mostly diesels 1st generation.

365k and still going…..
I love this rig, plenty of space for people and cargo, plenty of towing capacity to pull around a boat or trailer of ATV’s. Maintenance is about average, still running the original Powertrain. The transfer case and front driveshaft being its weak link. The 5.9 makes good power and is as reliable as anything on the road.

2003 Durango
I've had 3 Durango's & I've had many problems but overall, I love it! I have a 5.9 ltr engine and she does love to run! Navy blue, 4x4 SLT. My 5.9 engine is rare so I can't find parts unless I order them.
RIDES AS GOOD AS OUR LEXUS DID
THIS HAS BEEN A REAL TREAT. WE LOVE THIS VEHICLE! IT RIDES AS GOOD AS OUR LEXUS. WE GOT RID OF OUR RODEO (good suv),I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE QUALITY OF THIS SUV. I HAVE BEEN IN THE CAR BUSINESS FOR 25 YEARS AND RECENTLY RETIRED BECAUSE OF HEALTH REASONS. I FIND IT VERY EASY FOR ME TO GET IN AND OUT OF. AND PLENTY OF STORAGE FOR MY WHEELCHAIR.
My Kind of SUV
I enjoy my Durango. When I went to go look for an SUV I was really wanting the Ford Expedition, but the room and style of the Durango won me over.
GOOD EXTERIOR!!!
VERY NICE TO DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY. SUPERVE EXTERIOR DESIGN-NOT TOO BULKY AND OR SQUARE. EASY MAINTENANCE ACCESS ON THE ENGINE. LOVE THE V8 POWER....
Run... Don't get one!
Purchased on May 6, 2003... I did enjoy it for the 1st 5 weeks.. However, at 4200 miles it had an engine change rather than an oil change ... intermittant loss of power and problems with the transmission sliping, and multiple other problems with 2nd engine... did the obligatory oil change at 7200 (3400)miles... But then at 13000 miles the vehicle needed another engine. Dealer said "not their problem", call Chrysler... Chrysler refused to deal with the issue saying "Call the Dealer"
Dodge
Great car.. ne of the best I have seen made.
love but need better gas
love the truck .needs better fuel economy.
joes review
The SXT is fun to drive short distances and long trips. It has great get up and go when you need it and the tranny almost learns the way you drive. My only hang up is that I find it a little rugged on bumpy roads. But I really enjoy it. If I had to go buy a truck today, it would be a durango.(my old truck was a jeep wrangler)
Excellent Value
Beautiful Color. Fun to Drive!!
My Dream Vehicle
I love this vehicle and honestly cannot think of another one that I would want more. I enjoy every aspect of it. The drive is smooth; I have room for all my kids and my 2 big dogs; it looks great because even when it's dirty, from a distance it still looks claen and beautiful; cd/tape player is great. The mpg could definitely be improved... I only get about 300 miles to a tank which is what I got in my Civic and it had a considerably smaller tank.
My Durango
Very nice truck. Like it alot.
Good, but not great
If I had to buy a vehicle over again, this would not be the one, even if gas prices were not so high. It was a good vehicle, but only for the first couple of weeks I had it. I spend an averge of $600 dollars a month on a vehicle that I don't care about.
Worst car I have even owned!
This is the worst vechile I have ever owned. I bought it brand new and have had to bring it to the dealer 10 times to fix non-routine maintence items. Brakes went out, check engine light is on all the time and the dealership can't fix it (brought in 5 times), AC broke twice, wind shield wiper motors broke. Only 40K miles! I wouldn't wish this SUV on my worst enemy.
