Used 2014 Dodge Charger R/T 4dr Sedan AWD (5.7L 8cyl 5A) Consumer Reviews
Hemi with AWD, what's not to love!
10 years and we still love our charger! It started giving a heavy "clunk" when shifting from reverse to drive about 6 months ago, especially when cold, and the dealer just replaced the transmission with a rebuilt one. Luckily we purchased a lifetime Mopar repair contract when new so it only cost $100! Other than that it's still going strong, no regrets! My wife asked about getting a Charger, and I knew owners loved them but I was surprised to see that reliability complaints were few and far between. So I agreed to look at one and I am so glad that we did! After 18 months the car now has 18K trouble free miles with two repairs: 1) the sunroof lost its mind after about a year - it refused to work until it was reset and reprogrammed by a dealer and 2) it came with a cracked panel in the trunk that was replaced by the dealer. We purchased the AWD version because I personally would not consider a RWD car (which most Chargers are) in Chicago where we live. AWD works great in snow and we feel very secure driving it in the worst weather. It switches into AWD when the temp goes below the upper 30s and the mileage drops in the winter - we get 2-3 mpg less in the winter vs summer. I do wish it had a switch to disable AWD but it does not. The AWD R/T has a softer suspension and different tires than the standard R/T. We like it this way because it is a family car for us and everyone is comfortable in the car. AWD also makes "burnouts" pretty much impossible, but if you are looking for acceleration there is no substitute for four wheels putting Hemi power on the road! The car is really fun and comfortable to drive in any weather. Last comment: 2014 was the final year for the AWD Hemi R/T so 2014 is the year to get if you want this model. Review update: 1/2022 75,000 miles and nearly 8 years later we still have our Charger and love it even more! It's been super reliable and only recently needed an engine oil pressure sensor, the only repair since new! We just had the transmission fluid and filter changed because we have no plans to replace it. If you can find a nice one, then go ahead and buy it!

R/T plus all wheel drive
Its been a great car for 3 years, very quick, agile, comfortable, but obviously not old school marshmallow, lol,I've owned lots of cars over many years and this one is the best one yet I'm partial to mopar, but have had other's I truly liked from gm,ford,(,least favorite)and foreign=often overrated, overpriced, and people run the used ones in to the ground, and then still expect to dollar, no thanks, anyway this car is great I've had it to 115 m.p.h.and feels like 70,very stable, and quiet, highly recommend this car, never left me stranded, but remember, they all need maintenance, and care,I personally only run full synthetic oil,and change it every 7-8k miles, and don't even have to add any in between, I'm at 62k,now and running strong.

Found out AWD, bought in a week
Always admired the V8 Chargers from a distance, living in New England rear wheel drive for an every day car, especially one with 385 ft/lbs of torque, is not really logical. Then through browsing through Edmunds, I discovered they made an AWD up until 2014. I found one with just under 30k at a local garage, went and left with it on Saturday. I have loved every minute inside the car, the ride is not too stiff, but certainly not land yacht like. You can feel the power of the engine, but she settles in nicely at legal speeds. She's definitely heavy, and you can feel her, but she's a sedan the heft feels like it belongs with the car (you are not going to get everything for $23k, give me the Hemi and the 370 horses with it and I am happy). I am not a thin man, and sometimes getting in the car is a bit difficult (head on the frame), I would have liked a little bit easier to read analog gauges and the quality of the display is not fantastic, but I bought this car for the engine, and it delivers on my main purchasing point. And she looks beautiful in my driveway.

Great car!
I purchased my 2014 Charger R/T new and just sold it (1/31/22). Wonderful car and surprisingly good on gas for a V8. I averaged 18 mpg. Still ran perfect until the day I sold it.

Once you get Dodge Hemi you don't want any other
After almost 2 years of ownership I am very happy for what I upgraded. Now I see and feel why old school muscle car people love this and (the Challenger). I love it too. I moved away from owning a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer LT which I still own and love as my 1st but this car is a "Beast" I even named my car that. I live in Chicago, IL and so I was originally looking for a newer model with AWD but sadly they discontinued it after 2015 with the Hemi motor. That sucks. Reason why I found out the 2014 was the last with a Hemi and AWD. 4 out of 5 stars because despite that these are powerful cars there are issues of the Check Engine light going on especially when riding hard and fast which I do against people with overrated Ford Mustangs and Chevy Cameros which I hate the most. .Even people with Honda Civics, Accords and Toyota Corollas how try to challenge this car. I blew them so easily going around in circles. Going back the check engine light went on twice because despite that I changed the oil with full synthetic it burns up right away. Another issue was the starter. Thank goodness I bought an OEM starter with warranty. Thus the 4 out of 5 stars. Its great but not perfect. I am also not a loyal brand person but the owning a Dodge with A hemi has made me a believer to stick with Dodge.
